It's a jam-packed show for today's Emmajority Report, starting with some alarming news about the Trump administration cutting funding for vital research on women's health. After that, Emma talks to Jacob Silverman about Donald Trump's crypto shenanigan sand how the Trump camp is financially benefitting from manipulating the markets. Check out Jacob's latest piece for the Financial Times "Welcome to slop world: how the hostile internet is driving us crazy" https://www.ft.com/content/5d06bbb4-0034-493b-8b0d-5c0ab74bedef  After that, Emma speaks with Abdel El Sayed, who has just launched his campaign for a Senate seat in Michigan and has the backing of Bernie Sanders. He talks about his experiences as a public health official and how they informed his political outlook and why he's putting health care and particularly Medicare for All at the heart of his platform. He also thinks the Democrats need to do better when it comes to keeping groups like AIPAC out of their campaigns. In the Fun Half, Emma will be joined by the usual Thursday crew, Matt Binder and Brandon Sutton. They check in on LA City Attorney Hydee Feldstein-Soto and why she's being credibly accused of bias against the pro-Palestinian protesters she's prosecuting. Join Scot and Greg as they dig into the IRS possibly revoking Harvard's tax-exempt status, Bernie Sanders backing a truly radical Senate candidate in Michigan, and CNN's over-the-top praise for George Clooney's 2024 call to replace Joe Biden.First, they analyze reports that the IRS may strip Harvard of its tax-exempt status. Scot emphasizes that this issue should be treated separately from the Biden administration's efforts to withhold federal funds over the school's failure to meet anti-Semitism standards. The guys also mull over whether such an action by the IRS would make it easier for a future Democrat administration to take aim at conservative institutions, or whether the left will do that regardless of what the right does now.Next, they spotlight Bernie Sanders endorsing far-left candidate Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate in Michigan. El-Sayed is known for supporting government-controlled health care, taxpayer-funded college (dubbed "free" college by the left), and for his hostility toward Israel. But Scot cautions that El-Sayed is an articulate speaker, boasts a successful medical background, and could receive glowing media coverage similar to Barack Obama back in 2004.Finally, they call out CNN's Jake Tapper for heaping excessive praise on George Clooney's “brave” letter to the New York Times editor urging Democrats to replace Joe Biden after last year's debate. Scot and Greg see it as a transparent effort by the media and left-wing elites to rewrite history and pretend it was impossible to know about Biden's cognitive decline before the debate. Please visit our great sponsors:Oracle will cut your cloud bill in HALF —new US customers only, offer ends May 31st! Send us a textIn 1992, South Carolina featured a heated Senate race that featured two very experienced and respected political figures in incumbent senator Ernest Hollings and his challenger former Congressman Tommy Hartnett. It would be the toughest challenge for Hollings in decades because not only was Hartnett a formidable challenger but the political dynamics in South Carolina were changing fast as the state grew more conservative and more Republican. But Ernest Hollings was a towering political figure. He had been at the forefront of political crusades to feed the hungry, keep the military strong, protect manufacturing jobs, and stop the massive amounts of money flowing into political races. Holling's fit the bill that had often been how South Carolinian's described liking their politicians, "Ernest Hollings fought hard for what he believed in, even when he was wrong." That always appealed to people in the state even when they disagreed with the Senator. His opponent in the race was former Representative Tommy Hartnett, the former congressman from the South Carolina First District, which included Charleston S.C. where the Senator was from too. Hartnett was a champion for fiscal responsibility, supported term limits for Congress, and fought to keep the budget under control. He had arrived in Washington D.c. as part of the Reagan Revolution in 1980 and served for six years in Congress before deciding to come home and run for Lieutenant Governor. After nearly, two and half decades in public life, first as South Carolina State House member, he lost the race for Lieutenant Governor and this was his attempt at a comeback. This was an exciting race between two formidable men. In this episode, we will look at the careers of both men and their thoughts on Government and what they both feel is the problems our nation at the time faced. Many of those issues still plague us now. In the end, we will focus in on the legendary career of the incumbent, a man considered a giant of American Politics both at home and in washington D.C. He became famous for his southern Charleston drawl, his towering physical frame, and his often blunt, fiery positions, on issues, always on the side of the little man he had been sent to the Senate to represent. Then in our next episode we will present the South Carolina United States Senate debate and let me warn you, it will be exciting, but unless you are from South Carolina you may need an interpreter to understand them.  Questions or comments at , Randalrgw1@aol.com , https://twitter.com/randal_wallace , and http://www.randalwallace.com/Please Leave us a review at wherever you get your podcastsThanks for listening!!

Send us a textIn this episode we tune in to the first days of the 1992 Republican National Convention. We will go first to the morning session and hear from a list of Republican candidates for Congress as they try to "Bounce the House" after the Democrats get themselves in gulfed in a house banking scandal where several of the members bounced hundreds of the thousands of dollars in checks on the House bank. We will hear from former Congressman Tommy Hartnett who challenged my State's long time Senator Ernest Hollings in 1992. It was the first race where I was selected to chair the campaign at my little college in Greenwood S.C. While I never met Mr. Hartnett, I had a lot of fun, and enjoyed listening to him and Ernest Hollings battle it out with thick Charleston, South Carolina accents. This is the first of a couple of episodes that will feature this 1992 Senate Race. Then we will hear from former candidate Pat Buchanan as he electrifies the convention with a tough , conservative speech about the culture wars in America. It was , often, very accurate in substance, but it gave a much meaner look to conservatism than the man who would walk on to the podium just after him and out of prime time. That speech will be what our next episode will cover; the man who put a smiling face on American Conservatism, Ronald Reagan.  Questions or comments at , Randalrgw1@aol.com , https://twitter.com/randal_wallace , and http://www.randalwallace.com/Please Leave us a review at wherever you get your podcastsThanks for listening!!

This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum dig into the Harris' campaigns agenda for Black men. When she doesn't address Black folks they say she's disrespectful, when she does they say she panders–our hosts have some sharp words for those who would lay the results of this election at the feet of Black folk.    We have got to talk about the looming threat of political violence and election-denialism. This is guaranteed not to be a normal election, particularly if it's close. Our hosts point out important election-related court battles, and explain how the GOP strategy of denying election results is connected to the increasing threats of political violence.    Finally, the hosts point out some important Senate and House races to pay attention to, and shout out Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a personal story. However, a brand-new report from Axios suggests otherwise. Alex Thompson writes: “The relationship between Kamala Harris' team and Joe Biden's White House has been increasingly fraught in the final weeks before Election Day.” You can read the article here: https://www.axios.com/2024/10/13/kamala-harris-biden-campaign-tension 5:15pm- Kamala Fading in National Polls. Over the weekend, an ABC News-Ispos poll of likely voters showed that Kamala Harris currently leads Donald Trump nationally—50% to 48%. Harris was up 5% one month earlier, according to NBC. 5:20pm- Happy Columbus Day: Vice President Kamala Harris celebrated Columbus Day by explaining: "European explorers ushered in a wave of devastation, violence, stealing land, and widespread disease" Rich argues that Tony Soprano summarized Christopher Columbus best when he said: “He discovered America is what he did.
