Wien, Forschungs­gruppe Zeitgenössische Solidaritätsstudien Moderation: Christa Zöchling, Journalistin 1922, in den frühen Jahren der jungen Ersten Republik, wurde die Hilfsorganisation Societas gegründet, um die unfassbare Not nach dem 1. Weltkrieg zu lindern. Die Societas war ein Verband von vorwiegend Wiener Fürsorgevereinen der Arbeiter*innenbewegung auf Bezirksebene und arbeitete eng mit der staatlichen Fürsorge bzw. mit jener der Wiener Stadtverwaltung, des Roten Wien, und mit anderen privaten Fürsorgevereinen zusammen. Diese aus der Zivilgesellschaft entstandene Organisation wollte, ohne Unterschied von Herkunft und Religion, helfen und eingreifen, wo dem Staat die Mittel fehlten. Man wollte nicht nur wohltätig sein, sondern die Armut auch politisch bekämpfen. 1934 wurde die Societas verboten. Am 21. März 1947 wurde im Geiste der Societas die Volkshilfe gegründet. Damals wie heute geht es nicht nur um das bloße Verteilen von Almosen an Bedürftige, sondern um die Begegnung mit in Not geratenen Menschen auf Augenhöhe, um deren Unterstützung und darum, ihnen wieder eine Perspektive zu bieten. Ob und inwieweit kann man aus der Geschichte lernen? Wie passen der Wunsch nach mehr Solidarität und Zusammenhalt und die zunehmende Vereinzelung in unserer Gesellschaft zusammen? Welche Impulse braucht es aus Politik und Zivilgesellschaft, um den vielen Krisen zu begegnen und um ein gutes Leben für möglichst alle zu ermöglichen? Kann Geschichte Orientierung und Zuversicht für eine wenig berechenbare Zukunft geben?

ANSWER: It is a very disciplined practice. It is highly technical the exorcism sessions are limited to 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Usually all the afflicted can handle. Dr. Nawrocki assisted in the Practices Peer Forum to update accreditation standards for the Association of Theological Schools, helped the USCCB train clergy on preaching Laudato Si, consulted and lectured for the University of Notre Dame Martin Preaching initiative, and assists the Diocese of Austin Deacon formation in preaching. This is a debate I have long tried to avoid, but was finally roped into doing. I avoided it because I don't think the issue is debatable (as though there are good arguments on both sides). It's appropriate to discuss the issue of anarchy, of course, just as it is appropriate, say, to discuss Kant or Marx's ideas, but not to present the issues involved as debatable or as an internal disagreement among people who essentially agree.As you will see from the discussion, and in particular the Q&A, which I urge you not to miss, I view Anarchism as *evil*, on par with communism and fascism -- morally worse than, say, a run-of-the-mill professor advocating for the welfare state. By associating with this position, true pro-liberty individuals have discredited their position in the eyes of reasonable people. There is nothing important in common between Locke and the Founding Fathers, on the one hand, and the Murray Rothbard type anarchists, on the other. The Order of the Dragon was an order of nobles founded by the king of Hungary, Sigismund von Luxembourg, in 1408.
