“The end is coming!” Throughout the years, this short but terrifying sentence has sent shivers down the spines of believers, conjuring images of apocalyptic destruction and trials foretold by ancient texts. The Greek word “escha” means last or farthest away. There are many different views and words for this study. Specifically, Jenny views it as the “last days.” Like many others, Reagan and Jenny have been exposed to the fear of the end times that Hollywood and society have perpetuated. However, the book of Revelations isn't about fear. It is about the revealing of Jesus Christ. [06:55] Jenny: “Revelation is ‘the revealing of'… It means the revealing of Jesus Christ. It is about Jesus. When you look at Revelations with those lenses of ‘Where are we seeing him revealed?' your view starts to change.” It reveals the New Covenant and what that means for us, believers.[07:23] The Major Views of the End TimesThe dispensational view looks at Revelations at different times. From the growth of the Church to the 7-year peace agreement of the Antichrist and Jesus' return to reign and end all evil. The Church is raptured before, in the middle, or after the 7-year tribulationAmillennialism believes that Jesus reigns right now. There will be no rapture and the Church waits for Jesus' second coming and then eternity. A preterist view believes the Revelations were fulfilled in the first century. A partial preterist believes that it has mostly been fulfilled and only awaits the return of Jesus.Other views include historical, post-millennialism, futurism, and idealism. Listen to the full episode to gain a better understanding of the different views of the end times with Jenny.Jenny is a partial preterist with an amillennialist viewpoint. She believes that Jesus is reigning in the present. Once He comes back, he will bring eternity.[13:09] The Journey Into Studying the book of RevelationIn 2020, Jenny started questioning what other people told her about the end times. She started reading Revelations and felt uneasy about how some things didn't make sense. She discovered that the 7-year tribulation theology came from Daniel's 70 Weeks prophecy. Jenny started reading the Book of Daniel and listened to different viewsJenny started studying the Hebrew writings in Daniel. It's through this that she better understands the 70 Weeks prophecy and how it actually refers to Jesus and His ministry. The next step in her journey was understanding what Matthew 24 says when talking about the end times and the great tribulation. In the past year, she studied Revelations and listened to different views and perspectives. With prayer, Jenny felt the Holy Spirit confirm her beliefs not with fear but with peace.[17:02] A Deeper Look Into Pre-Tribulation Rapture Theology and HistoryDispensationalism was made popular in the 1800s by John Nelson Darby. His work has then been taught in seminaries.Josephus was a first-century Jewish historian. He documented the history of the Jewish-Roman War. His works are crucial in understanding the views of the end times. In Matthew 23, Jesus proclaimed destruction and judgment on that generation before He died in 30 AD. In 66 AD, Roman armies surrounded Jerusalem before pulling out and allowing Christians who heeded Jesus' warnings to flee the city. The Roma-Jewish War lasted for 3 and a half years as written in the books of Revelations and Daniel. It ended in 70 AD after a final siege lasting 5 months.A better understanding of these dates gave Jenny a deeper look. Learn more about these historical dates and Bible writings in Jenny's full explanation in this episode.[27:02] The Book of RevelationsMany believe that John wrote Revelations between 90 and 95 AD. However, based on his age and writing, it makes sense to have been written around 60 ADRevelations is the last book in the Bible as it describes the destruction of the temple and how it embodies the Mosaic Covenant. Jenny asks important questions to better understand Revelations in her journey. This brings her to the realization that the Old Covenant is done and the New Covenant has everything we need.[31:30] Explaining the Olivet DiscourseThe Olivet Discourse is found in Matthew 24 and Luke 21. Before this, Jesus calls out the Pharisees and scribes as hypocrites in Matthew 23.Jesus and His disciples talk about His proclamation of judgment on the Pharisees, the destruction of the temple, and when it will occur. The disciples ask Jesus about the signs of coming and the end of the age, referring to the Old Covenant Age.In Matthew, Jesus refers to the “Abomination of Desolation” mentioned by Daniel about the first-century destruction. Luke 21 tells the same story of this discourse where he writes about this desolation as Jerusalem surrounded by armies. These chapters and verses can be seen in the Roman-Jewish war between 66 AD and 70 AD.Jesus' proclamation was fulfilled. Romans conquered, took people captive, and left others dead. Not one stone was left in the temple when it was destroyed in the war.[42:38] The End of the Old CovenantThe 70 weeks of Daniel was during Jesus' 3-and-a-half-year ministry. He was crucified midway through the 70th week. [43:19] Jenny: “When Jesus came when he resurrected and ascended into heaven, He began reigning at that point. The new covenant was in effect for those who accepted it.” After Jesus' resurrection and ascension, the New Covenant and His reign began. This overlapped with the Old Covenant as it became obsolete and slowly vanished. The fall of the temple was the end of the Old Covenant.[46:14] Following the Way of the New CovenantRecently, there has been talk about rebuilding the temple. However, Jenny believes that this is a distraction of the enemy from our task to grow and become many. [46:34] Jenny: “You and I are the temple and the Holy Spirit. God dwells in us and where He dwells is His glory. So when it says the glory will fill the whole Earth, that is us, believers.” People are so focused on what can happen in the future that it distracts us from what we should be doing. Many are scared and choose not to live their lives due to this fear.We get stuck in fear. However, it's important to ask about if this is from the Lord. The Lord is perfect love and not based on fear.John, as a prophet of the first century, wrote Revelations referring to the first destruction of the temple like the prophets of the Old Testament. Jenny believes we are at the end of the book, experiencing Jesus' reign and waiting for His return. We are made spiritually new in Christ but yearn for physical restoration.[56:16] Freedom From Fear By Understanding the End TimesWhat Jenny has learned about the end times has helped her in understanding the New Covenant. She is now on a new journey to find out what it means to be a new creation and know our true identity.Once we stop fearing and looking for the Antichrist and more, we can focus on Jesus and the New Covenant. There is freedom from fear to be able to live and move forward. About JennyJenny Mire is the founder of The Rooted Truth and Think Fit. •   My brand is My Think Fit, and that started more than a decade ago, and I've always truly believed that you have to think fit first, you know it has to come from the inside before you can reach any of your fitness goals. It's kind of like you talk to people that, for example, I want to quit smoking or something like that, right? And your loved ones all around you can want you to quit, whatever this bad habit is, so much, but until you're truly, truly ready, you're never going to do the thing right. And so I kind of have always correlated that to our health and fitness journey, until you can really get your mind right and get straight there, it's really not going to matter what you're doing, because you're going to give up, you're going to quit. It's not going to mean much to you. So I just think that you truly have to think at first before you can truly live it. And I also believe that when you have everything stripped away from you, you have no other choice, it doesn't matter what's going on on the exterior, If you're not okay on the inside. (2:04)•   I was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 38, so in 2018, don't do the math you'll know how old I am... When I was 38, I was diagnosed with stage three, grade c breast cancer, and I was truly... If you would have looked at pictures or looked at lab work or anything like that, I mean, I was at the epitome of my health and fitness, I was doing great, there were no complaints in that arena, I don't think. But throughout that journey, everything was stripped away from me, I lost every inch of hair that was on my body, I was so sickly looking, my finger nails turned brown, my teeth got jacked, I had sores in my mouth, I had... At one point, I had an infection all over my face. If you can take, just the worst of the worst in looks, that's pretty much what you were going to get. I had sores on my head, scars all over my body. So basically, every single thing on the exterior was completely stripped away from me, right? There is nothing left on that, so when you have nothing left on the outside, that has to come from somewhere, right? (4:09)•   I think when we're more honest about our imperfections, I mean that's a hashtag I use all the time, #PerfectlyImperfect. But I think that when we are more honest about our imperfections were more relatable. Anyway, I mean, that's the one thing I can remember, at one point I was really building a business and someone talked to me and they were like, I want to join you, but you are way too perfect, I can't ever attain that. And I'm like, Whoa, you know that just, it was not a compliment to me, because I was like, I am completely failing, right? Because I am the furthest thing from perfect, and if that's what I'm giving off and there's a problem... There's a big problem. Now, what I do love in today's world, I do feel like we're starting to embrace things differently, we're starting to embrace different body types and see all different shapes and sizes as beautiful. (7:15)•   I'm big on my faith, right? In fact, I just was telling my daughter this last night, it's truly 100% cheesy, and this is exactly what my text to her said, I was like, as cheesy as it sounds, God made you on purpose. God made you exactly the way you are because you are perfect in His image. You have to remember that you were created the way, you are 100% on purpose, there were zero mistakes made. Zero. So if you can somehow try to just embed that into your head, whether it is putting things all around your house, little reminders, putting things in your car, on the mirror, personal development and personal growth is so huge, and I think that when you can learn to come from a place of love instead of a place of resentment or anger, it can change everything. And so for me personally, my first steps are, I do a devotion every single morning to try to remind me and get my mind set right so that I can think in a more fit mental aspect throughout the day, that's my first step. And then, just trying really to work, I'm constantly listening to podcasts, I have a podcast, and I'm constantly listening and putting positivity into my head. (11:55)•    I think just realizing like, I don't care who you are, what stage of life you're in, chances are, you've either been through a battle, or you're going through one right now, or you will. None of us are immune from it, and I learned that really hard core. When we got our diagnosis, I just love to tell people, if you can take anything away, it's just don't wait for tragedy to strike before you start taking care of yourself. I know without a doubt, if I would not have been doing my personal growth, reading my devotion every single day, being in the shape I was physically, eating the way that I had, if I would not have had all of those pieces in place when I did get my diagnosis, I know without a doubt, I might have made it through, but I darn sure I would not have come through and been able to get back in a healthy lifestyle, it would have been a whole lot harder, and my journey was really freaking hard. It was not one that was just A to Z, it was miserable, it's still miserable. So, I just really wish that people don't wait until you get that diagnosis to be like, Oh, you know what, I'm going to start taking care of myself, right? Don't wait until you lose someone before you're like, Oh, I really need to get right in the head. Quit waiting. Don't wait because it's going to happen, so start now, there's no better time than the present. Just don't wait for it to strike. Start taking care of yourself in the here and the now. It has nothing to do with aggression and the ‘do-more' culture of high intensity exercise or sports.  Resilience is about accepting what is within our control.  We must tune the body back into itself and understand that the human body actually loves acute stressors.  Listen in to learn about the mindset that Jenn uses and Jesse's first time in the cold water. It’s time to poke the bear!  In this, the first of a two-part series, Dr. J and Gregory take a critical look at functional training.  They’ll evaluate some of the conventional thinking around the “F” word, turn it upside down and inside out, and present some enlightening research that’ll really make you reconsider your assumptions.  Finally, they’ll redefine what it really means to train functionally. Join Fitness for Consumption in part one of this episode in which they stir up some real controversy.  We explore the emergence of functional training in the fitness world and examine some of the claims and theories of modern day proponents.  Are many of the accepted beliefs regarding functional training supported by credible, empirical science?  Or, do they germinate from the whims and unsubstantiated theories of many current fitness gurus?  To answer this, they dive deep into some research that begins to cast doubt on some of those theories.   Dr. Juris shares some of his real-life experiences encountering functional training, and together, we offer a new definition that may change your approach to training functionally. Topics discussed:   History and emergence of functional training practices Questions that begin to challenge the conventional thinking on functional training Landmark research that raises questions about current approaches to function The difference between a functional process and a functional outcome A new perspective on functional training Glossary   Functional outcome - An approach to exercise in which the focus is on the transfer of the training effect to objectively measured goals.   Functional process - An approach to exercise in which the focus is on the organization of movement.   References   Butler, Robert J, et al (2010).  Biomechanical analysis of the different classifications of the Functional Movement Screen deep squat test.  Sports Biomechanics.  9(4): 270-279   Kremer, P. et al (2009). Why We Move

Fitness is as fitness does. Are we really fit?  For what?  In this inaugural episode, Dr. Paul Juris and Gregory Gordon, MA tackle the very notion of fitness, seen through the lens of human movement science.  They offer a new definition of fitness, from the perspective of, “why we move.” What is fitness?  Well, that’s sort of like asking, what is a car or what is a dog?  Of course, you know what it is, and you assume everyone else also knows what you know.  When you start scratching a little bit below the surface, however, you might discover that your definition of fitness differs from those of your colleagues,  friends or family.  Perhaps it’s all about body fat, or how many tires you can flip.  How downward is your downward dog?  How long can you hold your plank?  Maybe it’s not so simple after all. Before we can learn how to get fit, we need to figure out what fitness is in the first place.  That’s what this episode is all about, defining fitness from the perspective of human movement science.  Join us as Dr J. proposes a unique definition of fitness that might just shift your thinking a little.  We dive deep into the notion of exercises as problems and look at our movements as solutions. How does that relate to fitness?  Join our conversation and find out! In this episode we discuss: A new definition of fitness What we mean by fitness problems The components of a fitness problem Glossary Constraints - Factors that influence, or limit, our movements and actions   Spatial - Referring to the three-dimensional space, including objects therein, in which movement occurs   Temporal- Referring to the timing component of a neural command, or timing of a movement   Follow Us On: instagram @FitnessforConsumption This is a production of Think Fit. Strategy for exercise can make you boundless- but where do we start?  It turns out ‘following party lines’ is relevant and deleterious in exercise too.  The information in this landmark episode of Think Fit. Be Fit. podcast has the potential to completely change the way you view exercise which is a major step in strategically applying the best exercise for your body.     This of course challenges our thinking about exercise, which is our topic today along with the exciting introduction of our second show on TFBF, Fitness for Consumption.  This new series takes on subjects that are used and abused daily in fitness pop culture and at the PhD level are making it more savory and simple for consumption.   Noted kinesiologist, Dr. Paul Juris, and motor learning and clinical specialist Gregory Gordon share more than 50 years of collective knowledge and experience, offering a human movement point of view on all things fitness.  Through their scientifically practical and common sense approach, they’ll cut through trends, orthodoxy and pseudo-science, to help you understand not only WHAT to do, but, more importantly, WHY you’re doing it in the first place. If you are stuck in an exercise rut or rabbit hole of questions about it then tune in to this episode because we can breathe some logic and inspiration into your fitness brain.   You know strategy in exercise makes you boundless- but where to start?  (wink - wink) this episode is a great warm-up for what is about to come!   If you are a trainer interested in developing your critical thought or a therapist interested in lifestyle medicine, then this episode has some interesting topics that can help you grow.   PJ even shares his platinum rule for personal trainers that he has shared with the highest tier of trainers in certifying fitness organizations.    Topics covered: Not losing an opportunity to gain knowledge and wisdom about your body and exercise.  It’s such an incredible investment of your time and energy.     The difference between an understanding vs just repeating instruction   The platinum rule in training from PJ   Information processing in exercise and movement   ADVERTISE WITH US: Reach dedicated exercise professionals, future trainers, and exercise enthusiasts all over the world. Welcome to the second Boutique Fitness Guide on Think Fit. Be Fit. Podcast!   We love the idea of boutique fitness for the greater good of our collective fitness and for creating valuable health assets.  A sense of belonging and managing a healthy lifestyle are what Boutique Fitness studios offer that the bigger gyms are striving to copy and why we keep going back.     Even though some studios are getting $300 a month from their clients, the quality is not styled to accommodate all the injuries lying beneath the surface of those of us exercising with old injuries. The reality is we need a critical view and legit injury prevention advice before committing to what seems to be the most popular classes.     What is critical review of exercise?  Most exercise or class reviews are focused on what sells.  I have nothing to gain by sharing my views on these classes except to show you that your body deserves an individualized approach to improving your exercise.  My belief is that with applicable basic science knowledge we can make these types of decisions about fitness classes.       With this episode you will learn about boxing and mega-reformer boutique classes:     Why fatigue after cardio is more than just unconditioned muscles A discussion on all the variations of the boxing craze. The conversation on this always comes back to owning your training process, the ultimate fitness hack to what really matters: exercise longevity. This episode covers running topics related to injury prevention and getting stronger. The important step is that you recognize that once a sports injury is sustained that it can continue to haunt you until you address with tailored strength training and a wholistic awareness of your training process. Muscle Soreness Is Not An Indicator Of A Great Workout

While a “no pain, no gain” mentality can be admirable in some ways, your body might not agree with this approach. You may feel sore after a rewarding workout, but this soreness isn’t a requirement for getting stronger or improving your physique. Just like with stretching, exercise science doesn’t confirm that soreness is safe, effective, or useful in attaining your fitness goals. In this episode of Think Fit. Be Fit, Jenn explores how many people learn the myth of soreness as an indicator of a good workout as well as the sensations of muscle soreness. Soreness is highly correlated with muscle weakness, so when your muscles are sore from a previous workout, you may be predisposed to injuries from overexertion. If your goals are building strength and feeling your best, then soreness can be an enemy if you allow it to persist.
