For years, I've been talking about how if I could choose one single method of cardiovascular training to do the rest of my life, it would be the use of this strange “VASPER" machine that holds a hollowed place in my home gym. It's a bit difficult to describe, but essentially VASPER combines blood flow restriction/compression, cold thermogenesis, and full-body high-intensity interval training in a single 21-minute workout that seems to give the same benefits as, a comparable 2- to 3-hour workout of running, cycling, swimming, etc. It's truly something I consider to be the ultimate biohacking “shortcut” to getting fit. Don't give me wrong: it's a challenging workout when you use VASPER, but when you combine all of the technologies within this impressive unit, the fitness payoff is huge. In today's chat with Peter Wasowski, we unravel the magic behind VASPER, merging compression, cooling, and high-intensity workouts. We'll touch on its unique effects on body temperature and blood flow, and even get a sneak peek at the upcoming VASPER Breath device. Whether you're a fitness novice or a seasoned biohacker, this chat with Peter offers insights you won't want to miss. My friend Dr. James DiNicolantonio's new book, WIN: Achieve Peak Athletic Performance, Optimize Recovery and Become a Champion, is undoubtedly one of the most evidence-based books I've seen on athletic performance. The book teaches the underlying pillars of physical development and fitness, such as nutrition, muscle growth, fat loss, body composition optimization, recovery, supplementation, and much more. Dr. DiNicolantonio is a cardiovascular research scientist and doctor of pharmacy at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, Missouri. A well-respected and internationally known scientist and expert on health and nutrition, he is on the editorial advisory boards of several medical journals and is the author or coauthor of approximately 300 publications in the medical literature. Dr. DiNicolantonio serves as the Associate Editor of Nutrition and British Medical Journal's (BMJ) Open Heart, a journal published in partnership with the British Cardiovascular Society. He has shared his expertise on The Dr. Oz Show, The Doctors, and international news media outlets. Not only are there specific protocols for top athletic performance in his book WIN, but all the recommendations are backed by a wealth of scientific evidence. The theories and practices that have been formulated in the book are suitable for both beginners as well as advanced athletes, complete science nerds, bodybuilders, the average Joe or Jane wanting to lose an extra few pounds, and even top-tier elite athletes. [include file=get-in-itunes.html]Dr. Jack Kruse joined us today in yet another fascinating show. As you know we have had many interesting guests but something about talking to Dr. Kruse was different. I love his story and his understanding of epigenetics, quantum theory and how it relates to our physiology and biology. We talked extensively about two protocols (he has many others which I recommend) called The Cold Thermogenesis Protocol and The Leptin Prescription. If you'd like to get $157 off of this normally $206 package click this link to watch both webinars which are exclusive to Extreme Health Radio listeners. Isn't Jack great? We talked a lot interestingly enough about the dangers of blue light, electromagnetic field radiation and how to protect yourself from these unnatural frequencies that we're being bombarded with on a daily basis. We like the products from http://www.lessemf.com (you can listen to our show with Dr. Emil De Toffol if you'd like). Dr. Jack Kruse really drilled the point in that all of these magnetic and electromagnetic frequencies are damaging our health, our hormones and even our lives. We talked also about the hormone leptin and how it ties into our body and how it gets out of balance. Without hormones you're going to have less sex drive, less motivation in life, you'll feel more depressed, store body fat and much more. Hormones are the master switches and because of exposures to plastics, blue light and other xeno estrogens and chemicals in our daily lives, our hormones are getting way out of balance. Women are going through menopause way too early, young girls are starting their menstruation cycles too early, people are having a hard time getting pregnant as well as more and more people are obese. These can all be tied back interestingly enough to blue light, radiation, chemicals and plastics which cause our hormones to go out of balance. Another interesting thing Dr. Kruse said was that he put food #4 on his list of the most important factors that are disrupting our health. Can you imagine that? We're living such plastic and artificial lives these days that food itself is #4 on the list of things to get right when you're trying to turn your health around. We must really be screwing things up in terms of our lifestyles. If food and cleansing can reverse cancer it must be powerful. But he's saying there are other things which are MORE important. I can't say that I disagree with him. Eating high quality food is critical but we're missing the mark in terms of how we live on a day to day basis. We found Dr. Kruse to be one of the most interesting guests we've ever talked with. He was entertaining, funny and very inspirational. I'm going to get a copy of the webinars for the Leptin Prescription and the Cold Thermogenesis Protocol and try them out so I can report back to you what we experience with them! I hope you enjoyed this interview with Dr. Jack Kruse. If you did would you please consider sharing this show with your friends by using the buttons at the top of this post? Once we understand stress and resilience and that it is key to take feedback from our body, we can truly experience how exercise reaches us on a deep level. Jennifer discusses how exercise and cold thermogenesis are the cornerstones of building strength and resilience. Jesse Wild joins her to discuss how to use the body as a bridge to both greater health, pain free movement and higher states of consciousness. Resilience is built from partnering with your body. With intuition, tracking our activity or technology we can see the internal state of our body that is responsible for responding to stress. Resilience is not simply being a bulldog and "toughening up". It has nothing to do with aggression and the ‘do-more' culture of high intensity exercise or sports. Resilience is about accepting what is within our control. We must tune the body back into itself and understand that the human body actually loves acute stressors. Listen in to learn about the mindset that Jenn uses and Jesse's first time in the cold water. Topics covered: A resilience mindset and why it is so important for continued progress Cold Thermogenesis Jesse's first cold plunge experience Why Jennifer and Jesse love the ice plunge practice Jesse Wild is a MAT Rx Full Body Practitioner in Utah. bengreenfieldfitness.com/daniel Meet 15 year-old prodigy . This kid first turned my head when he tagged me on Instagram sitting cross-legged and meditating in his shorts on what appeared to be a giant frozen glacier. I looked into Daniel, and it turns out he's a pretty impressive young man. Daniel currently listed as one of the World’s top 100 most influential Vegans, the most in demand Health/Nutrition Youth Keynote in the world, an Award-Winning Activist, Best-Selling Author, developer of the “” program and host of the weekly YouTube “.” Daniel has delivered 100’s of presentations since the age of 9 at conferences, expos, consumer shows, community groups, food companies, schools, institutes, non-profit organizations and continues to make headlines. But, it all started out as a bullied elementary school kid who wanted to help a few friends eat healthier. In third grade, Daniel was approached by his teacher and decided to publicly speak about his food choices. Pleasantly surprised to see how many kids began trashing their junk food and switching to healthier alternatives, Daniel was encouraged to continue spreading the message and volunteered to speak at a global rally. Little did he know that his first public talk would go viral. It became the most viewed YouTube video for the event that took place in 500 cities around the world with over 2M attendees! From that moment on Daniel began to speak on stages of leading Health events across Canada, the US and Europe. By the age of 11 he became a Signature Speaker with the largest health show franchise in Canada and published his Best Selling book “”. With “Daniel's BREAKFAST Burst” he was able to inspire more children around the world to eat a healthier breakfast than any other authority! “” was such a hit it was featured in popular magazines, radio, TV and even purchased by Hollywood celebrities. It sure got kids and parents excited about eating their way to smarts too with over a month of carefully designed breakfast meals that deliver peak nutrition for mental performance. By 12 years old Daniel was ranked in the World’s top 100 most Influential Vegans and joined the non-profit organization “Borneo Wildlife Preservation” to help raise funds and awareness to support reforestation and Pygmy Elephant conservation projects in Borneo. At 13 he was honored the Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion by Supreme Master Ching Hai and completed his long anticipated “Genius Mode” program. In his “Genius Mode - The Biology of Greatness” program and "Biology Of Greatness", Daniel shares breakthrough science on a never before discussed topic - altering our DNA to Genius. “There are ways we can go into our Genetic Code and rewrite it. Genius is something you CAN Become because it’s a built-in mechanism and there’s an exact science to doing so!” says Daniel. He reveals his daily “Hacks” we can apply to increase Brain Power, Intelligence, develop Physical and Mental Resilience and turn on our GENIUS expression. During our discussion, you'll discover: -How Daniel became an authority in nutrition at a young age...6:30 -How a bee sting led to an "aha" moment for Daniel...16:00 -Biohacks and routines in Daniel's life...24:20 -Breath protocols and foods to remain in the parasympathetic state...37:30 -The value of keeping tabs on your poop...47:05 -Little known facts about iodine...54:00 -The remainder of Daniel's routine...1:00:35 -How to alter your genius via epigenetics...1:06:00 -And much more! There are 3 kind of things in the world Fragile things break under pressure and stress Resilient things resist the shock and stay the same Antifragile things adapt to the stressor and get better Our human body is incredibly adaptable to all kinds of stimuli both physical and mental. This ability is inherent to the success of our species. Stress adaptation is a key characteristic to evolution and life - you need to be antifragile in order to adapt the changing environments. Unfortunately, our modern world is shielding us from these stressors and preventing our physiology from expressing its antifragility. Thus we become more fragile and more prone to breaking. That's the topic of today's Body Mind Empowerment Podcast with your host Siim Land. Our guest is Cristi Vlad from Romania who's an author and a self-educated programmer about nutrition, deep learning, ketosis, intermittent fasting and much more. We're going to talk about How Cristi self-taught himself human physiology, genomics, and coding What is antifragility and how does it relate to stress adaptation How does one adapt to cold and other stressors Is taking ice baths as dangerous for you as taking cyanide How I'm currently doing the one meal a day diet while working out What experiments has Cristi had with MCT oil and ketosis How to raise awareness about your weight loss goals And much more... Maria is a health and wellness expert and author of several books. She was always active in sports, even when she was a kid, but was still always on the heavy side. She thought it must’ve just been how her body’s was meant to be. It wasn’t until she studied science and nutrition that she began questioning the “standard” diet that promotes dietary grains and milk. She has since leaned towards a low-carb diet and now a ketogenic diet from which her books were now based on. Today Maria talks about how the ketogenic diet changed her life, her tips for people who want to start with a ketogenic diet, her thoughts on the vilification of fat, and how ice cold water can help boost mitochondrial health. " People underestimate the power of just being outside.” Maria Emmerich In this episode, you’ll learn: In a ketogenic diet, always count total carb and not net. She calls the ketogenic diet the happy diet due to how it improves the overall mood of the person. Sugar is inflammatory and complex carbs, what many call “healthy carbs”, become sugar in your blood stream. To lower inflammation, lower sugar intake even those from complex carbs. You can't store protein in your body. Too much will turn into sugar too especially if you're not active. Ketogenic diet will have you losing water weight and electrolytes. When you’re depressed or moody, sometimes you just have low electrolytes. One quick way to remedy that is to drink water with salt but don’t make it too salty. Maria says a when it comes to macros for losing weight, your diet should be around 5% carbs, 20% protein, and 75% fat – healthy saturated fats. This will trigger ketosis. The best cure for adrenal fatigue is 10 hours of sleep. The ketogenic diet will keep your blood sugar levels stable. No spiking, no crashing. No crashing means no sudden hunger. Ketones will get you a natural high which is like sugar but won't crash you. Mitochondria are mostly made up of water cells which you can negatively and positively charge. She advocates “EZ” water therapy which involves drinking ice cold water first thing in the morning. Key Takeaways: People would be healthier if their practitioners just asked them what they were eating. Pick new goals all the time, don't do everything overnight. Cold therapy, icing, cold exposure, cold thermogenesis, cold dieting, and cold stress are just a few of the terms used to describe this health strategy. Eric Grove, creator of the ice vest company Cool Fat Burner, joins the show to share why cold thermogenesis works and just how it affects the body at a hormonal and cellular level. He explains how it is beneficial for athletes and muscle recovery, weight loss (boosting your metabolism to over 300%), balancing your insulin and glucose levels, getting in the moment, better rest and relaxation, and increasing your brown fat (AKA good fat). We discuss the ground-breaking anti-aging and cancer research surrounding the topic of controlled cold exposure. Finally, we give you step-by-step ways on how to begin to become cold adapted, from beginner to advanced state. This is a strategy Dr. Nick Zyrowski been practicing on and off for over 15 years, and it’s one that he’s recently began incorporating into his daily life, thanks to these ice vests. When we think about fat burning... we think about heat; we think about sweat; we think about going all out. Sure, those things are synonymous with burning fat work, but what if there was another way? I was absolutely floored when I dug into the research regarding the benefits of cold thermogenesis. Not only is cold a powerful catalyst for burning fat, but the clinically proven impact on hormone function, accelerated recovery, and anti-aging effects should be something that all of us are interested in. This powerhouse episode details what I've learned in my research and personal experimentation over the last year. You're going to learn how, in a strange way, our genes respond favorably to temporary cold exposure. You're also going to learn how to take advantage of this in the least challenging, most beneficial ways. Check it out and make sure to share your thoughts and insights in the comments below. Are you hot for being cold? Click play, listen in, and let me know! In this episode you'll discover: What "net carbs" mean and what fiber really is. How contrast showers generate more "nerve force". How a Tony Robbins event sparked my interest in learning more about cryotherapy. What special type of fat can actually burn body fat. Where this special fat-burning fat is found on your body. The 3 ways you can increase your body's good fat to burn more bad fat. What the health benefits of contrast showers are. Why using cold showers to decrease libido is a myth (in fact, it might do the opposite!) How whole body cryotherapy works. How someone is able to eat 12,000 calories a day and still be shredded. The surprising impact that cold thermogenesis has on inflammation. How cryotherapy reduces pain and speeds recovery. Why your body produces more powerful antioxidants than any food you can find. The shocking impact that cryotherapy has on your hormones. Items mentioned in this episode include: Onnit.com/Model

If you haven't heard, Lance Armstrong was recently accused of doping. AIR DATE: March 22, 2012 at 7PM ETFEATURED EXPERT: FEATURED TOPIC: “All Things Thyroid (Thyroid 101)” Licensed acupuncturist and integrative medicine practitioner Chris Kresser is one of the most highly-sought after voices of reason in the realm of health on the Internet today. He has personally been through the wringer with the traditional medical system as he shared with me in But that set him on a quest to discover more about his own health by gathering and analyzing the medical research staying up-to-date on everything he could get his hands on. There are a lot of health myths that unfortunately pervade in the realm of health and Chris regularly addresses these on his highly popular and wildly-popular podcast. One area of specific interest to him is the subject of thyroid. Around 20 million Americans deal with some form of thyroid disease and yet it is left undiagnosed due to a variety of reasons. Yet there is a lot of confusion about thyroid conditions that we will hopefully have Chris help bring clarity to in this episode! LOW-CARB, GLUTEN-FREE CONDIMENTS MADE WITH STEVIVANOTICE OF DISCLOSURE: Here are some of the questions we addressed in this podcast: Are there any dietary changes that will "treat" hypothyroid? There is a meme that has spread quickly to Paleo sites that low carb causes low T3, and is a cause of hypothyroidism. How can this be? My doc who treats hypothyroidism and insulin resistance had me do low carb, and it worked. How can low carb be both the cause and part of the solution? Someone has this wrong. What is going on? CRIS ASKS:I am a 53 year old female who had a Total Thyroidectomy four years ago due to thyroid cancer. My doctor keeps me just a smidgen "hyper" with Synthroid replacement medication to help the cancer not grow back. I have lost 50 pounds. In one year on a low carb diet, I feel great. But I have been stalled for two months now. I can't seem to lose any more weight. I need to lose 50 more. I know I need thyroid replacement meds but could this be the reason I can't seem to lose anymore? JENNIFER ASKS:Which is better--natural or synthetic thyroid hormone (like Synthroid) or a combination? PAUL ASKS:When I went zero carb Paleo, my T3 dropped out of the range and I needed to take antibiotics for a mouth abscess. I resumed carbs and gained back the weight I lost. I am now trying to drive down the carbs again. What can I do to ensure that my T3 remains ok. I am hypothyroid (take 100T4 + 20T3) and I was assessed a few years back by a former family doctor as having low adrenal function. Are adrenal and thyroid metabolism related and can a low adrenal state lead to a low T3? REGINA ASKS:What is your opinion of Jack Kruse's Leptin Reset Rx and Cold Thermogenesis on the thyroid? LAUREN ASKS:I underwent a total thyroidectomy in January of 2006 following a thyroid cancer diagnosis and will be on replacement T4 (Synthroid) for the rest of my life. Are there any modifications that those of us without a thyroid need to keep in mind when following a Paleo diet? JOSH ASKS:My wife had about 90% of her thyroid removed several years ago after undergoing a thyroid storm and goiter. She's on levothyroxin and we've switched over to a Paleo diet about two years ago, and she's pretty good with adherence, especially when it comes to avoiding wheat and grains. One of my real concerns is with her long term bone health due to the thyroid removal. She currently takes anywhere from 2000mg to 3500 mg of calcium each day to combat calcium loss from her bones. She takes 5000 IU of D3 daily, as well as K2 to help with proper absorption. Her blood calcium levels are usually high, but if she doesn't take the oral supplements she gets pain in her hands, wrists, and other joints. What supplements would you recommend for proper calcium absorption? What are some good blood markers you'd like to to indicate proper function? SHARON ASKS:Can you discuss the role of antibodies (AB), both blocking and stimulating, on thyroid health? When the typical thyroid labs appear "normal", could there be an AB issue occurring, causing the autoimmune response? DONNA ASKS:Since giving up soy milk and grains (including daily wheat germ) when I started on a low-carb regimen about a year ago, my arthritis symptoms have virtually disappeared, and my thyroid started working better (I was able to lower my dosage of levothyroxine slightly). During the same period, my osteopenia has progressed to osteoporosis. The latter may just be age, but what I want to know is, could the same root cause underlie co-existing hypothyroidism, osteoarthritis and osteoporosis? PAUL ASKS:My TSH increased from 3.86 a year ago to 5.23 last month. I have no hypothyroid symptoms but my doctor want to put me on levothyroxine. Does this make sense? Other relevant blood valuesT4 free 1.09T4 total 5.9T3 uptake 38TPO antibody: 19Total cholesterol increased from 197 to 215 over last year.T total 417T free 45Free T% - 1.1%SHBG 79.6 LAURA ASKS:I am a 42-year-old female who has been eating Primal/Paleo (low to moderate carb) for over one year now (after being a vegetarian and vegan for almost my ENTIRE life). I had my one and only child almost three years ago and lost all my baby weight (and then some) by changing my eating habits. I looked so much better after changing my lifestyle, but still had low thyroid symptoms (FREEZING cold, tired, digestion issues, etc) AND it was discovered I had near zero sex hormone production (estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone). Also, I had BEYOND low Free T3 and Free T4 (TSH was all over the place, but is now quite low). I was diagnosed with hypothyroid due to a pituitary disorder. I have been put on Estradiol, Prometrium, and a small amount of topical Androgel (testosterone). I have also been taking Armour. I have gained 30 pounds thus far. I am miserable. My questions are: Do you believe in supplementing with sex hormones or should the thyroid medication be sufficient? Would daily intermittent fasting be contraindicated for someone with issues like mine (or does this stress the adrenals too much)? I want to be HEALTHY. But I cannot lie, I am so OVER being overweight. I would love to find a healthy balance. STEVE ASKS:This question is about real thyroid health vs "health on paper" (good test results). I've been treated for hypothyroid, chronic fatigue, and insulin resistance since 2007, with good results. I see a top doctor that deals with all three and they use the so-called bio-identical T3, hormones like testosterone or progesterone cream, and a lot of supplements. I lost 120 pounds quickly and look much different. My blood work went from train wreck to awesome. Weight is normal enough and I feel fine, even though I have low calorie requirements now (about 1,400 a day, and I'm male 51, 5"8, 192 pounds) My question is how do I know if I get to a point where I'm spending a lot of money on meds and supplements and maybe need to back off and let the body take over? My doc wants to keep doing what has worked. Am I broke forever, or should I think about cutting back on supplements and hormones and let the body handle more? TIRIL FROM NORWAY ASKS:I am wondering if thyroid problems is the cause of hair thinning in a woman? Are there any other causes that should be investigated as well? And what can you do as a first intervention? JAN ASKS:What thyroid tests do you recommend when weight loss has stalled? (In my case TSH is elevated but the HMO will not test T3 or rT3--is it worth paying privately for those tests to have a more complete picture of what might be going on?) PAULA ASKS:Do you have any insight on what might cause thyroid nodules? (I have several, and biopsies show them to be non-cancerous at this time. One doctor recommends surgery; another says they are nothing to worry about)

I'd love to hear your take on cold thermogenesis for general health and/or fat loss, as well as its potential use as a training/recovery tool. ~ In my response to Tom, I mention this recent Get-Fit Guy article, and my previous interview with Ray Cronise. Melanie asks: I know you had an interview regarding metabolic typing, but I wanted to know how much stock you put in the details of these type of "diets". I am a protein type and I know that is right for me, but I did the metabolic typing from the Wolcott group website and received a specific list of foods to eat and ones to avoid. Some of the ones for me to avoid are ones that are in the "eat" category in your food pyramid. For example, I'm supposed to rarely have yogurt, cabbage, berries, and completely avoid whey and broccoli. What is your opinion of the Wolcott metabolic type diet? Should I consider cross-referencing your diet and my metabolic type list and eat only what is a match? Also, along the same vein, can you quickly sum up your opinion on the Blood Type Diet? I'm a protein type on that one too, but again some of the foods you recommend would be a no for me on that one. ~ The movie Brock was thinking of is The Road To Wellville. Horacio asks: I'm about to run my first ultra running race in April, 84k Trail race in Patagonia. How fast should I run? I want to be fast but not bonk or have a cramp crisis. Last year I ran this same race but only the 42k version. I probably ran it near my anaerobic threshold or about 165-170 bpm... but for the 84k I plan to go much slower. This is my plan: I've been following Phil Mafftone's advice and I've trained mainly trying not to go over 180-age limit (that would be about 150 bpm) currently at that level I can run at 8 min/mile pace. My plan is to run with a heart monitor and not increase 150 bpm on the race. Does this makes sense? I feel that with proper fueling I should be able to make it. I'll try to eat all I can during race, about 300 calories per hour if my stomach can handle that amount of gels. Brian says: The reason I write you is I have a friend that is 23 years old and has just been diagnosed with a rare (for his young age) adeno carcinoma of the duodenum. He is going to have a short regiment of chemo before a very complex surgery to remove the mass that is about the size of two grapefruits. My question to you is, what are your thoughts on anything he can do nutritionally through food or supplementation that will give his body the support and healing power it needs. I realize you are not a medical Dr. but respect your knowledge in the nutrition realm more than most medical Dr.s :) Trevor says: I am concerned triathlete. I have ambitions bigger then what my dreams can handle but it is unfortunate that I have had my dreams squashed again. I was watching the news and saw yet another rider hit by a car from behind. I wonder, in your experience, how does the community we are a part of deal with this? I am love the sport and it has saved my life in many ways but I am worried that my obsession of being active is now becoming a threat to my life. It really sucks to see people get hit by cars and then mentally be off your game due to the vivid images of past accidents. I have been training for about two years and the first day I got on bike, a bike rider got killed in front of me. I just wanted to hear if you had anything on this. ~ In my response, I recommend the book Eyes Wide Open. Lia asks: I have signed up for my first ever event - a Tough Mudder, the inaugural Mudder in Vegas. I looked through archives on the site and didn't see any recommendations on how to train for an event like this. I have quite a bit of time because the event is not until October 6. The suggestion on the Tough Mudder website is pretty slim, and I'd love to hear what your approach would be. ~ In my response about the Tough Mudder, I reference this workout. Joe asks: I am 53 years old. In Triathlon for about 12 years (Sprint to IM). I have asked this question to many and I just get a shoulder shrug. When I started Tris, I couldn't swim, I had never biked, but was a good high school runner. I could run 51 secs for the 400m. My problem is I cant run. I can put in a solid swim and good bike but my run is poor. Stand alone times for a 1500m swim would be 25minutes for a 40km bike 65 min and for a 10km run 48 min. (non tris) I have done intervals, LT runs, hills etc, I have read all the books and have tried everything I even bought power cranks and stand alone run blocks. Why can't I run? Josh says: In a recent podcast you mentioned natural testosterone enhancement using D-aspartic acid with an aromatase inhibitor. Could you please speak a little more in depth on this subject? Including sources, dosing, detrimental effects, and whether you cycle on and off. ~ In my response to Josh, I recommend Hard Rhino D-Aspartic Acid and Myomin aromatase inhibitor. Diane asks: I'm a 53 year-old woman (120 lbs., 5 ft. 6 in. tall) and am doing an Ironman for the first time this summer. I've done two 70.3 triathlons (about 7 hours to complete), one in 2011 and one in 2010, and some sprint and Olympic distances. By my calculations I will be lucky if I finish the IM in the 17 hours, mostly because it's a hilly course (Mt. Tremblant). My question is about nutrition during the event (although I have many more questions). I anticipate taking 2 hours for the swim and I've read that it might be wise to take a gel at the half-way point during the swim. Do you think that's necessary? Because I'll be on the course for so long how should I manage my nutrition intake? Because I'm slow and working at a lower intensity should my total nutrition intake be the same as someone my size who finishes in 12 hours? Any information that you could provide in how many calories/carbs to take during a 17 hour event would be appreciated. ~ In my response to Diane, I mention these amino acids.
