El mundo actual nos ofrece una amplia gama de recetas para alcanzar la felicidad. Pero nosotros sabemos por experiencia que todas ellas terminan en fracaso. Jesús nos mostró el verdadero camino a esa felicidad soñada y siempre esquiva. Él comenzó su sermón más importante con las palabras que hoy examinamos: las bienaventuranzas, es decir, el auténtico camino a la felicidad plena, que es lo que significa bienaventuranza. Jesús desafía el éxito y la felicidad que ofrece el mundo con la pobreza espiritual como la clave para alcanzar el Reino de los Cielos y la felicidad tanto tiempo anhelada. Esta pobreza se define como el reconocimiento de la propia indigencia e insuficiencia ante la santidad de Dios, la renuncia a la autosuficiencia y la entrega total de la confianza en Él. El ejemplo de Abraham y el sacrificio de Isaac ilustran cómo es esencial que Dios ocupe el lugar central y único en el corazón, sin que ninguna posesión o relación desplace su soberanía, conduciendo así a una satisfacción duradera y una verdadera adoración.
