This Sunday, Chris kicked off part four of our Revelation series, teaching on the seven trumpets and the two witnesses. The trumpets in Revelation serve as a prophetic warning to those who don't know Jesus. We are supposed to serve as witnesses to the outside world, which means that we will encounter resistance like the 2 witnesses did. We are called to witness through faithfulness and repentance.

Revelation Dates: March, 1832 Revelation Places: Hiram, Ohio Section 77 - Historical Background: As Joseph Smith resumed revising the Bible, he came to the book of Revelation. Rather than translating or revising the revelation of John, Joseph was only allowed to inquire specific questions from the revelation. Recap: Some of the symbols used by John are explained: Sea of glass: The sanctified Earth The four beasts: Figurative expressions of happiness in heaven by all creatures created by God in their paradisical glory. Are the beasts individuals or classes: They are Individual beasts, in their glory and enjoyment. The eyes and wings of beasts: The remarkable powers in the next life of light, knowledge and capacity to move throughout the heavens. 24 Elders: Faithful ministers during John's time, who are now in paradise. Sealed book: A history of God's work during earth's 7,000 year history. 7 seals: Each seal contains a 1,000 year history of each period. 4 angels: Powerful angels sent by God to each quarter of the earth. Angel from the east: An angel to preside over the 4 angels over the earth. Timing: All to be accomplished by the end of the 6th seal (around 2000 AD) 144,000: Virtuous high priests under the direction of the 4 angels to preach the gospel throughout the nations without threat of death. Trumpet sounding: Happens when the seventh seal is opened, ushering in the return of Christ and the beginning of the millennium. Timing of Revelation, chapter 9: After opening the 7th seal, just prior to Christ's coming. Little book: John's mission to gather the tribes of Israel. 2 Witnesses: 2 prophets, who will hold off Gog and Magog from destroying Jerusalem just prior to the return of Christ the Messiah. Section 78 - Historical Background: Having already received the Law of Consecration in February, 1831, the saints had yet to properly establish storehouses for the poor. This was especially needed now that many new converts were pouring into the kingdom, many of whom were poor. Joseph was troubled over this and received this revelation. Recap: There must be organized storehouses among the saints for the poor. The Lord had referred to this need many times in prior revelations. Newel K Whitney, Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon are to covenant with each other to form a council in order to establish these affairs. Section 79 - Historical Background: This revelation was given at the Johnson home in Hiram, Ohio. Jared Carter had been a successful missionary who was again called and sent back on another mission, promising him many converts. Recap: Jared Carter is called on another mission, again to the eastern states. The comforter will inspire him and guide him to gather many converts. Section 80 - Historical Background: Revelation was given at the Johnson home at the request of Stephen Burnett. Recap: Stephen Burnett is called on a mission, and is to go with Eden Smith as a companion. Their mission destination is to go anywhere they desire, for they cannot go amiss.

Did you know that there are EXACTLY 70 WEEKS from the 7th day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread following the second Passover this year 2025 to Yom Kippur or Day of Atonement 2026? Additionally if you count the 7 Sabbaths of the Omer following the Feast of First Fruits for the Second Passover this year and then you count an additional 62 Sabbaths (as in Daniel 9:25 says 7 weeks or 7 sevens i.e. 7 sabbaths & 62 weeks, sevens or sabbaths that's 69 sabbaths from the feast of first fruits for the second Passover this year) you come to Yom Teruah or Feast of Trumpets 2026 which is ON THE 69TH Sabbath after the feast of First Fruits! All throughout scripture prophecy most times has a long plan and then a short plan. The long plan is always first and the fulfillment may be in the distant future, and you don't know the day or the hour that it will be fulfilled. Then the short plan is very often revealed, including the date of its coming fulfillment once you get really close to its time. So, there can be two timelines for one prophecy or set of prophecies, a long plan and a short plan, a far plan and a near plan. Consider Noah who began building his boat 120 years before the flood came. He knew it was going to come, he just didn't know when that was the long plan, but then the short plan was revealed to him seven days before the flood came. As the time of fulfillment neared, he was told exactly what day it would start to rain. Same thing with the exodus from Egypt. The long plan was revealed to Abraham, Isaac, and then Jacob. As they got closer to going to Egypt, the plans became more distinct. Abraham saw it afar off, and Jacob actually went to Egypt. But still, it was a long plan… the rest of 400 years before they would know exactly when the exodus was coming. Then, when Moses came back from the desert, he revealed the short plan and they knew exactly when they were going to leave, the night of Passover. Same thing with Daniel 9, all of Daniel's visions actually, but Daniel 9:24-27 is what we're specifically dealing with in part 1 of this message regarding verse 24's long plan of 3500 years and in part 2 verses 25's and 27's short plan of 70 actual weeks of days.

His work has garnered numerous awards including the Stafford/Hall Oregon Book Award and the Stan and Tom Wick Poetry Prize, along with fellowships from organizations including the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, the National Parks Service, and the James Merrill House, among others. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Blount Scholars Program at the University of Alabama.Brigit Pegeen Kelly was born in 1951 in Palo Alto, California. Her first book, To the Place of Trumpets, won the Yale Younger Poets Prize and was published in 1987. Her poems appeared in Best American Poetry, The Nation, The Yale Review, The Gettysburg Review, The Southern Review, and others. She won awards and fellowships from the Poetry Society of America, the Whiting Foundation, and the Academy of American Poets. Her third book, The Orchard, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. We've already come close to proving that the named orchestra leader on this album probably doesn't exist. I discussed that mystery in Volume 199: Tea and Trumpets. But the man who wrote all of the tunes on this album most certainly existed. He wrote the scores for more than 30 stage and film musicals. Many of those songs have been performed and recorded by some of the most famous artists in history. So, get ready to hear memorable show tunes from one of the most memorable composers in history performed by a band leader that nobody has any memory of in Volume 235: Still Stanley. In The Still Of The Night Cole Porter wrote the song "In The Still Of The Night" for the 1937 MGM film Rosalie. This film was an adaptation of the 1928 musical of the same name. The song was introduced by Nelson Eddy in the movie.  You're The Tops Cole Porter wrote the song "You're The Top" for his musical Anything Goes. This musical debuted on Broadway in 1934. "You're The Top" is one of the show's most well-known songs.  I've Got You Under My Skin Cole Porter wrote "I've Got You Under My Skin" for the 1936 musical film, Born to Dance. Virginia Bruce performed the song in the film.  Medley: C'est Magnifique-Paris Night Cole Porter wrote the song "C'est Magnifique" for his 1953 musical Can-Can.  Begin The Beguine Cole Porter wrote the song "Begin the Beguine" for the Broadway musical Jubilee.  The song was first introduced to the public in October 1935 by June Knight in the original production of the musical.  Anything Goes Cole Porter wrote the musical Anything Goes which premiered on Broadway in 1934. She currently plays lead trumpet in the pit orchestra of the hit Broadway musical Death Becomes Her (2024). Her other lead trumpet Broadway credits include Mr. Saturday Night - starring Billy Crystal (2022); Some Like it Hot (2023) and Suffs (2024). Off Broadway credits include Tappin' Thru Life – starring Maurice Hines (2016). Liesl is a twenty-one year veteran of the United States Army: In 2000, she won a national audition and became the first female lead trumpet player to be selected by any premier military unit when she won the lead chair with the US Army Blues. In 2012, she repeated this feat when she won the lead chair in the US Army Jazz Ambassadors, a second premier unit - something not done by anyone (male or female), prior or since. Liesl deployed twice with the Sergeant Major of the Army and the Third Army to Afghanistan and Iraq (2002; 2004). Additionally, Liesl was the lead trumpet player for the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra in Washington, D.C. (2004 – 2022).  She is a charter member of the all-woman big band The Diva Jazz Orchestra (1993 – present) based in New York City.  Liesl attended college at both Appalachian State University (Boone, NC) and The University of Cincinnati—College Conservatory of Music (Cincinnati, OH). She studied trumpet with Bill Adam, Pat Harbison and Joe Phelps. In 2004 and 2005, Liesl performed with the WDR Big Band in Cologne, Germany, recording with the ensemble and Conductor/Chief Arranger Michael Abene and guest artist Joe Lovano.  Additionally, she has performed on various recordings including projects by the Army Blues and Jazz Ambassadors, Sherrie Maricle and the Diva Jazz Orchestra, the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, Victor Goines Big Band, Ed Palermo Big Band, various original Broadway cast recordings, as well as many others. Liesl currently resides in upstate, New York with her husband, Kenny Rampton, and her daughter, Lauren.
