Send us a Text Message. We have those same family members, who I like to call repeat offenders, who constantly ask for money, and half of the time, we give it knowing we have something else in mind for our money. But now we have given it away, so we have to put our plans on the back burner. It's time to stop with the nonsense because we have done enough. Managing Conflicts: Relational Wisdom from the Book of ProverbsJames Long, Jr. / https://jameslongjr.org/Relational Wisdom from the Book of Proverbs / Emotion; Conflict; Peacemaking Message ExpositionProverbs on Conflicts• Conflicts often occur because we fail to listen to God and reject His counsel (Proverbs 1:28-33; 2:1-6).• We are called to trust the Lord's instructions and disciplines. The benefits of trusting and following God are more precious than any earthly gain and will lead to peace and true life. Hold fast to God, and you will be blessed (Proverbs 3:11-18).• We must be careful not to have unnecessary conflicts and avoid those that provoke them (Proverbs 3:29-30; 4:20-27).• A person who causes strife and stirs up trouble among God's people is destined for God-ordained disaster and destruction (Proverbs 6:12-19).• The person who wants to be wise must examine their hearts in order to properly respond to rebuke, instruction, and correction (Proverbs 9:7-10; 10:8; 10:17; 11:2; 12:1; 12:15-16; 13:13-14; 13:19-20). • We must be careful of how we speak. Your words are a mirror of your heart. And our words reveal your tendency to hurt or heal or to bring the greatest harm (death) or the greatest good (life) (Proverbs 15:28; 11:9, 11; 12:18; 14:25; 15:4; 16:24, 28; 18:21) Twelve Ways to Spot a Fool Getting to the Root of Critical Judgments• Selfishness• Pride• Self-righteousness• Insecurity• Jealousy• Self-pity• Prejudice• Unforgiveness• Lack of loveThe Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ Brings Peace_______________ABOUT JAMES AND LESSONS FOR LIFEAre you longing to find answers to the deeper issues of life? On this edition of The Virtual Bible Study we talk about unity. How can we preserve the unity God demands of us?
Are we capable of change? Kid Loki sure hopes so as Asgard explodes into flames in the climactic Journey Into Mystery storyline, "Everything Burns." While his past self literally infects his brain, taking the shape of the devilish magpie Ikol, Loki attempts to rectify his sins by making a few new ones. And in the telling, we come face to face with everything we love and hate about comics. Helping us unpack Loki's deceptive self-loathing strategy, we're using Ellen Michaud's "Twelve Ways to Forgive Yourself for a Past Mistake" found on Prevention.com. Issues covered in this episode: Journey into Mystery issues 642 - 645 and The Mighty Thor Volume 2, issues 18 - 22. They're scripted by Kieron Gillen and Matt Fraction, illustrated by Alan Davis, Carmine di Giandomenico, and Stephanie Hans, inked by Mark Farmer, Barry Kitson, Jay Leisten, and Hans, colored by Javier Rodriguez, Chris Sotomayor, Wil Quintana, and Hans, and lettered by VC's Joe Sabino and VC's Clayton Cowles. We also recommend reading Kieron Gillen's Tumblr post explaining why he ended Journey Into Mystery in the manner he chose. Find it by clicking HERE. In today's show, I am so excited to talk about how to ignite your brand online using your personal brand photos. It may feel uncomfortable to post so many personal branding photos of yourself but today, I'm going to dive into the many ways that your brand photos can make an impact and help you grow your business. Before we begin, I want to take a step back and recap on what a personal brand is: A personal brand is the perception portrayed of who you are, your values, your skills, and your vibe. It's your story, your sense of beliefs and attitudes. How you promote yourself will shape your personal brand and that is why the secret is to be authentically you. It may sound cliche but by being yourself, you will attract your ideal clients who want to work with YOU and align with your mission, values, and vibe. Think about it this way, there may be many businesses offering the same products or services as you but there is only one of YOU, you are unique and that is what makes your brand stand out. In a personal brand photoshoot, we capture your essence and showcase your brand vibe and various perspectives of the business owner in action. “A personal brand is the perception portrayed of who you are, your values, your skills, and your vibe. It's your story, your sense of beliefs and attitudes, so how you promote yourself will shape your personal brand, and that is why the secret is to be authentically you.” - Nathalie Amlani, Founder of Pictonat CreativeYou've made the investment in getting a batch of on-brand photos of yourself and your business and you may be thinking… now what? Yesterday, after a terrible sleep and feeling low on energy, I was in a dilemma. Perhaps you can relate?Part of me wanted to just hide away, be offline and bury my head, and part of me was like: "Nope Nat, as hard as this, you need to show up right now, you need to be a leading learner, and you need to support people who are in need". So I spent almost 5 hours, while being with loved ones at the hospital, to focus on a solution, and do what I do best, or at least what I know I can do.... I researched, wrote and published a definitive blog post on 12 Ways to Earn Income Even During a Crisis or RecessionSpecifically I cover off on: The Key Industries that Survive and Thrive in a RecessionHow to Make Opportunities Out of DespairThe Two Best Methods to Earn Revenue Regardless of What’s Going On In The World!Twelve Ways to Get Paid to Be You and Earn Multiple Revenue StreamsExceptionally Handy Resources to Help You Even FurtherI'd love you to read it and if it helps you share it with people who need it too.Head to NatalieSisson.com/12ways for the full episode in blog format. Join Genie and Debi in today’s show as we discuss Louise Hay’s famous, “12 Ways to Love Yourself”. Loving yourself is the foundation for loving life. This topic bears repeating since life is always changing and we are always growing and stepping outside our comfort zones. Positive change in all areas of life comes from loving yourself. So, ask yourself, what habits can you start to cultivate to bring more love into all areas of your life?
This week's episode sees Rob and Matt providing twelve tried and tested methods to obtain more direct-to-vendor leads. The more leads you have, the more access you have to prospective deals. From leafleting to letting agents, The Property Nomads have employed numerous strategies over the years. Today, they will share their top tips with you! Sign Up For MSOPI Here: https://bit.ly/msopi-nomad KEY TAKEAWAYS Leafleting – By focusing on a specific area that you are interested in, you can specifically target and attract leads. It is also important to monitor your progress and success as and when it happens. Remember, if you don't have the time to do it yourself, you can always hire someone to do it for you! Bandit Boards and Road Signs - Make sure you check with your local council on the rules surrounding this. Be creative! Even the height of a sign can make all the difference in the world. Lettings Agents - Build a good relationship with lettings agents, and if they spy potential leads or clients who are discussing offloading their portfolios, they'll pass them along to you. Consistency is key. Car Logos and Trailers - Car logos are memorable, and the more you drive, the more access you have to reaching a larger area. Social Media – Social media channels collect specific data which can allow you to gain an overview of a person's life story. Utilise this information to target specific demographics and reach potential clients in a far more cost-effective way. Website - Treat your website as your online business card, but with benefits. Include a form on your site that'll allow people to register their interest in selling which can open up another avenue for finding leads. Direct-to-Vendor Letters - These are very effective, but should be used with caution. Approaching a potential lead unsolicited goes against the Land Registry and GDPR regulations, so you must make sure that these are not addressed directly to an individual but to address it to ‘The Owner/Occupier'. Word of Mouth - Get out there and tell everyone. Get the word out and eventually, you'll be recognised as an expert in your field. Be enthusiastic about what you say. Networking - Not only does this generate leads, but also potentially increases your power team. It can also allow you to meet investors or prospective portfolio owners. Branded Clothing - Wearing your logo can add a level of authenticity to your business. It also sparks interest, and you never know where a conversation may lead. Radio Advertising - You'll be surprised at how many people you can reach through your local radio station. In terms of cost, it may be far more reasonable than you think. Newspaper Advertising – Fewer people are reading newspapers, but it remains a strong marketing strategy with the older generation. This demographic is definitely worth appealing to, as they often have properties to sell of offer. BEST MOMENTS ‘It's all about consistency' ‘If you can build rapport with lettings agents, you'll never know what's going to pop on their doorstep' ‘Keep everything interlinked' ‘You're a marketing machine!' ‘You never know where a conversation will lead' VALUABLE RESOURCES The Property Nomads Website The Property Nomads Podcast – iTunes The Property Nomads - Stitcher Buy To Let: How To Get Started – By Rob Smallbone (Amazon) ABOUT THE HOST Rob Smallbone, Rachael Taylor and Matt McSherry, the hosts of The Property Nomads Podcast, are on a global mission to guide your success. Anyone who has a passion to live will do anything it takes not to die. When it comes to battling against the deadly effects of sin in our lives, the Bible says we should be willing to cut off our hand or gouge out our eye if they cause us to sin. Obviously, this was intended to be figurative, but it does reveal how ruthlessly and radically God expects us to deal with sin. God broke the power of sin over us by killing His Son Jesus in our place, but He has called us to kill the indwelling, ongoing sin that remains in our lives by the power of His Spirit. This is known as mortification, which refers to our duty to kill sin before it kills us. There are TWELVE WAYS to mortify sin in your life.

We love technology. We often find ourselves excited by new tech and devices and trinkets. And Christians have always been in favor of technological advancement. It's part of our convictions around being made in God's image - that we were made to create! But all tech comes with a cost because all tech changes us. In this episode, Trevor and Jon Hyatt begin part 1 of a conversation about Tony Reinke's book, "12 Ways Your Phone is Changing You." Reinke writes: “[I]s my smartphone a hostile enemy? Is it a cultural trinket? is it a legitimate tool? Those are a few of the questions we examine in the pages ahead. Our phones have concentrated powerful technology into a little device we control with our thumbs… All of these realties are changing us; there's no debate on that. The bigger questions remain: How are our smartphones changing us? and should we be concerned?" (p.39) How are we being changed? Give us a listen! In this episode of the Truth for Teachers podcast, we're talking strategies for dealing with complainers at work so negative colleagues don't impact your enthusiasm for the job. Whether it’s in the teacher’s lounge, staff meetings, or just passing one another in the hallway, even a short conversation with a negative teacher can be totally draining. Everyone complains occasionally and no one is going be positive all the time ... this episode targets constant complaining or venting. Ultimately what we’re talking about here is dealing with people who are nonstop, chronic complainers, or people who rarely, if ever, are looking for solutions, and they will likely shoot down any ideas you offer because they’re just wanting to complain. I’m going to share 12 ways you can head off chronically complaining coworkers at the pass! Click here to read or share the transcript and audio or participate in the discussion.

So many teachers have English language learners in class, but the teachers have no training in how to support them. In this episode, I gather tips from three ESL teachers for the most effective ways regular classroom teachers can support these students.
The first quote was contributed by my brother, Darrell Holbrook. Joycelyn Elders, president Clinton’s surgeon general. "…most of the people that die with heart disease and cancer are our elderly population, you know, and we all will probably die with something sooner or later." Most of us hope to die later rather than sooner. The idea of a “full life” is quite appealing. It seems that there is much less sympathy for an elderly person dying as opposed to a child or anyone short of 40. Granted, many older people who are in the throes of diseases such as heart disease and cancer will tell you they are ready to die and wonder why they are allowed to drag on and on. Tell me, at what age is it categorically expected that you have lived long enough and your passing is not as important as someone younger? Many people would choose the biblical estimate of “3 score and ten” or 70 years. My father is 80 years old. He is in great health and takes a long exercise walk every day. He has been happily married to my mother for well over 50 years and has many things to look forward to. Does his 80 years mean that it is more fitting for him to pass on than the average 20 year old? As a son who loves him and my mother both, it is easy to say no to this, but a yes may easily come from someone who doesn’t know him or the amazingly influential life he has lived. The aforementioned 20 year old could be a rapist or murderer. Or a minister, or a person who may have been president. What if they were doing something truly stupid that led directly to their death and maybe one or two others in the bargain? All this being said, what right do we have to decide who actually “deserves” to live and die?We really don’t mean to be cruel, but it is so easy with strangers to draw generalities and give the thumbs up or down, like in the Roman games. Human life at any stage is sacred. Old or young, we all want to live, and have a primeval imperative to want life to continue. There is also the issue of what a person could accomplish if they did live. Whatever your feeling on abortion, a cartoon I saw can offer food for thought. It had a man shaking his fist toward heaven, yelling, “….and why haven’t you sent us a cure for cancer?” Then a voice came out of the cloud that said, “I did, but you aborted it.” Human potential is amazing at all ages. Let’s all work together to maximize it, no matter how old or young a package it comes in. http://www.notablebiographies.com/Du-Fi/Elders-Joycelyn.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joycelyn_Elders -------------------------------------------- Martin Yan “So when I do Chinese cooking, I mix everything together, then the kids have to eat their vegetables. They won't have the patience to pick them out.” What method do you use when someone really needs to do something for their own good, but need convincing of the importance of it? Most egotistical persons immediately go right to the nuclear option, the direct order. If you move in hard and fast, they will so shocked they will obey out of habit and fear. Sometimes this will get the job done at this moment, but does little to foster a good relationship and does absolutely nothing to change the habits of those you are lording over. They will just wait for the next order before they move again, since you have taken the place of their conscience and have taken from them the responsibility of correct behavior. There is another way, a better way I think. What if you can make them WANT to do this? It is much more simple than you think. If you pay a little bit of attention to human behavior and adapt your tactics, you can have large scale success that will help those you are in charge of learn and repeat good habits. That way you can be confident they are behaving correctly when your back is turned. Dale Carnegie published a book in 1936 called ‘How to Win Friends and Influence People’. It has sold 15 million copies worldwide, and is still in print. Here is my Twelve Ways to Situational Awareness wish list. I hope you have all of them on Christmas day and every day throughout the year. 12: Communications skills: This includes both listening and speaking skills. Flawed communications is a significant barrier to situational awareness. I’ve written about this in numerous articles, including some suggestions for how to improve communications. Click on the “Categories” box on the right hand side of the page and enter “Communications” to see the articles on this topic. In the early days, they used to communicate by banging drums. Now we have handheld computers. Yet we’re still plagued by communications challenges. There are many opportunities for improvement in this arena. 11. Vigilance: To be vigilant is to be on-guard. Always on-guard. Your imagination isn’t good enough to think of all the ways this job can kill you. Being alert, even when it seems like things are routine. That is the mindset of a survivalist. Nero may have fiddled while Rome burned and eleven pipers may have piped for Christmas. Play whatever instrument you want. Just be sure you do it with your guard up. Always! 10. Avoiding judgment: The judging mind cannot learn. When you jump to conclusions about how firefighters are getting hurt and killed you miss some very important lessons about how things unfolded around them – why things made sense at the moment things went wrong. This Christmas season the lords may be leaping. But keep your feet planted firmly on the ground. No jumping to conclusions. 9. Ask the hard questions: When your department has a near miss or a casualty event, don’t dance around the issue. Address the issues head-on. Near miss casualty events are wonderful learning opportunities. If you’re going to do any dance, make it a safety dance, not the denial dance. The moves for the safety dance result in learning, enlightenment and change. The moves for the denial dance produce anger, resentment and blame. 8. Debrief: There is a lesson to learn after every incident. Even when things go well there are lessons to be learned. Milk every opportunity to learn and share. If you can’t think of one, come up with a “what-if” scenario to discuss – discussing how things might have turned out if the circumstances were just slightly different. Don’t be shy. Grab the teat and give it a squeeze. 7. Know your limitations: Understand and respect the limits of your conscious awareness: The average person can only capture, process, comprehend and recall 7 pieces (+/- 2) of unrelated information. Unless something happens fast to get the information on the fast track to long-term storage, it will be quickly forgotten. As you plan how to assess emergency scenes, think about the 5-7 most critical pieces of information you need to make a good decision. 6. Practice: To be proficient at hands-on skills, you need to practice them. A lot. Muscles learn from muscle movement. They don’t learn from verbal instructions. The Geese may be laying, but if you want to improve your safety (and your skill set) you can’t do it laying around. Get off your rumps and train. 5. Recipe from Hell’s Kitchen: There is a predictable pattern of events I have seen play out time and time and time again, resulting in first responder fatalities. Avoid the five C’s that make up the Recipe from Hell’s Kitchen (enter the term in the search box to find the article): Complacency ->No Consequence -> Over Confidence -> Cocky Attitude -> Catastrophe. 4. Adopt an attitude of safety. It makes me sick to hear people say we’re being too safe or too cautious in our approach to this job. Yes, it’s a dangerous profession, but MANY of the ways firefighters are dying are preventable – VERY preventable. Pause right now and think of four people whose lives would be forever changed if you died on the job. Be sure that the risks you take on this job are worth the potential consequences on the lives that will be forever changed if you die. 3. Crawl-Walk-Run: All too often we want to train on advanced skills without mastering the basic skills. I encourage you to adopt the three part Crawl-Walk-Run approach to training. Start with a slow crawl through the basic movements of an activity, discussing the how and why in detail. Then walk through the sequence of events in segments. Stopping along the way to make course corrections if needed. Then, once the first two steps are mastered. Run! Run the full evolution beginning to end. If you get it right, run it again, and again. If you don’t get it right, back up to the walk phase and make corrections in the segments. It’s as simple as 1-2-3: Crawl-Walk-Run. 2. Use Command Teams: Firefighting crews always work in teams of at least two. But the commanders are often left to fend for themselves – working alone in a very high-stress environment. This is a set-up for failure. Strive to ensure command runs in teams of at least two as well. 1. Conduct 360-degree size ups: The thorough 360-degree size-up is the foundation of incident situational awareness. It allows you to figure out what the problem is before you go throwing solutions around. It can be very helpful to find out the solution you are planning to implement isn’t going to fix the problem… before things go wrong.
1 John 2:1-9. Series: Real Life Christian. Part 2. Why do we follow God's commands? "The time I almost beat a kid on the street with my baseball bat named Otis, Twelve Ways to Ruin Your Children, what we do with Old Testament commands, the embarrassment of failed Martial Arts demonstrations, and how to know God without knowing Him." 10-21-12
