A quarter century after she graduated, Martha Covington is still one of the best hitters in Campbell and Atlantic Sun Conference softball history. The fast pitch era of Campbell's softball program was less than a decade old in 1996 when Martha first stepped into the left-handed batter's box. She immediately showed Campbell fans that a hitter could display power without sacrificing contact. She shattered the school records for doubles, home runs, total bases and RBI. She set a school mark for slugging percentage, and her .429 batting average is second all-time in Campbell history. Martha was a four-time Atlantic Sun first-team all-conference performer, three-time All-Southeast Region selection and a 3-time ASun batting champ. It's no surprise that she was a member of this year's Campbell Athletics Hall of Fame induction class. In the next episode of Tales from the Creek, Martha Covington chats with Stan Cole about her love of the outdoors, her path to Campbell, how a strong work impacted her performance, and more. Suggestions for future Tales from the Creek interview subjects are always welcome and may be sent to Stan Cole at cole@campbell.edu.

Around this time every year, dozens of parents of high school prospects ask IL's Terry Foy some version of the question, "How does recruiting work?" In an effort to round out that answer, he's interviewing a series of DI men's lacrosse coaches about their process, continuing with Mercer head coach Ryan Danehy. With a career as an assistant that included stops in the Big Ten, Ivy and Patriot Leagues and nearly two years as the national director for one of the sport's biggest high school club networks, Danehy has a wealth of perspectives as he's now in year three as a head coach in the ASUN. As a result, Danehy and Foy cover a wave of topics, probably mostly focused on the role geography plays in his strategy, but also touching on things like NIL and the future of DI lacrosse.

Right when celebrating the big-time win over Duke slowed down, Kentucky got to pick it right back up again with yet another blowout victory — this time over the Lipscomb Bisons, the projected winner of the ASUN. Jaxson Robinson got back on track with a 20-point effort while Lamont Butler and Otega Oweh were the other standouts (plus Travis Perry and Trent Noah minutes to put a bow on things at the end of regulation). How big was it to not let the Champions Classic win linger — or the fact that Mark Pope doesn't believe in trap games at all? Where do things stand with the analytics nationally as it relates to the team's chances to make a run? Sources Say is back and better than ever, ready to break it all down Tuesday night on the KSR YouTube page. The College Basketball Experience (@TCEonSGPN) of the Sports Gambling Podcast Network releases their Atlantic Sun Conference College Basketball Preview for the 2024-25 season. On the show Ryan McIntyre (@Moneyline_Mac) and Noah Bieniek (@NoahB77_) break down every single ASUN basketball team and key in on how they think the conference race will shake out. Last year Eastern Kentucky won the regular season and Stetson won the conference tournament and played in the Big Dance. The Hatters lose all six of their top scorers and EKU returns only 23.6% of their minutes. How far of a step back will each program take this season? Welcome to Division I West Gerogia Wolves! Lipscomb returns a lot of production from their explosive offense last season. Tony Pujol and North Alabama won the transfer portal. Jacksonville has one of the best defenses in the ASUN. Florida Gulf Coast has outstanding program pedigree. Austin Peay is on the right path as a program under Head coach Corey Gipson. After losing Chaz Lanier how good will North Florida be this year? Which team that finished in the basement last season have the best chance of climbing out of it? Can Scott Davenport and Bellarmine prove that last year was just a fluke because of all the injuries? Can Queens be the ASUN's Cinderella this year? In a new regime led by John Shulman can Central Arkansas buck the trend of under .500 seasons? Mac and Bieniek finish the Atlantic Sun Conference College Basketball Preview with some takes. What are their projected standings at the end of the year? The guys also provide their ASUN Basketball sleepers and bust predictions.
