It's the year of the villain! While Wildstorm characters have been a part of DC's Prime Earth since 2011, they've had many false starts and misteps. This episode focuses on the morally grey (anti?) heroes, WildC.A.T.s, and how they fit (or don't) into the larger picture of DC. While Matthew Rosenberg and Steven Segovia's new run has been fairly well-received, can it win over new readers?

Gelesen wurden die US Hefte The Kindred (Vol. 1) #1-4, in deutschen Landen unpubliziert.
Vom Sommerloch unbeeindruckt: Thorstens Blog. Entspannende Intromusik von Markus Schneider.

Superstar penciler Jim Lee adopted less revolutionary rhetoric than some of his fellow Image founders after leaving Marvel Comics, but he became one of the most successful of the group, growing his WildStorm Productions imprint into a publishing empire. WildC.A.T.s, Lee's first Image offering from 1992, takes his and co-creator Brandon Choi's love of spy fiction and channels it into something that would have looked very familiar to fans of Lee's X-Men. We look at WildC.A.T.s' expansive cast and ask, “How much mysterious backstory is too much mysterious backstory?” We'll also look at Lee's continued career at Image, his brief return to Marvel, and finally on up to today as head honcho of DC Comics.

Jace and Rocky from ComicBoom! talk about the DC titles for the week of November 14, 2023. We reach the end of the road for WildC.A.T.s which sets up a new status quo for the team moving forward, but when we might see them again, it is too soon to say. We also have the end of The Vigil, which gives some Planetary vibes, so some Wildstorm inspired storytelling there as well and we can't wait to read more of that story. Speaking of Planetary, throw in some Authority overlap and you have the debut issue of the latest iteration of The Outsiders, plus Green Lantern continues to be action-packed, Danger Street mantains its excellence as does Detective Comics. Plus the world and character building in Sandman is top-notch. Join us to hear about these books and more!

Acomi and Turk182 travel to Chicago, Illinois to see the super freak fighting super-cop, Savage Dragon. A winner (2 season run) in the super hero/comic book animation push of the mid-90s, Erik Larsen's Image comics crime fighter takes on bad guys with a smile and bad jokes. Voiced by talented voice actor Jim Cummings, he's the friendliest cop you'll every meet; with green skin, bulging muscles, and a huge fin on his head. Aimed directly at a market younger than the comic book source, the Savage Dragon cartoon positions itself at the opposite end of it's source spectrum. Comedic violence, inept villains, equally inept cops, simple plots, and bad puns make it too mesmerizing to not watch. Plagued with the same rushed animation flaws as other comic book to cartoon series such as Jim Lee's WildC.A.T.S and Malibu's Ultraforce, episodes contain unfinished cells, horrible continuity, reused scenes, incorrect coloring, and rough editing. Join Acomi and Turk as they gleefully watch a show that's so good at being bad you don't want to look away. Acomi and Turk182, along the occasional special guest, provide running commentary of awfulsome movie and TV shows. The hosts select movies that either one, or both, have never seen. All jokes and comments are improvised. NO PREPARED JOKES OR COMMENTS! During recording, the movies are watched at a low volume and with the subtitles on. Viewers may want to turn subtitles on as well to enhance the viewing experience. So, cue up the audio, ready the movie, and hit play when we say so. Note: This video is the commentary recorded by Acomi and Turk182, and selected screenshots. It is NOT a viewable copy of the film. The commentary can be enjoyed on its own, but if you want to experience the Let's Watch in all its glory, you'll need your own copy of the movie. Most of the movies viewed can be streamed online for free. #OMTWF #KorovaEntertainment #LetsWatch #LW #Acomi #Turk182 #awfulsome Follow Acomi on Twitter at @AcomiDraws and on Instagram at AcomiDraws. Wildcats volume 2 and Wildcats Version 3.0 by Joe Casey, Sean Phillips, and Dustin Nguyen (and their other collaborators) took a moribund property that had the reputation for being lowbrow and transformed it into something truly exceptional. With enough creative freedom, Casey and his artistic collaborators were able to turn the WildC.A.T.s concept on its head and leave a mark on the landscape of American superhero comics. The passage of time cannot diminish the potency of their work, and we're here to encourage everyone to reread and re-examine this run - or read and discover it for the first time.
