In this conversation, Keltie speaks with Gabrielle Salamone, a licensed clinical social worker specializing in OCD and anxiety. The two of them discuss... Tokophobia, a severe fear of childbirth, and its implications on women's mental health and parenting decisions. The importance of addressing fears surrounding childbirth, and therapeutic approaches to overcoming these fears. The importance of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and ERP (exposure response prevention) techniques and how "worry stories" can help alleviate and manage anxiety.  Gabrielle's personal journey with being on the fence, and navigating infertility. As mentioned in the show: Find Gabrielle — and US-based therapy — online at therapyforwomencenter.com. Gabrielle's Instagram is @livewellwithgabrielle. About Gabrielle: Gabrielle Salomone, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who is from outside of Philadelphia PA. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and then a few years later her Masters in Social Work, both from Widener University. She currently is the clinical director at Therapy for Women Center which is based in Philadelphia. The practice has 3 offices in the Philadelphia area, one opening soon in New Jersey and they have therapists available virtually in 42 states including DC! Besides being a part of the day-to-day running of the group practice Gabrielle is also a therapist and continues to work with clients. Gabrielle has experience working in just about every area of mental health treatment, at every level of treatment, and with clients across all ages. She specializes in working with clients struggling with life transitions, eating disorders, anxiety, and OCD. Gabrielle has received training through working at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, The Renfrew Center and Roger's Behavioral Health. As a therapist, Gabrielle believes that therapy is not one size fits all, which is why she uses a person-centered approach. She practices from the theoretical orientation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, focusing on how thoughts and feelings impact our behaviors and incorporating exposure therapy to change behaviors and working with clients on incorporating back into one's life enjoyable activities, routines and value-based goals that have decreased or are being avoided due to the eating disorder/anxiety/OCD. Gabrielle provides a safe and comfortable atmosphere and she believes in building trusting therapeutic relationships with all her clients. __ Join one of our April Support Series sessions: Kids or Childfree Support Series: kidsorchildfree.com/kids-or-childfree-support-series Confidently Childfree Support Series: kidsorchildfree.com/confidently-childfree-support-series Check out our free resources here, or at kidsorchildfree.com/free-resources And don't forget to subscribe, rate, and review The Kids or Childfree Podcast if you love what you're hearing! I'm a step-mom and struggling to figure out if I want kids of my own — what to do? How do I navigate my relationships with my mom friends as a childfree woman? Let's get curious about our drinking habits! In this episode of The Happier Life Project we are looking at the role alcohol plays in our life; as a comforter, socializing tool, way to relax, blow off steam, or avoid uncomfortable emotions.   Guest Amanda E. White is a licensed therapist and the creator of the popular Instagram account @therapyforwomen Amanda also hosts the podcast “Recovered-ish” and is author of the book “Not Drinking Tonight” and its corresponding workbook. Not Drinking Tonight isn't a manuscript to help you stop drinking. Not Drinking Tonight is the first book to help you address the root issues that cause you to reach for a drink, while helping you unpack your relationship with alcohol.   Chatting to host Gabby Sanderson, Amanda discusses why you don't need to hit rock bottom - or label yourself an alcoholic - to review your relationship with booze and make some positive changes to your drinking habits. Amanda also chats with Gabby about some of the most common reasons people turn to the bottle, and why it often tends to be more about the ritual leading up to taking that first sip, such as popping the cork when the girls come over, or kicking back after a long day and pouring yourself a glass, or switching on the match and opening a can, that is the most satisfying part.   Amanda also touches upon the effect alcohol plays on our mental health and addresses the myth that a glass of something a day is actually good for us (spoiler alert, research has since dispelled). Gabby and Amanda talk about the pros and cons of taking part in dry (or damp) January and Amanda explains how by removing alcohol, we have the opportunity to build a life we don't want to escape from.   “Alcohol is the only drug on earth you have to justify NOT taking.” Annie Grace   Amanda is the founder of the group therapy practice, Therapy for Women Center, based in Philadelphia serving clients across the US. Valeria Teles interviews Hamideh Taraki  — she is a Life Coach and Theta Healer. Hamideh Taraki was born in Tehran, Iran, and she was a witness to the Revolution and the War with Iraq. Challenging life after the war and the bad financial decisions of her father made her think more about happiness and success. Hamideh became an observer. She loved reading books and psychology, philosophy, anthropology were her favorites. Thirsty for knowing other cultures, Hamideh had chosen BA in French Translation. After graduation, besides my daily job, she was translating books and articles during nights and weekends. Her books have been published by famous publishers in Tehran. Still, Hamideh wasn't feeling happy or satisfied. At that time, she was feeling a heavy pressure on her shoulders. She was all the time scared of the future, and it gave her a kind of anxiety. Something inside Hamideh was pushing her to go faster but towards where? What was my purpose? Finally, the pressures made her sick, a strange strong headache behind her left ear. She couldn't sleep anymore. Hamideh was taking painkillers for a while. She was forcing herself to keep going. In 2007, Hamideh immigrated to Montreal, Canada. Seeking her real purpose in life and her highest passion, she took every opportunity and help. She was always passionate about lots of things, she was starting them passionately, but Hamideh was bored after a while. So, she came back to university. For four years, she was going from one field to another, finally, when she was in Job Counseling, she found her place. But her headaches became worse. Doctors couldn't find anything. Suddenly, she was crushed. Hamideh had to stop everything. She used to be a blamer, projecting the problems to others, her parents, situations, society, politicians, etc. She was full of resentments. Non-stop headaches and a very low level of energy made her stop every activity in her life. Hamideh couldn't even read a book. So, she has been forced to have lots of silent moments, she listened to motivational audios and videos. That was her transformational time. Hamideh recognized a kind of power inside her that had always guided her. She learned to look differently, to ask the universe different questions. As soon as she made her decision to be healthy, the universe started providing her with the right people and guidance. After one year, her energy boosted, and Hamideh had fewer headaches. When for the first time she meditated she found it the best and most interesting experience she have ever had. When she was participating in Life Coaching classes, Hamideh was introduced to Theta Healing. She found it amazing. She has already learned Reiki, however, with practicing Theta Healing, she could feel the shifts inside her. Her physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies were healing at the same time. She has started feeling energetically lighter. She also gained a smorgasbord of significant new insights into herself and her life. Last year, Hamideh launched her online company. She works hard but she enjoys every minute of it. She is working as well as a volunteer for The Women Center in downtown Montreal. To learn more about Hamideh Taraki and her work, please visit: hamidehtaraki.com and shouloushop.com       — This podcast is a quest for well-being, a quest for a meaningful life through the exploration of fundamental truths, enlightening ideas, insights on physical, mental, and spiritual health. The inspiration is Love. The aspiration is to awaken new ways of thinking that can lead us to a new way of being, being well.

Season 1 Episode 8. On today's episode, we chat with Amanda White, licensed therapist and the creator of the popular Instagram account and Tiktok @therapyforwomen, about the intersection of substance use and eating disorder recovery. The use of substances, specifically alcohol and marijuana, comes up quite frequently in my coaching with clients who struggle with binge eating. I loved this conversation with Amanda to talk more about the nuances of recovery when substances may be triggering episodes of binge eating. Amanda is in recovery from an addiction and eating disorder and in her clinical work, Amanda specializes in supporting clients in the overlap and intersection of both. She is the founder of "Therapy for Women Center" located in Philadelphia and serving clients across the country. Just before the pandemic hit, they established the Female Empowerment Movement (aka FEM) at IIT with hopes to create a space of support and resources for female-identifying students.
