Hey Magic Maker! I am here today to tell you that you are NOT crazy about having conversations with yourself. In today's episode, I am speaking with a firecracker of a human, Vasavi Kumar. Vasavi is a therapist + Former TV Host turned Visibility and Camera Confidence Coach, Through her Real Rich membership community and 8-week Camera Confident Accelerator program, she helps thought leaders and experts feel more confident on camera and clear in their creative process. She's been featured in the Wall Street Journal, FOX, VH1, and was a regular on NBC's Kansas City Live as the “Keepin' It Real” guru. This conversation goes in so many different ways. We talk about some of our deepest darkest secrets, her journey to sobriety, but we laugh our butts off about acting along the way. This episode is for you if you want to invite more fun into your life. A lot of us lose the childlike curiosity that we lose on our “journey to success”. The core of this conversation is true confidence. Confidence can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Confidence can be quiet. It can be a deep inner knowing that you are going to be okay and have your own back. Confidence can be willingness and excitement to find the different sides of yourself and invite it into the open. We all have 3 parts of ourselves: the firefighter, the manager, and the exiled. I held on to the title “therapist” for so long, I ignored what my soul was actually telling me to lean into. From my ego clutching to the MSW after my name to throwing around my Ivy League education like it was a dart and I was hoping it would help me hit my mark, my labels kept me… small.I'm sure you have a few of those, too.(Like, “The Good Girl” or “Doctor.”)Sometimes those accomplishments (and stories) we have every right to feel proud of can also be what keeps us in a box of our own making. They come with expectations of behavior or worse… an exclusion of all the things we WANT to talk about. It's time to turn that on its head.Today on the Being Human with Vasavi Podcast, I'm sharing how I've recently shifted my business from therapist to camera confidence and self-expression, and why this shift can liberate the hell out of you, too, if it's something that calls to you.And I want to be clear here: I didn't shift to this because I wanted to make more money or anything like that. My goal is to help you go from self-conscious to self-confident. Period. An underlying theme of all the work I do is to “be you” and “get paid” as a cherry on top, which made self-expression a no-brainer, while the camera confidence aspect bridged the connection and fear gap we all seem to face.Camera is my medium, and I'll tell you all about it when you dive into today's episode.Resources and Links from your show host, Vasavi Kumar:Join the Real Rich community here: http://vasavikumar.com/membershipConnect with Vasavi on Instagram: @mynameisvasavi---------Vasavi Kumar leads the coaching industry with 10 years of experience and has helped thousands of women overcome major life obstacles to create new heights of success. This episode, by far, is one of the most powerful and moving podcast interviews I've ever done. That's the gift you're presented with when you get to speak to Vasavi - the real power of being authentically yourself  shows up.  In this episode, Vasavi shares with us how she speaks to her inner child, aka her "daughter," and tells  real life stories and experiences that demonstrate how healing  can happen in the most practical and simple ways. Because, as Vasavi, says, inner child work is not complicated. It's something we all can do, at any age. This is an episode that you want to bring a box of tissues in hand because Vasavi and I cry together --as we share our truth and SPEAK IT OUT LOUD. Together we create a moment of healing in community. Join us.  This type of work is not meant to do alone. Trigger alert: This episode contains content about addiction,  a few "F" bombs, unhealed childhood trauma  --including foggy memories of unhealed childhood sexual abuse, and sexual content. About the Guest, Vasavi Kumar:Ever since she can remember, Vasavi has been relentless to find her own voice and access the freedom of her creative spirit.A first-generation Indian immigrant, she grew up in a traditional Hindu household on Long Island, New York. Living and going to school in a predominantly all-White town, she struggled with figuring out her own unique identity, the mental heartache of bullying, and shame from outshining the other students in her class due to her strict upbringing and focus on academics. Back then, she longed for acceptance, and believed that she had to dumb herself down to fit in and be welcomed into social circles.Education being vitally important, Vasavi holds dual master's degrees in Special Education from Hofstra University and Social Work from Columbia University. She's the Former Co-Host of Studio 512, a lifestyle and entertainment morning show in Austin, TX and was featured in The Wall Street Journal, FOX, VH1, and was a regular on NBC's Kansas City Live as the “Keepin' It Real Guru.”She pushed past the barriers of her youth and was building her six-figure business as a Coach and Licensed Therapist. She looked spotless on paper. She appeared like what so many women aspire to be – she had it all and was doing it all. What she quickly came to realize was that as well as she looked on the outside, she was crumbling on the inside. Her journey after that point included realizing and tackling her own mental illness, going through a divorce, and admitting her own addiction to drugs and alcohol, going through rehab, taking a step back with a relapse and then going through recovery again. She took her recovery on the inside as serious as she had focused in the past on her skills on the outside. Her spiritual healing included really learning about her own Self and being comfortable with being alone. She learned lessons of how to love who she is and connecting with that woman, feeling safe with her thoughts, and found healthier coping skills to turn her chronic dissatisfaction into internal contentment. From her own mental health challenges, divorce, addiction and RECOVERY, she's learned that missteps and wrong turns don't break your love of Self. You have the power to overcome your rock bottom moments successfully, and come out the other side stronger.  Vasavi strongly believes and shares in her Real Rich Community that “when you know yourself, you can be, do, and create anything you want.”links:https://www.vasavikumar.comInstagram: @mynameisvasaviPodcast: Being Human with VasaviReal Rich Community:  https://www.vasavikumar.com/membership

The truth is that if you don't sell, you don't have a business, so Susanna and I get deep in today's episode about how to make this feel more natural. Listen because you get to observe some role play between us and see how she actually does it in the most empathic way possible.Resources and Links from the Show: Take my FREE quiz to find out how well you know yourself and where to start using that to skyrocket your biz success: https://www.vasavikumar.com/takethequizJoin the Real Rich community here: http://vasavikumar.com/membershipConnect with Vasavi on Instagram: @mynameisvasaviKey moments to tune in for:[3:42] Why Susanna sells and true authentic sales in your business[9:49] The different types of objections you will face and how to handle them[18:07] How to handle time objections in real life[27:56] The 3 P's of sales that drive it home and how to handle the money objection[35:21] Shifting your perspective on persistence in sales conversations---------Vasavi Kumar leads the coaching industry with 10 years of experience and has helped thousands of women overcome major life obstacles to create new heights of success. Today on The Being Human Podcast I want to talk about journaling - but not the writing kind. No, today, we're diving into why asking questions out loud is more effective than only writing them down in your journal.Let me start by saying that I love journaling, but as someone who needs to speak to make sense of my mind, this voice technique is simply amazing, which is why I needed to create a whole episode about it.Why is it so effective? Because when you speak out loud, you are quite literally listening to yourself. It allows you to witness and detach from your emotions, enact solutions, and embrace your inner child. The best part? We don't have to make it weird to simply speak your thoughts, emotions, and needs out loud.Resources and Links from the Show: Take my FREE quiz to find out how well you know yourself and where to start using that to skyrocket your biz success: https://www.vasavikumar.com/takethequizJoin the MIND Your Own BUSINESS community here: http://vasavikumar.com/membershipConnect with Vasavi on Instagram: @mynameisvasaviKey moments to tune in for:[2:22] The best reason to use voice journaling when facing challenges[6:49] Interrupting fear-based thinking and overwhelming feelings[13:00] The habit that reintroduces you to yourself[18:01] How to not make it weird---------Vasavi Kumar leads the coaching industry with 10 years of experience and has helped thousands of women overcome major life obstacles to create new heights of success. Listen, this episode of The Being Human podcast has one of the biggest lessons I've ever learned, and it's the third of the top 4 things I'm walking away from in 2020 because of how damaging it can be.Do you realize how much time and energy we spend trying to convince or force something to work? We want people to respond a certain way, see us, and understand our perspective, yet we tend to spend an enormous amount of our energy trying to make them see us or give us the love we desire so much… and it's time to stop. It's amazing how light I've felt since making the decision to stop begging for love and attention, and it may have taken me a long time, but it created a massive shift in my energy when I realized it. Let's be honest - we know there are things that have been weighing us down, especially in the year we've had. Well, today's episode of The Being Human Podcast is the first in a 4-part series during December, where I'm sharing the Top 4 Things to Walk Away From in 2020.We're always talking about setting goals for 2021, which is very important. I'm all for goal setting, but if we're still carrying baggage (especially from the havoc that was this year and the stories of our past), it's a lot harder to accomplish those goals. It's harder to even set those goals when you have so much weighing you down. So many of us stay in bad situations when we're dying on the inside. We want to run the other way, but we are so psychologically and emotionally dependent on the (false) sense of security that this thing - this person, this place, this job - gives us that we think we can't leave. But we can.You CAN.It sometimes feels terrifying, but I know that deep down, you know you deserve more. Have you ever asked yourself, “Why can't I do the little things I need to be doing to take care of myself?” Well, my guests today on The Being Human podcast are two amazing women in my membership community who took part in my 14-Day Morning Reboot Challenge to tackle just that. I'm so excited to introduce to you Kari Laskowski and Kim Barman as we talk all about how their personalized morning routines, the challenges they faced in and outside of this reboot (especially losing their normal routines during the pandemic), and how it has positively impacted them. Both Kim and Kari are part of the MYOB community. Kari lives in Chicago with her husband and her two-year-old. When she's not chasing her toddler around the city, she's either cooking, watching a documentary, or, on a good day, writing.Kim Barman joined the community because she's starting her own business and found herself caught up in her head about it in a way that wasn't productive. On Saturday January 25, 2020 the Panic Film Festival in Kansas City, MO presented a special 10th anniversary screening of Adam Green's FROZEN followed by a live performance of THE MOVIE CRYPT podcast. For the first time ever, Joe Lynch interviews Adam Green in the most candid filmmaker on filmmaker conversation about the making of FROZEN that you'll ever hear. From Green turning down an offer that would have doubled the production's budget had he been willing to concede to the producer's demands (which included NOT shooting the film entirely on location)… to Green literally casting the very first actress to walk into the audition room… to the technical and physical hurdles that the cast and crew endured shooting on the side of a mountain in Utah during the dead of winter… to Joe's father passing away while he was visiting the set… to the moments with the wolves that turned dangerous… to the haunting story about the real-life tragedy that had occurred in the very spot Green was compelled to shoot the film in… the two filmmakers take a deep dive behind the scenes of FROZEN's lasting legacy “doing for skiing what JAWS did for swimming.” Recorded before a live audience the episode also includes the return of “The Steven Tyler Congratulations” as Green and Lynch honor a very special guest who also had a film screening at Panic Fest this year. NOTE: Unfortunately Arwen could not attend this live appearance due to a previously scheduled professional obligation. This burning desire to feed the mouths and minds of others has fueled her life with purpose and has taken her on many paths towards serving others in the world. Vasavi Kumar is often described as "your kick-in-the-pants guide en route to your desired destination." In 2013, at the peak of her successful career, Vasavi decided to take a dose of her own medicine and began relentlessly pursuing her life-long goal of nourishing the minds and mouths of the people. For her, that meant enrolling at The Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts in Austin, TX, to become a vegetarian chef. She dedicated her life and work to show people how to nourish themselves by raising their consciousness about what they eat, how they think, and what they can do to serve even bigger in the world.
