In Part 2, Aaron and I look at different related threads that one encounters when delving into this topic; in particular, how Aaron's research ties into a topic that I had talked about last year with regard to the recent documentary-type show called 'Hellier' (specifically with regard to a man named Allen Greenfield). This links to high strangeness such as that seen in the book The Mothman Prophecies, but also ritual magick, and occulture at its finest. We try to make some sense out of all of this and ask how it all relates to the original case study of Steiner and Hynek. In Part 1, Aaron and I explore many different rabbit holes regarding esotericism and high strangeness. Aaron begins by expanding on his earlier presentations that he gave this year on this topic; he's looking at the relationship between technology and magic, and is asking, 'how does technology reenchant the world?' One area that we can find a lot of interesting material is the UFO-field. Aaron talks about his research findings regarding the links between Rudolf Steiner and J. Allen Hynek (a scientist who was working with the U.S. government in its project to study the UFO phenomena). I get how unbelievers can miss what God is doing in the world. I understand how they can explain away what they see in creation and how they can deny the existence or involvement of God based on how broken the world is. I can see how they would conclude that they can live without God, if he exists at all. But the ability to deny his existence is coming to an end. In time, God will reveal himself in ways that are simply undeniable. In Revelation 11:15-19, John sees another scene of heavenly worship as the 7th trumpet sounds accompanied by, “flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail.” Signs that are unmistakably divine in origin. All of it announcing that the kingdom of this world has given way to the kingdom of God. Which begs a question, to what extent is the kingdom of this world giving way to the kingdom of God in our own hearts in advance of that final day? That's what we'll look at together on Sunday. I'm eager to work it out with you from the Word. I get how unbelievers can miss what God is doing in the world. I understand how they can explain away what they see in creation and how they can deny the existence or involvement of God based on how broken the world is. I can see how they would conclude that they can live without God, if he exists at all. But the ability to deny his existence is coming to an end. In time, God will reveal himself in ways that are simply undeniable. In Revelation 11:15-19, John sees another scene of heavenly worship as the 7th trumpet sounds accompanied by, “flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail.” Signs that are unmistakably divine in origin. All of it announcing that the kingdom of this world has given way to the kingdom of God. Which begs a question, to what extent is the kingdom of this world giving way to the kingdom of God in our own hearts in advance of that final day? That's what we'll look at together on Sunday. Last year, Congress rewrote the charter for that organization now called the Airborne Object Identification and Management. Synchronization Group or AOIMSG for short. Today, we will bring that organization out of the shadows. This hearing and oversight work has a simple idea at its core. Unidentified aerial phenomena are a potential national security threat, and they need to be treated that way. For too long the stigma associated with UAPs has gotten in the way of good intelligence analysis, pilots avoided reporting or were laughed at when they did. It's true, but they are real. What's up, ufonauts?! In Minutes of Our Mythology, Part Two, I look at the government's first examination of the UFO phenomenon: Project Sign. Throughout 1948, people from all walks of life reported UFOs to the government. Some were civilians, some were actual pilots and military personnel. They ran the gamut. By the time Project Sign came to an end, it had seen the death of a pilot pursuing a UFO, reports of all sorts of odd lights in the sky, and an extremely close encounter by two Eastern Airlines pilots who claimed to see an enormous cigar-shaped UFO with windows that shot a 50 foot flame out the end of it. Suzy Batiz has been featured by leading business publications including Forbes, CNBC, Fast Company and Entrepreneur. Mark O’Connell is the author of The Close Encounters Man: How One Man Made the World Believe in UFOs, a biography of astronomer Dr. J. Allen Hynek. Hynek was a consultant to the U.S. Air Force’s official UFO investigations in the late 40s to the late 60s. A skeptic at first, Hynek went on to become a proponent of serious research into the UFO phenomenon. Mark is also a screenwriter, teacher, and blogger. He wrote episodes for Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and has developed feature film projects with major studios, including Walt Disney and DreamWorks Animation. He is also the founder of the UFO blog High Strangeness. He lives in Wisconsin with his wife, Monica, and teaches screenwriting at DePaul University in Chicago. In this episode of Open Minds UFO Radio, we talk to Mark about the upcoming History Channel series Project Blue Book. The series uses Hynek as a main character. But it has decided not to release a dossier detailing sightings or incidents between 2011 and 2017. Government files of this kind are normally available under the Freedom of Information Act, which allows any member of the public to request files from the government.
