Episode 34 - Murdock and Marvel: 1992 Part 1 Well, here we are.  Image starts a new creator-owned era, even as the man who created the superhero sensation dies, along with one of his creators. 1992 was a very big year for changes. The Year in Comics  Comic books managed to make it into the news and public consciousness in different ways in 1992, as movies, TV shows, new companies and a massive character death kept things interesting!  Notable and Newsworthy Sales & Industry Trends Beginnings and Endings Memorials Eisner Awards Dan's Favorite The Year in Marvel 1992 is a weird year, in that as it begins nothing seems to have changed from the heady days of 1991.  But the Image artists no longer are present as the summer rolls around, and the Marvel Universe itself moves into darker territory.  Here begins the anti-hero turn of the 90s, with dark futures and truly irredeemable villains.  TOTAL SERIES: 246  TOTAL NEW SERIES: 149  TOTAL ENDING SERIES: 129  THIS YEAR'S EVENT(S):   Operation Galactic Storm (Avengers and Quasar in a Kree/Shiar war) X-Cutioner's Song (X-Men fight Stryfe)  BEST SELLING COMICS: Death of Superman, Spawn and all the Image books  Events & Happenings New Titles (Ongoing and Limited) New Characters Series Ending Who's in the Bullpen ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Chris Bachalo Dan's Favorite   Next week: 1992 Part 2 - The year in Daredevil  Questions or comments We'd love to hear from you!  Email us at questions@comicsovertime.com or find us on Twitter @comicsoftime. ------------------ THANKS TO THE FOLLOWING CREATORS AND RESOURCES  Music: Our theme music is by the very talented Lesfm.  You can find more about them and their music at https://pixabay.com/users/lesfm-22579021/.  The Grand Comics Database: Dan uses custom queries against a downloadable copy of the GCD to construct his publisher, title and creator charts.  Comichron: Our source for comic book sales data.  Man Without Fear: Kuljit Mithra's Daredevil site contains a staggering collection of resources about our hero, including news, interviews and comic details.    The American Comic Book Chronicles: Published by TwoMorrows, these volumes provide an excellent analysis of American comics through the years.  Because these volumes break down comic history by year and decade they are a great place to get a basic orientation on what is happening across the comic industry at a particular point in time.  Joshua and Jamie Do Daredevil: A fantastic podcast that does a deep-dive into Daredevil comics.  This ran from 2018-2020, and covered most of the first volume of Daredevil, and was a fun way to get an in-depth look at each issue of Daredevil from 1-377.  My Marvelous Year: This is a reading-club style podcast where Dave Buesing and friends chose important or interesting books from a particular year to read and discuss.  This helped me remember some fun and crazy stories, and would be a great companion piece to Murdock and Marvel for those who want more comic-story-specific coverage.  BOOKLIST  The following books have been frequently used as reference while preparing summaries of the comic history segments of our show.  Each and every one comes recommended by Dan for fans wanting to read more about it!  Licari, Fabio and Marco Rizzo.  Marvel: The First 80 Years: The True Story of a Pop-Culture Phenomenon.  London: Titan Books, 2020.  This book is sort of a mess, as the print quality is terrible, and Titan doesn't even credit the authors unless you check the fine print.  It's like this was published by Marvel in the early 60s! But the information is good, and it is presented in an entertaining fashion.  So its decent, but I would recommend you see if you can just borrow it from the library instead of purchasing.  Wells, John.  American Comic Book Chronicles: 1960-1964.  Raleigh: Two Morrows, 2015.  Not cheap, but a fantastic series that is informative and fun to read.  Wright, Bradford.  Comic Book Nation: The Transformation of Youth Culture in America.  Baltimore: Johns Hopkins University Press, 2001.  This is the revised edition.  Marvel Year By Year: A Visual History.  New York: DK Publishing, 2022.  The academic in my rails at using information from any work that doesn't have an author credit, but this is a decent (if very surface) look at each year in the history of Timely / Marvel from 1939 to 2021.    Cowsill, Alan et al.  DC Comics Year by Year: A Visual History.  New York: DK Publishing, 2010.  Because its nice to occasionally take a peek at what the Distinguished Competition is up to.  Dauber, Jeremy.  American Comics: A History.  New York, W.W. Norton & Company, 2022.  An excellent, relatively compact history of the domestic comic industry from its 19th century origins through to recent 21st century developments.  An excellent successor to Bradford Wright's Comic Book Nation.

Maddy and Ryan convene for the double-header premiere episodes of X-Men '97, which just may be the best-ever X-Men adaptation in our lifetimes, as well as the emotional pinnacle of this podcast's run up to this point. We analyze every single frame and line of dialogue in both episodes, and perhaps the only problem with that is for some reason we called X-Cutioner by the wrong name (X-Terminator) about half the time. We were just too excited and/or distracted by the fact that Wolverine and Morph are canonically banging on this show. And have you seen that photo of Xavier and Magneto cuddling??? We aren't over it, or really anything else that happens on this episode. To Me, My X-Men & Mutant Liberation BeginsOne year after Professor Charles Xavier left Earth with the Shi'ar,[a] the X-Men continue their mission to defend mutants and humans alike and go on to become legally sanctioned by the United Nations (UN). Additionally, Jean Grey has become pregnant while support for mutants has grown. After the X-Men save a young mutant named Roberto da Costa from the Friends of Humanity (FoH), Jean sees that they were outfitted with Sentinel tech and probes Henry Peter Gyrich's mind for the location of the Sentinels' creator, Bolivar Trask. Despite succeeding, she receives a horrifying premonition while doing so. The team later find Trask at a junkyard in the Sahara, where he is rebuilding his Sentinels with the aid of a lobotomized Master Mold. After defeating the Sentinels and apprehending Trask, Cyclops and Jean ponder leaving the team to raise their son away from mutant hatred. The following day, Magneto reveals Xavier's will, in which Xavier gave him control of the Institute and entrusted him with leading the X-Men.While trying to live up to Xavier's legacy, Magneto has taken to saving humans and mutants alike and refraining from killing anti-mutant militants. Distrustful of him, Cyclops and Jean stay to observe Magneto while Rogue sympathizes with his struggles. When UN forces led by Valerie Cooper arrive at the Institute to arrest Magneto for his past terrorism, he surrenders peacefully, hoping to gain the X-Men and humanity's trust. During his trial at the UN's headquarters, the FoH stage an assault on the building. Their leader, X-Cutioner, attempts to shoot a de-powering radiation blast at Magneto, but Storm takes the hit for him. Magneto stops the assault, after which the UN grants him a pardon and discuss the possibility of integrating the mutant nation Genosha. Meanwhile, Jean goes into labor and Rogue is forced to absorb an obstetrician's knowledge when he refuses to deliver a mutant's baby. Jean gives birth to a son, whom she names Nathan. When Beast informs Storm that X-Cutioner's blast de-powered her permanently, she leaves the team to find new meaning in life. While discussing her decision, the X-Men are surprised by the sudden arrival of a woman who looks identical to Jean.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

X-Boyz and Girlz, it's the moment you've all been waiting for. X-Men '97 has arrived and we're thrilled to report that it's bringing more heat than a Phoenix firestorm. Join us as we celebrate the mega two-part episode return of our old faithful friends who are back to take on some familiar foes (Gyrich, Trask, and the Sentinels) and some new threats to mutant-kind (X-Cutioner).  The Professor's out of the picture and Magneto's running the show. Jean and Scott contemplate leaving the X-Men to start a family. And Rogue and Magneto TOUCH ON a secret romantic history. Stick around for a quick power rankings of the newly expanded X-Men squad to see how they're stacking up. Most other pods will lump in their coverage of this iconic show's revival with other content, but that's not how the Boyz roll. We've given episode-by-episode in-depth analysis of the original series and we're here to do the same for '97 every week on Thursdays. If you love mutants as much as we do, join us, won't you? Boyz, out. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/xboyzpod/support

Xtinction Agenda: Comics of 80s, 90s, and Beyond

The man in the wheelchair is shot by a pervert kidnapper. He lay poisoned by the future. Later, when the threads of then and now entwine and leave the present seemingly tied, the student will show that the open hand can injure just as well as the closed fist. Is this why the big guy up there won't cut him some slack?  All we can say with certainty is that a baleful song haunts the valley of death. We'd better look after that cough. "Why has Apocalypse been awakened in an unfinished state of organic coherence?"

For this week’s episode of Geekorama, we’re discussing the role that propaganda has played in the history of superheroes.Pop-Culture Trivia- Batwoman: Kathy KaneJuly 1956 Batwoman aka Kathy Kane made her debut. Here’s a little trivia about this interesting addition to the Bat-family: There are really two different women who have worn the moniker of Batwoman, the first was Kathy Kane who was introduced as a potential love interest for Batman to help combat accusations that Batman was gay propaganda. In spite of the fact that she became quite popular with readers, in 1964 the character was shelved and Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl took over as the female counterpart to Batman. In 1977, thanks to pressure from fans, Batwoman was brought back to assist Batgirl with defeating Killer Moth and Cavalier. Soon after she was killed off by the Bronze Tiger. Finally, in 2011 she was returned to the original continuity of the comics, revealed to be Bruce’s aunt who fought crime by his side after she was widowed and that they had become lovers before it appeared she was killed offGEEK OUTSTrish - A Blade so Black by L.L. McKinney. It’s like Buffy and Alice in Wonderland had a baby. SO good, world-building that is vibrant but not overdone in exposition. A female protagonist that is three dimensional and avoids the ‘strong female character’ tropes. LOVED IT, going to buy the sequel.Jeremy - I’ve been binging the latest season of the 100 on the CW. It marries some of my favorite things: regressed society with advanced technologies, tribalism, and a whole lot of bad decision making. It’s been a great show and really delved into the brutal nature of survival, however, the newest season is struggling. Really, you’re trying to work in a Back to the Future plot?Deep Dive -Superheroes in the Propaganda MachineIn recent years we’ve heard the ongoing criticism, “Keep politics out of comic books,” and the people shouting that, you’re incredibly stupid and seem to forget that the very nature of comics is rooted in political propaganda. However, let’s start this dive into history with an English lesson:Propagandanoun : the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person WWII (The Obvious Starting Point for Many of our Modern Heroes)Superman - Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster (both Jewish) met at Glenville High School in Cleveland Ohio and in March 1938, Captain America - Created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby (both Jewish) through Timely Comics. While Simon created the identity of “Super American,” later changed to “Captain America”, Utilized in other forms of PropagandaWonder Woman - The engine of American ideology drives Wonder Woman, which is in the end a movie about violence...And so the surreality at the heart of American identity gets recycled, producing comic book movies to feed our least noble hungers. https://newrepublic.com/article/143100/wonder-woman-propagandaWonder Woman & Superman - In Deadly Legacy, DC joins forces with UNICEF to create a story line that specifically addresses “landmine awareness” for children. She along with Superman step outside their patriotic roots to delve into a much different message than national pride.Green Arrow & Green Lantern (Drug Addiction) - Written by Dennis O’Neil and Neal Adams, the story line focuses on the duo combatting muggers who are robbing to score money for drugs. Amongst them, Green Arrow’s sidekick and now heroin addict, Speedy. HIV/AIDS AwarenessSuperman / Wonder Woman - The French organization AIDES created two images depicting Superman and Wonder Woman with AIDS and the caption of, “Protect Yourself.” X-Men - 1993 during X-Cutioner’s Song, Stryfe unleashes a virus that infects mutants at random. This runs parallel to the mounting worry surrounding HIV and comes to a culmination when it kills Illyana Rasputin on the page in Uncanny X-Men 303. QotW: What superhero do you love who also has a problematic origin story? Visit Superhero-Fiction to Discover Uncanny Superhero StoriesSubscribe to Geekorama to Stay Up-to-Date on All Things SuperheroiTunes | Spotify | Podbean | YoutubeFollow Superhero-Fiction on Social MediaSuperhero-Fiction Facebook Page | Superhero-Fiction Facebook GroupTrish Heinrich – Facebook | InstagramJeremy Flagg - Facebook | Instagram

Sean answers your Marvel questions! 0:43 Kerry VanderbergHi Sean, I hope you are doing well. What are some of your “must-haves” in the new era of X-Men films which you want to see once they are introduced into the MCU? A few for me are: a more drawn out fight between Wolverine and Sabretooth where they actually get to slash each other up (which they had the perfect opportunity to do in LOGAN, but missed out by not bringing back Leiv Schreiber); Rogue somehow getting her flight and super-strength powers; and for them to plant the seeds of the larger mythology with Cyclops and Jean, where their offspring (Cable) would become the one who can truly defeat Apocalypse in the future. This involves a lot of players including Mr. Sinister, Stryfe, Apocalypse, and should be a long-game plan. Personally, I would hope to see them build up to an adaptation of the X-Cutioner's Song Saga, and play up the mystery that Stryfe is a clone of Cable. Although most important I supposed would to see the X-Men working together as a TEAM. What are your thoughts?8:58 Kerry VanderbergWhat do you think are the missed opportunities for Spider-man from the Amazing Spider-Man films? Personally I didn't like either film, and the only thing that I was excited for before ASM 2 came out was Shailene Woodley's casting as Mary Jane. Personally I thought she was pitch-perfect casting, as I would see her in interviews (particularly one with Conan O'Brien), and I thought her natural personality in that interview matched MJ perfectly. So I was bummed when she was cut out, but I doubt her appearance would have made much of a difference for that film anyways. In any case, that is one where if there was a way to de-age Shailene Woodley to match Tom Holland's age, I would prefer to see her cast as Mary Jane in current era of Spider-man, but I doubt that will happen either. What did you think about Shailene Woodley's casting at the time, and what do you think were the missed opportunities with that version of Spider-man (other than ASM 2 simply not being a good movie)?15:19 Kerry VanderbergWhat types of movies do you go to when you have finished an MCU/superhero movie marathon or re-watch? Do you have a “palette cleanser” of sorts? Some of my favorite non-superhero genres are crime dramas, spy thrillers, and sci-fi films. While obviously the MCU has done a great job in intermixing multiple genres in their films, sometimes it's great to go to a stand-alone film like LA Confidential or Interstellar for a change of pace. Any recent ones you've discovered or revisited?18:20 Mookie JohnsonGiven your report on the Daily Bugle yesterday, I kept waiting for you to say that "the Oscars want the Avengers to come save the day" or something like that... maybe i'm the only one who hears these bad jokes in my head.Anywho, Do you think there's any chance  that comes with any promotional reveals like a costume, trailer, behind-the-scenes, etc.?Also do you think the actors would be themselves for the segments or would they be in character? For example,  would the title card say Robert Downey jr. And he is being himself, or might he come out in an Iron Man suit and be acting as Tony Stark/Iron Man?If it is the latter, would they not have dusted characters present?21:33 Woo S! KimNow that we are closer to the launch of Disney Plus and the FOX/Disney merger coming to a close, where do you think the place of Marvel TV within Disney will be especially since sites like The Wrap and The Hollywood Reporter which I know can be cold and hot on these stories sometimes especially when there is not a lot of information,  but they have reported over the last month or so that Marvel Studios is going to do quite a bit of live action content on Disney Plus, do you think that Marvel Animation that is under the Marvel TV umbrella will do a lot more exclusive animated films, for Disney Plus? Also, I have been thinking this for a couple of days now, and you have touched on this in the past, has your mode of thinking altered in that Marvel Studios series will stay primarily on Disney Plus which will be a big selling point to the casual non geek audiences to get Disney Plus subscriptions and Marvel TV will primarily produce shows for Freeform and FXX as well as “Agents of Shield” on ABC?29:94 AlexHey Sean can I ask how you'd prefer MCU  Sue Storm be portrayed in comparison to the Fox-versions played previously by Kate Mara and Jessica Alba respectively? In my mind, Sue should be confident and assertive, while also being a complete badass.   And also I would like for the MCU to have Sue Storm be among the strongest and most  dangerous characters in the universe. Sue is already the most powerful member of the FF30:05 AlexForgive me if you've been asked this question before  but for  the MCU do you think the best approach for realizing the Thing in live-action  is putting the actor in a Mo-Cap suit like we've seen done for Hulk and Fan4stic or would  would you prefer old-school practical thing like makeup/prosthetics  like we've seen done  before with the Tim Story movies and most recently with the Skrulls?31:56 David RosenHey Sean, I've been holding onto this question for a while now, mainly because it has more to do with Disney-Fox than the MCU, but with the launch of your new Star Wars podcast, I figured this is the right time to ask. Once the deal goes through, can you see, and/or would you prefer, Disney putting the Fox fanfare back in front of Star Wars movies and/or new tv shows? That fanfare is so iconic, that whenever I hear it, my mind automatically jumps to the opening Star Wars theme right after hearing it. Plus, like the MCU fanfare, I've become conditioned to get excited for whatever is about to come after it. When I saw Force Awakens and Last Jedi, I couldn't help but feel like something was missing at the beginning of those movies and it just didn't feel right hearing the opening Star Wars theme without the Fox fanfare in front of it.34:34 David RosenOn a separate note, between all you do for this podcast, writing for the MSN website, the new Fandalorians podcast, your twitter activity, reading for the Marvel unlimited bookclub, and keeping up with everyone on the Discord, I seriously have no idea how you have the time to do all of it. You're not secretly in possession of a time stone that gives you more hours in a day, are you? If so, quit holding out on the rest of us. Not cool. Seriously though, I'm super impressed with and thankful for all you do for your fans and creating this little community of ours that we have going. I'm also really looking forward to the podcast's leadup to Avengers End Game, so thanks as always and keep it up!39:30 David RosenAnother Marvel/Star Wars question: As they are both coming our this year, and will both be serving as conclusions of sorts to their respective franchises, which movie do you think has more riding on it, Avengers Endgame or Star Wars Ep. 9? Also, which movie do you think has more pressure to succeed?46:20 Hector Giovanni NavarreteHey Sean hope you and all my fellow Patrons have a great weekend! So I have heard great things of Jonathan Hickman's FF comic series! What is your take on it? Why would you recommend this series for someone to read?48:06 Hector Giovanni NavarreteFavorite MCU costume? Don't know if this has been asked before.49:30 Hector Giovanni NavarreteYour personal favorite funniest moment/joke in the MCU?51:04 Michael Louis WeaselboyHey Sean hope your weekend is going good, my question is about the X-Men in the MCU, first off who do you think should be the villain in the first X-Men MCU film?? Who would you cast as that character?? What would be the lineup you would pick? And finally who would you cast as them?? Thanks for all that you do and I hope you have a nice weekend.54:16 AlexOut of all the Fox movies that was currently in development before the Disney deal was announced  that we know of like the Doctor Doom film, Kitty Pyrde film, or the  Gambit film which movie would you most want to be saved and be  re-purposed to fit in the MCU and which project would you most like to see Marvel abandon?56:20 AlexIf Spider-Man was to leave the MCU after ‘Far From Home' what do you think will be the biggest missed opportunity  that comes with Spider-Man's MCU tenure coming to an end? For myself it would be Spider-Man not being in the MCU long enough to be able to meet/interact with Fox characters like Wolverine and Johnny Storm. I want Spider-Man to meet the Fantastic Four on screen before I die. I want that  so badly.58:48 AlexJeremy Conrad and Christopher Marc(former Editor-In-Chief of a scoop site called Omega Underground) have been insistent that both Dark Phoenix & New Mutants will see a theatrical release even when Disney takes over and I have to wonder what you you think if both Dark Phoenix & New Mutants gets delayed again? Would you still be somewhat confident Disney would release those movies despite the mutiple delays based soley on that report by the Wall Street Journal that Disney will release those movies no matter what? I can't shake this sneaking feeling that something is going to happen with these movies soon.1:04:42 Liam HeslinHi Sean and fellow Patrons, hope everyone is having a nice start to their weekend. I saw a tweet on Friday from Daniel Richtman saying any Fox movie not already in production (like Dark Phoenix and New Mutants) will likely be scrapped when the Disney-Fox deal finally closes. My question is what do you think this means for a potential X-Force movie? I was under the impression that Fox has Josh Brolin and Zazi Beetz locked up for more movies and even if X-Force is delayed will those contracts get handed over to Disney after the deal? Thanks as always for answering our questions and creating such an awesome community for Marvel fans.1:08:37 Alex WardDo you think Marvel Studios would consider doing reshoots of New Mutants to make it their own? I think the casting was perfect so I would hate to see it go to "waste". The only downside to that idea I can think of is that it would probably interfere with their overall X-plans. Also, what do you think of the casting and roster of New Mutants?1:10:37 Alex WardAlso, we've talked before about how the timing of the Fox deal will likely prevent certain characters from ever being able to interact. For example, if Cap dies in Endgame, he'll never meet Wolverine, and so on. What character interactions between current MCU characters and FF/X-Men characters are you most hoping to see? I just have one: Spidey and Human Torch, maybe with them both going to the same high school!1:13:08 Alex Ward]In-universe, are the MCU heroes having adventures between the movies, maybe even against other villains, or are we seeing all of their heroics onscreen? I know it's implied that characters like Loki and Thor were up to something before Ragnarok, but for other characters it's not so clear. For example, it's hard for me to infer whether Cap, Natasha, Falcon and the gang were doing any missions while in hiding.1:14:49 Alex WardThis sort of has to do with the previous question: how would you feel about an MCU "canon" similar to what Star Wars does, in which all the books, comics, video games, and other supplemental materials are now canonical? I know we have the tie-in comics, and that these characters *came* from comics, but I think they're such significant pop culture characters that they now transcend any specific media format. I know we have books like Thanos: Titan Consumed, but while it takes place within the MCU, it's been clearly described as non-canonical.1:20:42 Woo S! KimWhat do you think of the possibilities that the post credit scene in "Avengers: Infinity War" where Hill and Fury are driving take place after the events of "Spider-Man: Far From Home?" also I wou be shocked if I am the only one that's thought of that. %CODE_APOCALYPSE% We're back with another Character Corner. This time we're doing double the trouble with two classic X-Men villains: Apocalypse and Mister Sinister. It's actually pretty fitting that we do these two at this point. We recently did an episode on the Summers brothers, Scott & Alex. And we're also planning on doing an episode on Cable and the rest of the Summers bloodline. Throwing Sinister and Apocalypse in between those two seems pretty fitting considering how tied these villains are to the Summers clan. So in this episode we skip over some stuff but only because we'll be diving into more detail when we do that other episode. The interesting thing about Apocalypse and Mister Sinister is how due to their longevity they've been incorporated into almost everything. Some for the good and some for the bad. But their tale is one that spans generations and overall, is pretty damn good. So sit back and give this episode a listen to find out just out evil these two are. And for the record, we should make it very clear, neither of these characters are #VillainAgenda. They're just pure evil. It's like Hitler and Josef Mengele.  Oh and Louise Simonson is a national fucking hero. Put some respect on her name. Key Issues: Apocalypse X-Factor Volume 1 Issue #5 – First Cameo Issues #6 – First full appearance Issue #15 = First appearance of The Horsemen Issue #24 – Archangel revealed as Death Issues #65 – 68 First appearance of the Dark Riders Infects baby Nate Summers with techno-organic virus Cable Volume 1 #75 X-Cutioner’s Song Cable Vol 2 #19 – Resurrected Uncanny X-Force (Remmender) Age of Apocalypse The Twelve Mister Sinister Mutant Massacre Uncanny X-Men #213 – Sabretooth first mentions the character Uncanny X-M3n #221 – First appearance Inferno Uncanny X-Men #241 – Reveals that he cloned Madelyne Pryor from Jean Grey X-Factor #39 – Cyclops “Destroys” Classic X-Men #41 – 42 X-Factor #74 & #75 – The Nasty Boys X-Cutioner’s Song (1992-1993) X-Men #23 – Brothers The Further Adventures of Phoenix and Cyclops Cable Annual 1999 Gambit Ties X-Men Volume 2 #6 – Sabretooth suggests that he has ties to Remy X-Men #41 – 45 Uncanny X-Men #350 Gambit #13 – 23 Explains some of Sinister’s new powers including shapeshifting (got them from experimenting on Courier) X-Men 99 – 103 Messiah Complex Mystique “kills” him X-Men Legacy #211 – 214 Xavier Ties X-23 Uncanny X-Men #544 Uncanny X-Men #14 - 17 (AvX Tie-In) If you like this episode and want to hear more, make sure you subscribe to the Character Corner Podcast (We're now on Spotify!)

Bonus time! Brett had to show Matt the X-Men fanmade movie that blew his mind, and since the video is totally silent, the guys decided to just talk over it. So check out the article over on io9, which sums up the (no sarcasm here) masterpiece and includes a few GIFs, and then hit play on the video right when we do for a totally new M&BLC experience! This jam is worth watching. When you’re done with this, you should check out the episode where we read the “X-Cutioner’s Song” storyline with Pat Loika! Comic book fan and all around good guy Pat Loika joins Matt and Brett to discuss a storyline that is near and dear to all of their hearts: X-Cutioner’s Song. Stryfe, Apocalypse, Mr. Sinister, the canon fodder of the Mutant Liberation Front, and the Dark Riders — this crossover has everything. This podcast also has everything, including Brett’s extremely long-winded explanation as to why X-Factor #84 is one of the most perfect comics of all time. You can follow the many adventures of Pat Loika on his great podcast, Loikamania, where Matt and Brett will also appear in just a few weeks to discuss the X-Men even more.
