Adam and Khelan take a deep dive into the Mutant Mistress of the elements with brand new Storm writer, Murewa Ayodele. Murewa gives his secret origin how he came to love comics and how he became the writer of Ororo's solo adventures. The boys nerd out about just how powerful Storm is with a knife and why her new outfit is called "BRUTAL"!
We're going transcontinental for this one, as we talk to Nigerian creator Murewa Ayodele about his upcoming book STORM! One of the most cinematic stories you'll ever hear, and it's not in a comic book - listen now! Intro Background How did you get into comics? (1:45) What is the Nigerian comic scene like? MK: BWB - hilarious short about “Egyptian stuff” - where'd you come up with the idea? (11:45) I Am Iron Man (18:55) Very cool conceit for the series - how much research did you do, and why did you pick the eras/stories that you chose? Damn you for making me cry with #3 right after laughing my ass off at Mojo DEXTER'S LAB REFERENCE IN #4 YOU ARE AMAZING Akogun: Brutalizer of Gods (28:02) One of the most badass titles I've ever heard in my life Yoruba mythology is fascinating - what inspired the combination of western ideas with African roots? Storm (34:24) How much of the recent X-stuff do you have to know about to pick this one up? Ororo is such a complex character - how do you decide knowing which parts of her to focus on? Favorite trait of hers? Favorite character flaw? (40:00) How are you honoring her Kenyan heritage? (46:52) Thoughts on some of the online discourse surrounding Ororo's home (50:38) One of the most iconic & fashionable characters in Marvel - how much effort is/was put into discussions & designs of her wardrobe? How far out in advance do you have stories mapped? Fan questions (57:29) Antoine Dodson, @worldofantoine, asks: Since they are working to heighten Storm's profile in the larger marvel universe again, could we see any crossover stories or events centering around Storm in the future? @butterflykyss asked: Ororo is slated in this run to be earth's protector which is pretty awesome. However, Gaia, I would presume, believes that title is more appropriate in describing her. Any chance the two will cross paths? Sorcerer Supreme, @mysticalme337, asks: Admittedly I've asked Mr. Ayodele this before, but if he had to have Ororo team up with Doc Strange, what dynamic would he have for them? Kimmi, @SeleneGallio616, asks: What has been the best part in imaging what Ororo's story after Krakoa would be? And what has been the biggest inspiration for her fashion sense? Ororo Munroe, @Storm54737952, asks: In relation to this image, can we associate that this spear is made of Light... not a simple light, but rather a light linked to the House of Ideas, the divine light, the Light of TOAA? after all, she will face Oblivion! Jug, @jugtbwjwsu, asks: Is there gonna be any chances of Storm seeing her Grandparents again? Sky Breaker, @dsolomon83, asks: Any armoring in the new suit? Bulletproofing, knife proofing, laser proofing etc. Anything else in the fire? In the latest livestream of FATHER.SON.GALAXY, we're delving deep into the gripping continuation of X-MEN ‘97 with the episode "Lifedeath - Part 2." As the episode unfolds, viewers are on the edge of their seats as Forge faces near-death while Storm battles her inner demons. The Adversary, a manifestation of Storm's fears, relentlessly preys on her doubts, pushing her to the brink of forsaking her powers. It's a heart-pounding struggle as Ororo fights to reclaim her strength and identity amidst the Adversary's relentless assault. The tension in the air is palpable as Storm undergoes a powerful transformation, emerging once again as the iconic hero she's known to be.Meanwhile, there's a surprising twist in the narrative as Charles Xavier, presumed dead, makes a shocking return. He's been healed by the Shi'ar people and finds himself embroiled in the political intrigue of their empire. As Empress Lilandra introduces him as her future husband and emperor, disbelief ripples through the populace. Tensions escalate further with the vehement opposition of Lilandra's sister, Deathbird, who challenges Xavier's loyalty to Chandilar in a dramatic showdown.Amidst philosophical debates on power dynamics and co-existence, Xavier senses trouble brewing and resolves to return to Earth. Bolivar Trask's desperate plea to Mister Sinister hints at deeper conspiracies at play, adding another layer of intrigue to the unfolding drama.

Cyclops is Waiting for Me - An X-Men: The Animated Series Weekly Recap
As with CIWFM tradition, Rod is in the lead of a Storm episode with this one sharing a different perspective about Ororo's youth and her relationship with one of the tribes before coming to America. Some of the classic Ororo traits get explored like her claustrophobia while others like importance of her powers get a deeper dive. With this version of Storm having her nephew Evan at the Institute with her, we also get to check on her parenting style too and what it's like to disappoint the Wind Rider. Also, JC apologizing for my audio quality on this one. Had a PC issue that resulting in me hopping to a different device that didn't have its proper settings in place. Cyclops is Waiting for Me is our weekly podcast series where we are going back and watching EVERY-SINGLE-X-MEN-ANIMATED-EPISODE we can find. Our first series started with the original 1992 X-Men: The Animated Series building up to the release of X-Men 97', coming to Disney Plus later this year. But since it's not here yet, we needed to find some other shows to cover. Uploading live from the hotel in Minneapolis! I did not edit on the plane, as I suspected, and instead watched One Piece and I Think You Should Leave Now... Enough about that, what about the comics!? A stack of them all over the Fall of X landscape. The Genesis War is at Ororo's doorstep and she's brought friends! Plus a peek into the history of Fisher King. The Children don't like being messed with, but that's all Cable and Bishop want to do, taking the fight to the Vault now. Family ties are becoming tenuous in X-Force as Mikhail seems to be losing his patience. Iceman fights the Elementals and they're definitely not working for Orchis... wink. We're piecing the stories together with the info we have, finding books and making it through the timelines. Lethal Legion seems to have the upper hand until our mutants get the band together! Poor Escapade is on the outs with her friends though. War College adds a little more on each of our stories, but still keeps them separate to frustrating detail. Storm rocks the punk look in the first issue of a classic series that also seems to be seeding some resentment between Ororo and Charles. Plus Comic Extracts gives us what we missed in The X-Cellent! The X-Men anime has some truly stellar writing for Scott Summers, which is to say, he is a massive dick in this episode and it's totally in-character. Instead of engaging with his anger towards Emma Frost (as well as his attraction towards her), Scott decides to take it out on poor little Hisako in the Danger Room. Meanwhile, Hisako comes to terms with her mutant identity after a pep talk from Ororo and Emma, after which Emma decides to use Xavier's telepathy to prove Scott wrong. Not much actually happens in this episode, but it's still satisfying to see the character drama play out. If it starts to get below 54 degrees you absolutely have to slow your presentation way down. Fish will not move around much to feed! Also sheepshead and whiting enjoy the colder water temperatures! Colder weather typically means they prefer a medium to small shrimp versus big baits. Here's your Kirbyco Builders Inc. cooking tip of the week: One of the best baking tips ever. This really works! If you need to soften butter quickly but don't want to MELT it, put boiling hot water in a glass to heat the glass. Dump the water out and flip it over your stick of butter. In a few minutes it will be perfectly soft to use!

As the Hellfire Gala looms ever nearer, today's issue is basically an opportunity for us to be reminded that Storm was an integral part of the Marauders team... despite the fact that she's hardly done anything with them over the past couple of years worth of stories! It's Ororo's farewell dinner... with plenty of sorta-kinda forced emotion and jokes about knives. I have an agenda... and that agenda is based on one title... THE MARVELS! Yes, Captain Marvel 2 officially has a title, and it implies (at least in my mind) much more than the mere two words defined. I have theories, but first, I want to discuss some of our favorite BIPOC and female superheroes. It may not make much sense as you're reading this, but it will all tie together by the end of the episode. BRING ON MORE O.P. A.F. A uniquely formatted episode. The first half has Conquer The Gauntlet Pros Jay Flores, Evan Perperis and Miranda Huber talking about running the event at Motus Ninjas in Kansas City. Miranda ran the virtual event alongside Evan finishing first. The second half of the episode we talk to male winner Fred Clarke-Louie and 2nd place female Mary Koester about what it was like running their virtual event. This episode of X-Men Evolution is called "African Storm," which means we didn't have high expectations for it, and that was the right call. Somehow, Xavier manages to co-opt the situation to convince Ororo that they should kick Evan out of the X-Mansion. Is it possible that Xavier was behind this entire charade? Ororo & Callisto - enemies turned friends turned enemies turned companions. These two warriors rage against each other time and time again, and in doing so, they discover the ties that bind them. Or are those tentacles? X-Couple month continues as we look at these combatants as seen in the X-Treme X-Men storyline, "The Arena." To help us discuss their unique romance, we're using "The Normal Bar: Where Does Your Relationship Fall?" by Chrisanna Northrup, Pepper Schwartz, and James Witte. Does analyzing your relationship by comparing it to others work? Those looking to explore Ororo & Callisto's relationship further should read Sara Century's excellent piece, "Storm vs. Callisto, and the Uneasy Alliance of Heroes and Villains." Issues covered in this episode: "X-Treme X-Men" issues 36 - 39, written by Chris Claremont, penciled by Igor Kordey, and inked by Kordey, Scott Hanna, Sandy Florea, Mark McKenna, Andrew Pepoy, Norm Rapmund, and Josef Rubinstein. Mejor dicho, la región no se destaca en la ciencia, estamos reprobados, rajados..como diríamos en Colombia. ¿Entonces por qué hablar en nuestros países de turismo científico? ¿qué es lo que podemos ofrecer? Today, Host Ausin is here to talk about the stormy history of Ororo Monroe AKA Storm, one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe. What does the future hold for this incredibly underutilised character? Find out, Mystorians!
With nearly 30 years of experience with racism and 400+ years of trauma that's been passed down into my very DNA, I know exactly what racism is. I know how it impacts Black folx. I know how it is ingrained in every fabric of thiscountry's very being. I also know how to combat it, tear it out. I know how to burn it out of existence. I am a Black woman who has experienced racial trauma from the day I was born, experienced it within the very reaches of my soul. I have inherited the racial trauma through DNA from my ancestors, who were enslaved African people from several parts of Africa. I've spent years studying, researching, and crafting conversations regarding race. I've shouldered the burden of labor – emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Healing remains a spurious hope, a fanciful dream, yet something I actively seek and relentlessly endeavor to attain. I follow this path toward healing by way of my anti-racism consulting firm, The Blackful, my Project Snow Storm, which is anti-racism training in action, providing Black children and families education services who would otherwise not have options with my nonprofit organization C.A.L.I. and by lifting up and giving to Black women/femmes and children through my nonprofit organization, Black Women Lead: The Black Femme Fund. I am educator with years of experience and three degrees -- two undergraduate degrees in early childhood education and a Master's degree in Special Education. I dedicate my life to giving Black children access to high quality education. I know the importance of education. I know how that can change a child's entire situation, perspective, and outcome. I am a mother, a wife, a sista girl… I am a warrior for my people. Payment Links: Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/theblackful?f... We’re finally here. The end of our Claremont X-Men run here on the Character Corner. We started this almost 6 months ago. To be fair we took a few detours and breaks but we’re wrapping it up now. Honestly, this has been one of our favorite series of episodes and not just because we got to talk about the X-Men. Rereading Claremont’s run and what he was able to do really exposed how much of the traits of the X-Men come from his time on the series. And even though this took us 5 episodes (4 on the X-Men and one on the New Mutants) by the end, we still only scratched the surface. We barely touched Excalibur and we didn’t revisit the Wolverine series that Claremont was also writing at the time. There’s just so much. For this last run we cover the 19 remaining issues of New Mutants that Claremont wrote before handing off to Louise Simonson (who deserves a lot of credit for what she wrote in New Mutants and X-Factor running parallel to Claremont), the lead up to and through X-tinction Agenda, the Muir Island Saga with the return of the Shadow King and then the first 3 issues of the 1991 X-Men book. The Trauma of the New Mutants - New Mutants #35 - 54 We last left off the New Mutants they had just returned from Asgard and Magneto, fresh off his trial, was now headmaster of Xavier’s school. Now in Part 3 of our series, we touch on some of the later stuff that happens with the New Mutants when Simonson is writing but for these 19 issues, it’s important to note that Claremont focused on the trauma of the students as well as the growth of Magneto. To say the New Mutants up to this point have been put through the ringer is an understatement. While we only covered it briefly, Secret Wars 2 is a traumatizing event for the students because…they die. The Beyonder basically uses them as his play things and so Magneto is left trying to not only earn their trust as their headmaster but cut through the core of their PTSD. Throw in the always scheming Emma Frost and the completely terrible Empath and the job of Erik gets even harder. Claremont’s run on New Mutants can really be summed up as an exploration of young teen mutants trying to navigate a world that hates them while still trying to be kids. X-tinction Agenda Back on the X-Men side, the X-Men themselves aren’t fairing that much better. While they’ve taken over the old Reaver’s base in Australia and are fresh off of Inferno, things start taking a turn. The Reavers and Lady Deathstroke strike back and crucify Wolverine. Betsy uses the Siege Perilous to escape the trap set by the Reavers which will later have some pretty disastrous consequences. The results are what lead to Betsy being captured by the Hand and having her body switched with that of an Asian woman, Colossus becoming a painter and later being manipulated and controlled by the Shadow King and then Havok becoming a Magistrate for the Genoshians. This is the backdrop leading into X-Tinction Agenda which sees Cameron Hodge teaming up with the Genoshians to get his revenge on the X-Men. While the X-Men are able to beat Hodge, the New Mutant’s Warlock is one of the early casualties. During this time, we also get introduced to other X-Men that will eventually become mainstays on future X-Teams. A young Chinese American mutant named Jubilee shows up in issue #244. Gambit makes a cameo in Uncanny X-Men Annual #14 and Uncanny X-Men #266. This is Storm’s Story One of the things that cannot be understated his how much Claremont’s X-Men run is really about Storm. Ororo is a constant presence in Claremont’s run. Before X-Tinction Agenda, Storm is thought to be dead but is really stripped of her memory and put in a young girl’s body. This is where she meets up with Gambit while being pursued by the Shadow King. While she gains her memories back, for a while she’s still left in that young girl’s body with limited control of her powers. Yet she’s still leader of the X-Men. Claremont makes it abundantly clear how important she is.

Kriss and Dpalm are back with part 2 of their Chris Claremont X-Men series. For this episode we pick up right after the end of the Dark Phoenix saga with issue 139 and go all the way through the iconic issue 200. The key to this portion of the run is recognizing that this is where most of the most notable qualities of the characters we love come from. From the friendship between Nightcrawler & Wolverine to Ororo's mothering of Kitty Pryde and leadership of the entire X-Men team. Really this arc is about the youngest X-Man, Kitty Pryde, and her mentor/mother figure Ororo. This arc of the X-Men really shows how much Claremont pushed the idea of female characters having their own agency, power and arcs. This is also when he takes back Carol Danvers and literally erases her past to build her back up again (Listen to our Captain Marvel Part 2 episode for more on this). This is part of the arc that really elevates the X-Men into the characters we know and love today. Issues: Days of Future Past Issues 141 & 142 Issue 150 - Magneto sinks the Leningrad Issue #155 - First appearance of The Brood Brood Saga Issue 161 - 166 First Appearance of Madelyne Pryor - Issue 168 Storm vs Callisto - Issue 170 Juggernaut vs Colossus fight - Issue 183 Trial of Magneto - Issue #200 You'll want to check out the following older character corners as well: Cyclops and Havok Kitty Pryde & Colossus Wolverine We're also going to take another detour and cover the X-Men spin-off, New Mutants, which Claremont begins writing during this part of his X-Men run as well. This week, to commemorate the recent release of "X-Men: Apocalypse", we feature a special Bladtcast Classic #39, "Welcome to the X-Men, Bladtcast...Hope you Survive the Experience" (Originally Posted 11/20/13), which was entirely devoted to Christian's 90 minute conversation with long-time X-Men writer Chris Claremont. They discuss what was then new "X-Men Gold", the great X-Men stories of yesteryear including "The Dark Phoenix Saga" and "Days of Future Past", X-Men films, the latest of which at that time was "The Wolverine", plus also discussion about Star Trek, time travel, alternate realities, one of Chris's most recent projects "Madra, The She Wolf", the e-books of his "High Frontier" trilogy, a fantastic story about the original cast of "Saturday Night Live" and much more! For more about Chris, go to ChrisClaremont.com Thinking back on this episode, Christian said that it was one of his absolute favorite experiences in doing the Bladtcast, and his favorite thing was the way that Mr. Claremont referred to the X-Men by their real names as opposed to their code names or "super hero names", such as Logan, Ororo, Kurt, and, especially Charlie. If you enjoy listening half as much as he enjoyed recording it, you'll have a smile on your face for the next hour and a half.
Character Corner - A Podcast on Your favorite Comic Book Characters
%CODECCBP% If you're looking for the essential marvel comics to read for Black Panther then look no further. With his first solo movie just over a month away, its time to revisit our Character Corner episode that goes through the history of the first black super hero in mainstream comics. T'Challa made his live action debut in Captain America: Civil War but the importance and interest in the character goes back much further. In this episode, we break down what exactly Wakanda is and how progressive the writing for both Wakanda & T'Challa was even back in the 60's. Black Panther was given the spotlight in the Jungle Action series where he even took on and fought the KKK. The last 90's saw a new revival for T'Challa when Christopher Priest took over for Black Panther Volume 3. Looking back, this run is very problematic (it's a bit hotepy and the depiction of women/little girls is bad), but it represented a huge shift in how Black Panther & Wakanda were represented. This is the run that hooked a lot of people on the character of T'Challa and the concept of Wakanda. For all it's issues, Priest did a great job of elevating T'Challa to basically being Marvel's Batman while expanding on what Wakanda really was. As problematic as the depiction is, credit also has to be given to Priest for introducing the concept of the Dora Milaje. Priest's run redefined Black Panther and subsequent writers just built on that. Reginald Hudlin's run on Black Panther has moments that fall flat but also provide some significant changes to the character. For good or bad, Hudlin retcons the history of T'Challa and the X-Men Storm so that Ororo is the "one true love" of T'Challa. Personally the Storm/T'Challa marriage was poorly thought out, unnecessary and executed. But Hudlin also introduces us to Shuri, T'Challa's sister and eventual successor as ruler of Wakanda. Our episode goes into further details with each of these series and more. We go into T'Challa's relationship with the other rulers in the Marvel Universe: Namor, Black Bolt and Doctor Doom. The rivalry between Doctor Doom & T'Challa takes the character to the next level. Like I said, we cover a lot. So give it a listen. Comic Issues: Fantastic Four #52 - First appearance of Black Panther (T'Challa) The Avengers #52 - Black Panther joins the Avengers Jungle Action #5- #24 - First feature with Black Panther as star #6 - First appearance of Erik Killmonger #19-24 - Black Panther vs The Klan Black Panther vol 3 - Christopher Priest Black Panther vol 4 - Reginald Hudlin Bride of the Panther Issues 14-18. Most people with little knowledge of comic books and comic book characters know a few things about X-Men's Storm, aka Ororo Munroe. After losing both her parents during the Suez Canal Crisis in Cairo, Egypt, an orphaned Ororo became a young pickpocket. From there, she wandered into Kenya where a group of uncontacted peoples worshipped her as a goddess. It was in Kenya that Professor Charles Xavier, creator of the original roster of X-Men, sought her out to join a second incarnation of X-Men with Wolverine, Thunderbird, Colossus, Nightcrawler and others from around the world. Ororo gave up her life as a goddess to accept Professor Xavier's proposition to join a world that, not only doesn't worship her, but despises her for being born with a genetic mutation -- the power to control the weather.
In which Professor X is (canonically!) a jerk, Miles has Sidrian Hunter feelings, Kitty Pryde is Clarissa Darling with a dragon, we introduce a drinking game, the X-Men do Barbarella, For more information on this and other episodes, check out xplainthexmen.com!
Dissatisfied with the complete lack of empowered women of color in Hollywood's superhero pantheon, Maya Glick decided to take matters into her own hands and fill in that blank herself with a bold new take on her favorite X-Men character: Ororo Munroe, best known as Storm. She joined us to discuss her project currently production as well as this refreshing take on the punk Storm.
David Munroe, American photojournalist, married N'Dare, an African princess. And despite the vast differences in their cultures, their love bonded them, as did their child, Ororo, a name meaning beauty. Exhausted by American racism, they moved to Cairo, where, well, a plane crashed into their house, killing them. Chris Claremont started this story, and other writers have added to the story in unexpected places. Hear Chad delve deep with the wonderful Barr Foxx in a very special episode.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
