I chose Persona Non Grata by Exodus, as it is honestly one of my new favorite albums of all time. It is such a strong and bludgeoning return since the return of Steve "Zetro" Souza and the release of "Blood In, Blood Out" in 2014.  After significant delay due to Gary Holt stepping into the late Jeff Hanneman's shoes of Slayer and of course the pandemic, the album is absolute sonic and thrash perfection. Exodus has always been one to capture the signs of the times,encapsulate major occurrences and tackle subject matter deemed too dark for many others, always to great effect. What makes Exodus great and the Thrash titans they always have been is on full display on this record. My guest on Episode 213 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is a "Neighborhood guy". With roots in Brooklyn and residing in Long Island, Mark Menghi has done and continues to do amazing things. From being a regular at L'Amour to playing in local bands in venues all over New York City. He became friendly with members of legendary metal bands. He founded and put together "Metal Allegiance" with him, Dave Ellefson of "Megadeth", Mike Portnoy of "Dream Theater" and a ton of other bands and Alex Skolnick of "Testament". The even cooler thing is that they rotate guest singers and musicians. There's been appearances by Phil Anselmo, Gary Holt, Zetro, Andreas Kisser, Charlie Benante, Geezer Butler, Mark Osegueda and a ton of others. Way too many to name. He also played bass on the "BPMD" project with Bobby Blitz, Phil Demmel and Mike Portnoy as well. Super interesting guy. Much respect. Enjoy.

My guests on Episode 207 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace aren't just the second wave of Bay Area Thrash Metal, but they're the second generation. Cody and Nick Souza, sons of Steve "Zetro" Souza of "Exodus". After "Zetro" left "Hatriot" due to commitments with "Exodus", his son Cody took over vocals and bass while Nick got behind the drums. This happened to be the second time we recorded due to me messing up the audio the first time around, but I could talk to these guys every day. Super cool and professional. The band rules and they'll definitely be back on when their upcoming record "Vale Of Shadows" gets released on "Massacre Records" later this year. Straight up Bay Area Thrash Metal.
