Inspired by a love of nature and extensive travels to Europe, especially Italy, Arizona artist Sandra Marshall draws from a plethora of stored mental images she has captured over the years. Sandra's main focus is on contemporary botanical paintings – creating sought-after works of art that offer unique color combinations that are exquisitely rich and harmonious. Her flowers are rendered in rhythmic, organic compositions in rich oils, and mixed media on canvas. Her love for music is often depicted in her paintings with her botanicals that she has often been told look like they are dancing, and have a musical quality. Her awareness of rhythm and balance helps her to create fun energy that helps to convey the beauty all around her.Early on, Sandra showed a talent and love of color and art and always drew or painted -- receiving accolades from teachers and others who saw her work. After studying color, and painting in her early years in a private art institute with Jean Fitzhenry, she became accomplished in a variety of media including oils, pastels, acrylic and mixed media and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education with an emphasis in Art Education/Painting. A New York native, Sandra is a master colorist and attributes her passion to childhood trips into New York City to visit the museums, and galleries. Sandra's Mom, an accomplished wildlife photographer and gardener, who always had an eye for composition, was a big influence in Sandra's love for nature and flowers. She also worked as an art director for 3-Ball Productions in Hollywood in addition to painting backdrops for the Disney Channel and working on set designs. Before marrying and starting a family back in the states, Sandra studied art in Italy, which led to co-creating an inventive company in Italy called “Porta a Porta”, which means door to door in Italian. Sandra would bring aspiring artists from the United States and fly them to Italy and while under her instruction, the students would learn to paint as they were surrounded by the stunning Tuscan Hillsides. Sandra has used her combination of color mastery, painting and teaching skills to design a career that has been immensely satisfying for both herself and her clients. In addition to her works of art that she continues to push the boundaries of color and beauty, Sandra volunteers in schools with her successful “I Draw, You Draw program. Says Sandra,” My mind is constantly coming up new designs and ideas of things to paint and I enjoy sharing that enthusiasm with my students. The excitement of each new painting is like taking a voyage to an unknown place – the anticipation, exploration and the journey --- I can’t get enough! 4025 E. Sisters Sara GilBride and Laura Prefling are native Phoenicians, both graduating from Apollo High School and Northern Arizona University. While Sara has a background in management and government contracts and Laura has a background in communications and public relations, their shared love of family and food brought them together to open their first Dream Dinners in 2006. In 2007, they bought their second location – the Ahwatukee store which had opened in 2004. A few years later, brought the bravery (and naivety!) to open a third location, located in Scottsdale. Growing up, Sara and Laura’s mom MADE them sit down at the dinner table every night, and MADE them drink their milk. As teenagers, it was utterly infuriating to have no TV and no answering the phone… which was at the time, of course, a landline, hanging on the wall that the whole family had to share! Well, fast forward 15… or 20… or 30 years and both Sara and Laura now see the importance of what their mom was trying to do. And now, as Laura is mom to 3 kids and Sara is stepmom to a teenager, they also enjoy “torturing” their own children with these same important rules. It is now not only a job, but a passion for them to help bring other families together around the dinner table. https://dreamdinners.com/

“Eloquent, innovative, entertaining and passionate…” are words often used to describe Bobby D. His passion for a greater world has led him to a career in being a leader of change. He entered the nonprofit world through stage work as a world champion auctioneer. He realized his passion and skill had a greater purpose. From the stage he works to make everyone in a room feel excited to participate in change. Encouraging donations to flow by driving the mission moments. He works with, challenges and cures the problems of donor support. Each organization feels his great passion as he advocates for their specific cause. He has years of experience public speaking and raising millions of dollars of support for nonprofits nationwide. His greatest skill comes from all the education and experience he has to work not just at an event but in depth consulting before an event, driving huge changes to cultivate support before he even takes the stage, working together with organizations and boards to exceed their fundraising goals. Bobby D. speaks at and teaches many expert seminars to other industry people to show them how effective their special appeals can be in changing the world. Bobby D. creates the perfect mission moment. He works with organizations to find their heart and convey it to their guests. His greatest moment is when he knows that because of their work together he inspired a guest into a life time supporter of the organization. Opening their eyes, wallets, and hearts to forever be the change. These “goose-bump-moments” are his favorite. www.calltoauction.com

Managing the POS and Inventory systems for 50 restaurants nationwide. She eventually was promoted to the IT Director for 18 restaurants cross-country. Missing the everyday bustle of a restaurant, she completed the pastry program at Le Cordon Bleu and spent the next couple of years running a bakery. However, her entrepreneur spirit won't let her be. Over the years working with different establishments, she realized that the demise of many restaurants were the fine details that owner/operators are missing in the everyday flow. Her story unfolds with an energetic spirit of life and a passion for living each day to the fullest. After 25 years of restaurant and managerial experience, Tammy decided to take a new career path but that path was not certain. Her son convinced her to join a gym with him and what became of that was a total transformation. Tammy had no fitness experience or desire to even be involved in the fitness industry. Each passing day led to new discovery, a transformation not only in her own physique but in the way fitness is viewed as a whole. True fitness starts within each one of us. It’s not about how many pushups or reps you can do. It’s about building lasting relationships, making each day better than the day before, going the extra mile, not taking life so seriously and understanding that until you walk a minute in someone else’s shoes you have no idea what that person is going through. This is the key to success – to meet each person where they are and build them up, educate them, to be open and understanding, to realize it starts with one and ends with many. She has been blessed as a coach and instructor for the last 14 years in the fitness industry, grateful for the opportunity to use fitness as a platform to make a difference and build relationships. Tammy recently took a position managing Hub Fitness welcoming the opportunity to bring people together. Here we will learn what the Hub is all about and her recipe for success. www.thehubfitness.com

Bio Steve Laskarides: Owner and Executive Director of Visiting Angels Home Care serving Ahwatukee. Steve has gone from 20 years of experience as an Engineer and Engineering Manager working in the high tech semi-conductor industry to owning a Home Care company. One may wonder how does that happen! How do you go from being an Engineer to running a Home Care company!?? Steve has passion to ensure the Welfare and Safety of others. Steve started out his previous career as an Engineer responsible for $100+ million worth of equipment and loved every minute of it but after about 5 years and suffering from some serious tunnel vision Steve desired to do more and more importantly work more closely with others. As a young Engineer Steve started down a leadership path and quickly became a Group Leader and Manager of up to 25 people. Steve loved helping his employee’s both professionally and personally. The majority of Steve’s employees worked in the manufacturing environment and early on a few of his employees were hurt on the job. Luckily nothing too serious but this kept Steve up at night! In Engineering you are following the same procedures and checklists on a weekly sometimes daily basis. If one person got hurt following a procedure the likelihood that someone else could get hurt was high. To address this Steve developed a Proactive Safety Program that determined when and where the next injury would occur before it happened and then systematically removed that potential. This effectively eliminated injuries for his team, it worked so well that it was disseminated to his department of about 500 people, that worked so well it was disseminated to his factory (3000 people), that worked so well that it was disseminated to the entire campus (6000 people), that worked so well that it was then disseminated to the corporation worldwide!! Keeping people Safe and Saving Lives is what Steve enjoyed the most during his previous career, Steve realized that caring for others was his passion and calling in life. Even though Steve had a great career he planned to officially “retire” at the earliest opportunity to start his next chapter in life which would have occurred when he reached 49 and a half but an opportunity presented itself to retire about 5 years earlier than planned and Steve seized it and he is very happy that he did! Steve has a great business sense and entrepreneurial spirit, Steve always knew that he wanted to get into Senior Care in some way be it starting a Group Home, investing in an Assisted Living Facility, or Home Care. After much research Steve chose Home Care and Visiting Angles as one of the best! With this Steve gets to continue to keep people safe and improve their well-being, he still gets to help employees develop in their careers and personal lives, and he gets to exercise his business acumen and entrepreneurialship, its what he was meant to do! Steve is highly active in our local Senior and business communities. Steve is an active board member of the Senior Advocacy Group of Ahwatukee (the SAGA), Steve sponsors local church events, donations to local churches, and he is a member of the Ahwatukee Chamber of Commerce. 480-886-1165 & 800-365-4189 16815 S Desert Foothills Pkwy, Suite 123, Phoenix, AZ 85048 http://www.visitingangels.com/SouthPhoenix/home
Chris moved out to Arizona in 1996 from Chicago and purchased my first home in Ahwatukee in December of 1998. Chris and his wife have two children, ages 10 and 7. Like many from the Midwest, he moved out here for the weather. Chris played professional golf until the end of 2012 and spent years traveling the world in search of his fortune. While he never reached the levels of Tiger Woods, he has played with him and competed on the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour, the Asian Tour, among many other stops along the way. On the advice of my father-in-law, he entered the insurance field almost 5 years ago and is happy with the career. www.chriskamin.com

For most people, the journey from Los Angeles to Phoenix takes about eight hours. For Nick Knight, a California native, it took 13 years and a somewhat less direct route via Washington State and New York before landing in the Valley in 1984. Along the way he acquired one wife and two daughters. He has enjoyed successful careers as a professional photographer, award-winning audio-visual writer/producer, and graphic designer prior to finding his calling for the last 32 years as a computer whisperer. During those last three decades, he owned an award-winning audio-visual production company, helped create a national publications center for Transamerica Real Estate Tax Service, created and managed a unified Information Technology infrastructure for a commercial mortgage banker with five offices in three states, and was part of an award-winning IT support team for GMAC Commercial Mortgage before starting his own technology services firm in 2004. Nick began his company with the primary focus on providing a personalized level of service that he felt was missing from some of the big box and chain computer service shops. He describes his company mission statement as a cross between the Golden Rule and Boy Scouts – to treat his clients the way he wishes to be treated and always try to do his best. That formula has served him well as he recently celebrated his 13th year in business. Nick found his way from Scottsdale to Ahwatukee courtesy of match.com in 2008 and joined the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce in 2010 to immerse himself and become an active participant in this close-knit community. Active might be an understatement. Since joining the Chamber, Nick has served as an Ambassador, networking leads group facilitator, event volunteer, helped develop and coordinate the Chamber’s Ahwatukee Business Development educational program, been a member and Silver Sponsor of the Public Policy Committee, facilitated and sponsored the Ahwatukee Chamber Computer Lab, maintained the Chamber’s computer systems, and helped charter Arizona’s first Chamber- associated Toastmasters Club. Nick currently chairs the Public Policy Committee and is President of the Ahwatukee Chamber Toastmasters. Nick believes strongly in the obligation to give back to the community that has so warmly embraced him and his commitment to that principle extends beyond the Chamber. Nick and his wife, Angela, hosted for several years an annual “wine- luck” to benefit Child Crisis Center, and Nick has volunteered at Feed My Starving Children and several events at the Kyrene Foundation including the recent “Stuff the Bus” drive, where volunteers assembled packages of donated school items into more than 500 backpacks for disadvantaged children. He was honored for his service as the inaugural Chamber Ambassador of the Year in 2012 and Volunteer of the Year in 2013, and has been nominated several times for Small Business of the Year.
