What does it look like when all three brains are working optimally and communicating together effectively? What does it look like when burnout happens in each of our brain centers? Key takeaways 3 brains: head, heart, and gut. The head brain is cognitive perception and meaning, the heart brain is all about our emotions and how we relate to things, and finally, our gut brain's main function is about mobilization toward reward and away from fear and danger. Our prefrontal cortex is designed to preserve energy. Foundational sequence: start with the heart, then the head, back to the heart, and then the gut and finally back to the heart. You are not going to trust something that you haven't spent time with (your different brain centers). We need to give each of our brains its own platform to do what it needs to do. Yolandi is the managing director for the NeuroCoach institute. Yolandi has extensive training, skills & development experience and is an accredited SETA & TETA assessor & moderator. She is also a qualified Occupationally Directed- Education, Training & Development Practitioner with a bunch of certifications and years of experience. She also describes herself as a mother, a wife, an educator, a coach, a mentor, and loving it all. She truly believes in coaching as it is the process of assisting people to think about things differently. This is something very foundational to the mission of Exploring Possibility. Noteworthy questions: What do you mean by fears and fixations and how does that relate to fulfillment? Why do some people pop quick fix pills instead of using the tools readily available from the body? How do we distinguish between sympathetic and parasympathetic systems? Key takeaways With our inner world, we need to explore ways of how to get our inner world back. Reframing is about looking at ourselves from the 3rd person and is a 3-step process: acknowledge, observe, and create a new story. The moment we feel stuck, that is the moment that the sympathetic system goes into overdrive. Balanced breathing: inhale for 6sec, hold for 6sec, exhale for 6sec. We’re balancing the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. Noteworthy questions: What were your biggest shifts towards personal growth? (10:07) What does regression hypnosis entail? (16:27) How do we get integrated with uplifting people? (37:51) Key takeaways We, as human beings, learn through contrast to see what we do and don’t want. Our emotions can be seen as alarm bells. They help us gauge whether we’re aligned with our soul’s mission on earth. The things that are meant to join you on your journey will follow if you just focus on growing you. Jane Kise is a writer, education consultant, and corporate trainer. Her 25 books range from finding meaning to teambuilding to resources for educators. She is a past president of the Association for Psychological Type International, an organization dedicated to constructive use of differences. Her deep knowledge into the field of personality and work makes her the perfect fit to discuss how we can navigate our way towards a fulfilling future, one that involves using our strengths and matching our work with our core needs. Noteworthy questions: Do we find our fit by asking what makes us unique? (12:54) How deeply should we study our personality? (17:49) Should we all be lifelong learners? (33:31) How do different personalities go about finding their fit? (44:12) Key takeaways Personality doesn’t determine what you will do but it shows the patterns that people like you have found fulfilling. Once you understand your motivation, you don’t necessarily have to change careers. Match your core motivators to your current work to increase fulfillment. Schooling around the world has us only testing talents in a very few areas. Nicky Abdinor is an exceptional person. Nicky was born without arms and shortened legs, a physical disability that had no medical explanation. She believes supportive parents, a determined personality and inclusion in mainstream education were key factors in overcoming her physical limitations. She still maintains a bigger smile than most people we see today. Her talks are packed with positive psychology, childlike joy and lots of humour. Noteworthy questions: When did your model of the world change? (9:42) What does the process of reframing look like for you? (12:41) How does growth mindset integrate with positive psychology? (24:24) What is the first step to get back to childlike curiosity? (31:52) Key takeaways We can always find a story of somebody who’s got similar circumstances and has overcome it. We are hardwired to focus on the things we can’t do. Our uniqueness is our greatest strength. To be childlike requires that we play again and be vulnerable. Gavin designs and delivers coaching interventions as well as supervising and training coaches. Gavin is most effective in supporting people to think for themselves; to manage their stress levels and create more balance in their lives; to be clear, purposeful and action orientated. Noteworthy questions: How do we approach uncertainty and increase bandwidth? (14:15) How do we respond if we’re in an uncertain place? (26:05) Do we need endurance in our life? (43:32) How do we build endurance into our life? (43:32) Key takeaways Those who have been going to the mental gym will have a little bit more bandwidth to navigate. Ask yourself, is this happening TO me or FOR me? If so, am I allowing it to happen? When you’re grateful, you can’t be afraid at the same time. It’s physiologically not possible. Do you have the intent and commitment to build yourself day by day? The things that numb and medicate you takes you away from your real experience. His gift for sharing impactful ideas & insights with unrivaled enthusiasm enables him to engage audiences from all over the world featuring a wide range of demographics, from corporate environments, universities and so much more. Noteworthy questions: What does Inspired Evolution mean? What is purpose and how can we define it? How do we step into our purpose? What is mindfulness and how can we utilize it? Key takeaways Purpose is the conversation around fulfillment. Purpose is directly aligned with your health. If you’re neglecting to express that which fulfills you then you’re actually suppressing who you are. Suppressing is the opposite expression. Symptoms of flow (STER): spaciousness, timelessness, effortless & richness. Your space already informs and is already representing to you your curiosities. Simphiwe Petros is the co-founder of the SBK leadership academy. He is also a radio personality, TV presenter, speaker and teacher. The purpose of this academy is to develop servant leaders that meet the needs of the community around them. SBKs young leaders are being cultivated to be the solution to tomorrow’s problems. Noteworthy questions: What are the leadership qualities that all leaders should have today? (17:17) How can your regular average Joe also be a leader in their own environment? (20:36) How do we live a life that is unplugged and in charge? (23:45) Key takeaways The premise of leadership is to create other leaders, not followers. Popularity commands attention, influence inspires action in others. Leadership is not about yourself. It’s about being the example and inspiring others through integrity. His unlimited fascination with the future has seen him become Africa’s first faculty member at Singularity University in San Francisco, a lecturer at Duke Corporate Education in Johannesburg, and a Partner Associate at the Copenhagen Institute of Future Studies in Denmark. Author of best-sellers What’s Your Moonshot, Magnetize and FOREsight, John is also the Co-founder and Chief Exponential Officer at Future Self Academy, an author-led, online platform that connects the curious to leading thinkers. Noteworthy questions: What is the quantum world? (14:57) How can we become exponential thinkers? (18:57) Where is the balance in future-thinking? (25:04) How can we prepare for the future? (29:22) Key takeaways You will never be gifted or celebrated when you stay in your comfort zone. The only way to be exponential is to be unique in the skillset and the value you add into the world. Thinking exponentially puts too much pressure on us. Allow your heart and your curiosity to make decisions. The dreamer of the dream creates the reality. 90% of the world is addicted to anxiety and worry. Harris Fanaroff is a former Lehigh University baseball player who now helps businesses, leaders, and athletes have difficult conversations. Conversations which are necessary for growth and optimal performance. As a leadership and business development coach, Harris has a gift for helping people uncover the deep issues that hold them back from excellence in business and in life. Through his own journey we’re able to digest his decision making framework and see how he has had to make his way through seemingly tough decisions and moments within his sport career. He had to adapt his story to become who he is today and to share that in a way that helps others go forward. Noteworthy questions: What are the limitations and dangers of getting attached to an identity? (8:39) How do we approach a flexible identity? (10:38) What can we do to build our confidence to perform more optimally? (14:18) How do we get into a flow state? (20:04) How do you deal with failure? (24:59) Key takeaways Approach identity from a wider perspective and spread out what the ‘label’ or title means to you so that you can experience less of a drop during a transition period. You need to be prepared enough to not think while performing. When you can control and choose your self talk then you immediately take control of your performance. Control controllables and let uncontrollables go. You get to decide how you react and show up with the provided data. Nothing big has truly ever been accomplished without a huge failure next to it. As a TEDx speaker he made it into the Top 1% of most watched videos (over 1.9 million views). He’s been conducting immersive training experiences for people who want to transcend their current limits and expand their life. Noteworthy questions: How do we become extraordinary? (32:20) What is success velocity and how do we use it? (37:09) What is the acorn principle for success? (43:00) Commitment. Why is it vital for our success? (45:11) Key takeaways Structure your life to make it a perfect fit for the qualities that you bring to the world. A motive without an action is just a wish. An action without a motive with just random behavior. Focus on your nobler motives. Focus on the desirable and the helpful motives. The first step in activating your nobler motives occurs within the power minute. The power minute is the opportunity gap between thinking or feeling and doing something about it. As an Empowerment Strategist, Jennifer works with practitioners and clients who are feeling stuck and overwhelmed by typical, mainstream modalities. Over the past several years, Jennifer has studied the life-long effects of trauma and abuse and she has discovered several tools and techniques that work well for overcoming these effects that often hold us back in life. Jennifer uses all of these tools and techniques to help he clients explore the depths of themselves in order to effect change in their lives. Noteworthy questions: How do we renegotiate the nervous system? (9:02) Do our emotions get affected by the outer or inner world? (22:09) How do we discern emotions? (29:42) What is trauma and how do we work through it? (46:44) Key takeaways In your first 7 years of your life, you are in a brain wave state that creates much of who you are. If you are the common element in a repeating pattern then it’s worth looking at yourself as the obstacle. Just because you have the right to be (add emotion - eg. angry), does not mean you should let (emotion) dictate your words or actions. If there is no space between stimulus and response, we automatically go into reaction. Sebastian Little - NCAA Division I football player, leadership speaker, and mental performance coach. Having learned, implemented, studied, and taught mental performance strategies, Sebastian retains an authentic first-hand connection between theory and application. He frequently works with individual athletes, teams, and schools to drive results at all levels of the organization. His mission: To build a world where leaders, teams, and organizations show up and perform at their best every single day. Noteworthy questions: What is the mental game? (10:10) How important is it to work on the mental game? (11:47) What are the actual rewards for high performance? (21:07) How can we improve our mental capacity? (29:11) Key takeaways Through pain comes a lot of resilience. Most of our mental game is structured around routine. As you move up higher into performance, what becomes more and more important is how you execute the fundamentals. Growth = stress + rest. If you’re not pushing the envelope close to failure, you’re not going to reap the benefits of doing so. One of the biggest ways we can all learn is to distill down the information and share it with others. You don’t control winning. You control the factors and preparation that allow you to perform at your best. Gilan is a global authority on influence. He has presented for international companies, business organisations and government agencies in 30 countries across Europe, Africa, Asia and America, and is the author of the bestselling book Persuasion Games. With two decades' experience as a professional mentalist, Gilan creates unique learning experiences that help people unleash their influence. He teaches how to apply a working knowledge of influence and persuasion to real-life practical situations, to be able to lead, sell, negotiate, market and inspire on a new level. He says that the techniques that he uses are as accessible to anyone as the ability to breathe, all you need to do is learn how to apply them. POWERFUL! Noteworthy questions: Which skills and philosophies are under mentalism? (09:11) What is influence and how necessary is it to develop influence as a skill? (29:29) What is the Rapid Influence Formula? (34:10) Key takeaways Question-storming: Rather than thinking about ideas, it’s about thinking about questions. The mind, speech and body are all interlinked. Everything that we experience and think is in our field of consciousness. Body language is a more reliable source of information than what somebody is saying because it’s easy to change what we want to say. Our reality is the sum of everything that has come before it to make that moment what it is. James is a high performance coach, speaker, entrepreneur, dad and more. He is also the founder of Reignite Enterprises. It is the culmination of his life’s work and it aims to bring quality, conscious education to the world and help more people live their truth. It allows people to transcend extremely outdated learning models and step into a more empowered, fulfilled life. Noteworthy questions: What is freedom and how do we get there? (09:16) Does purpose drive productivity? (23:48) What does it mean to reignite? (27:01) How much of our education should be conscious based? (43:10) Key takeaways Potential is not about achieving it, it’s about expanding it. 3 P’s to live life more successfully: Purpose: find meaning in what you do. Passion: What lights you up. Presence: Being aware of how you live. Sometimes the greatest risks, in terms of following our passion, bring the greatest rewards. (16:54) Could a simple shift in how we view the world change our trajectory of our life? (27:55) Key takeaways Your words don’t describe the world that you live in, it determines the world you live in. The voids in your life create your values. We upgrade ourselves every year; why don’t we upgrade ourselves? You don’t need to know how a car was built to drive one. All our challenges in our past has molded us into who people see today. (28:30) Is gratitude and self love the ultimate state of being? (30:35) Why does this equation work in changing lives? (33:08) Key takeaways Our RAS (Reticular Activating System) helps us see things by drawing from what we focus on. If there is a big bang then there must be a big banger. Your purpose is already inside of you and you are already living it. Your brain is a purpose seeking organ, it will see things that you or others can't see. It knows. An acclaimed marketer, entrepreneur and award-winning author with two multi-million dollar agencies under her belt, Stacey Ruth has been acknowledged as among the Top 50 Entrepreneurs in Atlanta, and twice as one of the Top 100 “IT” Agencies by Experiential Marketer Magazine. As an impassioned brand advocate Stacey believes that without exception, every organization can be unstoppable. Stacey is a certified ROI professional, licensed spiritual practitioner and author of Truth and Dare: Inside Out Marketing. Noteworthy questions: How can we start elevating consciousness? (9:47) What would the outcome of conscious business be for us? (18:12) What does it mean to be unstoppable and to embody it? (20:39) What is intuition and how do we cultivate it? (31:46) Key takeaways At its foundation, all business is spiritual in nature. Businesses are the extensions of who the leaders are. Owning what it is that’s driving you forward is what it means to be unstoppable. Intuition is the knowing without going from point a to point b, we leap right over. Only about 10% of our decision process is rational and linear, the other 90% is emotional and subconscious. As a young motivational speaker David has spoken in 36 states and Canada to over 350,000 students, inspiring them to look at people and things in a different way. His Facebook videos, created by Goalcast, have received over 80 million views. He speaks with passion and conviction and through his humility, leaves his audience with so much to think about in their formative years as they move into their future. Noteworthy questions: Why are we losing real connection among people? (10:53) What have you learned from Justin, your child with autism? (19:24) How can I see me when I look at you? (31:16) What is one action we can do to create more connection? (39:44) Key takeaways If you can’t remember someone’s name, remember something about them. See yourself in others and ask how can I make this moment better for them. Our phones have taken away our face-to-face interaction and are contributing to deteriorating coping skills. Sharing your problems with someone cuts them in half. Inspiration is just like food; you don’t live on what you ate weeks ago, you live on what you ate in the last couple of days. Ann is a certified coach and consultant that specializes in defining your strengths and accounting for your blind spots. She is also an MBTI Master Practitioner with a subspecialty in interpreting the MBTI Step III, a highly personalized roadmap in personality development. Ann has also studied the brain for over 35 years, first as a speech pathologist and now as an International Coaching Federation (ICF) certified coach. Noteworthy questions: Are all personality types equally strong and do they each have the same potential? (08:40) How valuable is it that we know and understand our personality and our strengths? (10:55) How do we define self-awareness? (20:48) Is there a way to measure self-awareness? (26:37) Is there a ‘success’ ratio between thinking, doing and being? (36:48) Key takeaways Becoming an entrepreneur will expose the things that you need to pay attention to that you normally wouldn’t. Self awareness is not a one way thing. It can also be referred to as other-awareness. The more self aware you are, the more other-aware you are. Pablo has spent the last 5 years as the program director of an international personal development company and designed conferences on the topics of leadership, communication, confidence, dating and more. Pablo has a B.A. in Psychology and completed over 100 hours at the official coaching training school of Tony Robbins. He is also a certified NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Practitioner. He specializes in working with men looking to live a more complete and extraordinary life. Noteworthy questions: If we struggle with personal relationships, does that affect our professional relationships? (22:02) Where do we find quality relationships, personal and professional? (26:10) What are the general blindspots in relationships? (36:00) How does body language affect our approach? (42:37) Do we have our own unique strengths when it comes to energy and relationships? (43:41) Key takeaways To become better at relationships, you have to become a better version of yourself. It takes incredible bravery and courage to say ‘I am not feeling strong today’ or ‘I am scared’. Define success on your own terms. This includes defining what a relationship means to you. The key to having a successful relationship is communication. The reason we stray away from communication is because we don’t know how to do it. Mimi Kalinda is originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda and raised in South Africa and she is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of the Africommunications Group (ACG). She is an expert in storytelling and is excellent at what she does. Presidents of nations call her to help to rebrand their countries. Her vision is to change the African narrative and change what Africans think about themselves. Noteworthy questions: Your superpower is storytelling. Where does that come from? (10:04) What do you mean when you refer to the African narrative? (15:13) Why should we raise our standards? (20:00) How can we shift our perception about past experiences? (27:35) How can we use storytelling to move ourselves and the world forward? (30:17) Key takeaways Someone’s superpower is not only what they do well but what speaks to them, their mission. On the surface we can shift behavior, but it won’t be sustainable unless you shift perception. If you are told a story over and over again, not only do you start to believe the story, but you start to behave according to the characteristics which that story assigns you. You become the person people say you are, if you allow yourself to buy into that. Focus on being excellent. It will shift how people see you, engage with you and how they need you in their space. Building your personal brand equity will have ripple effects in your life. You are, to a large extent, in charge of how you show up in the world and how people experience you from a reputation standpoint. Tim is the author of the non-fiction book called How To Ikigai. He’s also a speaker, singer and seeker of wonder. He is also the former host of a nightly national jazz program called Tonic on CBC Radio 2. At the end of a decade as a radio host, Tim felt the desire to pursue deeper meaning in his life's work (I can relate - I also had this existential moment). He left CBC to study positive psychology and Ikigai (life's worth) with a year long "Ikigai year". He has learned that his personal Ikigai is "to delight" and he now offer keynotes, workshops and music performances to share his Ikigai. Ultimately, he was also asked to speak at TedxYYC and his presentation was on how to Ikigai! Today we’ll find out more about this concept, what it means and how it can be very valuable to us! Noteworthy questions: Do you wish you found your Ikigai earlier in life? (5:50) What is Ikigai? (7:36) Does you Ikigai change throughout life? (10:40) Are the limits of the educational contributing to the problem of no Ikigai? (20:01) Why aren’t all people seeking their Ikigai? (30:04) What is the biggest takeaway from positive psychology? Tristan defines himself as a business sherpa and he is based in Melbourne with a background in leadership coaching and applied business. Unlike many coaches and consultants, however, Tristan has actually built a business – from an ad-hoc startup in his 3 square-meter kitchen to a 7-figure operation with staff and suppliers around the globe. In doing so, He’s acquired first-hand experience in everything related to business. He has survived the personal aspects of entrepreneurship as well. He’s let the allure of success (and fear of failure) consume every waking minute, and learned the hard lessons seldom taught by anyone. Noteworthy questions: How did you get awareness of and eliminate your mental health issues? (10:52) What is the shiny object syndrome and how do we escape it? (19:40) How do we find clarity? (20:27) How do we deal with perfectionism in business? (25:15) How do we deal with not having energy or enough time for our business / life? (27:32) What is one habit people benefit from to improve their business and life drastically? (34:29) Key takeaways As difficult as it is, you need to share what you are feeling. Break things down into bite-size chunks and deal with it piece by piece. It’s part of life to feel pain. It also shows that we are human. The number one step in business coaching is mindset coaching, it underpins everything else. Start with the end in mind when you are thinking of goals and your vision. Bridget is the founder of shift 1 degree which helps people grow their business. She hosts workshops and coaching for professionals or businesses looking to reach their goals. Bridget’s passion is to help people bring business ideas to life, and open doors of opportunity. Her belief is: the more you develop yourself, the more successful you will be and I truly resonate and confirm on that because it’s been personal for me as well. This begs the question: Without developing yourself how is it possible to create, develop, operate and grow a successful business and stay in love with your career? I can even branch this question out to all other facets of life. If you’re not developing yourself then what version of you are you providing to your family, friends, your spouse, etc. Noteworthy questions: How vital is health to life & business? He works with families to empower children to speak up and own their voices! With this episode we dive in and see what we can learn from Jeremy as adults! Noteworthy questions: How do we spot fear and how do we deal with it? (17:57) How did you deal with 20 years of anger? (25:01) How does sport contribute to our personal development? (30:00) What is NLP and how do we use it to our advantage? (45:52) Key takeaways You were born a winner. You had to learn to become a loser. You have got to get up and move. It helps you internalize information. The way we talk reveals how we store things in our brain. Adults think they are better at lying and rationalizing but the body can’t lie. Jack Murray is in the business of helping coaches, consultants and mentors monetize and scale their business. Most of his strategies that he teaches goes beyond business and is interwoven with life and personal development. In 2012, Jack started a coaching school in Australia called the Australian Institute of coaching and sold it in 2015. It’s still remains one of the most successful life coaching schools in Australia. His journey started with a Tony Robbins event so have a listen through to listen to his exciting story, background and insights! Noteworthy questions: Why start with life first and then business? (10:42) What has been your biggest challenge in the marketplace and how did you overcome it? (19:04) Is their value in mentorship for someone who wants to grow? (22:35) What is the best way to stretch our thinking? (24:38) What is a spiritual contract? (29:20) How do you break through fear and use it to our advantage? (38:41) Key takeaways Curiosity is the start of the process when finding your passion. The reason you care what other people think is because you are misaligned. Those who are finding incongruencies in you are actually just finding incongruencies in themselves. We just act as mirrors. The toughest challenge is being able to be you and not listen to everyone else. You should never put a mentor on a pedestal, they are human just like you. Once you put them on a pedestal, you’ll start to see insecurities and incongruencies. Paul Nyamuda is known widely as an expert in leadership and emotional intelligence. Paul is an Organisational Psychologist who has researched extensively on the subject of leadership development and personal success. His passion is unlocking greatness in individuals, teams and organisations. He has a very dynamic gift for targeting real issues and providing practical solutions. “Transform Your Thinking” is a phrase he firmly believes in and lives out daily in his life and that is what I questioned him about in this episode. He also inspires leaders across the globe to think beyond their limitations and overcome challenges that seem impossible, a mission that resonates very deeply with me and an objective which is embedded into this show as many of you know who are listening. Some questions asked Why transform our thinking? (09:15) How do we put our vision into practical steps? (15:56) What is a leader and why should we be working on our leadership skills? (21:11) What is emotional intelligence and how does it affects us and those around us? (35:48) What are the cornerstone traits for leaders? (48:28) How do we empower ourselves when stuck in our programming? (1:00:37) Key takeaways Don’t give someone else’s weakness power over your emotional state. As leaders we play a role in helping people to see themselves differently. Reciprocal nature of power: I empower you to empower me to empower you. Not making a decision is a decision in itself. If you want to be a leader, you must speak out what everyone else is whispering. From aspiring artists who need to build confidence, communication skills and branding, to those with a project that needs more exposure/publicity. Some questions asked How do we connect our strength to an occupation? (18:00) Are we born with confidence or not? (23:40) How do we move from mind to body? TAKE ACTION? (29:34) Why do we compare ourselves to others and not focus on our own journey and strengths? (34:30) Has being blind added any meaning to your life? (41:25) What is your advice to people who get labeled or stereotyped all the time? (45:14) Key takeaways Businesses & HR highly value the skill of public speaking and entrepreneurs can truly benefit from improving their skills on communication. We are all performing in our strengths, we’re just not aware of it. Confidence is the BELIEF that you can do something. You do not have to take on somebody else's identity or thought of you. Erik Kruger is a keynote speaker, author, and mental performance coach and originally started his career as a physiotherapist. He also hosts the Coached which is loaded with advice on how to approach with higher performance. He works with leaders and organizations to help them improve thinking and behavior in the context of high-performance, mental toughness, and assertiveness. He is the founder of The Mental Performance Lab and author of Acta Non Verba. The way that Erik describes and frames things really helped me to understand concepts better and to make them practical. Erik is very good at articulating ideas and solutions. He is highly focused and passionate on the notion of making people dangerous again. If you want to know what he means by that, just click play! Some questions asked What does our inner game mean? (9:11) Why is it important to develop our inner game? (11:20) Why do we get stuck in our head? (17:02) Do we need to shift our identity to create more success in our life? (19:20) How do we extract our best thinking and get the most out of our current mindset? (22:33) What is the currency of high performance? (37:25) Key takeaways Introspection is a valuable tool but it lacks input from others. You need to use different sets of feedback to uncover your blind spots. Identity is extremely closely related to how we show up in the world. One of the biggest reasons people don’t move is because of the uncertainty. Self-awareness is internal and external. Getting feedback from inside and also from the people and the world. Sometimes we are not sure how to navigate ourselves in life and then the simple answer to the confusion is to ask for help. In this episode I spoke to Warren Munitz, Executive Coach, Integration Therapist, Master NLP Coach & Trainer, Hypnotherapist & Founder of Integrative Coaching. Warren has been in the field of personal development and self-mastery for over 20 years. In this time, he studied many different forms of meditation, yoga, philosophy, empowerment, psychotherapies and esoteric paths. Some questions I asked: Typical week for personal development & executive coaches? (3:32) Why did you become a coach? (5:14) Do we go at life together or go alone? (9:30) Do we need goals? (13:50) Why do lose motivation or encouragement towards goal achievement? (24:49) Do beliefs control our life? (38:33) Do we have infinite potential? (53:21) Key takeaways: You can only reach as high as the team you have around you. The journey is not one or the other approach. It’s an integrative approach. Wisdom is the ability to hold two opposing perspectives at the same time and not judging either Be consistent when you want to create and achieve goals In the process of innovation you need to delay premature closure. The longer you delay closure, the more innovation you can get. You need to tear down the beliefs that have been shielding ultimate reality from you. Martelize woke up one morning with pain in her legs. Doctors suspected a virus, infection or inflammation in her spinal cord and this left her paralyzed. This all happened by the age of 14. Martelize has been in a wheelchair for over 20 years due to this illness she experienced as a teen. Through her seemingly discomforting situation, she felt complete freedom and joy and chose to look at life through the lens of optimism. In 2012 she started the Pink Penguin project in support of charities that challenge her outside of her comfort zone. Via this channel she’s undertaken a number of extreme adventures including kayaking to Robben Island and visiting the forests of Rwanda to see gorillas, all without the use of her legs and that is what inspires me. Some questions I asked: How can we get beyond our life restrictions? (10:36) What does it mean to have war on comfort zones? (18:36) Why do people think and behave the way they do? (24:38) What are your fears? (28:38) Has restrictions on your life helped you and is it helpful? (31:35) How do you deal with indecisiveness? (35:15) Actionable advice to change our perspective on life? (43:09) Key takeaways: Go through troublesome times one step at a time Use stubbornness to your advantage and move forward in life Say yes to opportunities without knowing how you will get it done The secret to happiness has to do with the war on comfort zones You absolutely need to challenge yourself outside of your comfort zone to grow Take the necessary steps, although they might be scary, or be unhappy for the rest of your life STRUGGLE is one of the best character builders in the world Reach out to Martelize: Website: http://www.martelizebrink.co.za Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/martelizebrink/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MartelizeBrinkRSG/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MartelizeBrink HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT THE PODCAST? -> This show grows and impacts people only because of awesome people like you! Today I had a chat with Thabang Madiba and he is such a humble and inspirational guy. Through hard work, dedication, and passion, he has won the South African Trail Running Championships multiple times and was the first black South African to represent the country in trail running. He is the Two Oceans Marathon Trail Race Champion, Skyrim African Champ & Racing Madagascar Champion. Some questions I asked: How do you define success? (14:26) How do you prepare yourself mentally? (15:48) What fears do you have? (18:44) Who inspires you? (20:25) How can running make you a better person? (23:24) Key takeaways: Trail running requires an exceptional amount of mental toughness to endure such long distances especially at a fast pace It’s a blessing when you are disadvantaged or come from a struggling background as it forces you to dream big! Focusing and working constantly towards a big goal helps you silence your excuses and make you forget your current problems or situation. Envision yourself with the top class players or participants. It could very much help you endure what you are doing. It is not always about winning. It is about enjoying the journey on your way there. To be a great runner, or any type of athlete for that matter, takes a lot of hard work and discipline. It takes discipline and also builds discipline Reach out to Thabang: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thabangmadiba Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thabang.e.madiba HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT THE PODCAST? -> This show grows and impacts people only because of awesome people like you! Nershen Pillay is a Demartini Method Facilitator for Dr. John Demartini and a human behavior specialist who researches quantum physics, cell biology, neurology, brain chemistry and more, all in the pursuit of understanding which laws govern us. In this episode we discuss how and why we should live a life according to our highest values. Some questions I asked: How to empower someone who is stuck in 9-5? (14:36) How are we causing our suffering through positivity? (26:53) Do we need to view both the positive and the negative side of things? (33:57) How do we stay in balance? (39:02) How can we break a habit? (42:43) Key takeaways: Cells are more responsive to energy and our thinking than to the actual material in the body. With medicine, only 10% of the receptors on your cells respond to chemicals. Your genetics get triggered by an outside influence, it’s called epigenetics. It is far more influential than your genes than your physiology than your actual genes. The key to inspiration at work: look at the job traits or tasks that you physically do and link them to what’s most important to you in your life, your priorities or values. There lies massive power in gratitude You get what you are, not what you want. If you are lacking, you get more lack. The quality of life is based on the quality of questions you ask yourself Reach out to Nershen: LinkedIn: https://za.linkedin.com/in/nershenpillay Website: http://nershenpillay.com HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT THE PODCAST? -> This show grows and impacts people only because of awesome people like you! Andrew Patterson dedicated himself to a larger cause after being retrenched from his seemingly specialized job. He climbed Table mountain every day for an entire year and donated all the money raised to charity. We discuss why he did it, what we can learn from it and how people can commit themselves to something bigger to achieve better results. Some questions I asked: Do people need to experience pain before changing their lives? (26:05) What does the word Ubuntu mean? (30:00) Advice for people to listen to their inner voice? (34:03) How to stay consistent and persist with your endeavors? (40:05) What can people do to broaden their perspectives? (59:46) Key takeaways: People procrastinate because they lack clarity on what they want to do or if they do know what to do then they procrastinate because they don’t know how to get there If you do not have a purpose then it’s easy to hit the snooze button in the morning when you actually need to get up early The pain in which you are living now needs to be greater than the pain of trying to get to where you want to go in order to make a big change in your life Just because you are not responsible for someone else’s suffering does not mean you can’t be part of the solution Do the things that put your soul on fire! Ideas come from within. Ideas come to you with a specific purpose and you should act on them. All you need to know is that you have all the resources within you to ACT on the idea. It’s not that we don’t listen to our inner voice but rather that we get caught up in other people’s opinions. People don’t see the full puzzle, they only see a piece of the puzzle.
