What if we designed systems not for top-down control – but for human connection? At RSA House, trust expert and artist Rachel Botsman explores how design thinking and visual storytelling can rethink leadership, power, and trust systems. We often learn something new from studying something old.Anchored in her 2025 London Design Biennale installation Roots of Trust, the conversation returns to a long-forgotten artefact: the world's first organisational chart, drawn in 1855. From this intricate, organic diagram, we trace the enduring imprint of pyramid structures and hierarchy – and ask what new forms trust might take.Expect light and shadow. Beauty and utility. Roots and branches. For anyone curious about how we might design our way toward a more connected, trusted society, this is a conversation not to miss.Speaker:Rachel Botsman, trust expert and artistChair:Abi Freeman, Organisational Psychologist and Co-Founder of BrinkDonate to the RSA: https://thersa.co/3ZyPOEaBecome an RSA Events sponsor: https://utm.guru/ueembFollow RSA on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thersaorg/Like RSA on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theRSAorg/Listen to RSA Events podcasts: https://bit.ly/35EyQYUJoin our Fellowship: https://www.thersa.org/fellowship/join

I hope you're having a great week so far. We're currently on a little podcast break at Working Hard, Hardly Working whilst we work on something hugely exciting which is coming very soon and I focus on opening the first ever TALA store which I still cannot believe is happening! But you know I would never leave you without inspiring content on a monday morning! So I've picked my absolute favourite episodes from the nearly 130 we've released. Today's is with the man with the most soothing voice in the world (who also happens to be a world renowned psychologist) Professor John Amaechi. Not only is he an Organisational Psychologist, an OBE, a New York Times Bestselling Author, a Fellow of the Institute of Science and Technology, a Professor of Leadership, a non-executive director of an FTSE 250 company and the founder of organisational psychology consultancy APS. He was also, more surprisingly, the first Briton to play professional basketball in the NBA league, a move which saw him leave his hometown of Stockport for the world of professional basketball aged just 18. And whilst playing, he was the first NBA player to come out as gay. Never afraid to stand up and speak out, his book made me question a lot of things I thought I knew about myself and the way I live and work. +JOHN'S LINKS: LinkedIn: https://uk.linkedin.com/in/amaechiInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/johnamaechiobe/?hl=enAPS: https://www.apsintel.com/ +MY LINKS: https://gracebeverley.komi.io/+SHREDDY, TALA and THE PRODUCTIVITY METHOD are my own brands, therefore any mention of them - whilst not being a sponsorship - is monetarily endorsed. The final episode of Season 2 of The Coaching Psychology Pod is split into two parts. Host Dr Natalie Lancer discusses coaching in sport with Dr. Angela Mouton, Dr. Matt Dubin and Ben Davies. In Part 1 Angela and Matt delve into their interest in coaching, the role of positive psychology, and their research, exploring the concept of 'flow' and its impact on peak performance. In Part 2, Ben elaborates on Prof. Steve Peters' Chimp Model, providing insight into how the mind works so that athletes and all human beings can better overcome the issues and challenges we face, in order to improve our experience of life and our day to day interactions. We explore: What is the role of positive psychology in coaching for peak performance? What is the Chimp Model and how can it be used? Why is flow important for athletes, in daily life, the workplace and other non-sporting contexts? How can you coach towards creating the optimum conditions for flow? What are the strongest predictors of peak performance in sport? How can you work with both athletes and coaches to achieve the best results? How does coaching the ‘whole person' lead to better performance on the field or court? What are the main barriers people have when trying to find their zone of peak performance? How can coaching psychologists help people work out what is in their control, and to work with and stick to their strategies? What can enhance or derail someone's sporting experience? How can we develop a personalised plan to handle the unexpected? The panellists share their research on attention control, the importance of focusing on one task at a time and the balance between challenge and skill in achieving flow. They also discuss areas of future research. Furthermore, they examine the usefulness of applying sporting analogies in non-sporting contexts including business, the army and the NHS. Our guests today are: Dr Angela Mouton specialises in strategic human capital, including Organisational Development, Management Consulting and Executive Search and Assessment. Have you ever wondered why some individuals in your workplace seem to be targeted with rumors, isolation, or even task manipulation? If so, you're not alone. In today's episode, we delve deep into an issue that's unfortunately widespread yet often swept under the rug – mobbing or workplace bullying.Host Denise Cooper is joined by the highly esteemed Organisational Psychologist, Zoe Fragou. Zoe brings a wealth of knowledge to this important topic, backed by her qualifications which include an MSc in Human Resources Management, a diploma in Business Coaching & Mentorship, and a Certificate in Agile Leadership. In this enlightening conversation, Zoe takes us through a deep dive on the topic of mobbing. Mobbing refers to the targetted act of trying to push someone out of an organization. Most often, this happens because a person thinks differently, they represent a change in the status quo, or they're being targetted for being part of a historically marginalized community. Fragou highlights that mobbing is not a random act but an intentional, damaging strategy often targeted towards individuals bringing changes or diversity to the workplace. She stresses on the need to focus on the harmful actions rather than the underlying motivations. Moreover, Zoe imparts practical strategies to spot and counteract mobbing, emphasizing the significance of respecting personal boundaries and tackling toxic behaviors head-on. Be sure to listen to our first interview with Zoe Fragou, available to listen to here. Talent assessment requires an evolution, not a revolution—boards cannot be expected to hire a CEO without interviews. However, there must be a paradigm shift, based on new factors, for how decisions are made. Hetal Doshi, CEO & Organisational Psychologist at O Psych explores the importance of talent assessment and what tools can best benefit your recruitment processes.

“When I say about expressing your needs verbally, it also goes for positive behaviours. But then when it goes to setting clear boundaries, it's extremely important, specifically for behaviours that cause problem for us or behaviours that might be violating. Therefore, if someone is expressing a kind of behaviour, that creates issue for us, setting the boundary very clearly, is the most crucial thing. And the funny thing about these kinds of behaviours, the pathogenic ones, as we psychologists like to call them, is that you need to basically burn them from the root.”Zoe Fragou Top Five Tips For Fighting Toxic Work Cultures 1. Outspoken, authentic leaders are our jam at PeopleForward Network. There's nothing better than people who challenge the status quo for the greater good and push others to innovate, and that's a pretty great description of what they're doing on the Chad & Cheese Podcast. Listen in as we feature episodes from their show but be warned, they are the world's most dangerous HR podcast. In this episode, Leadership and Organisational Psychologist and DEI expert Dr. Tiffany Brandreth brings data and research to back her stance that DEI efforts are failing. Dr. T, as she's affectionately known, has found that good intentions have led the field of DEI but without the qualifications to actually champion the work. Listen in as she breaks down why leaders are simultaneously advocating and oppressing DEI efforts and what the five unconscious biases are driving DEI and simultaneously pushing it into the "death zone.” Additional Resources: Original Episode: https://www.chadcheese.com/post/dei-death-zone-w-dr-t Chad & Cheese Website: https://www.chadcheese.com/ Subscribe to Chad & Cheese Podcast: https://www.chadcheese.com/subscribe Connect with Chad Sowash: https://www.linkedin.com/in/chadsowash/ Connect with Joel Cheesman: https://www.linkedin.com/in/joelcheesman/ Meet Chad & Joel: https://www.chadcheese.com/meet-us Learn more about PeopleForward Network: https://peopleforwardnetwork.com/
What would you do if you found yourself being slowly bullied out of your organization?Psychometrics is what we call the science of measuring someone's personality in a specific context. What does this mean for you? Personalities and values are all unique to each individual, and when you bring people together for a shared goal, you start to experience the culture of an organization. Psychometric research is focused on assessing people's personalities in a corporation and using that research to draw conclusions about their culture. Even for CEOs and Founders, it can be quite difficult to assess the workplace culture that they are building. This research can also be helpful in identifying organizations that may be prone to "mobbing" behaviors. Mobbing refers to the targetted act of trying to push someone out of an organization. Most often, this happens because a person thinks differently, they represent a change in the status quo, or they're being targetted for being part of a historically marginalized community. In this episode, Zoe Fragou shares a wealth of knowledge on how to stand up to gaslighting behavior while protect your self esteem and professional reputation. If you're wondering what you could do if you found yourself targeted by this triggering and emotionally-charged behavior, this is the episode for you. Did you know that the 80:20 principle also works in reverse? Whilst 80% of your output will come from 20% of your people, the same is true of your problems. Meaning 80% of the errors will be caused by 20% of your people. But, says Dr. Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic, Organisational Psychologist, currently Chief Innovation Officer at ManpowerGroup, companies spend way more time on development than they do on talent acquisition. So, what can you do about that? Well, don't miss Tomas on this episode of The Melting Pot explaining how technology is revolutionising the recruitment role, why assessing candidates is a costly mistake, the difference between genders in terms of curiosity, why the world is so full of rubbish leaders, and how we can bring about change in leadership. Have you ever felt trapped in a job and are only doing it because you feel you "should"? Have you ever been told you "should" get a qualification and "should" get a solid job and "should" buy a house and "should" get married? Yet people are drowning in college debt, one in three people consider their jobs as meaningless, people come trapped in their jobs to pay mortgages, and last I heard 50% of marriages end in divorce. Are you sick of being told, this is how you "should" do things? You've gotten into this position because you've always taken the advice of other people. Your parents probably told you to get some training behind you, get a solid job, maybe even a mortgage, and then you'll be happy.
