Ampere Accelerates Telecom Expansion with Energy-Efficient ARM-Based Processors, Podcast

Jeff Wittich Ampere is making waves in the telecom industry by unveiling its Ampere® Altra family of processors, engineered to deliver high performance while slashing power consumption—a dual imperative for next-generation 5G, edge computing, and AI workloads. In a press release released this morning, the company detailed its ambitious push into the telecom market, and during a live interview with Technology Reseller News' publisher Doug Green, Chief Product Officer Jeff Wittich shed further light on the innovation behind the new offering. A Cloud-Originated Innovation Now Heading to Telecom Historically recognized as a cloud and CPU company, Ampere has spent the past seven years perfecting processors that can do more with less. “We started in the cloud, where power constraints became a major challenge with rising workloads like AI,” explained Wittich during the podcast. “The problems we solved in the cloud—delivering high performance with low power—are the same issues facing telecom operators today.” Ampere's approach diverges sharply from conventional methods that simply add power to boost performance. Instead, the Ampere Altra family was designed from the ground up to optimize energy efficiency without sacrificing computing muscle. This unique balance is increasingly critical as telecom networks evolve to support not only traditional voice and data but also a burgeoning array of AI-driven applications. The Shift to ARM and the Ecosystem Play One of the standout features of Ampere's new processors is their ARM-based architecture. As industries shift away from x86 solutions—a trend already evident in smartphones, edge devices, and cloud servers—the telecom market is now poised to benefit from the enhanced efficiency and scalability that ARM-based designs offer. The press release highlighted several key partnerships that underpin Ampere's strategy. Collaborations with industry players such as Parallel Wireless, SUSE, Canonical, SynaXG, Fujitsu, and Supermicro are setting the stage for robust, scalable telecom solutions. Parallel Wireless, for example, is leveraging Ampere's processors in its GreenRAN™ platform—a hardware-agnostic, cloud-native radio access network solution that supports 2G, 4G, and 5G technologies. “By combining our energy-efficient processors with innovative partners, we're able to tap into new customer segments like telco carriers,” Wittich noted. “This collaboration not only optimizes performance but also significantly reduces operational costs and environmental impact.” Lower Power, Higher Performance—and a Greener Future At the heart of this breakthrough is Ampere's innovative CPU design. As Wittich emphasized, “The CPU really is the star here. That is really where the innovation is coming from.” This chip not only delivers several times more tokens per second for AI workloads but also operates within an impressively low power envelope—sometimes as low as 40 watts. Such efficiency means these processors can run without active cooling, significantly reducing both operational costs and the environmental impact associated with high-powered data centers. A Timely Announcement As the telecom industry braces for rapid expansion in 5G and AI-driven services, Ampere's announcement arrives at a critical juncture. With its comprehensive ecosystem of hardware and software partners, the company is poised to lead the transformation toward more energy-efficient, high-performing network infrastructures. For those looking to dive deeper into Ampere's solutions, additional details are available on the company's website, amperecomputing.com, where information spans from cloud applications to cutting-edge telecom stacks. With both the press release and this live discussion underscoring its innovative approach, Ampere is set to make a significant impact on the telecom landscape—delivering the power, efficiency, and sustainability that modern networks demand. Is this you? Or someone you know?Whatever the reason is, there are a LOT of things that can be done to improve sleep, and the bonus effects of turning a bad sleeping situation around are huge. In this episode, I will go through 15 healthy habits that will improve the likelihood of getting a good night's sleep. We can't always control all the things that might keep us up at night, but let's focus on the things that we can control. Sleep is a topic that is very close to my heart, as there have been times in my life when I have felt that I was operating at 20-30% of my capacity, at best, because of sleep deprivation, so I really understand what it's like, and have been hacking my own and my client's sleep for many years now. As soon as I hear that someone is struggling with sleep, I always go through this checklist with them to quickly see where to focus the attention. Some of the habits or tricks are super low-hanging fruit, and some require a bit more effort, but all of them are great and will benefit you, your health, performance, and sleep. High-performing athletes are doing this right—it's time the rest of us in other industries receive the benefits of incorporating a daily mindset management practice, too. Mindset management is a practice they're dedicated to and that the industry prioritizes. Leaders, executives, and parents alike can greatly benefit from a daily mindset management practice.  Too many of us put extreme pressure on ourselves to perform extraordinarily every day but don't train our minds to support those levels.   You wouldn't build a house with a sand shovel and you shouldn't expect extraordinary performance from yourself without harnessing the power of your thoughts.  Today I am sharing one of my favorite mindset management practices that takes only 5 minutes. Why Dave's focus is on human performance rather than just wellness. Living 4D with Paul Chek - Episode 6 – Danny Way: Inside the Life of a Legend Part 1 Power Quotes From The Show How Playing the Victim Makes Us Sick "There is a sick energy you get from being a victim and we're actually teaching children how to be victims in a very nefarious way right now. When you're a victim, you feel this negative energy and it's kind of addictive because it's validating and you get to feel special. We experience and pass on to younger generations today that there is a merit to being a victim but it turns out the next step in victimhood is to fight against something instead of working towards something else... ...In victimhood training, you will learn how to shift your mindset away from that toxic state of thinking and focus instead on the world that you want to live in, why you want to live in that world, and how to live in that world. It's amazing how tearing something down because it's not fair is so dirty compared to building something up and I think we have lost a lot of that in almost all psychology in popular culture." - Dave Asprey Why Beliefs Are Dangerous "A belief is a story that you tell yourself and it may or may not be true. Unfortunately, we are wired to usually believe in our own stories. I have legion power of self-deception - so do you and so does everyone else. Beliefs are actually dangerous because once you get a belief, they're infectious. If it's not an accurate belief you will possibly spend your entire life doing something based on that belief." - Dave Asprey Living a Life Focused on Human Performance "I don't know that I've ever really focused on wellness, ever. I do wake up and I say to myself, 'I want to feel well.' For me, I get lit up by being in a flow state and being in that feeling of awe, joy, and curiosity. For me, wellness is never up there. Wellness is something that's harder to feel if you don't already experience those feelings and flow state. I want my body to work flawlessly but it's okay if it doesn't. For me, I want to feel amazing and not necessarily feeling healthy needs to be a part of that. People get it wrong when they say I'm in the health and wellness industry; I'm not - I'm in the human performance industry." - Dave Asprey Links From Today's Show  Own an Upgrade Labs Danger Coffee Bulletproof 250 Building Bulletproof Emotional Intelligence: Dave Asprey 389 Dave Asprey | Fast This Way: Burn Fat, Heal Inflammation, and Eat Like the High-Performing Human You Were Meant to Be 40 Years of Zen The 6 Phase Meditation Method BY Vishen Lakhiani David R. Today on The New P&L, Paul discusses: · the link between inclusion, belonging and performance · belonging as a basic human need · belonging an opportunity for business leaders. · creating cultures of empowerment, ownership and responsibility · why we all (not just leaders) have a key role to play in building an inclusive business · the micro-aggressions that forcefully mitigate against the development of great business cultures built on powerful values · the commercial benefits to belonging and inclusion · Owen's work with the England football team before Euro 2020 At The New P&L Brand Purpose Institute we work with business leaders, employees and entrepreneurs just like you and empower them to build brands with purpose, on purpose. Managing for higher performance is something that managers can do both passively as well as proactively. The Shared Management Model discussed removes the entire task responsibility from the manager and divides it between both them and their employees.Ultimately,  It is the employee alone who has the authority, the opportunity, and the primary responsibility for managing immediate performance: which is the overall focus of any performance management systems.

When we're feeling bored or lonely, too often our automatic response is to reach for a social media outlet to fill that void. But are we really finding the connection we crave, or are we simply filling those minutes with a less-than-satisfying solution? Humans are social animals, and we want to feel connection. As we've lived through the pandemic of 2020 and spent an entire year communicating, working, and doing our best to bond over Zoom calls, one thing has become crystal clear: screen time just isn't the same as real, deep, human connection. But, despite the global focus on mental health, somehow, we are still deeply ashamed of feeling, and admitting to feeling, lonely. In order to create the connection we desire with others, we first have to cultivate a deeper bond with ourselves. That means getting out of our own way and clearing the path towards personal growth. It's time for all of us to listen more closely to our own hearts and discover what it is that we're really yearning for. In this episode, I'll share how a series of experiences, from an unfortunate accident to a global pandemic, to the death of my mother, forced me to pause and connect more authentically with myself. Self-connection facilitates deeper bonds with those we love, and it reminds us that we are simply better together. You'll learn 3 simple methods you can use to build your connection to self through daily practices. Are you ready to take inspired action and enjoy deeper connections in life? In This Episode, You Will Learn:● The accident that taught me how to sit still (2:53)● Why we're all craving connection (7:55)● The loneliness epidemic in the US (17:58)● Daily practices to help you connect with yourself (22:25) Resources Mentioned in this Episode:Book: Together: Why Social Connection Holds the Key to Better Health, Higher Performance, and Greater Happiness by Vivek H. In this super-informative episode, I’m joined by Dr. Emily Splichal. Dr. Emily is a podiatrist, a human movement specialist, and the founder of Naboso, a company whose proprioceptive insoles, yoga mats, and mobility balls are specifically designed to stimulate the hypersensitive nerves in the feet. As an expert in barefoot training and sensory movement, Emily’s mission is to help people move better and feel healthier by optimizing movement from the feet up.During our conversation, she explains how Naboso’s proprioceptive surfaces facilitate correct movement patterns and she describes how to build strength and stability in the feet. We also dive deep into the mind-body connection, examine the complex and little-known link between the emotions and the myofascial system, and explore the benefits of being barefoot. As a podiatrist, Dr. Emily recommends going barefoot wherever possible, choosing natural minimalist shoes over conventional footwear, and strengthening the feet with exercises rather than simply relying on orthotics.Proudly Sponsored By: Ancestral SupplementsTraditional peoples, the kind that would have been barefoot most of the time, out in the sun, moving all day, and doing ALL the things we biohackers are trying endlessly to figure out and find a way to PUT BACK into our modern existence, sensed intuitively, that eating the organs from a healthy animal would strengthen and support the health and longevity of them, their children, and their elders. In fact, they believed that like-supported-like and the eating fresh organs also corresponded to strengthen those organs of the individual. For instance, the traditional way of treating a person with a weak heart was to feed the person the heart of a healthy animal. Is it any surprise that HEART is the richest source of Co-Enzyme Q10, in a far more bioavailable form than those capsules in your kitchen cabinet? Similarly, eating the kidneys of a healthy animal was believed to support urinary ailments and overall kidney health... The pancreas was fed to people with digestive problems... and the spleen was fed to people with immune and blood deficiencies. And the list goes on. Our early ancestors KNEW these truths, which is why their traditional diets included the frequent and nourishing consumption of nose-to-tail organs that today are almost void from the diet.So please visit my good friends over at Ancestral Supplements at coachjoedi.com/ancestral to see what they can do for you - and put back in, what the modern world has left out! Loneliness is a public health issue. It was before the COVID-19 epidemic forced us into social isolation. Former U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy called loneliness a “growing health epidemic,” and even wrote a book about it - Together: Why Social Connection Holds the Key to Better Health, Higher Performance, and Greater Happiness. In the United Kingdom they take this issue very seriously and now have a Minister of Loneliness. Sophie Andrews started an organization called The Silver Line which is a helpline for lonely and isolated seniors. Does loneliness impact those with chronic illness and/or disability more than the general population? Curious to know how you rate on the Loneliness Scale or maybe you'd like to take a quick quiz for a less robust assessment. In this podcast episode we explore that question as well as the antidotes for loneliness. In this presentation for the University of Utah's Program for Inherited Neuromuscular Disorders, I discuss how I've handled social isolation during the pandemic. My friend, David, talks about the Big & Mini online program he's become involved with as well as Quarantine Chat. Although geared toward an older audience, Humana has a toolkit full of ideas on how to combat loneliness.

Ryan starts out diving right into some of the issues and confusion around the views on, not just the sport, but some of the common training models he sees within Rugby. This leads him right into his model, where these ideas came from, and why there needs to be a distinct difference between training American Football and Rugby athletes. He then dives into how he sets up his programming along side the coaching staff, including how these conversations drive KPI’s that they use to make sure that the training is providing the results that the coaches and athletes are actually looking to achieve. He then discusses the role of the “fundamentals” of sprinting and cutting, and how important technique work is, even with athletes at the highest level. This includes a unique way that they plan on implementing a part whole approach to practice warm ups with a team he gets to work with. Dr. David Heitmann joins the podcast to discuss the elements of injury, injury rehabilitation, programming for the long-term, and stoic philosophy.   “I just said, "screw it!" I changed my mindset. I said I'm in control of my own destiny. And I started focusing on my health instead of the business. It changed my whole world around.” Dr. David Heitmann   Who is Dr. David Heitmann   The path to high performance doesn't come without bumps in the roads.  Dr. Heitmann had 14 broken bones and torn ligaments, his foot chopped up in a lawnmower, nerve traction injuries, debilitating sciatic pain, and even a period in his life which could be described as an "overstressed dark time."   Dr. Dave experienced severe depression, brain fog, fatigue, digestive issues, joint pain, swelling, stress fractures, and even had 3 teeth crack in half which had to be removed.    All of these amazing experiences have taught him about the journey of health.   Dr. David Heitmann's obsession with health and performance started out of a love for football in 4th grade.  Dr. Dave was a 5 sport athlete growing up and played competitive football and rugby until he was 27. College allowed him to geek out on with a double major in biochemistry and molecular biology. As if that was not enough, he also did research in biomechanics and energetics.    From there, Dr. Dave went to get his Doctor of Chiropractic along with a Masters in Sports Science and Rehabilitation completing 600 hours of training around Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Certified Strength and Conditioning.   In his 10 years of owning a sports medicine clinic, he's treated 4700 patients. Dr. Dave was the medical director of 12 sports teams and provided athletic training services for most of them. He was the onsite medical provider for more than 100 endurance races, and was contracted provider for a hospital system.   The list goes on... Key Highlights:   [5:57] - Dr. Dave's background, degrees, and experience in the sports medicine world [8:24] Dr. Dave's injuries (warning, involves a lawnmower) [10:02] The burnout of running your own business [17:49] Stress buckets and what happens when you empty it [20:42] The problem with exercise programs designed by pro athletes [22:50] What is an injury? In today's bustling times, we face personal, business, and cultural challenges that are volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous, also known as VUCA. These challenges require situationally aware, adaptive, and strong leadership. Enter flow: When time seems to stand still, the right decisions come easily, we experience a sense of heightened awareness, and optimal experience emerges. In this episode, Dr. Judy shares her research into the flow experiences of firefighters and how training impacts flow-based decision making. This research shows how we can consciously choose to maximize our personal flow experiences, while putting in place the conditions to help others maximize their flow experiences. Incorporating flow-based leadership practices facilitates and enables employees to better align talents to organizational mission, intensify innovation, improve productivity, and increase the bottom line. Ultimately, this extends to personal, organizational, and community well-being.

How to stop (trying to) think your way to higher performance. A Happy Hour Conversation with Garret Kramer

This week I'm speaking with Garret Kramer. Garret's the author of the books Stillpower and The Path of No Resistance and is the founder of Inner Sports which provides mental conditioning, consulting, and crisis management services to hundreds of athletes, coaches, and business leaders. Garret's been featured lots of times on television and in papers like The NY Times and the Wall Street journal. In this show we explore Garret's belief that deliberate mental techniques or strategies used to improve performance (or find peace of mind, happiness or any of those things) are ineffective. What you'll learn in this show: Why thinking yourself into flow just won't work. The more we try to fix, strategise or control our thinking - the more we get in the way of flow, happiness, and ease. Why recognising the way thoughts create feelings is the 'benchmark'. Understanding this connection is what opens the door to making performance effortless. We all work the same way. We all get caught in the illusion of our feelings coming from outside circumstances from time to time. And we don't need to do anything to fix that. Awareness itself has a powerful effect - we see that we don't need to correct anything on the outside, our thinking will continue to flow and therefore feelings will change naturally.
