Magical thinking and factually incorrect beliefs abound in many industries and Pilates is no exception. Most Pilates education is decades out of date at best, and at worst just plain pseudoscientific. Many of these false beliefs have become accepted wisdom in the Pilates industry but are massively at odds with accepted science and best practice in exercise, health and movement teaching. This inconvenient disconnect means there are lots of topics in Pilates that are Elephants in the Room - things we don't question because it's a bit heretical to do so. Well, we're here to change that. We'll talk about all the Elephants from posture, to core strengthening for low back pain, to scapular stabilisation ... oh boy the list is a very, very long one! Warning - we swear. But we have cute accents. PS: Yes stabilisation is spelled with an "s" if you're in Australia This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: AdBarker - https://adbarker.com/privacy
The Pilates Elephants podcast is a hidden gem that I stumbled upon a few months ago and now I'm completely obsessed. As a new Pilates instructor, this podcast has been an invaluable source of knowledge and inspiration for me. The hosts, Raph and Chloe, are movement optimists who approach Pilates with a scientific and evidence-based mindset. This approach has not only improved my confidence as an instructor but has also challenged me to try new things and think outside the box. Each episode of the podcast gets better and better, providing practical information that is both informative and enjoyable to listen to.
One of the best aspects of The Pilates Elephants podcast is their ability to deliver eye-opening content that is backed up by the latest science. They challenge traditional movement beliefs and provide "aha" moments that have improved my skills as both a teacher and a mover. The conversations between Raph and Chloe are not only fun but also incredibly informative, making it enjoyable to learn from them. They have a way of breaking down complex topics in a way that is accessible to listeners at all levels of experience.
If there was one flaw in this podcast, it would be that sometimes the episodes can be out of order or random. However, this hasn't detracted from the overall quality of the content they provide. It's still possible to gain valuable insights from each episode, even if they're not listened to in chronological order.
In conclusion, The Pilates Elephants podcast is a must-listen for all Pilates teachers. It offers a fresh perspective on movement backed by science and provides valuable continuing education for professionals in the field. Not only does it challenge traditional beliefs but it also inspires critical thinking and growth mindset for both teaching and personal practice. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone interested in learning more about Pilates or improving their skills as an instructor.
