Welcome back, everyone! I'm thrilled to be kicking off a new eight-part series all about mineral decoding and balancing. In this episode, we'll explore the concept of mineral balancing and how it can be the missing link in your healing journey. We'll discuss the benefits of getting your minerals tested and why someone might want to undertake this process. The mineral balancing process helps us identify where our bodies are depleted or out of balance and provides a roadmap for restoration. Mineral balancing is a powerful tool for understanding what your body truly needs, especially if you're dealing with symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, moodiness, or digestive issues despite doing everything 'right.' I highlight the importance of the Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) test, which provides incredible insights into your health at a cellular level and is the best test for nutrient absorption issues. We'll go over my journey with HTMA, how I discovered it through mentors, and how it transformed both my life and the lives of my clients. Throughout this episode, I'll share real client success stories and explain how balancing minerals like magnesium, calcium, and more can lead to significant health improvements. I'll also introduce what's coming up in this series, covering everything from adrenal burnout to thyroid function, detoxification, and much more. So if you're ready to discover how minerals can unlock the missing links in our healing journeys, join us as we decode your minerals and put you back in the driver's seat of your health! Welcome back to another Thyroid Thursday episode, and as always, thank you for all of your pre-submitted questions! In this episode, I tackle a big one: How do I know if I need iodine, and how much do I need? To kick things off, I share why iodine is so essential for thyroid function and what factors could be causing a deficiency, particularly in the U.S., where seafood and seaweed consumption are low on average. I'll also discuss the impact of antagonistic elements like fluoride, which can block iodine absorption, creating a tug-of-war that can mess with your thyroid function. Understanding symptoms of low iodine—like fatigue, depression, and even weight gain—can be your first clues, but lab tests can offer more concrete answers. We'll explore two key tests: the hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA) and the 24-hour iodine test by Hakala Labs. Plus, I'll share the importance of prepping your body with iodine cofactors before supplementation to avoid any adverse reactions. If you're considering iodine, knowing how to correctly test and supplement is critical, so make sure you listen carefully to avoid common pitfalls. We wrap up by emphasizing the need to test and not guess, ensuring we approach iodine supplementation thoughtfully and safely. If you're wondering about your own thyroid health and potential iodine deficiency as a root cause of any symptoms you're having, this episode is packed with advice for how to look into iodine more deeply. I also discuss the role of toxins and trauma in health dysfunction and how we address these underlying causes by first establishing a solid foundation. This episode offers a practical take on lab testing and my personal health philosophy for anyone looking to improve their health holistically. Tune in to learn why addressing hydration, nutrition, sleep, stress, and movement should be your first steps and how labs can then be used to fine-tune your health journey and get you back to thriving. Today, we're talking about something that might sound a bit strange at first, but trust me, it's pretty fascinating stuff. We're talking to Jeff Hoyt about a mineral that's disrupting the detox world — Zeolite. If you're unfamiliar with Zeolite, it's a mineral that acts like a magnet to attract positively charged particles to it in the body. Think heavy metals like lead, mercury, and aluminum, to name a few. When taken, it pulls in those heavy metals and then binds to them before the body flushes them all away through the liver and kidneys. The best part? You can take this stuff long-term without worrying about it stealing all your essential nutrients. So, if you've been feeling like your body needs a bit of a spring cleaning, Zeolite might be worth looking into. Remember, our bodies are incredible machines, but sometimes they need a little help dealing with all the toxins in our modern world. I know so many of us struggle with our relationship with food and our bodies. If you've ever felt frustrated, confused, or even hopeless about your eating habits or weight, this episode will offer you some hope and understanding. I'm thrilled to share my conversation with the incredible Jiordana Sadde, a clinical nutritionist and food psychology expert who knows just how hard our relationship with food can be at times. During our conversation, Jiordana shares her experience with childhood obesity and eating disorders and how she finally found true peace with food. She helps us understand that our struggles aren't our fault — they often stem from subconscious programming that started in childhood. You'll learn why simply knowing what's "healthy" often isn't enough to change our behaviors, and how our thoughts and emotions profoundly impact our body's response to food. Jiordana's insights might just help you see your relationship with food in a whole new light.I hope this conversation offers you some comfort and practical steps forward if you're struggling with food noise, limiting beliefs around food, self-sabotage, or anything that's keeping you stuck in a frustrating cycle. This week, Jenn Trepeck is joining me to discuss the mind-body connection to our metabolic health and how we can eat to fully support our emotional and physical well-being through food. We get into how protein and fiber eaten together work wonders for our metabolic health so that we don't experience such intense swings in our insulin, which can impact our mood, cravings, weight, and so much more. She also tells us how diet culture has given us a lot of unhealthy (and inaccurate) ideas about how we should eat and exercise. The good news — it's not as complicated to eat well and take care of our bodies as diet culture makes us think. By balancing our diet with enough protein and fiber, plus incorporating low impact strength training exercises into our lifestyle, we're supporting all aspects of our health — especially our thyroids and metabolic functions. This episode is packed with great information and advice for how we can support the full picture of our health with a few simple steps. And the best part is that there are no extremes here — it's all part of an intuitive and sensible way of living. Foods affect people so differently, and one of the clearest disparities is in how our blood sugar responds to our lifestyle choices. With continuous glucose monitoring, it's easy to get an objective look at our overall health through the lens of our blood sugar. Get too little sleep, and you might notice your blood sugar responding to that. Eat too many carbs without some protein or fat, and you might be spiking more than usual. It can also help us avoid chronic health issues like insulin resistance (pre-diabetes) and diabetes, or give us insight into how glucose affects autoimmune conditions and other health issues we're already facing. No matter what the reason, continuous glucose monitoring gives us valuable information about our health that can help us make informed choices about our diet, sleep, and exercise habits that can keep our overall health and wellness at its peak. This week, I'm sitting down with my best friend, Sami Hobbs, to talk about her struggle and journey to healing from chronic pain due to endometriosis and vaginismus (vulvodynia). Sami is the founder of Your Inner Wisdom, a holistic business mentor, empowerment photographer, and self-development retreat host. Before Sami began her 7-year journey to fixing her chronic pain, she felt a lot of shame around sex, intimacy, and sexual health. She knew from a young age that something wasn't quite right in her body, but it took a lot of courage to be open with doctors about her pain. Because of her pain, she experienced a lot of dissociation and began doing numbing behaviors like bingeing to escape it. Luckily, she had doctors who took her seriously and eventually diagnosed her with endometriosis and vaginismus.Fast forward to today, Sami has done a ton of work both physically and mentally to get to the root of her pain and begin feeling relief. She's worked hard on getting out of fight or flight and feeling safe in her body once again, which has been a huge boost to the physical work she's done with her doctor for her vaginismus. If you're curious about pelvic floor health or are experiencing similar issues and want to learn more about how to begin finding relief for yourself, listen to Sami's amazing story and first-hand tips from how she approached her healing process. With a few tests, some dietary and supplemental shifts, and a few other lifestyle tweaks, we can often identify, and eventually reverse, the symptoms of testosterone excess that might be throwing your body out of balance. These are all questions that can begin to be answered through genetic testing. In this episode, we're nerding out about how Dr. Hailey got into genetic testing as her career path, why genetics are the blueprint to our bodies, and which genes are some of the most prominent indicators of how our bodies function. This week, I'm continuing to talk about the minerals that are so important to our energy levels and cellular health. Our focus in this episode is on magnesium and how it supports thousands of different bodily processes. Magnesium is a mineral that used to be abundant by eating vegetables and other produce, but due to our modern agricultural practices, it's much harder to come by naturally in our diet these days. If we don't get enough magnesium, it can have an impact on our entire body. It can affect our adrenal system, sleep cycles, menstrual cycles, blood sugar regulation, and so much more. That's why it's important to know the signs of possible mineral deficiencies and how to test for them so you can start making a game plan for reversing the side effects. If you feel like you're affected by chronic fatigue, muscle aches, depression, stress, and more, it could be as easy as identifying a magnesium deficiency to start feeling more like yourself again!
