There are many different philosophies in the natural health world about where people should start with their health. Some focus on increasing carbs, some focus on increasing protein, some focus on both. I've heard people in the Ray Peat community say that heavy metal detox is a fad and its not important. For the first half of the show I break down why I think its a great place to start, the biochemistry of exactly how heavy metals harm our cells, how car exhaust contributes to their accumulation, and my thoughts on tracking using HTMA and the Oligoscan. In the second half I talk about solutions, starting with the most affordable to the least affordable. I reference a study looking at the difference in heavy metal excretion of 5 metals using sweating in a sauna or sweating during exercise and which one they found to be more effective. I talk about why I supplement magnesium, zinc, shilajit, and high dose melatonin everyday, and how fiber and high dose zeolite powder can also help. Or will it make it worse .. kind regards Chrissy                                                                                                                                                    Kay: Hi Dr. Cabral- What are your thoughts on Metformin combined w Naltrexone topiramate and Vit B12 for Tx of PCOS? My 31 y.o. daughter has tried over the last few years to manage her PCOS w traditional Chinese herbs, acupuncture, yoga & pilates which have only given her limited success. Her HbA1c were in the pre-diabetic range. She lives in the NYC area w a demanding job. Now, working w a Functional Med provider, her tests showed high levels of cortisol throughout the day & hormonal imbalances. Weekend hikes & being near nature on occasion have helped her stress levels as shown by her Oura ring data. After about a month of the Rx regimen, she has noticed an improvement in her HbA1c and has hired a personal trainer. For true, sustainable wellness, what do you recommend?                                       Becky: Hi Dr. Cabral!
