That the loving presence of animals had brought companionship to a lonely girl, pushed me to find courage and do things I could never imagine, much less accomplish. Because of the love of horses, I became a horse trainer which soon revealed a person struggling with all relationships; human, financial, physical. The book of Acts ends in a puzzling way. After Luke spends several chapters detailing with how God providentially got the Apostle Paul to Rome, the book ends with Paul preaching the gospel in jail. He is under house arrest waiting for his case to be heard by the Caesar (Acts 28:30-31). What happens to […]

100 episodes DEEP. Thanks to all our listeners and our amazing lineup of guests that have made this show possible. On today's episode, Luke Fox joins the show for his regular scheduled programming to update us on Leafs camp, position-less hockey, the hip-hop game and of course, some rapid fire questions. Before we bring Luke on, we're reminiscing about starting the podcast and all the cups we thought the Leafs were going to win by now, and pulling up some takes from the Coley's Corner blog (circa 2012). After Luke's call we're tipping the cap to Bob Probert and throwing more well deserved shade at Hockey Canada. Cap it off with a special shoutout to Matthew Barnaby, who didn't make the cut for the intro (nice job Coley) but found his way into the end of the show. Cheers everyone, looking forward to the next 100!

Today's Reading: Luke 22: 24-30Daily Lectionary: 1 Kings 5:1-16; 2 Corinthians 1:23-2:17 "But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves." (Luke 22:26)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. St. Bartholomew is my favorite apostle. He's the Charlie Brown of the blessed Twelve. He's the kid who never fits in. He has one of the best lines in Scripture, as the first person to recognize the divinity of Jesus, but John calls him by the wrong name because John's too busy nursing a grudge he still has with Peter 40 years after they argued about who the greatest is. Bartholomew never got to do any of the cool apostle stuff like see the Transfiguration. After Luke closed the letter to Theophilus by talking about the all-stars, like Peter and Paul, St. Bart was martyred in modern-day Turkey for faithful preaching. They skinned him alive. So the Roman Catholics made him the patron saint of leatherworkers, which is amazing. They pray to the guy who got skinned alive for wallets. And this dude just points to Jesus, despite being overlooked and degraded. And he still sings for us in heaven with angels and archangels and the rest of the bunch. In the movies, he would get superpowers and finally be the cool kid. Or take off his glasses so everyone at the dance would see he's been handsome all along. In the movies, people like Bartholomew aren't the main character unless something extraordinary happens. In real life, Bart was never the main character, but he served. There is no real lordship in being the greatest, just idolatry. See St. Bart, patron saint of the bullied and the neglected. Praying to him won't get you a wallet or a moment in the spotlight. He'd rather you pray to Jesus, whom he confessed as Lord, whom he faced the grave to meet in the resurrection. If you see yourself in St. Bart, know that the Lord sees you, too, and joins you as the same. He is the One who serves. He is the One who bears the Cross for those who can't save themselves. He is the One who gathers into Sabbath rest those who find none in this place. And He knows your name, and calls you out of this vale of tears to the resurrection, to sing with the blessed saints who have gone before you, while the angels sing along. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. For Barnabas we praise You, Who kept Your law of love And, leaving earthly treasures, Sought riches from above. O Christ, our Lord and Savior, Let gifts of grace descend, That Your true consolation May through the world extend. ("By All Your Saints in Warfare" LSB 518, st.7)-Rev. Harrison Goodman is content executive for Higher Things.Audio Reflections Speaker: Rev. Duane BamschStudy Christ's words on the cross to see how you can show more Christlike grace in your life. Nearing the end of a looong international break, there is a surprising amount of topics to for us to ramble about. We start by taking stake in where the Union ended off before the break and then get into the big Apple TV deal that MLS announced this week. After Luke went on and on about that, we get into the other huge news which is that Philly got announced to be one of the host cities for the 2026 World Cup. We end the pod with some unproductive USMNT debates and give predictions for the Cincy game coming up. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

With the NHRA & IHRA tours set to kick off in the coming weeks, the 2017 racing season is almost upon us. The guys figure to have months of racing action to talk about soon, so this week they took a departure from the norm to tell some funny and entertaining racing stories. After Luke talks about an opponent bouncing off the wall, then returning to face him the following round, Jed shares his secret to passing tech at his first national event. In addition, they summoned two of the best storytellers they know: 2-time Million Dollar Race winner Gary Williams shares multiple stories from on-track parachute removal to what we believe is a record for most riders in a competition vehicle; and footbrake legend Rodney Finchum weaves a tale that includes rain, fraud protection, multiple emergency vehicles, and an event win. Enjoy!
After Luke drops the bomb about my adoption I am left to figure out how to process what he has shared with me. Was he telling the truth? Was this real? THIS WEEK ON THE J6POD... Bob, Luke, Matt, and Shaun join the pod to discuss the final week of the regular season. But that's only AFTER Luke describes his "utopian" vision of the future where we all microchip our children so they can get better focused advertising and have boobs even more at their fingertips than they currently are! Sounds kinda dystopian to me... but who am I to judge?
Hello, kaiju lovers! Today's episode is a little different. Think of it as an extended “mini-analysis.” It's also the first film MIFV has covered that features no kaiju. Luke Jaconetti, the host of the Earth Destruction Directive podcast (and owner of an impossible-to-spell surname), joins Nathan to discuss the film featuring everyone not working on The Three Treasures in 1959: Battle in Outer Space. The podcast's producer, Jimmy From NASA, loves this film because it's the second entry in what he calls a “pseudo-trilogy.” After Luke recounts his globetrotting adventure getting to Monster Island despite worldwide travel bans, he and Nathan discuss how what this film lacks in character it more than makes up for with showmanship and spectacle. It was a snapshot of the world at the beginning of the Space Race and the Cold War. They connect it to films like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Earth vs. the Flying Saucers, Star Wars, and even Toy Story 2! They also discuss whether or not the invading aliens, the Natal, could be interpreted as an anti-American commentary. Are you stuck in quarantine? Enjoy some quality entertainment and enlightenment through this tokusatsu epic! This was made as a supplement to this episode of Kaijuvision Radio, which featured Danny DiManna as Brian Scherschel's guest host: Episode 42: Battle in Outer Space (1959) (The Space Race between the US and the USSR). Luke Ritchie is the Head of School at the Annesley Junior School – tagline: Heritage, Values, Innovation – in Adelaide, Australia (population 1.4 million). Annesley was a school on the brink of collapse not long ago. In this On the Road episode Luke and I talk about how he and his staff, his faculty, his parents and his students transformed Annesley into one of the fastest growing schools in the region. The backdrop of our conversation is the 2019 Leading Schools of the Future pre-workshop for the 2019 Schools of the Future Conference. Luke came to Hawaiʻi to participate as a “leader-mentor” at this pre-conference workshop (attended by 140 public, private and charter leaders) focused on deeper learning and assessments. Listen as Luke outlines the steps he and his community took to redesign and rebuild Annesley into a school focused on student-centered learning, faculty leading as professionals and diverse learning environments. Along the way, hear about the “Crunchy Cafe,” nature hikes with mathematicians and other wonders of student focused school culture. At some point a Myna Bird screams at us. We recorded this episode outside at the Hawaiʻi Convention Center! After Luke and I finished recording, I told him I wanted to attend elementary school again at Annesley. The post 6. Luke Ritchie Knows School Transformation appeared first on @MLTSinHawaii .
After Luke records the resurrection and ascension of Jesus, the day of Pentecost, a few healings here and there and the dramatic conversion of St. Paul, do we need MORE healing stories? God must think so. We tend not to think of miracles as boring...
