This week on It Was a Thing on TV we conclude Pilot Month 2024 by meeting your Dad in a Twist of a situation.   First, hot off the heels of How I Met Your Mother's finale—and 8 years before appearing on Hulu—CBS & Fox began work on the next chapter, involving original creators Carter Bays & Craig Thomas, a future Oscar-nominated writer, a Golden Globe-nominated actress, a night of hard partying, a blue typewriter, and a girl named Cricket. Then, we close the door on yet another pilot month with this amalgamation of pieces and parts from various game shows from the Bob Stewart family, mixed with the theme from a past and future Stewart show, and add a shuffleboard table for good measure.  The end result was Twisters, a truly unique concoction that didn't make NBC's schedule in late 1982/early 1983. In the early 2000s, showrunners Carter Bays and Craig Thomas were pitching ideas for sitcoms to CBS. And on only their second pitch, they struck gold. Why?Bays said, “It's like the whole idea of ‘Write what you know.' If you're going to pitch someone and say, ‘Give me millions of dollars to write 100 or 200 episodes, you better have material. … Mine your life.”In this episode, we're taking a look at the result: their Emmy nominated show, How I Met Your Mother. The series, which aired from September 19, 2005 to March 31, 2014, follows the main character, Ted Mosby, and his group of friends in New York City's Manhattan. As a framing device, Ted, in 2030, recounts to his son, Luke, and daughter, Penny, the events from September 2005 to May 2013 that led him to meet their mother. How I Met Your Mother is a joint production by Bays & Thomas Productions and 20th Century Fox Television and syndicated by 20th Television (now Disney-ABC Domestic Television). My accidental two part series with the creators/writers for How I Met Your Mother continues with episode 93. In this episode of Adult Education I'm chatting with HIMYM co-creator Carter Bays. I had to restrain myself from spending our entire allotted time talking about the show. We did chat about one episode, though. I just had to discuss 'Robin Sparkles 3'. For me that is still the funniest episode of any TV show I've seen in my life. Carter has his debut novel coming out on June 7th. It's titled 'The Mutual Friend' and it's great. Si le projet plane depuis maintenant plusieurs années, il est maintenant commandé officiellement par la plateforme Hulu. C'est Hilary Duff, l'actrice de Lizzie McGuire et plus récemment de la série Younger qui sera en tête d'affiche, elle incarnera une mère racontant à son fils comment elle a rencontré son père pendant l'année 2021. La série suivra ainsi un nouveau groupe d'amis qui découvrent encore qui ils sont à l'ère des réseaux sociaux et des applis de rencontres. Aux postes de showrunners, on retrouve le duo Isaac Aptaker et Elizabeth Berger, scénaristes et producteurs de This Is Us ainsi que du film Love, Simon et son spin-off en série, Love, Victor. À noter que les deux créateurs de la série originelle, Carter Bays et Craig Thomas, sont aussi de la partie à la production.

Hijos, allá en 2005 estaba empezando a ver series americanas, y acababa de terminar Friends, cuando un día, vi una imagen de un grupo de amigos que me transmitían buen rollo, era una serie que se llamaba "How I Met Your Mother", probé y me gustó. Mucho. Y así, pasaron nueve años, semana a semana viendo la historia de Ted Mosby y sus amigos. Y así, hijos, es como conocí esta serie.
