Gloria, laus et honor tibi sit, rex Christe, redemptor1 »Slava ti, hvala in čast, o Kralj naš, Kristus rešitelj,« so besede, s katerimi sveta Cerkev pozdravlja svojega Ženina, ko ta stopa v veliki teden svojega trpljenja, smrti in slavnega vstajenja. 1 “Slava ti, hvala in čast, o Kralj naš, Kristus rešitelj.” Procesijska antifona na cvetno nedeljo.
This is the first time I've recorded the little prayer from the 1915 version of the Little Office and earlier. It's in my Medieval Lauds booklet : https://littleoffice.brandt.id.au/#bookletsHere's the antiphon from Gregobase:Behold the Lord comes, and all his saints with him: and it will be in that day a great light, alleluia. This comes in at the end of Lauds and Vespers in the older editions of the Little Office. The history of this little piece is worth reading. When the Little Offices emerged, there were three main ones: * All Saints* The Faithful Departed* Our LadySaying all of them as well as the Divine Office proved too much, so different orders generally went with either Our Lady or the Dead. The Little Office of the Saints survived in this little Commemoration in the Little Office of Our Lady. Then in 1962 the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary was pared down a little bit more and the commemoration was removed, along with the little “Kyrie eleison, Christe eleison, Kyrie eleison”. Jo Rogers and her two daughters Michelle and Christe went on vacation and never returned. Their bodies were later discovered floating in the Tampa Bay. The post The Tin Man first appeared on Crime Happens.
Part 1 of 2 Jo and Hal Rogers raised their daughters Michelle and Christy on their dairy farm, working hard together to keep things running. In 1989, after a year dealing with lawyers, police, and the legal system, Jo decided to take the girls on a cross country road trip to get away from the small town rumor mill. Unfortunately, they would never return home. Link to "Angels and Demons" by Thomas French: https://projects.tampabay.com/projects/classics/angels-and-demons/chapter-1-sunset/
Donald Macleod explores the lives and music of uncle and nephew Andrea and Giovanni GabrieliAndrea and Giovanni Gabrieli share a name that dominated Venetian music during the late 16th and early 17th century. Both uncle and nephew were organists and composers, and their music was linked inextricably with the exceptional city in which they lived and worked. From the organ loft of St Mark's Basilica to the resplendent palazzos of merchants and noblemen, they provided the soundtrack to Venice's golden age, with its numerous feast days and celebrations. But together, they would also pioneer an ambitious way of writing choral music - playing with texture and architecture– that would eventually echo beyond the Venetian waterways and profoundly affect the music of the future.Music Featured:Andrea Gabrieli: Benedictus dominus Deus sabbaoth Andrea Gabrieli: Fantasia allegra del duodecima toni Andrea Gabrieli: Hor chel nel suo ben seno; Vaghi augelletti; Angel del terzo ciel; O suave a mio cor Andrea Gabrieli: Aria della battaglia Andrea Gabrieli: Laudate dominum omnes gentes a 5; Laudate Dominum in sanctis eius a 10; Giovanni Gabrieli: O magnum mysterium Andrea Gabrieli: Ricercar del settimo tuono Giovanni Gabrieli: Deus qui beatum Marcum Andrea Gabrieli: Sancta et immaculata; Laetare Jerusalem Andrea Gabrieli: Maria Magdalenae et altera Maria; Maria stabat ad monumentum Andrea Gabrieli: Kyrie a 5; Christe a 8; Kyrie a 12; Gloria a 16 Giovanni Gabrieli: Exaudi me domine a 16 Giovanni Gabrieli: Hic est filius Dei (arr. Road to Calvary, Alphonsus Liguori Meditation 11: First Saturday of Lent Choosing Mortification Adoramus Te, Christe, et benedicimus Tibi - We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You! Quia per Sanctam Crucem Tuam redemisti mundum - because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world! Kyrie eléison - Lord have mercy! ➕➕➕St. Ambrose - “If you look to yourself, you can do nothing, but if you trust in God, strength will be given you.” If we would enter into the Glory of the Blessed, says the Scripture, we must, through much tribulation, enter into the Kingdom of God: “These are the ones who have come out of great tribulation, and have washed their garments, and have made them white in the Blood of the Lamb. (Apocalypse/Revelation 7:14)” Saint Teresa of Avila - “He who drags the Cross along with ill will feels its weight, however small it is, but he willingly embraces it, however large it is, does not feel it.”
Road to Calvary, Alphonsus Liguori Meditation 10: First Friday of Lent Suffering with Patience Adoramus Te, Christe, et benedicimus Tibi - We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You! Quia per Sanctam Crucem Tuam redemisti mundum - because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world! Kyrie eléison - Lord have mercy! ➕➕➕ Saint Teresa of Avila frequently said, “Domine, Aut Pati, aut Mori - Lord, I desire either to suffer or die.” (see a note on the translation at the following website) https://ericlinuskaplan.wordpress.com/2015/06/20/aut-pati-aut-mori/ St. John of the Cross - “ Oh Lord, I ask nothing of You but to suffer and to be despised for Your sake.” St. Mary Magdalene of Pazzi - “I desire to suffer and not die.” This is the Will of God, your sanctification. - 1 Thessalonians 4:3
Road to Calvary, Saint Alphonsus Liguori Meditation 9: First Thursday of Lent Jesus's Desire to Suffer for Us Adoramus Te, Christe, et benedicimus Tibi - We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You! Quia per Sanctam Crucem Tuam redemisti mundum - because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world! Kyrie eléison - Lord have mercy! ➕➕➕“(Liguori, per the Duay Rheims) I am come to cast fire upon the Earth; and what will I but that it should be kindled? I have a baptism wherewith I am to be baptized; and how am I straightened until it be accomplished? - (another translation, as narrated in the podcast) I came to cast fire on the earth, and how I wish that it were already kindled! I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how eagerly I desire It to be accomplished!” - Luke 12:49 - 50 Jesus, knowing that His hour had come that He should pass out of this world to the Father, having loved His own… He loved them to the end. - John 13:1
Road to Calvary, St. Alphonsus Liguori Meditation 8: First Wednesday of Lent Jesus's Sufferings Compared to Ours Adoramus Te, Christe, et benedicimus Tibi - We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You! Quia per Sanctam Crucem Tuam redemisti mundum - because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world! Kyrie eléison - Lord have mercy! ➕➕➕Jesus Crucified appeared to Sister Magdalene Orsini, to animate her to suffer for sufferings in peace. She answered Him, “But Lord, You only hung on the Cross for 3 hours, whereas I have gone on suffering this pain for several years.” He replied, “From the first moment that I was in My Mother's womb, I suffered in my Heart all that I afterwards endured on the Cross.” St. Bernard: “In order to redeem the slave, the Father did not spare His own Son, nor did the Son spare Himself.”
Meditation 7: First Tuesday of Lent Jesus Suffers from the Beginning of His Life Adoramus Te, Christe, et benedicimus Tibi - We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You! Quia per Sanctam Crucem Tuam redemisti mundum - because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world! Kyrie eléison - Lord have mercy! ➕➕➕Hardly was Jesus conceived in the womb of Mary when He presented to His mind all the sufferings of His Passion, and in order to obtain for us pardon and Divine Grace, He offered Himself to His Eternal Father to satisfy for us, through His sufferings, all the chastisements due to our sins, and from that moment, He began to suffer everything that He afterwards endured in His most bitter Death.
This week: Four chapters, one topic... We're talkin' Jeff. We're talkin' postmortem. We're talking about tributes to the late, great Jeff Hanneman – the soul of Slayer and the true artist behind the band. One them was, according to Metal Injection's Johnny Orlando Jr., "the loudest memorial service I've ever attended, and the first one to break out into a massive mosh pit.” The weekly podcast Talkin' Slayer has six more episodes left, folks. And free listeners only hear half of those. To get every episode, including the ones you missed, sign up at Patreon.com/Slayerbook. Packages start at less than $1 per episode. DEEZ NOTEZ Chapter 55. Road to Calvary Meditation 6: First Monday of Lent The Foolishness of God Adoramus Te, Christe, et benedicimus Tibi - We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You! Quia per Sanctam Crucem Tuam redemisti mundum - because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world! Kyrie eléison - Lord have mercy! ➕➕➕St. Laurence Justinian: “We have seen Eternal Wisdom, the Only Begotten of God, become as it were, a fool through the excessive love He bears for Man.” Yes, my sweetest Redeemer, permit me to say so, this, Your spouse, was indeed right when she called You mad with Love. Does it not indeed seem a folly (foolishness) that You should choose to die for love of me, for so ungrateful a worm as I am, and whose offenses You foresaw, as well as the infidelities of which I should be guilty? But if You, my God, have thus become mad, as it were, for the love of me, how is it that I do not become mad for the love of God? I have seen You, crucified and dead for me - how is it that I can think of any other than You? O Scourges, O Thorns, O Nails, O Cross, O Wounds, O Sufferings, O Death of my Savior! You irresistibly constrained me to love Him Who has so much loved me. O Incarnate Word, and loving God! My soul is enamored with You.
Road to Calvary Meditation 5: First Sunday of Lent The Principal End of the Passion Adoramus Te, Christe, et benedicimus Tibi - We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You! Quia per Sanctam Crucem Tuam redemisti mundum - because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world! Kyrie eléison - Lord have mercy! ➕➕➕1 John 3.16: “In this we have known the charity and the love of God, in that He has laid down His Life for us.” Luke 9.31: “And they spoke of His Exodus (or excess) which He was to accomplish in Jerusalem.” St. John Chrysostom: “ This was the principal cause of the Passion of our Lord; He wished it to be known how great was the Love of God for men - of God, Who would rather be loved than feared. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/Johnathan-St.Dominic/support
Road to Calvary Meditation 4: Saturday after Ash Wednesday Jesus Chose to Suffer (Part 2) Adoramus Te, Christe, et benedicimus Tibi - We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You! Quia per Sanctam Crucem Tuam redemisti mundum - because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world! Kyrie eléison - Lord have mercy! ➕➕➕ Having Joy set before Him, He endured the Cross - Hebrews 12.2. Why did He choose for Himself so much suffering, and a Death so cruel, that Vincent Contenson has said very truly that through mere pain, the Soul of Jesus separated Itself from His Body? St. John Chrysostom answers, “That which sufficed to redeem us was not sufficient for love.” St. Bernard: “He endured much weariness that He might bind man to love Him much.” Says our Savior Himself, “Greater love than this no man has - that a man laid down his life for his friends.” St. Bernard answers: “ but you Have a greater charity, Lord, and giving your life for your enemies!” “He showed His love for us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).” --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/Johnathan-St.Dominic/support
Meditation 3: Friday after Ash Wednesday Jesus Chose to Suffer (Part 1) Adoramus Te, Christe, et benedicimus Tibi - We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You! Quia per Sanctam Crucem Tuam redemisti mundum - because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world! Kyrie eléison - Lord have mercy! The Road to Calvary Daily Meditations for Lent and Easter St. Alphonsus Ligouri “Two things,” says Cicero, “make us to know a lover- that he does good to his beloved and that he suffers torments for him, and this last is the greatest sign of true love.” St. Peter Chrysologus: “But He considered it to be very little if He showed His Love without suffering.” Who that has so many proofs of Your Love could resist loving You in return?! Saint Teresa - the one who does not love You proves that he does not know You. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/Johnathan-St.Dominic/support

Kyrie eléison - Lord have mercy! The Road to Calvary Daily Meditations for Lent and Easter St. Alphonsus Ligouri Meditation 2: Thursday after Ash Wednesday The Love of Jesus Christ See Isaiah, 53: 4-7, and Romans 8:32 We read in history of a proof of love so prodigious that it will be the admiration of all ages. There was once a king, lord of many kingdoms, who had one only son - so beautiful, so holy, so amiable that he was the delight of his father, who loved him as much as himself. This young prince had a great affection for one of his slaves, so much so that, the slave having committed a crime for which he had been condemned to death, the prince offered himself to die for the slave; the father, being jealous of justice, was satisfied to condemn his beloved son to death in order that the slave might remain free from the punishment that he deserved, and thus the son died a malefactor's death, and the slave was freed from punishment. This fact, unlike anything that has happened in this world, and never will, is related in the Gospels. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/Johnathan-St.Dominic/support
The body of critical study - and fan adoration - around the music of Napalm Death has concerned itself principally with the band's pioneering grindcore and its transition into the death metal of Harmony Corruption. But what of the band's wilderness years, the mid- to late-1990s? The 108th episode of Radical Research digs into what its hosts consider to be Napalm Death's most radical music, the four-album futurist blitzkrieg spanning the years 1994-1998. Get ready for some serious side-eye, Legions, as we cross over into the torn apart. Note I: In the episode, Hunter mentions Ian Christe's writing on the band's 1994 album, Fear, Emptiness, Despair. In Christe's Sound of the Beast, he writes that the album, "...started a fresh chapter in the history of a band whose membership half-life had once lasted no longer than an album side. Previous urban hardcore noise blasts were mowed by sophisticated guitar layering and innovative drum patterns. Their dissonance became a conscious component of the composition, not merely a side benefit of chaos, and the marriage of intense anger and calculation yielded a masterpiece of passionate, politically minded, negative realism." Note II: In an act of gall, the scalar dimensions of which could only be compared to the Pacific Ocean, Mont Blanc, and John Holmes' ballistic member, Christe includes Fear, Emptiness, Despair in his list of the 25 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time. The list includes other controversial entries, such as Morbid Angel's Formulas Fatal to the Flesh, and Dream Death's rarely-trumpeted but mighty Journey Into Mystery. Note III: In our excitement, we failed to mention the men who produced these albums. All were produced by the estimable Colin Richardson, except Fear, Emptiness, Despair, which was handled by Pete Coleman. Only one of these gentlemen have played flute on a Skyclad album. This podcast is conceived and conducted by Jeff Wagner and Hunter Ginn. Though we consume music in a variety of ways, we give particular privilege to the immersive, full-album listening experience. Likewise, we believe that tangible music formats help provide the richest, most rewarding immersions and that music, artwork, and song titles cooperate to produce a singular effect on the listener. Great music is worth more than we ever pay for it.
The Daily Show jumps back in time to this day in 2014. Host Jon Stewart covers Chris Christie's controversial lane closure at the George Washington Bridge. And Brit Hume argues that Chris Christie is the victim of America's "feminized atmosphere." Plus, Samantha Bee employs her theatrical talents to explain how Fox News's "The Five" is a love story. And Tim Gunn discusses his pinky pact with Heidi Klum and his show, "Under the Gunn."See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The field of challengers shrinks again. Yesterday Chris Christie "suspended" his run for the Oval Office. Does it matter? George talks about Christe's parting shots at both Trump and the other GOP candidates. George also plays an awkward hot mic moment from Christie that is not going to make him any friends. Then it's a discussion of the GOP debate between Haley and DeSantis. Did anything that happened on that stage matter?? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
For weeks, 36-year-old Joan Rogers and her two teenage daughters, Michelle and Christe, had eagerly awaited summer break so that they could embark on their first vacation outside their home state of Ohio. The trio set out to enjoy the sandy beaches of Florida, but the trip soon took a deadly turn. On June 4th, 1989, their bodies were found hogtied and undressed, floating in Tampa Bay. Retired FBI Special Agent Jana Monroe worked on the case from beginning to end. She details the barriers she broke which ultimately led to her work on the investigation, and later shares how she was able to catch the man responsible for the heinous killings: Oba Chandler. Jana had an illustrious career within the FBI. As the first female to earn a position in the Bureau's elite Behavioral Sciences Unit, she profiled many notorious killers and violent criminals for various law enforcement agencies. She later served as Special Agent In Charge in the FBI's field offices in Los Angeles, CA, and Phoenix AZ. She also served as the first Assistant Director of the FBI Cyber Division. Today we will be taking advantage of the rich traditions of the church specifically the plenary indulgence for December 31. In order to receive the indulgence, the three usual conditions of going to confession, receiving Holy Communion, and praying for the intentions of the Holy Father must also be met. Te Deum O God, we praise Thee, and acknowledge Thee to be the supreme Lord. Everlasting Father, all the earth worships Thee. All the Angels, the heavens and all angelic powers, All the Cherubim and Seraphim, continuously cry to Thee: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts! Heaven and earth are full of the Majesty of Thy glory. The glorious choir of the Apostles, The wonderful company of Prophets, The white-robed army of Martyrs, praise Thee. Holy Church throughout the world acknowledges Thee: The Father of infinite Majesty; Thy adorable, true and only Son; Also the Holy Spirit, the Comforter. O Christ, Thou art the King of glory! Thou art the everlasting Son of the Father. When Thou tookest it upon Thyself to deliver man, Thou didst not disdain the Virgin's womb. Having overcome the sting of death, Thou opened the Kingdom of Heaven to all believers. Thou sitest at the right hand of God in the glory of the Father. We believe that Thou willst come to be our Judge. We, therefore, beg Thee to help Thy servants whom Thou hast redeemed with Thy Precious Blood. Let them be numbered with Thy Saints in everlasting glory. V. Save Thy people, O Lord, and bless Thy inheritance! R. Govern them, and raise them up forever. V. Every day we thank Thee. R. And we praise Thy Name forever, yes, forever and ever. V. O Lord, deign to keep us from sin this day. R. Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us. V. Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, for we have hoped in Thee. R. O Lord, in Thee I have put my trust; let me never be put to shame. Te gloriosus Apostolorum chorus, Te Prophetarum laudabilis numerus, Te Martyrum candidatus laudat exercitus. Te per orbem terrarum sancta confitetur Ecclesia, Patrem immensae maiestatis: Venerandum tuum verum et unicum Filium; Sanctum quoque Paraclitum Spiritum. Tu Rex gloriae, Christe. Tu Patris sempiternus es Filius. Tu ad liberandum suscepturus hominem, non horruisti Virginis uterum. Tu, devicto mortis aculeo, aperuisti credentibus regna caelorum. Tu ad dexteram Dei sedes, in gloria Patris. Iudex crederis esse venturus. Te ergo quaesumus, tuis famulis subveni: quos pretioso sanguine redemisti. Aeterna fac cum sanctis tuis in gloria numerari. V. Salvum fac populum tuum, Domine, et benedic hereditati tuae. R. Et rege eos, et extolle illos usque in aeternum. V. Per singulos dies benedicimus te. R. Et laudamus nomen tuum in saeculum, et in saeculum saeculi. V. Dignare, Domine, die isto sine peccato nos custodire. R. Miserere nostri, Domine, miserere nostri. V. Fiat misericordia tua, Domine, super nos, quemadmodum speravimus in te. R. In te, Domine, speravi: non confundar in aeternum. On May 26 1989, Jo Rogers and her two teenage daughters - Michelle and Christe, left their dairy farm in the quiet village of Willshire, Ohio to begin their dream holiday in Florida. Nine days later, three deceased bodies surfaced in the waters of Tampa Bay. What followed was a desperate search for a killer who murdered his victims in the most sadistic way possible. --- Narration – Anonymous Host Research & writing – Jessica Forsayeth Creative direction – Milly Raso Production and music – Mike Migas Music – Andrew D.B.
