Am Donnerstag endete die 21. Staffel von «Germany's Next Topmodel» bei ProSieben. Doch der Fernsehsender sucht dort nicht etwa wirklich nach Models, sondern produziert eine Unterhaltungsshow. Noch vor fünf Jahren erreichte die Sendung weit über zwei Millionen Menschen vor den Fernsehschirmen und war auch bei den jungen Zuschauern sehr gefragt. Heutzutage resultieren die hohen Marktanteile bei den Umworbenen daraus, dass das übrige Programm am Donnerstag ebenfalls kaum nachgefragt wird. Mario Thunert und Fabian Riedner reden über die inhaltliche Struktur der Reality-Show, in der seit drei Staffeln auch Männer mitwirken dürfen. Außerdem wurden über die vergangenen Jahre Zugangsvoraussetzungen wie ein bestimmtes Höchstalter oder eine Mindestgröße abgeschafft. Doch das führte nicht dazu, dass die Modelshow von ProSieben ihre Reichweiten stabilisieren konnte. Zahlreiche Fernsehzuschauer wechselten von ProSieben zu Joyn, um «Germany's Next Topmodel» zu sehen. Doch der Streamingdienst der ProSiebenSat.1-Gruppe erzielt nur einen Bruchteil des Umsatzes der linearen Fernsehsender. Man kann durchaus sagen, dass die Produktion weiterhin durch die ProSieben-Ausstrahlung finanziert wird. Der Digitalumsatz des Unternehmens im Werbebereich lag 2025 bei 313 Millionen Euro – das war gegenüber dem Jahr 2024 ein Plus von einer Million Euro.
