Cohen from Stephen King's 1986 novel of the same name. The story revolves around a predatory monster that can transform itself into its prey's worst fears to devour them, allowing it to exploit the phobias of its victims. It mostly takes the humanoid form of Pennywise, an evil clown. Cast members included Tim Curry (Pennywise), Richard Thomas, Annette O'Toole, John Ritter, Harry Anderson, Jonathan Brandis, Tim Reid, Dennis Christopher, and others. Produced by Green/Epstein Productions, It was filmed over a period of three months in Vancouver, British Columbia, in mid-1990 with a budget of $12 million, double the usual television budget. While divided critical perspectives towards It have continued in later years, the miniseries has become most known for Curry's version of Pennywise, considered by several publications to be one of the scariest clown characters in film and television. It has also spawned an Indiegogo-funded documentary film about the miniseries' production, titled Pennywise: The Story of It (2020); and an alternate history sequel short named Georgie, also by the producers of the documentary. It (titled onscreen as It Chapter One) is a 2017 American supernatural horror film directed by Andy Muschietti and written by Chase Palmer, Cary Fukunaga, and Gary Dauberman. Starring Jaeden Lieberher and Bill Skarsgård, the film was produced by New Line Cinema, KatzSmith Productions, Lin Pictures, and Vertigo Entertainment.A critical and commercial success, the film set box office records and grossed over $704 million worldwide, becoming the third-highest-grossing R-rated film at the time of its release, and grossed over $719 million through subsequent re-releases. Unadjusted for inflation, it became the highest-grossing horror film of all time. The film received generally positive reviews, with critics praising the performances, direction, cinematography and musical score, and was called one of the best Stephen King adaptations. The second film, It Chapter Two, was released in 2019, covering the remainder of the book. A prequel television series, It: Welcome to Derry, premiered on HBO in 2025, with Skarsgård returning as Pennywise.Chapters00:00 Introduction00:48 Overview01:10 IT Book by Stephen King04:03 IT Miniseries (1990)09:00 Pennywise The Story of IT Documentary and Georgie Short Film10:30 IT Chapter One (2017) VS. Josh and Jade are back for Episode 204 of Our Taste is Trash, diving into the film Sentimental ValueDirected by Joachim Trier and written with Eskil Vogt, the film stars Stellan Skarsgård alongside Renate Reinsve and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas. It centers on a family navigating grief, unresolved trauma, and the emotional fallout that lingers across generations. This week, the hosts unpack the film's themes of generational trauma and emotional inheritance, spotlight Skarsgård's performance, and debate whether the movie hits hard or just drags on a bit too long. Is Sentimental Value quietly powerful or just quietly exhausting? Tune in and find out.
Is this the year of the Skarsgårds? Hosts Laura Gommans and Elliot Bloom kick things off with Pillion, Alexander Skarsgård's domcom about a BDSM relationship that keeps flipping the script on who's actually holding the power. Funnier and sharper than you'd expect, and a lot more honest about relationships. Then brother Bill Skarsgård shows up in Gus Van Sant's Dead Man's Wire, an offbeat thriller based a true-life hostage-taker, Tony Kiritsis, wanting to get back what he was owed. Laura and Elliot discuss the possible message behind Van Sant making this film, right now, in a world where Luigi Mangione fan edits are trending. And Laura and her folk-drenched past is eager to chat about History of Sound. A tender, quietly devastating homage from Paul Mescal and Josh O'Connor to American folk music that's barely registering on anyone's radar.Fill out our survey and win up to €100 worth of prizes. “One Battle After Another” é considerado o favorito a vencer Melhor Filme. Leonardo DiCaprio volta a estar nomeado.
Stellan Skarsgård is a celebrated Swedish actor whose career spans more than five decades across European and Hollywood cinema. He first gained attention in Scandinavia before becoming an international screen presence in films such as "Breaking the Waves" and "Good Will Hunting." He went on to deliver acclaimed performances in movies like "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," "Dune," "Dune Part 2," and television series like "Andor" and "Chernobyl." In his latest, Joachim Trier's "Sentimental Value," Skarsgård gifts us with perhaps his most robust and richest work in the form of Gustav, a once-prominent filmmaker struggling to mend fractured ties with his daughters. On this episode, he details the environment Trier created, through love, attention, and enthusiasm, that laid the tracks for that work to travel. He talks about the importance of "sabotaging your tools," why he's careful not to infect a director's vision, the emotional agility necessary for working with David Fincher, why relief from being an "acting addict" doesn't interest him, and much more! Back To One is the in-depth, no-nonsense, actors-on-acting podcast from Filmmaker Magazine. In each episode, host Peter Rinaldi invites one working actor to do a deep dive into their unique process, psychology, and approach to the craft. Follow Back To One on Substack and Instagram

Les, Kurt, and Jason may not be Golden Globe-nominated (this year), but that's not keeping them from being happy for having healthy relationships with exes after a breakup, just like Blac Chyna may or may not be having. Then, they dive in with the fish to swim with Hallmark's The Christmas Baby. Blame the many fish references on the stereotype-filled script that also includes lots of woodworking, a love of cats, and… the theater! In spite of the stereotypes, we're also served some new archetypes: a Paul Lynde-lite type who turns out to be nice, and a couple of mothers-in-law that are thick as thieves. So, don't live your life in fear o being afraid: instead of an Eskimo kiss, kiss your partner with the full force of your tongue as a baby is squeezed in between you. A leather-clad Alexander Skarsgård is riding into this week's Take as our very special guest. That's because he's here to talk about ‘Pillion', the one-of-a-kind comedy drama where he stars as mysterious BDSM biker Ray. The film follows his unfolding relationship with Colin, a shy small-town boy played by Harry Melling—who you might have heard on the show a few months back chatting to Simon about ‘Harvest'. Colin begins to discover his submissive streak under Ray's dominant hand, as their complex relationship develops. Alexander sits down with Simon to unpack the film—a ‘Dom-Com', as he calls it—and gives us the lowdown on what a Skarsgård Christmas looks like too. "Professor, my dreams grow darker. Does evil come from within us, or from beyond?" We watched a double feature of the original "Nosferatu" from 1922, directed by F.W. Murnau, and the most recent version, "Nosferatu" from 2024, directed by Robert Eggers, and we may need to sleep with the lights on. The original "Nosferatu" is the archetype for not only modern vampire movies but for horror movies in general. Count Orlok, as portrayed by Max Schreck (yes, it's his real name), is so iconic that it's become part of vampire lore. The Eggers film took this century-old material and made it so spooky, so creepy, and so modern that it's sure to endure for just as long. Lily-Rose Depp is a revelation as Ellen Hutter, and Billy Skarsgård is securing himself on the Mount Rushmore of modern horror. Nicholas Hoult and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are easy on the eyes, but the grotesque, eerie performances by Depp and Skarsgård seal the deal. Inte minst tack vare just mode.
In this episode, Christina talks with actor Gustaf Skarsgård, who is powerful in the historical crime drama To Cook a Bear(Hulu/Disney+), based on the bestselling novel by Mikael Niemi. They discuss embodying the Pastor, a fascinating, paradoxical character inspired by the real Lars Levi Laestadius, a man caught between faith, science, and survival in 1850s Sweden. The story weaves together themes of polarization, racism, class, and belief within a haunting detective mystery set against the stark northern wilderness. They also talk about Skarsgård's thoughtful approach to acting — how he chooses his roles, from Oppenheimer to Soderbergh's Black Bag to his upcoming role as Wallander — and how he has found more sustainable ways of working and living after past struggles with addiction. This week's episode of the Empire Podcast asks perhaps the biggest question ever tackled on this show: who would win in a fight between the Gleesons and the Skarsgårds? Join Chris Hewitt, Helen O'Hara, James Dyer, and Amon Warmann, as they tackle that scenario and more. Is the world truly ready for the Coppola clan kicking bottom? Elsewhere, our intrepid quartet discuss the week's movie news (Star Wars! Superman! Oh, and they also review Spike Lee's reunion with Denzel Washington, Highest 2 Lowest, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, Ethan Coen's Honey Don't, and Orlando Bloom's searing boxing drama, The Cut. In fact, Orlando is one of our guests this week, joining The Cut's director Sean Ellis to chat with Chris on Zoom about the extreme lengths, physical and otherwise, he went to for the film.
