Dislocations created by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, low water levels in the Panama Canal and the crisis in the Red Sea have increased the demand for LNG tankers and has been a boost for time-charter rates and earnings for ship owners. Earning power will remain strong, even as they normalize lower from 2021's peaks as rates remain well above breakeven levels for LNG tanker fleets. In this Talking Transports podcast, Oystein Kalleklev, CEO of Flex LNG and Avance Gas joins Lee Klaskow, Bloomberg Intelligence senior transportation & logistics analyst, to share his insights into the LNG tanker industry. Kelleklev also talks about the orderbook of these $260 million assets, demand trends, lowering emissions and the LNG tanker market becoming more dynamic following the 2011 Fukushima disaster.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A slightly warmish CPI hasn't moved the needle for us, so we stick with our current view on duration. Despite recently turning neutral on US duration, slowing growth and inflation should produce DM gov't bond return of ~6.5% assuming our yield targets are realized. Upside risk for growth and inflation may continue to eat in to rate cutting plans. With the Magnificent 7 facing jitters and Equal Weight S&P at highs, we are skeptical of the breadth improvement as megacaps are still leading with the laggards dragged along for the ride. As for PMI dislocations vs risk assets, we acknowledge the improvement on the growth trajectory closing some of the gap, but historically, in the event of a 2 standard deviation gap, stocks have had to make more of the adjustment. For this episode, the show welcomes Golden State Orthopedic and Spine's Dr. Jeffrey Kanel for a discussion on various shoulder injuries — most notably shoulder dislocations. Dr. Kanel is an orthopedic surgeon at Golden State Orthopedic and Spine. He is fellowship-trained in pediatric orthopedics and spinal deformities and specialty-trained in pediatric and adolescent sports medicine. His expertise could cover several topics, but this episode focused on shoulder dislocations, a relatively common injury among high school athletes and one that we hadn't really covered yet on the podcast. Over the 20 minute conversation, Dr. Kanel addresses what happens when a shoulder is dislocated and the process for surgery (more common in high school athletes than older patients) and recovery. He also covered labrum tears (also more common in teen dislocations than others), the difference between shoulder dislocations and shoulder separations, and how rotator cuff injuries are NOT common in teen athletes.

In this episode of the podcast I discuss all things shoulder injury & shoulder dislocation. With a injury that is as traumatic as a shoulder dislocation we often see a stack of mental, as well as physical barriers to returning to contact sports. If these are not addressed in the rehab phase it can be difficult to really overcome your injury, as well as get back playing at a level you want. In this episode I discuss why dislocations stop people returning to sport, some of the biggest problems I see in the rehab of a shoulder dislocation as well as how to get back to sport safely & effectively.

When Walter Schloss founded the funds management firm that bore his name in 1955, markets were a very different place. Schloss harnessed the power of Ben Graham's "net-nets" strategy and managed to outperform the market by more than 5% p.a. over the next 45 years. But could such a simple strategy work in today's deeply researched markets? Steve Johnson, Chief Investment Officer of Forager Funds thinks so. But why isn't every fund manager pursuing this strategy? “I still know people who are making exceptional returns doing that… Does it still work? Yes, it absolutely still works if you've got $500,000 or $1 million dollars.” In this week's episode of The Rules of Investing podcast, we discuss the biases that fund managers and private investors are most susceptible to, how to separate luck from skill, and his approach to properly valuing a business.

Lower-extremity dislocations are less common in the emergency department (ED) than shoulder and elbow dislocations, and emergency clinicians' experience with evaluation and reduction techniques is often limited. Nonetheless, these dislocations can be serious because of their association with vascular injury. This episode discusses the mechanism of injury, diagnostic approach, treatment plans, and potential complications of dislocations of the hip, knee, and ankle. This episode of EB Medicine's EMplify podcast is hosted by Jeff Nusbaum, MD, and Nachi Gupta, MD, PhD.
