The country's biggest publisher of news will soon begin charging readers of three titles for news online for the first time. Stuff is launching subscription-based websites for The Dominion Post, The Press and Waikato Times, but access to its main national news website stuff.co.nz will remain free. 

The Dominion Post newspaper has announced that it will now be called the Post, dropping 'Dominion' from its masthead. The editor stated that "we are under no-one's dominion" and it was time for a change. But what is the history of New Zealand's status as a dominion and what does it mean today? The answer is very surprising.

After 116 years, the "dominion" masthead is disappearing from newstands in the capital. The capital's last surviving daily paper The Dominion Post - started 21 years ago as a merger of The Dominion and The Evening Post - is being rebranded The Post. Ruth Hill asks - what's in a name?

This episode is the first of a two part update on Appalachian Mysteria Season 1 — Mared & Karen: The WVU Coed Murders.  Without a doubt, these two episodes will be the most important updates since the season finished airing in 2018. In this episode, we're reintroduced to Albert “Rod” Everly, a National Guardsman who was one of the first people on the scene when the bodies of Mared & Karen were found.  As it turns out, Rod has been nursing a theory about the murders for more than 50 years.  After acquiring the “Triangle” letters from Geoff and Sarah, he fleshes the theory out further, leading the podcast crew to unexpectedly exhume a body. A headline in the Dominion Post this week claimed there was “a clear favourite” among the candidates for Wellington's Mayor in a “straw poll” capital's daily itself had run online. But it acknowledged its result was entirely unscientific - and a proper poll out this weekend has a different result.

With less than a month until voting closes for local body elections, we take a look at who is in the running for the mayoralty in Wellington. With nine candidates vying to become mayor, three main contenders are leading the pack; incumbent Andy Foster, Labour MP for Rongotai and former deputy mayor Paul Eagle, and former Green Party chief of staff Tory Whanau. So what are the key issues in Wellington and what policies are the mayoral hopefuls promising? Prominent Wellington philanthropist Mark Dunajtschik will donate up to $50million for a new mental health unit at Hutt Hospital near Wellington. The gift follows his 2017 donation of fifty million dollars to build a new children's hospital in Newtown. On Thursday night he won the Icon Award at the Wellington Gold Awards, sponsored by the Dominion Post, for his philanthropic contributions. Corin Dann spoke to Mr Dunajtschik about the inspiration behind his generosity.
