It's an unusual topic to base a musical on; the change of a road rule. But that's exactly what Give Way The Musical does, putting a satirical spin on the 2012 change to the 'give way' law. The story follows idealistic Sophie who, wanting to make the world a better place, joins the Ministry of Transport. She seizes on fixing New Zealand's 'give way' rule, but not everyone's keenon a change. A protest movement gathers, the sides go to war, and dirty tactics begin. The musical is produced by renowned New Zealand playwright Dave Armstrong, and stars Bronwyn Turei, as seen in Go Girls and The Brokenwood Mysteries, who also took out Actor of the Year at last year's Wellington Theatre Awards. Dave and Bronwyn joined Nick Mills to discuss the performance, opening at Circa Theatre this week and running until May 24. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

As I was reading stuff online I came across an article from Roman Catholic apologist Dave Armstrong against William Lane Craig's defense of monothelitism.Armstrong blames Craig's error on Sola Scriptura and rejecting the "infallibility" of the Roman Catholic church. While I agree that Craig is wrong about monothelitism, I also believe Armstrong is wrong about why. This episode addresses both the error of monothelitism and the error of Roman Catholic epistemology. I believe Craig's philosophy is the problem. I also believe history disproves Armstrong's "infallible church" idea and that Scripture is the authority for determining who Jesus is.Sources Cited:William Lane Craig, "#75 Monotheletism," Reasonable Faith, September 22, 2008.Dave Armstrong, "William Lane Craig's Christological Errors (Monothelitism +)," Patheos, Updated April 5, 2018.Dave Armstrong, "Sola Scriptura Can't Definitively Refute Christological Heresy," Patheos, Updated June 14, 2020.William Lane Craig, "Does Christ Have Two Wills or One?" drcraigvideos, July 15, 2022, educational video, 0:07 to 0:56."Third Council of Constantinople (A.D. 680-681)," New Advent, Accessed August 18, 2024."Discourse I" in "Four Discourses Against the Arians (Athanasius)," New Advent, Accessed August 18, 2024."Gregory of Nazianzus - Critique of Apollinarius and Apollinarianism," Early Church Texts, Accessed August 18, 2024.Scriptures Referenced:Isaiah 53:11Galatians 3:132 Corinthians 5:211 Peter 3:18Acts 2:22,30-31Hebrews 1:2-3; 2:16-18; 4:14-15; 5:7-9James 1:13-14*** Castle Rock Women's Health is a pro-life and pro-women health care ministry. Last week's market volatility flirted with a bear market as sell-offs deepened. Analysts are much less confident where stocks and the economy are going. A lot of investors thought the Fed was getting inflation under control, but the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for August told a different story. A lot of companies are revising their outlooks downward because the landscape has changed. Is all this making you feel anxious? Nervous about the future? Question if you're going to be ok? All of the above? Erin Hay, Monument's portfolio manager, joins Off the Wall hosts Dave Armstrong and Jessica Gibbs to talk about the market sell-off and why it happened. They also breakdown what's going on in the bond market, inflation, and consumer sentiment. Right? No matter what it is, there's a road. The road may be long, the road may be short, but there's a road. 5:20 And so when we talk about self efficacy, we talk about goal setting, and we talk about self confidence, what I see is a lot of people don't realize that they have to set these small, tangible goals and build to their big goal. 8:06 So self efficacy is “I am able to.” [It's] what you believe you are able to do. 11:53 There is no one way to make yourself happy. There just isn't. There's a bunch of things that you can try that are out there. 13:16 The better physical condition you are in, the more likely you will be happy and healthy and productive and do the things in your life that you want to do, that you deserve to do. 14:28 There's some grit to it at the beginning. And the grit part is to make it a habit. That's grit. Like, there's some tricks to making things a habit, but when it comes down to it, it's going to just take you going “this is what I'm going to do.” 17:16 Before one seeks a mentor or to be around people that they would like to emulate or positive influences in their lives, they need to recognize the negative influences in their lives. Wow, I want to say that one more time. If someone is bad for you, get them out of your life.19:43 A lot of people want to succeed in their lives, they want to be happier, they want to be in a better place, yet they keep the negative influences in their lives, and they can't for the life of them figure out why they keep the negative things or people in their lives. 20:25 So cutting off our negative or limiting if we have to, our negatives, in our environment is just as important as looking at what we can do to surround ourselves with the positives and the people that we need to surround ourselves with.22:20 I want to have an impact in the world, continue to help people, continue to inspire people and really make a difference in people's lives.24:14 But no matter who you are, you're going to have setbacks, you're going to have difficulties, you're going to have losses, you're going to have breakups, you're going to have you know, grandparents and parents pass away…these things will happen to us, I don't care who you are. And we can choose to let those experiences define us. Or, we can let those experiences help us move on to better places in our lives.27:39 And if you're in a good place, then I would offer up your services to help others. And this book will inspire you to not just help at-risk youth, but seek to give, because we are all connected, and we can be so much more connected. And when we're in good places, we can do amazing things for people that we don't know.28:33 I wake up in the morning and say, How can I leave a positive impression? How can I help someone, how can I do something to make someone realize that they have some amazing abilities and beauty inside them that they can unleash? 29:12 But I guarantee you, once you make that initial step, everything will get easier. It just takes you showing up for yourself.Dear Mind, You Matter is brought to you by NOBU, a new mental health, and wellness app. To download NOBU, visit the app store or Google Play.
