There are an infinite number of stories to tell, an infinite number or worlds to explore. But sometimes one just burrows into your brain and won't let go, squirming into every daydream and idle conversation, demanding to be brought to life. And writer-producer Pete Jones believes those are the ones worth pursuing. An up and coming filmmaker who got his big break thanks to the Miramax sponsored competition "Project Greenlight," Peter Jones went from production assistant and insurance salesman to director and screenwriter almost overnight when he was awarded $1 million with which to produce his debut feature "Stolen Summer' (2002). He's since gone on to write multiple successful comedy films, including "Ricky Stanicky," "The Greatest Beer Run Ever," and "Hall Pass." I studion sitter Martin, Panos, Ludvig och Esmeralda Säll. Veckans avsnitt bjuder på mycket död och nostalgi. Ludvig har återbesökt den väl omtalade bokserien Vargbröder och leder oss på en mysig resa i våra barndomar. Martin har köpt 37 spel från 90-talet för barn i åldrarna 5-9 och har spelat dem av någon outgrundlig anledning. The year is 2009 and the movies are period pieces. First up it's '3 Idiots,' and the period examined is just a few years ago, when stars R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi go to college and there meet Aamir Khan, a charismatic Mary Poppins type. Rajkumar's Hirani's film was a giant success in India, and we discuss some of its crossover appeal in light of other Bollywood (and Tollywood) imports. Then we move on to 'Me and Orson Welles,' Richard Linklater's look at the Mercury Theater in New York City in the 1930s. Zac Efron takes on Christian McKay's Welles in the battle for charismatic supremacy and the company of Claire Danes. Hosted by Brad Garoon & Jake Ziegler Other movies discussed in this episode: Revanche (2008), Adventureland (2009), An Education (2009), A Serious Man (2009), Avatar (2009), Away We Go (2009), Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009), The Hurt Locker (2009), I Love You Man (2009), The Informant! This week, the guys take a look the Vietnam war by watching "The Greatest Beer Run Ever" starring Zac Efron and Russell Crowe. Will the guys finally get their coveted sponsorship? Probably not, unless Pabst is feeling generous.
Three-time BloodList writers Joe Russo & Chris LaMont's Netflix horror movie, The Inheritance, directed by Alejandro Brugues (Pooka Lives), is currently in post-production. They re-wrote The Locksmith, a thriller starring Ryan Phillippe, Kate Bosworth and Ving Rhames, which shot in November 2021. Their screenplay, Soul Mates, wrapped production in July 2022. All three are expected to release in 2023. In 2020, the writing duo penned the thriller The Au Pair Nightmare, which Russo directed. The movie debuted to strong reviews and ratings, with USA Today saying it, "pushes all the right buttons." They wrote the Bruce Willis actioner Hard Kill, which was the #2 movie on Netflix over Thanksgiving. Russo also directed the short film Be Mine for Crypt TV. His short, Midnight Clear (featured on Entertainment Weekly, Nerdist and io9), was released on Gunpowder & Sky's digital platform, Alter. Russo produced the horror anthology Nightmare Cinema, which was the #2 movie on Shudder in 2019 and associate produced the Skydance/Apple movie The Greatest Beer Run Ever, starring Zac Efron and Russell Crowe and directed by Peter Farrelly (Green Book), which debuted at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. He has The Untitled Hulk Hogan Biopic set at Netflix with Chris Hemsworth starring and Todd Phillips (Joker) directing. Russo also produces the critically acclaimed podcast series Post Mortem with Mick Garris, featuring over a hundred in-depth conversations with genre legends like Stephen King, John Carpenter, Guillermo del Toro, Edgar Wright and many more. Just how far will a man go for his friends? The new movie "The Greatest Beer Run Ever" is based on a true story that answers that question while paying homage to those who served in the Vietnam War. The loyalty of those brothers in arms is critical to how younger generations remember their service and sacrifice. Special correspondent Mike Cerre reports for our arts and culture series, "CANVAS." Director Peter Farrelly discusses his new film, The Greatest Beer Run Ever, with fellow director Larry David in a Q&A at the DGA theater in Los Angeles. In the conversation, Farrelly speaks about shooting the movie in Thailand, how the real-life story compares to the film, and why he loves to have weather in a movie. Based on a true story, the film follows Chickie, a slacker and former marine living with his parents in 1967 New York. When he decides that the best way to support his friends serving in the Vietnam War is to deliver them cans of beer, Chickie's outlook on the war is forever changed.
