Barry Creyton began his career at the age of 17 in theatre and in radio in Australia and by age 20, was playing leads on stage, and in national radio productions. He also hosted his own weekly radio program devoted to theatre news and interviews. At 21, he made his Australian television debut as Lorenzo in a national television production of The Merchant of Venice. For three seasons, he starred in the TV series The Mavis Bramston Show. This ground breaking show, the highest rated in the history of Australian television, dealt with topical and political satire.Creyton relocated to England for twelve years playing comedy and dramatic roles in London's West End - including Don's Party (Royal Court), Roger's Last Stand (Duke of York's), Ten Years Hard (Mayfair), Urban Guerilla (Soho Poly), a revival of the musical Salad Days, and Liz, a musical based on Aristophanes' Lysistrata as well as several revues and the National Tour of Abelard and Heloise. On his return to Australia, Creyton starred in many theatre productions - Ayckbourn's Bedroom Farce, Season's Greetings and Absurd Person Singular, Frayn's Noises Off, and in Pack Of Lies, Side By Side By Sondheim, The Owl And The Pussycat, Suddenly At Home, The Philanthropist, and played twins in the comedy-thriller Corpse. He guest starred on many popular TV episodics. These roles were generally amorous cads or big-business villains - characters at odds with the comedies he played on the stage. They included The Restless Years, The Young Doctors, Skyways, Cop Shop, The Sullivans, I Married a Bachelor, Cuckoo in the Nest, as well as guest star roles in TV movies, Image of Death, All at Sea, the Michael Powell feature, They're a Weird Mob and the BBC's Robert Louis Stevenson in Australia. He turned to directing, with the musical Nunsense which broke box office records all over Australia, and employed two companies playing simultaneously. A motorcycle accident during the run of Corpse resulted in a badly broken leg. The long recuperation period enabled him to write a stage comedy, Double Act. Since 1990, Creyton has worked almost exclusively in the United States, principally as writer and director. He relocated from New York to Los Angeles when commissioned to write a movie of the week for Hearst Television, while his off Broadway revue Secrets Every Smart Traveler Should Know ran for two and a half years in New York. His critically acclaimed adaptation of Noël Coward's Peace in Our Time for the Antaeus Theatre Company in L.A. received the Ovation Award and the L.A. Weekly Annual Theatre Award; the L. A. Times voted the production among the best world theatre of the year.He has appeared on stage at the Antaeus Theatre in Balzac's Cousin Bette, Shaw's The Doctors Dilemma and Moliere's School For Wives and as Apollo in The Curse of Oedipus.Creyton returns to Australia periodically for theatre engagements, starring in Noël Coward's Blithe Spirit, directing and starring in his own plays, Later Than Spring and Valentine's Day (since produced in several languages and, along with his Double Act, in constant repertoire in Europe), and in 2007 he returned to Sydney's Ensemble Theatre to star in Peter Quilter's play Glorious, and again in 2010 in Quilter's Duets, in which he played four diverse characters. His young adult novels, The Dogs of Pompeii and Nero Goes to Rome, co-authored with American writer Vaughan Edwards, are published by Random House, and his novel Murder is Fatal, an affectionate parody of noir movies, was published in 2017.His novel The View from Olympus Mons, was published in 2022 by NineStar Press. The STAGES podcast is available to access and subscribe from Spotify and Apple podcasts. Minnesota has many lakes. People call Minnesota the "Land of 10,000 Lakes." Ln fact, there are more than 15,000 lakes. It also has rivers. The great Mississippi River begins at Lake ltasca. lt is very small where it starts. The river then flows 2,340 miles to the Gulf of Mexico. The name Minnesota is a Native American word. Can you guess what it means? lf you think that Minnesota means "water," you are right. lt means "sky-colored water." lt is a good name for this state.Minnesota also has many forests. People tell a story about a woodcutter named Paul Bunyan. He was very large. They say he cut down 500 trees before breakfast.Minnesota is beautiful, but it is very cold in the winter. ln the biggest city, Minneapolis, there are skyways between many buildings. Skyways are like bridges. People can walk from place to place without going out into the cold.St. Paul is the capital of Minnesota. Here, at the winter carnival, people make ice sculptures.Minnesota is a safe and healthy place to live. lt has the best school system in the country. Students choose the school they want to go to. Tony Bonner has a striking presence; he exudes abundant energy and maintenance of the matinee idol looks that propelled him onto an international career. His immediate fame came as chopper pilot Jerry King in the iconic television series Skippy the Bush Kangaroo. The series became universally acclaimed and brought adoration for the cast. But Bonner’s extensive resume is more than Skippy. It boasts impressive work that spans several decades across stage, television and film platforms. The son of an actor, Bonner’s early forays in the theatre saw him commence work as a dresser for J.C. Williamson productions. It was not long before he was seduced by the stage and the colourful folk who graced it. Musicals with ‘The Firm’ included The Sentimental Bloke, The Great Waltz and How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. As an award winning actor his television credits extend through Australia, the U.K. and USA. These have included Cop Shop, Homicide, Skyways, Hawaii Five-O, Murder She Wrote, The Persuaders, The Box, Matlock Police, Carson’s Law, Division 4, The Rockford Files and Neighbours. He has worked alongside and befriended screen legends Tony Curtis, Kirk Douglas, Paul Hogan, Charles Bronson, Tom Selleck and Roger Moore in an impressive list of films that include Soldier of Fortune, The Man From Snowy River, Creatures The World Forgot, Quigley Down Under and The Lighthorsemen. He is brutally honest in recalling the triumphs and troughs of a colourful life. And he tells it all with immense charm, humour and survival. The Stages podcast is available from Apple podcasts, Spotify, Whooshkaa and where all good podcasts are found.

On today's show- the climate controlled hallways that elevate Minneapolis and St. Paul humans to the second floor. The value of these skyways is a contentious issue. Some say they kill street life and hurt small business. Others see the skyways as an asset for less mobile populations, and a comfortable way to get out of the office. But for this show, we’re going to set the debate aside and take a walk through these elevated hallways. With professional place maker, Max Musicant, we’ll explore how design affects people, how people shape the built environment, and how these spaces foster civic life. Corrections & Listener Mail CorrectionsFirst off, we got a note about The Dutch Inn, with the "Sleepy Bear" - he would greet you as you entered the hotel. Very neat little tip about that chain of hotels. Another listener wrote in about the Vistana resort and how they were the first timeshare you could get into. We got lots of great memories related to Hotel Plaza Boulevard. Eric Jacobson wrote in about an article from 1985, regarding the EPCOT Center Polls. We go through some of the information related to this vintage poll from EPCOT and it also led write to a letter from Dan. Listener Mail Dan wrote in, a former cast member, about how he was "The Person of the Century". Basically, Dan messed this all up for Disney and he would tell people all day to "Vote For Dan". This led to a mysterious closure of this area, which we are guessing was due to our listener Dan. Such a great story, thanks for sharing! Next up, we heard from Christopher. He recently visited Fort Wilderness and sent us a picture of the original River Country Restroom sign. Such a cool gem that is leftover back there. Elizabeth wrote in regarding the third floor of The Contemporary Resort and the compressed floor. We discuss what we know regarding this, but we'd love to hear from some others. Such an interesting topic.... Reese touched base about a guard on Tom Sawyer's Island. She wanted some more information about this fort guard, which How is happy to offer. John wrote in with some artifacts, books, scans and lots of good stuff for us to share. Thanks! Finally, we had numerous listeners ask for the full radio loop from WDW. This will be coming soon and we have a plan, don't worry! Thank you for all the emails, tweets and comments you have sent our way. We try to respond to almost everything and do our best to pick unique questions for the show. Questions, Comments & Concerns We love feedback and hearing your memories! We do a little bit of Disneyland history along with Skyway history in general. This episode takes you for a ride on the Skyway through our unique perspectives and memories. Most of us have ridden this one, so the picture we paint and the mechanical end of things we go into is quite detailed. Hope you enjoy!Swan BoatsThis is an interesting one, because none of us have ridden this one. Todd shares an interesting memory how his family used to love the Swan Boats and were super disappointed when it closed. How could have possibly ridden it, but we really don't know for sure. We go into the build history, mechanics, and of course what the ride consisted of. The Swan Boats have such a unique and almost lost history, there isn't much out there. When you look at the path of the boats though, it was a neat and relaxing attraction that I'm sure lots of our listeners would have enjoyed.

The Mad Chatters Podcast | Walt Disney World and Around the Disney Universe
Please stand clear of the doors – The Mad Chatters Podcast will depart momentarily. On this week's show we're highlighting three modes of transportation that have strong ties to Disney parks: the skyway, the monorail, and the peoplemover. Not only do all three of these transportation methods offer an above-ground alternative to cars and boats, but they also were all very new to the U.S. when The Walt Disney Company brought them to the parks. On our latest show we look back at the history of these transports, how they revolutionized the Disney parks, and why they mean so much to Disney fans today. In our latest edition of "The Windows of Main Street," we honor the life of Disney Legend Marty Sklar, who sadly passed away last week. Plus, we share some of our favorite WDW hidden gems in the segment "It's the Small Things, After All." Come join the conversation! (For the comfort of others, no smoking please.) We’d love for you to connect with us online! Find us on Facebook (/madchatterspodcast), Instagram (@madchatters), and Twitter (@MadChatters). Or, send your emails to comments@madchatters.net. Thanks for listening!
