Was denn?“, fragte May sichtlich gespannt. „Ich habe den Podcast der großartigen Spielkinder unter Supervision kennengelernt. Sie besprechen unter anderem Filme in einem kurzen spoilerfreien Review Part und einem ausführlichen Analyseteil, der mit einer deutlichen Spoilerwarnung abgetrennt ist. Ich bin ein Riesenfan. The Independent Characters - A Warhammer 40k Podcast | Radio
Episode 181 of The Independent Characters brings you our 2018 wrap-up episode. Let me just first say that if you do not like our Hobby Progress segments, we apologize, because this one is extra long, coming in at nearly an hour and a half as we talk about our 2018 commitments, where we succeeded or failed, and then make new ones for 2019. There is also quite a bit that was accomplished over the holiday break by everyone and we go into detail about all those... including a few tangents here and there. Then we launch into the 2018 Warhammer 40k review! We go over every release from Games Workshop, Black Library, and Forge World, with a sprinkling of 3rd party releases thrown in here and there. We love these episodes because it really boils down to our opinions on a lot of things here. We hope you enjoy the episode as well! PS - Yes we also realize that at the very end we forgot to mention the Primaris version of Marneus, his guards and the new Black Legion Commander... We're back this week to tackle the who, what, when, where and why of the second half of our 1981 Year in Review Part 2! July of 1981 is a strong month for the rock genre. Strong efforts include releases by Foreigner, Def Leppard, and the Ramones. Additionally, some great under the radar albums by Demon and New England help bolster and already solid month. The month of August is a busy one in news and pop culture. The launch of MTV on August 1st is a landmark moment that's about to turn the music world on its head. Also taking place in August of 1981, John Lennon assassin Mark David Chapman is sentenced. Furthermore, a fantastic musical release by Brad Whitford and Derek St. Holmes is getting attention. 1981 Year in Review Part 2 September of 1981 is filled with great rock music as well as a shocking personnel change. The month is marked with solid outings by Triumph, Grand Funk Railroad, Michael Schenker Group, KIX, and Alice Cooper. Additionally, Iron Maiden do the unthinkable and switch lead singers right as the band is beginning its ascent. The music news for October of 1981 includes a young Prince being boo'd off the stage while opening for the Rolling Stones. Also, music piracy is on the radar as the "Home Taping is Killing Music" campaign is launched. Music releases for October include new solo material from Ozzy Osbourne as well as a big release from his previous band, Black Sabbath. Notably, KISS venture into uncharted waters with a new look and a strange concept album. Hollywood death gripped the United States in November of 1981. Famed actress Natalie Wood tragically drowns while on a boat ride with two other notable thespians. Mystery continues to surround the case. Also of note, porn star John Holmes is arrested, and later acquitted, in the Laurel Canyon "Wonderland" murders. Additionally, November of 1981 is highlighted by big releases from Motley Crue and AC/DC. All of this is covered this week as well as classic commercials in our 1981 Year in Review Part 2! This week we look at 1996, a year that celebrated the past while looking to the future. In part 1, we dig into the first half of 1996; and it was a busy six months. January includes stories on the evils of Alternative Rock and near fatal incidents involving some big name celebrities. Additionally, it included new releases from ACCEPT and Mr. Big. We head into February of 1996 by discussing some fantastic rock releases. It was a month that included fresh material from Bad Religion and Enuff Z'nuff. It also featured new releases by veteran artists like Deep Purple as well as Bruce Dickinson. February 28th was a monumental day for KISS fans as the original band appeared in full regalia at the Grammy Awards. This week we give you our reactions to this event as well as our take on the mania that was the KISS Reunion Tour. [caption id="attachment_34556" align="alignright" width="300"] 1996 Year in Review Part 1 [/caption] The month of March, 1996 was a busy on in the rock and metal world. Judas Priest returned with a new lead singer, KISS released MTV Unplugged, and Stone Temple Pilots solidified their standing with Tiny Music. Additionally, the Beatles returned to the top of the heap with their Anthology album release. The big story of April 1996 is certainly the Unabomber arrest. Ted Kaczynski was found holed up in a Montana cabin after years of harm. Also, Local H releases their As Good As Dead album on April 16th. We're not drawing any parallels (or are we?). May of 1996 was chock full of great music releases. New material by hard rock stalwarts Scorpions and Great White was premiered. Soundgarden wrapped up their golden age with Down on the Upside. Additionally, new music from King's X and a fantastic one-and-done album by Imperial Drag. We close out this week's episode discussing June of 1996. News stories covered include the Communications Decency Act of 1996 and the kickoff to KISS' reunion tour at Detroit's Tiger Stadium. Music covered in June includes Zakk Wylde's first solo effort, Book of Shadows, and the aforementioned KISS with their You Wanted the Best release. We had a blast looking back at the first half of 1996. Included in this episode are discussions of sports stories of the year as well as popular television shows. All that and, of course, plenty of classic commercials. If you enjoyed this Year in Review episode be sure to check out our Year in Review archive! 09 Gainsville FEST 16 Review - Part 2 of 3 by Jayson Befort
Description: Lauren is back, alongside friend of the show (and co-host of the sometimes mentioned, never, ever to be heard 2016 Year in Review Part 2 episode) Jill, to *kind of* talk about the 22 year old coming of age film EMPIRE RECORDS. Why? Well, it's simple really: March 8 is Rex Manning Day (say no more, mon amore)! Two of this week's episodes love the movie, one of them only finds the soundtrack worthwhile, and it's pretty much Producer Dave's favorite film. Oh, before we forget: Jill made homemade whiskey sours, and they were delicious. Check out all of our other episodes, subscribe, share, & review us on iTunes. The Independent Characters - A Warhammer 40k Podcast | Radio
Episode 146 of The Independent Characters goes back to 2016 to discuss the year that was. First we open with some hobby progress, a dip into our plans for 2017, and then move into a quick interview with Teras of Geek Nation Tours to discuss the Geekend out with Miniatures in the UK tour. After that we launch into a lengthy list and discussion about how Games Workshop treated Warhammer 40k in 2016. What a year it was! Not only do we discuss what products came out in support of Warhammer 40k, we also talk a bit about where we think they may be going this year. Even as we were recording, Games Workshop released the brand new Lord of Change model (and Kairos Fateweaver), and we spend a few minutes trying to catch our breath after seeing that! All of that and more in this episode! We bid a final farewell to 2016 the only way we know how - by using lists to help us verbalise our half-formed thoughts on the films from the second portion of that calendar year. In this much anticipated sequel to "Year in Review Part 1", we smash our way through the likes of; My Scientology Movie, The Purge: Election Year, Hell or High Water, Ben-Hur (in depth) and David Brent: Life on the Road. Special attention is of course given to both Suicide Squad and Rogue One, which necessitate Deeper levels of conversational Dive. PLUS! Olly berates a (hypothetical) young Scottish girl who is a relation of Iain's, just for liking The BFG. Expect his best impersonation yet!
