Welcome back to the Rock 'n Roll Ghost Podcast. On this week's episode, the Ghost speaks with actor Eric Roberts about his role in the new film Hard Luck Love Song, as well as his incredible 40+ year career in entertainment. Roberts discusses working on such films as The Specialist (with Sylvester Stallone, James Woods, Sharon Stone and Rod Steiger), Runaway Train (with Jon Voight and Rebecca Demornay), and goes in depth about his work on two of his most well known films, Star 80 (with Mariel Hemingway) and The Pope of Greenwich Village (with Mickey Rourke), revealing the idea of a sequel he and Rourke might do, as well as the director who was fired from the original before the film began rolling. He also touches on his relationship with Rourke, citing his performance in Barfly as his favorite of his friend. Additionally, he recently wrapped a role in Damien Chazelle's (Whiplash, La La Land) upcoming star heavy Hollywood extravaganza, Babylon (also featuring Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie). Roberts' joy is something quite amazing to bear witness to. He's especially proud of his stepson, musician Keaton Simons, who he describes as his favorite singer/songwriter. Simons will actually be a guest on a future episode of this show. This was one of the greatest shows I've had the privilege to present, in a heavily stacked pack of fabulous. I can't believe how much fun I had with Eliza and Eric Roberts. Even though we opened talking about the pandemic, and the idiot's response to today's Impeachment, the terrorism at his hand, and the threat of next week's violence, once we moved past the weighty issues of the day, we eased into a nothing short of glorious conversation. This couple so love, revere, and enjoy each other, and the load of work they do, even in the midst of this craziness. Eric has 56 projects currently filming, in pre or post-production, procured by miraculous Eliza, who also oft co-stars, handles tech, teaches actors, and steers Keaton Simons' her uber-talented sons' career. I'm exhausted thinking about it all, they live it daily, on top of being stellar humanists who stand-up for worthy cause upon worthy cause and help launch young, up and coming talent. They're a one-of-a-kind, spectacular couple. We got the story behind Another World, King of the Gypsies, Star 80, Bob Fosse, The Pope of Greenwich Village, Mickey Rourke, Runaway Train, Jon Voight, The Dark Knight, Dr. Who and Stalked By My Doctor. Eliza, actress, casting director, teacher, manager, took us through her wildly successful showbiz family, All in The Family, Animal House, how these two lovebirds met and forged an empire of successes with kindness, compassion, and grace. It was great to laugh, learn, and be inspired. I adore these two, and always love their good company. Tonight, it was an anti-corona elixir. Wanna smile, a lot... watch! Support the Show! Be sure to #FillTheFedora on Patreon. Case Profile for Conrad Series It was a night very different from other nights in Chicago. A local theater in Lincoln Square, The Davis Theater, saw TV & Film stars converge to gaze at their work in a TV Pilot, Conrad.  This TV Pilot is not yet picked up by a network but the fact that the evening was even happening is a story all on its own.  See most TV Pilots are green lit by major studios or development houses.  Conrad however was crafted from just a 2 page demo reel script written by one of the shows co-creators Ryan Atkins.   Applying to play the part of the female detective in this two page script Jennifer Karum asked if she could take this 2 page concept home to turn it into the Conrad story presented before us today.  Jennifer and Ryan have leveraged their connections, finances and sure will to get Conrad created, shot and now at a place where it was ready to be shown to the public at the Chicago premiere screening.   Conrad stars Eric Roberts playing the father Michael Conrad, a Police Chief in his own precinct. Jennifer Karum as Katy Conrad, an aspiring police worker looking to make detective. The Blacklist's Harry Lennix as Detective Don Brewer and Hisham Tawfiq playing Officer Dan Nack. Produced and Directed by Kelly Tidmore, Conrad revolves around dark themes like human trafficking and what it takes to truly find out out the truth.  In this special episode your very own Aaron Peterson sits down with Ryan, Jennifer, Eric, Harry, and Hisham to dish all things Conrad as well as some life lessons from Eric, Acting History from Harry, and the one thing Hisham wishes he could tell Blacklist fans.  After the interviews if you stick around, we have the full Q&A panel from after the screening of the pilot.  Be sure to let us know what you thought of this special episode and Let us know if you are interested in seeing Conrad? Visit our feedback page to leave a response or call +1 (304) 837-2278. Kaveh is highly on-demand in the LA scene and collaborates with some of today's most popular artists like CeeLo Green and Bruno mars. Kaveh has a fascinating background, playing a wide range of genres, from classical to reggae and punk rock. He is a member of the Grammy nominated band Kneebody and is currently on tour with singer John Legend. His story is a great reminder, especially for those at the starting stages, that a musical career is not just about big gestures and big decisions. It's built with the succession of little events that might seem inconspicuous at first, but end up adding up and can lead us to so many great opportunities and accomplishments. Whether it's a chance meeting, a conversation, or being exposed to something new - all of this can open a world of new possibilities. Later in the episode, Kaveh delivers inspiring insight on how to continue growing after college, going after your dreams, and keeping your enthusiasm and spark for music alive. Get ready to be inspired by Kaveh's story! He elaborates on: His story, from growing up in Colorado and learning to play by ear, to attending Eastman, and playing in the biggest stages in the world How he was exposed to an incredibly wide range of music growing up and how that shaped him How he came to choose the bass The different things he learned from the many genres and experiences he had as a young musician How he started playing gigs around his hometown and how that created the basis for the many strong connections and friendships that deeply influenced his career His experience at Eastman How practice becomes different after school – how we need to seek out teachers and seek our own answers How his practice today involves a mix of methodical exercises and creative experimenting His creation process, involving collaboration with friends and artists he admires, improvisation, and experimentation How easy it is to start comparing ourselves and how it is important to celebrate all the small victories How important it is to set goals     ALL ABOUT KAVEH: Website: http://kavehrastegar.com/home.html His discography: https://www.discogs.com/artist/538980-Kaveh-Rastegar YouTube Light of Love: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIgWIgmC_t8 Facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/kavehrastegarmusician/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kavehrastegar/?hl=en Twitter: https://twitter.com/kavehrastegar   Kaveh Rastegar is a Grammy nominated Electric and Upright bassist.
