On episode 72, Steve and Britt break down Shout's debut album, "It Won't Be Long." Ken Tamplin, from the band Joshua, and Idle Cure's Chuck King got together and wrote some great tunes, and they recorded and released them on Frontline records in 1988. We also talk about a lot of news and generally have a great time! We're back to Jocktober today with Arizona's #1 morning show, featuring a guy who has the unique talent of making the same point for thirty minutes at a time. John Holmberg has some hot takes like the WNBA isn't very good and neither is Lebron James' son. Trucker Andy and Lucy Tightbox join us to talk about Jason Mewes' penis. Kristine Knowlton is better than usual thanks to a mute button. John Goblikon is an insurance rep who's also a great podcast host. Ken Tamplin is caught buying subscribers now? This is not going well for him. Steel Toe has a huge announcement that's going to save all of us a lot of money. Stuttering John is getting played by Vince the Lawyer like a fiddle and it's embarrassing. Cardiff and Annie join us for another round of To Poke A Dabbler, read recent reviews, and listen to your voicemails. Another jam-packed episode today starting with a radio show that doesn't seem like it's a radio show. TJ and Riggins are two guys who are great at idle small talk for five minutes at a time. They're joined by the once very attractive Lindsay Bloom who is probably a better dancer than a third mic. After listening to some morning shows with too much production and too much going on, this one has the least amount of production we've ever heard. Blind Mike joins the show and is completely unaware that Ashley Graham is way too fat to be a model. Ken Tamplin threatens to sue people for posting negative comments and reviewing his vocal courses. Jerry Banfield does a comedy set that is schizophrenia personified. Aaron Imholte continues to live in a different universe, he gives us an update on his return to radio, and he counts down to the goal pennies at a time. Stuttering John is getting played, he turned on ClayDabbler because of what a fake ClayDabbler and fake The Legend superchatted him. Cardiff and Annie join us for another round of To Poke A Dabbler, a fascinating tease of the next episode, a podcast review, and your voicemails. Jocktober is here! We're checking in on Mojo in the Morning, a Detroit morning show that's been around for over 24 years. Shannon ordered some food from DoorDash and invites the callers to tell her what they have ordered from DoorDash. Riveting! Also, my apologies but Kristine Penrose is shockingly beautiful, look up her Instagram. Andy joins the show to discuss Shannon's fear of mascots, Mojo's foot fetish, and the diversity hire Kev. Planet Mikey is still corny. Ken Tamplin responds to the sing off challenge and Wings of Pegasus is now wondering if Ken is really playing guitar. Steel Toe was disappointed with the donations and quit his show early. I have a brilliant idea for how to monetize his show, let's see if he takes my advice. Tom Myers has some head scratchers. Shuli gets some Juggalos into the Dabbleverse and Stuttering John lost the title to his car in Las Vegas for some reason. Cardiff joins us for another round of To Poke A Dabbler, Annie reads some reviews, and we listen to your voicemails. Trish and Nana are two gay guys who do a show about being two gay guys. Okay, we've seen this before, what's the twist? For some reason it's on Barstool's network. Oh, weird. Nana is confused about sports and sometimes he farts into the microphone. So it's hilarious. Vinnie Paulino joins the show to try to figure out why the Out and About guys don't ever show the videos or images they're reacting to. We finally learn why Frenchie Hana talks the way she does and then we wildly speculate about the details. Ken Tamplin is a guy who teaches you how to sing for the low price of “empty your pockets.” He's done very well with his YouTube channel until two weeks ago when it was discovered he might be a total fraud. Steel Toe is actively gaslighting his audience and coping after Anthony Cumia called him the new Stuttering John. Speaking of John, he watches videos without vetting them first and boy did that backfire on him this week. His cohost, Rob Saul, is a giant POS. Chuck Wright is an American bassist, songwriter, singer, music producer, and live event producer, best known as a long-time member of the multi-platinum Heavy Metal band Quiet Riot. He originally worked with Quiet Riot in 1982, playing bass on the tracks "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)" and "Don't Wanna Let You Go," as well as singing background vocals on all of the tracks from the 1983 multi-platinum album Metal Health. The album spawned the first-ever #1 Metal album on Billboards Hot 100 and changed the fabric of the music as it was known then. Wright's career in mainstream rock first took off when he joined Giuffria in 1984. Their debut album produced the hit single, "Call to the Heart" (Hot 100 #15) in 1985. After sold-out arena tours with Deep Purple and Foreigner, Wright left Giuffria to re-join Quiet Riot in 1986, to record and compose songs for their QRIII release and supporting world tour. His reputation as one of the most sought-after bass players has landed him working alongside music icons Alice Cooper, Slash, Gene Simmons, Gregg Allman, Carmine Appice, Ronnie Montrose, John Waite, and Pat Travers. Wright has appeared on over 100 worldwide record releases, playing bass and producing albums of various styles, including Ambient Trance, Reggae, Rap, Country, and of course Rock. He was also involved in seven film scores, including Kull the Conqueror, where he was joined by Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Over the years, Wright also worked with House Of Lords, Bad Moon Rising, Blackthorne, Christian Tolle Project, Doro, Impellitteri, Kuni, MSG, Magdalen, Murderer's Row, Pata, Stephen Pearcy of Ratt, Adler's Appetite, Love/Hate, Ken Tamplin, and Shane Gibson from Korn and many others. Wright is the creator of Ultimate Jam Night, a long-running bi-monthly live music show established in January 2015 at the Whisky A Go-Go in West Hollywood. Ultimate Jam Night features up to 80 pro musicians each week. Wright also continues to perform live with Legends Of Classic Rock, as well as his Los Angeles eclectic local group Acoustic Saints. He is endorsed by Ampeg, Godin Guitars, S.I.T. Strings, CAD, and Sick Boy Motorcycles.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Kat Von D over Zoom video! Gifted multi-hyphenate Kat Von D shares driving darkwave laced single ‘Enough', the third track from her forthcoming debut album, ‘Love Made Me Do It', due August 27th and available for pre-order now. The pre-order of ‘Love Made Me Do It' includes limited edition signed red vinyl, red cassettes, CD digipack, hoodies with Kat's signature star face tattoos on the hood, custom sketchbooks and much more. Other limited edition colour vinyl variants are also available for retail. Listen to ‘Enough' here - Pre-order ‘Love Made Me Do It' here. ‘Enough' is an ode to lost lovers in which Kat continues exploring the darkest angles of an unhealthy relationship. The new cut follows on recently released singles, the vulnerable synthwave slow jam, ‘I Am Nothing', which found the talented artist at her most intimate and vulnerable, and the debut single ‘Exorcism' - defined by Billboard as “a darkwave bop about love, loss and change” - which unveiled the album's recurring theme, in Kat's own words; “‘Love Made Me Do It' is a collection of all my hopeless romantic thoughts poured into one album.” Talking to American Songwriter, Kat revealed; “it's being able to dip into those feelings of codependency or craziness but not actually live in it. Although most of the songs were written during a time of depression, that's definitely not where I want to live, but there's a beauty and vulnerability and a strength to that as well. I'm not ashamed of writing out my faults. I'm so full of them.” Talking about the new single, Kat reveals; “It was written by Chris Brenner, Danny Lohner from Nine Inch Nails introduced us. They'd actually worked on the song together, but they'd never done anything with it. It's one of only two songs I didn't write on the album. When I talked to Chris about it, he said, ‘That was my big breakup song'. The intro lyrics are, ‘Dove down to the bottom of the dark blue sea searching for any traces that are left of me'. I love that idea. You tend to lose yourself in relationships—good and bad. You're reflecting on your part and why you stuck around. It attests to our willingness to stay in shitty relationships.” ‘Love Made Me Do It' sits at the core of Kat's universe, proving that music is her first and strongest passion. Having been a classically trained pianist since her youth with a deep appreciation for music of all genres, Kat poured her soul into this long-awaited full-length debut album. The project features collaborators including Dave Grohl, Linda Perry, Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio), Peter Murphy (Bauhaus), Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails), Ladyhawke and Charo. Long before the history-making tattoos, ubiquitous television shows, best-selling books and an influential beauty empire, Kat Von D sat down at a piano for nearly two hours a day and played. In essence, music became her first creative language and most trusted outlet. Classical training and a deep appreciation for music of all genres essentially underscored her life. She studied voice under Ken Tamplin six days per week, strengthening her vocals. In 2012, she began writing with GRAMMY® Award-nominated Linda Perry. Following this experience, Kat continued to write on her own, sitting at the piano and summoning songs from raw emotion. During 2014, she retreated to London to record the original mix of what would become her full-length debut album ‘Love Made Me Do It' (KVD/Kartel Music Group) before cementing it with her band – Gregg Foreman AKA Mr. Pharmacist (synth 1/Cat Power, The Gossip), Sammi Doll (synth 2/IAMX), Dave Parley (drums/Prayers), and Brynn Route (contortionist). They moved into a bungalow cottage on her property, lived together, and finished the record. Capping off the process, Dan Haigh of Gunship handled mixing. A pastiche of shapeshifting analog synths, post-punk dreamscapes, gothic hues, and shy pop magnetism, these eleven songs echo the eternal will of the perennially brokenhearted to love until death.

Jenn Foster and Melanie Johnson speak with True Tamplin about his book Raising an Executive: Igniting Your Son’s Inner Executive To Outperform His Peers and Continue Your Legacy. At age 13, True’s father, Ken Tamplin was offered to be the lead singer for Journey. Despite desperately needing the money, the 5-year touring contract was too great a sacrifice. He turned the offer down, and now True has checked every box an executive would want for his son: giving his grad speech, covering The Daily Pilot, garnering a full-ride to his school of choice, maintaining Suma Cum Laude 4.0 GPA, marrying the girl of his dreams, running a successful Analytics and Online Marketing company, and writing an Amazon #1 Bestseller, all by the age of 22. True is utterly convinced that none of his early successes would have come had his father accepted the Journey contract. Now True’s story has become his plea to fight for executives to spend more time with their sons. True has gone on to become a CEO coach and has created the Raising An Executive mentorship program for their sons to one day outdo their fathers.

Part two features music from Shout’s second album In Your Face – Frontline Rewind host Les Carlsen exclaims, “These are the best tour stories I’ve heardâ€, as he continues an interview with original Shout members, Chuck King (in person) and “virtual†Ken Tamplin (in Hawaii). Listeners are entertained with topics like: stolen clothes from a dressing room, speeding tickets in every state, train stop in the middle of Germany demanding money or else, and a 26-foot long sandwich Ken gave to KLOS radio to get music played. Ken’s eating habits were the cause of many awkward situations. Chuck states that Ken needed to eat every 15 minutes –“like a duck.†Ken’s need to stop landed the long-haired rockers in Grandma’s Southern Cooking (Grandma is not the image one would expect) and trapped them in the middle of a tornado while stopping at a “choke and puke†diner in Pennsylvania. The guys laughingly credit Frontline Records as the reason for the stories. If a tour budget had been provided, they wouldn’t have been speeding from state to state in a broken down van, struggling to pay transportation and food costs. Rockin’ tracks from It Won’t Be Long and In Your Face are weaved in between stories. Pure entertainment!
Part one features music from Shout’s debut album It Won’t Be Long. – In Frontline Records Rewind Episode 70, host Les Carlsen gets together with Shout member, Chuck King, in person and “virtual†Ken Tamplin from his home in Hawaii. The guys share wild tour stories and insights about songs they co-wrote for albums, It Won’t Be Long and In Your Face. Contemporary Christian rock music fans might recall that Chuck was originally the guitarist for Frontline artist, Idle Cure. Listeners hear how Chuck and Ken met. (Includes Ken hawking equipment through Recycler in order to eat.) They ended up forming a new group and signing a contract with Frontline. We learn of Ken’s decision to turn down a very lucrative secular band to honor his commitment with Frontline. Shout recordings often featured guitar solos by Frontline artist, Lanny Cordola (House of Lords, Magdallen), who started giving Ken guitar lessons at age 16. Ken shares a humorous story of this early time with Lanny and how they developed as friends. Listen to his crazy solo on the hit song, “Shoutâ€.
