Let me start with this: this is a dream interview. If, like me, you spent a lot of time in the 2000s and 2010s reading about celebrity online, Go Fug Yourself was an essential part of your online diet. Heather and Jessica were simply unrivaled when it came to celebrity fashion in general and red carpet fashion in particular. I idolized them the same way I idolized Lainey Gossip — both of whom I read alongside all of my graduate texts in star studies. The problem with those star studies is that they were always rooted in the past. But The Fug Girls and Lainey, they were doing the analysis now, on celebs who were desperately (and often unsuccessfully) attempting to navigate the new, digital gossip landscape — and that's how they became part of my dissertation, on the history of celebrity gossip, themselves. That's why it's such an absolute f-ing treat to talk to Heather and Jessica about the present and future of celebrity gossip: they have the context. They know the history. We talk about Deuxmoi, sourcing, blinds, accounting for past shittiness, so much. Melody had to jump in like 17 times to make us explain various peak 2000s gossip terms here, so if you were part of that universe (HELLO, TOOTHY TILE) you will love this episode — but if you weren't, and you just appreciate an introspective look at how celebrity discourse works, you'll love this, too (in part because Melody made us explain stuff, she's the best). Note: This episode was recorded just before the Blake Lively/New York Times bombshell so don't get mad that we don't mention it!! What a Creep“Coyote V. Acme Controversy”Season 24, Episode 4In February 1980, The New Yorker magazine published a satire called "Coyote V. Acme" written by Ian Frazier. The story was about Wile E. Coyote suing Acme, the company that supplied him with the equipment he used to try and catch the Road Runner, for all his injuries over the years. In 1987, the success of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" led to the combination of animation and live actors in this story. However, it wasn't until the 2020s that Warner Brothers hired writer Samy Burch and director Dave Green to bring the project to life. The film was completed in 2022, but now the parent company refuses to release it and instead writes it off for tax purposes. Despite considering other outlets, the $75 million price tag makes it unlikely that Warner Brothers will negotiate another deal. The film's controversy-causing release has caused a media storm. Lipreading has been in the news this month, thanks to gossip-stoking mouth movements at the Golden Globes that the amateur lipreaders of The Internet rushed to interpret. Ann Rohmer is with Patrice Barnes, PA to The Minister of Education about the province's plan to strengthen reading, writing, math & STEM disciplines, refocus school boards on academic achievement and life/job skills. Glynn Perkins discusses a recent survey that was conducted on behalf of CAA Insurance Company that found a growing number of Ontarians have significant concerns about vehicle theft. The findings indicate that almost half of respondents (47 per cent) are very concerned about auto theft. That number increases to 57 per cent for those living in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Kevin Frankish looks into a recent survey of more than 1,140 workers in Canada where 41 per cent are either already looking, or plan to look for a new job, before the end of the year. Jim Lang has details on a new TD survey which has found that nearly three-in-five (58 per cent) of Canadian parents frequently worry about their child's financial future. Additionally, only 35 per cent feel their kids are prepared to avoid the same financial challenges they encountered when they were young. Ann Rohmer looks at a unique *cat's only* vet clinic that just opened in the GTA that has state of the art treatment geared solely toward felines and with a well thought out and heavily researched kitty care based on their behavioural needs. Shaliza Bacchus is with Sarah Marrs from LaineyGossip about the massive impact of the Barbie movie
Hey Decoding TV,David Chen here. Justified is a show that's dear to my heart, so when I heard that they were going to be rebooting it for the streaming era, I was…apprehensive? Justified was one of the few shows that was not only enjoyable throughout its entire run, but also stuck the landing after six seasons. With the first two episodes of Justified: City Primeval hitting Hulu and FX this week, will the reboot bring the show into the modern era, or just become proof that with some great shows, you should leave well enough alone? I'm not sure, but we're going to find out together!Joining me for weekly recaps and reviews of Justified: City Primeval is Sarah Marrs. Sarah is the deputy editor of Lainey Gossip and her work has appeared at Decider and Pajiba. But she's also one of the biggest Justified fans I'm aware of, having watched the entire run of the show many times. I'm so thrilled she'll be joining us to share her love and expertise of Justified! In this preview episode, we discuss what we love about the original Justified, recap the biggest story beats of the show that might be relevant for newcomers, share how we feel about the reboot, and speculate on what we might see on Justified: City Primeval. Justified: City Primeval will premiere tomorrow (July 18th) with its first two episodes, then air weekly. You should expect a weekly recap within 1-2 days of when each episode airs.Your paid contributions at DecodingTV.com help me to fund this podcast and keep it going. In the early 2000s, Mario Lavandeira Jr., better known as Perez Hilton, was the self-proclaimed "Queen of all Media." His celebrity gossip blog pulled in $50,000 a week in 2007, and Hollywood's A-listers dreaded being featured on his site. He was friends with Lady GaGa and Paris Hilton (the inspiration behind his pseudonym), had offers for his own TV shows on VH1, and guest appearances on countless celebrity news shows. He shot to fame at just the right time, blogs were new and celebrities were badly behaved. His mean-girl name calling and 3rd-grade photo editing skills were as much a feature of his blog as the celebrities he covered. But the culture started to shift and Perez Hilton, Queen of dirty laundry, found himself having to clean-up his act or be canceled. The same is true for Elaine Lui, founder of Lainey Gossip, another famous website from the early 2000s that was known for its cruel humor. Elaine has apologized for her past remarks and has made an effort to "do better." Has she? What does she share in common with Perez Hilton and where do they differ? The Apologists bring you all the latest breaking news on celebrity bloggers who have found out the hard way that being mean might pay but Karma is indeed a b*tch.

Mahsa and guest co-host Mahan grew up in the Britney Spears era where she ruled all. You either wanted to be with her, or you wanted to be her best friend. We saw her explosive rise to fame in the 1998 release of bop 'Baby One More Time,' where she became unquestionably one of the world's biggest stars, and girls everywhere were tying up their shirts and midriffs became a thing. But, as paparazzi became more aggressive and her mental health turned into punchlines, the one's closest to her started selling her out, and the public unraveling of her carefully curated image began. We deep-dive the New York Time's documentary Framing Britney Spears, chronicling her rise and fall from grace through a 2021 lens. Were we all complicit in her mental health struggles? Is it time for her 12 year conservatorship to come to an end? And yes, we debate the merits of Justin Timberlake (spoiler alert, we aren't fans). We discuss all this and more. #FreeBritneyFollow along and let us know what you think on Instagram @haveyouheardpodcastSources:Framing Britney Spears (The New York Times)

Before we dive into your questions Lainey thought it would be appropriate to tell all of you how much better of a friend she is compared to me. I hope this gives you insight into what I deal with. Then she of course haddddddd to bring up the time I confused her with her 70 year old father. In my defense, please look at the evidence below. Come on? Could you tell that's her? (visit Laineygossip.com for picture)Ok then it's on to your drama! First up, we get an update from Destinee. She wrote in a couple of weeks ago about her mother-in-law. Remember? (Link to that episode) She was the one who wanted to axe her MIL out of ever coming to her house. Well, I guess she thought our advice was sh-t and is back to give us more of a backstory. Then it's on to "Emily". She is in a long distance relationship and is not feeling the extra weight her partner has put on during COVID. We look into this relationship a bit deeper to see if there is anything else that might be causing her to feel this way about her partner. Finally, we end on "Jennifer". We are taking off July 6th from the podcast. I’ll Zoom with anyone who gives us a nice review, just email me at info-at-celebitchy.com. Royals: Minutes 5:15 to 25 Jessica Mulroney threatened influencer Sasha Exeter after Sasha made a general callout asking people to support Black Lives Matter. Jessica got fired from her reality show, she’s no longer an expert on other shows and a bunch of sponsors dropped her. This wouldn’t be such a big story if Jessica wasn’t a close friend of Duchess Meghan. We’ve all had troublesome friends and don’t think it’s fair to blame Meghan for Jessica’s behavior. I play a segment from our Zoom meeting where we talk about female friendships. Minute 13: Lainey at Lainey Gossip wrote an article about her hesitation to speak out about Jessica Mulroney. Lainey works on CTV’s eTalk with Jessica’s husband, Ben Mulroney. She revealed that the Mulroneys have been threatening people who aren’t taking Jessica’s side. Minute 14:35: The Queen had the Trooping the Color parade despite the pandemic and the fact that protests were raging throughout London. The Queen has only given one speech about the pandemic and hasn’t said one thing about Black Lives Matter. She didn’t wear a mask during the parade and none of the British royals have been wearing them. Minute 16:45: Prince Andrew is asking the Department of Justice to apologize to him. It seems like he’s only offered a written witness statement and is throwing a fit at the idea that they’re asking him to sit for an interview. There’s a huge difference between the way the British press treats Andrew, who is complicit in crimes, to the way they treat Duchess Meghan for just existing. I play a segment from the Zoom meeting where we talk about the fact that Prince Andrew still lives in a mansion and gets his security fully paid while Harry and Meghan are being made to rent Frogmore for £18,000 a month. Minute 20:45: Kristen Stewart has been cast as Princess Diana in a biopic by Pablo Larrain, who directed Natalie Portman in Jackie. Chandra doesn’t think Kristen will be awful in the role and that it could be watchable. I play a segment from Zoom where we talk about Kristen Stewart playing Diana. Officer McMuffin: Minutes 25:00 to 29:30 We saw Deputy Karen McMuffin crying over the fact that her McMuffin was late. In follow up interviews she doubled down and didn’t apologize. Cops in New York claimed Shake Shack tried to poison them because their milkshakes tasted funny, but it wasn't deliberate and was just the cleaning solution used on the machine. User Feedback: Minutes 29:30 to 30:15 Thank you to duchess of hazard, LaUnicaAngelina and JeJoKo for your kind comments. Comments of the Week: Minutes 30:15 to 34 My comment of the week is from Darla on the post about people buying 30% more processed food. Chandra’s comments of the week are from Samc and Miranda on the post about cops getting “poisoned” with milkshakes. Thanks for listening bitches! Text us or leave a voicemail at 434-218-3219.

The word ‘gossip’ has become a rather negative term for sharing stories a person has heard with other people. When you hear the word, you think of celebrities, neighborhood scandals, and maybe someone in the office who is being a little naughtier than usual. However, gossiping may have a place in a team or organizational setting. How can gossip be a useful tool? Is there a good time and place to gossip? What does gossiping have to do with leading? In today’s episode, I share some of the key reasons why I believe good leaders should gossip. I discuss a few example scenarios where gossip is beneficial. I explain why gossiping is in our nature as social animals and how gossiping helps bring people together. I also describe how gossiping had personally benefited my social life, both in and outside of work, especially when I was part of a dragon boat team. “Gossip is a form of social bonding.” - Marguerite O’Neal Today on the Creative Disruption Podcast: Why I think leaders should gossip more. The benefits of gossip in workplaces. Why gossiping is not inherently hateful. The social and intimate benefits of gossiping. How gossiping has made me feel loved and accepted. The Toronto Raptors are champions. Thursday night in Toronto was magical. In the sixth game of the NBA Championship Finals, the Toronto Raptors won 114-110, beating out the Golden State Warriors to win the Raptors' first championship in franchise history. The Raptors win. That’s it. That’s the podcast. We'll talk to Jeff Semple from Global News. He was at the Oracle Arena as time ticked down on a historic night. We also check in with Vivek Jacob, an editor at Yahoo Sports Canada, and we connect with Kathleen Newman-Bremang, a staff writer for Refinery 29 and contributor to Lainey Gossip and a Raptors superfan.

This week: Constance Wu's outburst after 'Fresh Off The Boat' was renewed last week, and her iNotes written 'apology', wound up doubling down on what people took issue with in the first place -- but is this a mistake she can recover from? And if not, is there a double standard about why not? Also, Charlize Theron is a celebrated Oscar-winning actress, but what happens when a role demands you do something you have no idea how to? “The Long Night” episode of Game of Thrones had a lot of people talking…and squinting. We unpack the work behind the look of the show and the tech that goes into it and we share our thoughts on what was lost in the darkness. From there we get into Chaos Walking, the film featuring two superstars that is over-budget and delayed – and who gets to claim the privilege of making an “unreleasable” movie. This week's episode is a near religious experience as Taylor Jenkins Reid, author of NYT bestseller 'Daisy Jones & The Six' tells us why men's interest in her work doesn't interest her, why ambition must be bigger than talent, and why being 'selfish' about the time she takes for work is her biggest struggle -- and the reason for her success. Our delicious (and fast-paced!) conversation with Joe Zee, one of the original disruptors in Fashion, Magazines, & Television, dives into his favourite topic -- work! In the first of two incredible episodes, we get granular about his smash Netflix series, 7 Days Out (and why 'Cassini' was the key to everything else), why 'workaholic' is one of the biggest compliments he can think of, and what he's learned about turning a failure into a launchpad - plus, the secret place he always looks to find the story nobody else is telling.Catch us weekly on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Pandora, or wherever you get your podcasts, hit us up on twitter at @laineygossip and @duanaelise, and as always visit LaineyGossip.com for more pop culture insight and analysis.
