The ever-evolving landscape of business, finance, entertainment, and medicine is often shaped by technological advancements and cultural changes. However, those in power during these changes often resist them and try to maintain their grip on the status quo, particularly if family is involved. This is exemplified in the TV show "Succession" and James B. Stewart's books, including "Disney Wars," "Den of Thieves," "Deep State," "Tangled Webs," and "Blood Sport." The pandemic was a transformational event for the entertainment industry, but the #MeToo movement was also a catalyst for change, with Harvey Weinstein as its poster child. Additionally, the theatrical movie business faced pressure from the ongoing streaming wars, which have altered the fabric of Hollywood. All of these forces come together in the story of Sumner Redstone, his family, and his mistresses. Redstone was a one-time movie theater magnate and the owner of Paramount, Viacom, CBS, and Simon and Schuster. In his 90s, he was surrounded by hangers-on, adversaries, family members, and a group of women whose experiences highlighted the worst of Hollywood, even in modern times. When you add the worst of corporate governance to the mix, you have the story that James B. Stewart and Rachel Abrams tell in "   My conversation with James Stewart and Rachel Abrams:

I sit down today with AK Ikwuakor who does a lot of different things (just like me). He is an entrepreneur, consultant, founder of Coach AK enterprise, former Top 10 world-ranked athlete from the University of Oregon, and a start up coach at Google for Startups. We start our talk about how mindset affects a person's decision and actions towards different situations. He emphasizes how to correctly use and apply the various thoughts that keep popping into making decisions. There's also one thing AK mentions how to make a change in one's life aside from having consistent motivation. AK tells me before he became a speaker that he was afraid of public speaking because he thinks he might commit a mistake. Time passed by and he realized this one thing that made him recover from his fears and performed his best speech. He also shares with me how someone can recover from fears and react to unexpected situations. When he once experienced a canceled event, that's when he looked into another direction which gives a valuable result. As he has been helping a lot of people, I ask him what are his reasons behind it. So hit the play button to hear more from AK.

Meredith Walker has deep roots in Texas, but her career and life passions have taken her all over the world. It's an unscripted pathway that she wants to encourage other young women to consider. “If you think you're allowed to try a lot of things, then you'll try a lot of things. But if you feel like this is what's acceptable, you'll kind of stay there.” Walker got her feet wet working with acclaimed journalist Linda Ellerbee and Nick News. Rising from intern to producer at warp speed, she traveled the U.S. interviewing children for the Peabody and Emmy award-winning series. When an opportunity to join Saturday Night Live presented itself, she jumped on it. Head of Talent for SNL was an exhilarating experience and also where she met actress, best friend, and long time collaborator Amy Poehler. Through their shared experiences, the pair recognized a gap in content for young girls. What started as an online “clubhouse” primarily for girls has evolved to become an inclusive, positive online community for anyone who identifies with its mission of positive self-identification and advocacy. Walker travels to promote that mission for Smart Girls and beyond. She served as the journalism envoy for the U.S. State Department Bureau of Culture and Education's mission to the Al Za'atari and Emirates Refugee Camps and visited remote primary-care clinics on delegations to Haiti and Malawi. Her new interview series, Life Unscripted with Meredith Walker on Nelda TV builds upon the same premise of filling a gap in important content by telling the stories of interesting and dynamic women. Says Walker, “They've reached a place where they're not letting society define who they are or what success means for them.” Living “unscripted” is a maxim she has embraced herself. “It's been an interesting and winding journey. I had a sense of the kind of person I wanted to be in the world. I had no idea how I would get there. I'm just so glad I made it.” Her advice—“The way that you ‘unscript' your life is, first of all, understanding the difference between what other's expectations are and what you really want.”

Specifically, those ingrained beliefs that though they may not hold water when challenged continue to dominate our lives by domination our thoughts which turns into actions or “inaction” and that bleeds into accomplishments or lack of and that turns into another loop. I hope you pull a nugget from it that helps your reach the goals you’ve been visioning. Follow Hayden on Instagram:

Balancing your new business with your existing relationship shouldn't be hard... but sometimes it is. You need to focus on not only building your business but also maintaining love and respect at home. Anna Osborn joins me to talk about how you nurture your relationship alongside your business, so nothing is neglected. Anna is a family and relationship therapist who loves to talk about running her own business. In Anna’s own words, she knows the delicate balance prioritizing the most important relationship in your life takes when you own your own business. And when you’re feeling happy in your partnership, that spills over into your business, as well. Before we talk about relationships, Anna gives some insight into starting your own business. Many people are terrified of taking that first step, but it’s all about changing your perspective on fear. In fact, it’s the actual act of “doing the thing” that breeds new confidence within you. Bringing a new business into your partnership is almost like bringing a new child in. Your business needs love, attention, and devotion, much the same as a kid would. This is why it’s important to communicate even more with your partner about how they feel about your new business and to resist the urge to keep the details of your business away from them. It comes down to establishing - and sticking to - healthy boundaries. If you say you’re going to do something, do it! Because if you don’t, you’ve broken a bond of trust with your partner.  But what happens when your partner just doesn’t support your new venture at all? Either you need to find some outside business support or start thinking about what takes priority in your life: your partnership or your business. A small caveat: don’t be afraid to seek out relationship counseling if this is something you want to work through together. Does your partner support your new business? How do you set healthy boundaries with your business and relationship? Do you talk to your partner about your business? In This Episode: How you can change your perspective on fear Where confidence is found What happens when you bring a new business into your relationship Why communication becomes even more important when you start a new business How you can draw healthy boundaries between your work and your relationship How you can become a better business owner by having a happy home life Why you need to find someone to support you through your business Quotes: “I want my kids to know that it’s okay to be afraid and still go forward. That the confidence we get from doing things is because we did it, not because we had the confidence beforehand.” (6:22) “Don’t set a boundary that you’re not going to maintain, because what that does is break down trust.” (19:39) “Knowing there’s always things needing to be done and, in this moment, we need to align our priorities with how we’re spending our time.”(21:28) Links Join the 7 Day Relationship Challenge Find Anna Osborn Online Follow Anna on Twitter | Facebook | Pinterest   Join From Side Hustle to CEO on Facebook Keep up with everything Women In Business Follow me, Dr. Cortney Baker on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | LinkedIn KidsCare Home Health   Are you a female millennial entrepreneur who wants to start or scale your service-based business but not sure where to start? She believes that your primary relationship can your greatest tool or greatest barrier to success. Business Building InsightsDon’t let your fear make decisions for you. Look at fear in the eye and continue walking. The more we become comfortable with the full version of ourselves, the more we crave it. Relationships thrive with safety and stability. When it comes to communication, the closer you get to soft emotions and stay out of the noise in terms of frustration, the more authentic a conversation you’ll have. Be clear about what you need from your partner when starting a conversation so you can ask for it and set your expectation from the beginning. Timing is important when presenting a serious topic. Make sure to invite and gain agreement from your partner into the discussion. Or respect their need for it to be another time. Let your partner have their own feelings and be cautious about how you’re interpreting those feelings. The only reflect how they feel about the topic, not about you overall. Our greatest need in a relationship is to be seen and heard. Actress and triple threat Cree Davis will portray Janet Jackson in BET's highly-anticipated two-night television movie event THE BOBBY BROWN STORY premiering September 4 and 5 at 9 PM ET/PT.Cree took on the task of honestly portraying the scenes between Jackson and Brown. Unafraid of a dramatic challenge, Cree's professional training allowed her to tap into a vulnerable side of her persona, stretching far beyond where she had taken her craft before. In the crowded world of entertainment, Cree Davis stands out as a contemporary versatile actress, a talented singer and an agile dancer. She taps into her training to bring to life the rarely told story of the relationship between Brown and the iconic Janet Jackson. As an artist I play a role, bringing as much authenticity to the role as is artistically and professionally possible. Think Denzel in "Training Day and Denzel and "He Got Game" or the "Book of Eli" If an actor plays the role well, you believe he IS the character," Cree said.THE BOBBY BROWN STORY" will pick up where the New Edition miniseries left off. It will chronicle the artist hailed as the "King of R&B's" exit from the popular '80s boy band through his solo success, and tabloid-fodder marriage to pop icon Whitney Houston. Spanning 30 years of Brown's life, the new project follows his story from the hard streets of Roxbury before being given the chance to prove himself as a solo artist. Written by Abdul Williams, executive produced by Jesse Collins and directed by Kiel Adrian Scott."As a singer songwriter, this talented Atlanta transplant was so inspired by the film, THE BOBBY BROWN STORY, that she crafted a response to Bobby Brown's chart-topping "Tenderoni." Her track, "Only Girl," produced by Kevin 'Khao' Cates, Multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated Music Producer, is the female response to the song. "Only Girl" will be released on September 4th.Ask anyone about Cree and they will say that she "brings the light" into any room she enters. Cree is all about love; it's evident in her conversation and the way she lives her life.Cree uses her talent to create a platform to help improve communities and encourage people to love on all levels and dream big.Watch Cree in a scene from the movie here: Cree is currently compiling songs for "Love Levels," an album whose early release of "Like You" is an ode to love on all levels. The song, "LIKE YOU," is now streaming on iTunes, Apple Music, Tidal and other music streaming locations. For the video, Cree brought her dance talent to the forefront; her dance training is evident as she skillfully extends and twirls on rich, red silk while floating mid-air, reminiscent of Cirque de Soleil.Cree is also the visionary behind the "Only Girl Movement," an initiative focused on girls and women loving and respecting themselves, each other and their committed relationships and the "Unconditional Love Movement," that inspires everyone to love unconditionally. Something magical happens when people gather together in the same space.  Something that can’t happen in online gathering spaces in quite the same way.  Gatherings take many forms: Retreats, workshops, conferences.  Walk-outs, protests, sit-ins.  Tea parties, play groups, picnics.  But the one unifier is that buzz, the energy, that each person feels when they’re there.  A buzz they’ll each carry with them long after.   That’s what I’m talking about with this week’s guest, Lizzy Russinko of The Brave Gatherers and A Life Unscripted.  Lizzy is a bold change maker.  A hand lettering artist, an activist, and a community gathering creator.  She literally makes space for transformation and connection.  Lizzy creates amazing retreats and also guides other message-driven, soulful business owners who want to make intimate in-person gatherings a part of what they offer in business too.   In this episode, Lizzy and I discuss:   How organizing movements and disruptions became a foundational experience for Lizzy and showed her that something powerful happens when people gather together. Journaling, word making, accepting our weirdness, and the impulse to share. Where the real, magical, vibrational energy that amazing retreats create comes from. What in-person conversations can do that internet communities can’t. How motherhood has fed and informed the trajectory of Lizzy’s business. What it means to have conversations that matter. The role of vision boards and creative action in what we do. Creating a safe container for community and what happens to that community after the retreat. What you, as someone who creates in-person gatherings, communicate to the world about who you are and how this can resonate deeply with others. What happens when you make every single guest feel valued and an essential part of the experience from start to finish. What you need to know about yourself before you ever begin planning a gathering. In our FINAL meet-the-host episode, we're so glad to get to know deep-thinker Shannon Evans. Shannon shares about loneliness, special needs parenting, and what drew her to Catholicism. A former evangelical missionary turned unlikely Catholic, Shannon has lived with a squatty potty in Indonesia + raised a family in a community house in Texas. These days she and her husband Eric can be found searching for the upside down kingdom in small town Iowa while hosing mud off their three little boys. Lori Harris and Kristi James lead this conversation with Shannon.Support the show (http://www.patreon.com/upsidedownpodcast)

We continue our interview series with host Kristi James. Kristi is a work-at-home writer and editor, as well as a church planter's wife and mom to three little girls. Kristi shares about the time (last year) she fell over trying out some sweet dance moves during mini-golf, and the real reason she avoided writing classes in college. She and her family moved to Asheville, NC to plant their church in 2011, and in this episode she shares about how she approaches reading scripture when it feels a little dry, how she landed her dream job, and what keeps her up at night. You can find her on her BRAND NEW blog at www.kristenannjames.com. Kayla Craig and Lindsy Wallace co-host and interview Kristi in this episode.Support the show (http://www.patreon.com/upsidedownpodcast)

In this episode, we laugh about her accidental first date with her now-husband, whom she met in drama class in high school. We loved their engagement story and cracked up at the fact that they're BOTH ENFPs. Lindsy Wallace and Kristi James co-host this fun episode that dives into faith, motherhood, and owning your fifth-grade awkwardness.Support the show (http://www.patreon.com/upsidedownpodcast)

In this episode, we get to know Lindsy Wallace. She loves Jesus, her husband, their five kids, hot tea, hiking in the woods, and good tattoos. Her family lives in Miami where they seek to bring the Kingdom come to the inner-city as it is in Heaven. When she’s not homeschooling her kids or getting to know her neighbors, she writes about faith, justice, race and more on her blog lightbreaksforth.com.Support the show (http://www.patreon.com/upsidedownpodcast)

Zach has always lived a life unscripted, chasing adventure and longing to travel this world's far corners. A diagnosis with Type 1 Diabetes in 2013 did little to dampen his spirit. Though diabetes can be physically and emotionally demanding, Zach refuses to be held back by his diagnosis and continues to travel, chasing waves, following bands and living life on his own terms. Through Travelbetic, Zach hopes to challenge the stereotypes about type 1 diabetes and inspire others to overcome life's obstacles and lead a healthy life through travel and adventure as well as raise awareness about type 1 diabetes and debunk common myths surrounding the disease.  Through his blog, Travelbetic.com, Zach challenges common misconceptions about the limitations diabetes places on an individual and offers encouragement and tips for other diabetics to get out into the world and challenge themselves and their personal limits. Zach believes adventure has a healing power far greater than any traditional medicine. Adventure trains us to expect and accept mishaps and manage risk, it teaches us that shortcomings and tremendous challenges are inevitable and helps us to feel less victimized by our situation.  http://travelbetic.com/ https://www.generosity.com/medical-fundraising/miles-for-vials-bike-ride-for-t1international
