Sending a message in a bottle has been romanticized for centuries. People have even cast bottles for scientific purposes. And as author B.J. Hollars tells us, it helped one Wisconsin veteran connect with humanity on a deeper level. Hollars shared this story about a message in a bottle at a live storytelling event hosted by Wisconsin Public Radio’s “Wisconsin Life” and the Chippewa Valley Writers Guild. It was held on Nov. 14, 2024 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin at The Lakely.

Give online therapy a try at betterhelp.com/BENEATH and get on your way to being your best self.” ** When screen legend GENA ROWLANDS passed away last month at the age of 94, she left behind a film and TV legacy that will undoubtedly influence artists for decades to come. She was an acting titan who changed the way modern audiences looked at acting. From her historic independent movies with husband JOHN CASSAVETES to mainstream Hollywood to powerful performances in iconic television films, Rowlands' performances were always honest, complicated, and emotionally raw. This week, grab your floaties and join us as we tackle two major topics that affect every mom out there: Swim Safety for Kiddos and the dreaded CURSE of Cellulite. First up, Miranda will splash into the topic of swim safety because, let's face it, toddlers are like mini Aquamen and Aquawomen. They're fearless when it comes to water, which simultaneously gives us heart attacks and makes us super proud. We'll share tips, tricks, and probably some hilarious fails from our own poolside adventures. Then, Mel wades into the deep (no pun intended) waters of cellulite—the not-so-pretty reality that no amount of kale smoothies seem to fix. We'll laugh about the weird creams we've tried, the moments we've caught our reflection and thought, “Did a waffle iron attack my thigh?” And best of all, Mel will share some legit tips on how to embrace those tiger stripes because, let's be honest, they're a part of us now. So, grab your headphones (and maybe a glass of wine, because we're keeping it real), and join us for this episode that promises to be equal parts informative, hilarious, and, of course, relatable AF. Because in this journey called motherhood, laughter truly is the best swim safety device and the most effective anti-cellulite treatment. See you in the deep end! We are nearing the end of our Freedom Theme and this week we are covering an old favorite, Hope Floats. It stars Sandra Bullock as Birdie, a woman who is blindsided by her husband's affair. She moves back to her hometown and reunites with an old beau Justin, played by Harry Connick Jr. but things are too complicated for a new relationship, or are they? In this episode we contemplate if long forehead kisses count as 'fore-head play', wonder if bedazzled saddles as light fixtures should be a thing and accuse Oprah of trying to penetrate our minds with too many 'A-ha' moments. It's another unintentional crossover episode, which gets our temperatures rising along with this July heat. But our temperatures can keep the Hope up there company, cause we all know that Hope Floats.

There's NOTHING easy about losing a family member. That heartbreak must be magnified exponentially when it comes to losing a child. In Charlotte, families who do suffer this life-altering event don't have to go it alone. Since 1978, KinderMourn has helped bereaved parents, grieving children and teens by offering support and counseling programs, creating awareness of bereavement issues and empowering the community to assist those who have suffered though this loss. One of the many ways they bring their message and mission to the greater community is through the annual “Hope Floats” duck race. To tell us all about it, we have Katy Ryan, KinderMourn's Executive Director, and KinderMourn parent, Kelly Burton.
What makes a great love song? By chatting about our favourites maybe we can find the common elements. We were inspired by recording our 69th episode in the middle of February which felt like the right convergence of events to talk about songs that express a sentiment of love. Not lust. Not fleeting moments of teenage attraction. Not a rendezvous at the local discotheque. Long lasting, true, heartfelt, dedicated love. But also the pang of love lost - or true love yet to come to fruition. Jonelle Mosser has worked with some of the most amazing talent in the music business. Industry veterans such as B.B. King, Trisha Yearwood, Etta James, Wynonna Judd, Rodney Crowell, Vince Gill, Waylon Jennings, Patty Smyth, AJ Croce, Levon Helm and Bruce Cockburn, have shared the stage or the studio with her. Jonelle has also worked on numerous solo projects over the span of her career, beginning in 1996 with her compilation album of Texas singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt, whom she first met in 1978. That debut album was a 1996 compilation of Townes covers called "Around Townes”. That particular project brought her to the attention of Bonnie Raitt producer Don Was. Don was so supportive that he soon put a band together with Jonell as lead singer. He rounded up A-listers such as guitarist Mark Goldenberg from Jackson Browne's band, keyboardist Benmont Tench from Tom Petty's Heartbreakers, and Beatles drummer Ringo Starr. They recorded 7 songs and were named the New Maroons. They played Farm Aid in Ames IA, but the recordings were shelved because other projects took precedence. Jonelle did go on to record a rendition of the Supremes' "Stop in the Name of Love”, which later landed on the soundtrack to the 1998 film "Hope Floats”, starring Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr. She's currently working on new projects, hoping to release them in 2023. www.jonellemosser.com The Business Side of Music ™ © 2022 Lotta Dogs Productions LLC Showrunner and Executive Producer Emeritus: Tom Sabella Producer and Host (the guy who has a face for podcasting): Bob Bender Management Representation: Chuck Thompson for Thompson Entertainment Group, LLC Co-Producer - Audio/Video Editor (the man behind the curtain): Mark Sabella Director of Video and Continuity (the brains of the entire operation): Deborah Halle Marketing and Social Media (all knowing): Sarah Fleshner for 362 Entertainment All Around Problem Solver (and Mental Health Therapist for us): Connie Ribas Recorded inside what could be an old beat up Airstream Trailer located somewhere on what's left of Music Row in Nashville TN (Man we sure do miss Noshville, and the Longhorn Steakhouse) Mixed and Mastered at Music Dog Studios in Nashville, TN Editing and Post at Midnight Express Studio located in Olian, NY Production Sound Design: Keith Stark Voice Over and Promo: Lisa Fuson Special Thanks to the creator and founder of the podcast, Tom Sabella, along with Traci Snow for producing and hosting over 100 episodes of the original "Business Side of Music" podcast and trusting us to carry on their legacy. When we think of loss--of the grief we suffer from it, we don't typically see grief as a strength. Grief can either consume us or be used to shatter our fears and sadness and teach us a strength we never knew we had in us. In this episode we talk about the obstacles of moving through grief- the understanding and patience that is needed. Seeing the hope that floats up through our grief is a powerful tool, and our guest Dan Fischer talks about how he used his grief to find new hope and to honor his late father by giving him one last wave. That led to an amazing project that is now helping thousands of people across the globe move through their own grief to heal and find new hope in their own journeys. **movie discussion (Hope Floats with Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr.) Season Sponsor- Gamma Tile Therapy Episode Sponsor- OncoSynergy Inc.

Nearly 80% of the world's potential offshore wind resources are in waters deeper than 60 meters or in waters with poor seabed conditions. These winds cannot be accessed by traditional bottom-fixed installations – and represent opportunity for nascent floating offshore wind projects. S&P Global Offshore Wind Expert Andrei Utkin joins EnergyCents this week to discuss the growing interest in floating offshore wind, and why we should be looking to Europe, the North Sea, and oil and gas majors for sector leadership.
