Metalheads today I am talking about some songs in rock and metal that make me happy! From 80's rock to death metal, these tunes have something different to offer, but the end result is happiness! I also discuss the high prices in collecting vinyl and cds and how resellers suck!!
This episode is a little Valentine's gift with a backstory: Ginny recorded it in 2024 during Chelsea Damon's launch week—back when her brand-new marriage book had just come out—and then thought she lost the file in a computer crash… until now. She found it! And thought this was the perfect day to post it. Chelsea (author of I Thought This Would Make Me Happy) shares the hard-won lessons that actually hold a marriage together when life gets loud—role-swaps, job loss, living with in-laws for three years, the pressure-cooker years (she cites the 5–8 year window as a common breaking point), and the small resentments that quietly stack up if you don't deal with them with grace and honesty. You'll walk away with practical, doable ideas and a hope-filled reminder that joy in marriage isn't found in a perfect season, but in learning how to grow together through the imperfect ones. Send us a textThank you so much for being here! This episode reflects on how my understanding of confidence has changed over time. What once felt tied to performance, comparison, and getting things “right” now feels quieter and more stable, rooted in self-trust rather than validation. I talk about the difference between arrogance and confidence, why confident people used to bother me, and how creating this podcast required speaking without permission in ways I never would have before.I also name the sadness many of us are carrying - grief for the life and world we imagined, shaped by years of political chaos, a pandemic, and constant vigilance. That sadness isn't a failure or a lack of gratitude. It's a reasonable response to an exhausting, relentless moment.Recently, I've really been seeking out happiness - not as positivity or denial, but as something small and grounding. I share the everyday things that still make me happy and help my nervous system remember that good still exists, even when the world feels icky.Thank you for listening and being part of this community! Have you ever thought to yourself "I'm afraid my wife will never make me happy" and then considered some unwanted possible paths of action? In this episode I talk about the way we put our happiness onto other people's shoulders and then get sad, frustrated and resentful that they don't do everything in their power to make us happy - plus I talk about why that's the wrong approach and how to change it so that your marriage returns to fun, laughter, passion and playfulness again. In our coaching, we help men get a powerful new mindset that empowers you to give, love and connect more deeply because you're finally doing that within yourself first. This mindset allows empathy, trust and connection to happen because you're confident in who you're being. We teach skills and knowledge that nobody ever teaches men when we're younger. Skills and knowledge that make you feel confident and in control even when chaos is going on around you. It's amazing what you can achieve when you make yourself a priority. Most men don't. They are too busy taking care of everyone else. Too busy minding the store and making the money. They are focused on the "outside game" of winning life. But their "inside game" of confidence and clarity is suffering badly. You can only improve your inside game with other men. We would love to help you become more calm, more strong emotionally and more confident and happy in who you are as a man. I was reading a year or two ago, I can't even remember where now, but a sentence from the article has solidified itself in my memory. It said something along the lines of "Most people on social media follow someone one step ahead of them, or one financial bracket above them. Any more than that and it's overwhelming, under that and it isn't inspiring." It struck me because it named rather specifically why social media can breed discontentment. If we are only looking at the lives of people a little bit ahead of us, then we are always going to be tempted to spend above than we can afford. Maybe that's taking trips that the financial strain makes us miserable afterward. Sink a deposit into a house that consumes our whole household income. Maybe it's as simple as buying organizing systems that is totally out of reach. Kate Strickler is the creator behind Naptime Kitchen. For this book, she was just named a New York Times best-selling author! Congratulations! Her new book, "I Just Wish I had a Bigger Kitchen," tackles why we feel discontent when most of us have everything we need. -What is the first time you started noticing you were believing lies about your life? -How do you usually identify that you are believing a lie? -Do you think naming the lie helps remove its power over us? -Why is the chapter "I just wish I had more friends" resonating most with readers? If you've ever felt the pull of your credit card after a tough week, found your space overwhelmed with impulse buys, or wondered why shopping didn't fill the hole, it's time for a recalibration. I sat down with Alison Fish, Professional Organiser and founder of Tidy AF UK, to unpack how compulsive spending and clutter were symptoms, not solutions, and how she turned it all around. Alison now works 1:1 with clients across Lincolnshire & Yorkshire, guiding them from chaos to clarity by understanding their habits, motivations, and money mindset. We're digging into: How Alzheimer's in her family exposed patterns of hoarding and overbuying and made Alison re-evaluate her own spending Why a full attic made her go “enough” and how she broke free from buying clutter Why clutter is never just about “stuff” it always has a deeper root cause How honest conversations about debt can unlock real progress (yes, even with your bank) Tips to stop impulse shopping: curate your feed, wait before purchasing, and ask yourself “Do I really need this?” The power of saving with intention, how budgeting for goals helps prevent frivolous spending Why cheap, fast fashion is a false economy, and how buying better quality boosts long-term happiness Educating yourself on money, buying habits, and responsibility, because no one else is going to do it for you How decluttering isn't just aesthetic, it's emotional, financial, and life-changing The critical role of community and expert support in holding yourself accountable This episode is for anyone who's realised that more stuff wasn't the answer and feels ready to shift spending habits, reduce clutter, and reclaim control of their space, money, and mind. What will make me truly happy? Recently I watched an Instagram reel where a psychologist shared data that suggests parents with young children are not as happy as those couples who are child-free or who have grown kids. In the comments section, you could hear the defensiveness. The frustration. The incredulity from parents of young children who felt misrepresented. As someone with young children myself, I could see that many of us were grasping for how to explain why this wasn’t the whole picture. Of course there are some elements of “happiness” that go by the wayside when you have kids. At the same time, having young kids is a time of profound transformation and meaning (the elements of a great story). I wanted to speak to this — not because I have any interested in convincing someone to have children — but because I think the conversation itself is fundamentally flawed. What if asking the question, ‘what will make me happy?’ is actually making us miserable? What if there’s a better question to ask? I’ll unpack that better question in today’s episode. What a great conversation today on Living a Legacy Life with Chelsea Damon, author of the book: I Thought This Would Make Me Happy, How to Fight Less, Forgive Faster, and Cultivate Joy in Your Marriage. Married or not, this podcast is for any serious follower of Jesus. Why? Becasue we are all prone to find our joy and satisfaction and identity in anything but God and yet we get disappointed, disenchanted, and discouraged—maybe all in the same day and at the same time—because we forget that we were made to find our rest in Him, period. Chelsea knew from an early age that she wanted to be married and she always had someone to lean on. What she didn't know was that leaning too hard on one person, even a great husband, didn't help her know who she was nor flourish as God's child. Married young, she was determined not to be one of those divorce statistics but it wasn't until the Lord showed her that she had made marriage an idol that she began to feel the freedom to be herself and help her relationship flourish instead of trying to control all the outcomes. Get your free Self-Awareness Guide HERE (how to know how selfish we are!) And, no, not a good idea to take it for your spouse! Chelsea will be hosting a giveaway of this great book all week long. Be sure to comment to be entered. Even if you aren't married, you know someone who is and might benefit from a gift of her book. Chelsea Damon is not only the author of I Thought This Would Make Me Happy: How to Fight Less, Forgive Faster, and Cultivate Joy in Your Marriage, but also, Together with Christ: A Dating Couple's Devotional: 52 Devotions and Bible Studies to Nurture Your Relationship. She is also the author of chelseadamon.com, a website where moms and wives are encouraged in healthy, Christ-centered lives and relationships. Damon and her husband Josh met while attending college, where they grew in their faith and dated for three years. They were married on the windy coast of Washington in 2013. Throughout their dating and marriage relationship and into parenthood, they've been learning what it means to live loving God and loving others in a self-love world. Today, the Damons have three biological children, are foster parents, and spend their time looking for new places to hike and explore beautiful South Carolina. Social Media: https://www.instagram.com/chelsealeighdamon https://www.facebook.com/LivingTheSweetWife/ https://twitter.com/damonchels Some gems from our conversation: A good way not to fight is to begin the conversation with: "I'm not mad about this but . . ." I was fearful to be pegged as a doormat, so I went out of my way to over control. We are quick to identify the faults in another but give ourselves a little more grace than we are willing to give. I had an unhealthy need to have "that person" in my life to make me find my place in the world. I was loving to get something back and that isn't way love is supposed to work. I needed to change where I find my security—from a person and our relationship—to God and my place in his family. It's okay to make yourself a little uncomfortable to show the love of Christ to those around me. We need to take a good look at ourselves instead of judging how another could improve so that we are getting our needs met. I had to learn the skill of speaking up and thinking critically without living in the fear of destroying the relationship.

Other topics include: working as a producer on films like Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey and I'm Fine (Thanks for Asking), dealing with rejection, why she loves Gen Z and the mistake she came very close to making as a producer that could have landed in her a Florida jail. www.capellafahoome.com
In the continuation of our 'Practical Atheist" sermon series, Rev. Terence Gray refutes the idea that God is indifferent to our happiness, asserting instead that God deeply cares about our joy, found through Him. He debunks the myths separating happiness from holiness and joy from happiness, underlining that they coexist in our pursuit of God. Pastor Terence advises us to actively nurture a joyful heart by aligning with God and cautions against the worldly chase for pleasure. He advocates for maintaining our hearts with diligence, filling them with positive, faith-driven content. We're called to step out from life's 'circus' and prioritize nurturing our 'garden'—our heart—beginning with surrendering it to Jesus. His message closes with a prayer for recognizing God's work in our lives and rediscovering joy in His presence.
