Social media has the power to connect people across the globe. It allows content creators to share their stories and dog owners to post cute pup pics for all the world to see. Even though cannabis is legal in the majority of the U.S. states and Canada, there are still large limitations to advertising and posting on mainstream social networks. The most popular social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok have strict community guidelines on what cannabis businesses can share. This may be in part because in the USA, cannabis is still considered to be a controlled substance. So where do you go to promote, engage and connect? Enter cannabis business social networks. Cannabis business social networks are where industry leaders, business owners, and enthusiasts can interact openly and share their thoughts and experiences. Are you curious to learn about some of our favourite cannabis friendly social networks? Read our blog article: 10 Cannabis Business Social Networks You Should Check Out
There are many factors that go into having a good life, and the quality of our friendships, relationships and interactions with other people are a big part of that. We live in a world that is very consumed by connections online and through social media platforms, and those interactions have en effect on us, just as those in our actual lives. Sometimes we outgrow people, or they don't align with us anymore, other times, their connection to us becomes toxic and while we are dealing with that in our real lives, we are simultaneously taking in the constant communications and interactions with people online. It's important to pay attention to the red flags in our friendships and relationships, and learn to let go of what does not serve us while we make room for newer and better connections and removing people from social media as well. Some people will stay with us for.a life time, and others for only a season, but knowing where to place them, or when to let go is the important part.Blog: https://skipthesmalltalkpodcast.blogspot.com/?m=1

Your lesson, should you chose to accept it, is to use social media to create connections with, and educate, your teaching colleagues. The special agent assigned to help you with this task is Andre Daughty, educational speaker and content creator, of Oklahoma City, OK Andre Daughty has one of the most prolific online presences of any educator that I’ve seen: he’s on Twitter, Intagram, Facebook, has his own blog, multiple YouTube series, as well as an online office! Of course, he manages this all while facilitating workshops for schools and organizations. I wanted to talk to him about what being an educator that shares his life online is like, and give some perspective for others who may be considering doing something similar. In this episode, we discuss:Andre’s path to teaching, that started verrrrrrry earlyWhy Andre wants kids to have their first Black, male, teacher in elementary schoolWhy using his own kids in his workshops makes them powerfulHow teaching is 90% performing, 10% planningBringing laughter into the lives of teachers (“Laugh a Lil”)How we can build community digitally without ever meeting a friend in personWhy he prefers video communications to bloggingUsing movies to bring forth teachable moments (“Reel Moments”)Finding the lessons in life that help inform his teaching (“Chew on This”)Why he’s willing to share his life onlineCombatting racism in educationTips for starting a YouTube accountGetting positive and negative feedback from his audienceHis willingness to engage in difficult conversationsWhy he doesn’t block anyone on his Facebook pageThe many ways to engage with Andre online How to connect with Andre:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheAndreDaughty/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/andredaughty/Twitter: https://twitter.com/andredaughtyYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/ardaughty/videosWebsite/blog: https://andredaughty.org/ NOTE: Lesson: Impossible listeners: I want to thank you all so much for your ratings and reviews on iTunes, as it helps others find the podcast, as well as those who contact me with suggestions for guest special agents! Listeners will hear this Bible 2 World Connection that is of concern to me. I get worried that many these days, try to lead Christians in a way that is either beneficial for certain politicians or harmful to certain politicians. After reading the Bible from cover to cover 16+ times, these passages don't give me the feeling that Christ would approve of how people manipulate Christians this way. Additionally, you might want to check out the blog I felt led to create with some other Bible 2 Self Connections, Bible 2 World Connections and Bible 2 Text or Media Connections called Relate 2 The Bible at https://Relate2TheBible.blogspot.com
So… have you heard I have a traditionally published book scheduled to come out in August of 2020? I am planning a book tour to come see as many of you as possible. I want to go everywhere you are, and share hugs. I get to plan every day of this book tour, and I want to reach out to ask you to join in, help me, and celebrate with me. The book tour will kick off at Embrace (June 26-28, 2020, in West Chester, Ohio). I am already planning all kinds of surprises for you! I need your help in planning a year long Lisa Book Tour - September 2020 to May 2021 in the US. (For my international friends, the book is currently also scheduled to be published in Canada and the United Kingdom with details to come later. I am also hoping to come visit you!) I want to learn about you and your hometown. If you are willing to help with ideas and connections for the book tour, here is my wish list: Location - what is the best way to get to and around your hometown? Book Signings - where can we get together to do a book signing? Media Connections - please share any connections or recommendations for media (TV, radio, or print) Speaking Events - please share any connections for conventions, events, or other opportunities where the Organize 365 message would be helpful Corporate or Brand Connections - if there is a product or service that is headquartered in your hometown, I love to meet people in person and build community YouTubers or Podcasters that share your home city Any other person, business, or community connection where the Organize 365 message would benefit the audience. Especially if you can introduce or connect us One of the things I am looking forward to about this trip is getting to see so many different parts of the United States. Every town and city will be different and I am excited to meet all of you and learning about the places you call home. I also want to keep making connections. No matter how far you have (or have not yet) gotten in your organizing journey, I’d love for you to connect me with other people where I can add value. Anytime you take on a big project like this or take action toward a dream, you do not have to know every step. You just have to know the first step. I have the book written and a publisher, so now the next step is to see how together we can share steps along our organizing journey.
Linda and I talk about the ickiness around marketing, the evolution of small business and a lack of Friday night drinks.---About Linda:I love what I do. I know everyone says that but in my case it is true. PR and Marketing is a career that found me because it was what I was meant to do.As the founder of Business Business Business, Media Connections and Director at Thoughtspot PR, each day I get to connect with business owners and help them share their story. They say an entrepreneur is a person who solves a problem and that’s been the driving force behind Business Business Business, Media Connections and ThoughtSpot PR. Each has a focus on connecting business to the tools and resources they require to make their mark. I’ve always enjoyed working with people, networking and uncovering unique opportunities to stand out in the business world. In 2014 this led me to found Business Business Business, an online resource and networking site which employs my passion and strengths uniting business with opportunity, and the right resources at the right time.Initially a Facebook group, it is now a seminal business website where over 20,000 members share their experience and seek information to guide their business journey. And it was born from my own experience in the small business realm. In 2012 I launched ThoughtSpot PR, offering business owners and entrepreneurs a personalised PR solution that utilised different thinking. It was founded on a commitment to finding individual public relations methods and branding to suit their needs. The success I’ve enjoyed in this field has seen me labelled the “go to” girl. It also led to the creation of Media Connections www.mediaconections.com.au, where the media can easily connect with the stories businesses have to tell.I’m one of those people who wakes in the night with bright ideas and who ponders issues until they’re resolved. In all three of my business ideas, connections and telling stories are key!To work with Linda on your business branding and marketing, you can contact her via her website lindareedenever.com.au, or become part of the growing Business Business Business community https://www.facebook.com/groups/BusinessBusinessBusiness/.---➡️➡️➡️Connect with me on other channels:Website: https://www.janemckaycommunications.com.auPinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/janemckaycommsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/janemckaycommsFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/janemckaycommunicationsYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCupnXR0fqzC2VBiL5dOloDg

Tony Effik is SVP, Client Strategy at NBCUniversal and an adjunct assistant professor at Columbia University. Before, he ran Media & Connections at R/GA and he was CSO of Publicis. Big titles. The thing is, talking to Tony makes me think of this Dilated Peoples lyric: "I work the angles sharp and precise." Everything he has done in life is work the angles. From Nigeria to a housing estate in London to New York. From selling ads to making them. From trying to understand what angle would work for his life and for a possible customer. There is the sound of a beard rubbing against a microphone in this conversation. But maybe it's just Tony working out his next angle. Linda is the founder of Media Connections and ThoughtSpot PR. She is also one of the founders of popular community called Family Capers. WHAT IS LINDA'S ADVICE TO BLOGGERS? PR does not care how many people you have following you, it's your positive influence, their loyalty and audience quality that they look for. Ignore Mummy guilt, stop thinking and just write. Understand that a new blogger cannot expect a large following in only 3 months. Keep writing, be consistent and have the more realistic goal of blogging for 12 months before you get results.
