If you think menopause is just hot flashes and mood swings, Meg Mathews is here to set you straight. In this unfiltered episode, Meg opens up about how menopause knocked her sideways—crippling anxiety, misdiagnosis, zero libido—and how it took years before anyone mentioned hormones. That journey led to Meg's Menopause, a platform busting taboos and pushing for real education, access, and self-respect. We cover it all—testosterone, bone health, dry everything, and the identity shifts no one warns you about. Meg tells it like it is: women aren't broken, they're just not being told the truth. The Backstage Pass - The Story Behind the songs.

In 1995, "Wonderwall" was released as the third single from Oasis' album "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?". The song became a huge hit, propelling the band to global success and making it one of the most iconic songs of the 1990s. But the story behind the song is as interesting as the music itself.Noel Gallagher wrote "Wonderwall" during a tour with the band in the US, in a hotel room in San Francisco. According to some accounts, he wrote the song for his then-girlfriend, Meg Mathews. But in an interview years later, Gallagher stated that the song was actually written for his mother, Peggy, who had left him a note with the words "Wonderwall" on it.In the podcast, we'll dive deeper into the making of "Wonderwall", exploring the different theories behind its lyrics and the story of how the song came to be. We'll also look at the impact it had on Oasis' career and the music industry as a whole, cementing the band's status as one of the greatest of their time.Hosted by Ausha. In this episode of The Sexual Wellness Sessions hosted by Psychosexual & Relationship Therapist Kate Moyle, we're discussing the experience of menopause with icon of the nineties Brit Pop scene, and now menopause campaigner, author and columnist and founder of Women's Health Platform Meg's Menopause @megsmenopause Meg Mathews.   Whilst the menopause is a natural part of ageing which occurs when oestrogen levels decline, normally between the ages of about 45 and 55 years of age; there are still 34 commonly associated symptoms which impact those going through menopause not jut physically and physiologically, but also emotionally and mentally. Whilst some symptoms like irregular periods, hot flushes, vaginal dryness and lower libido may be more commonly known; others such as fatigue, joint pain, dizzy spells, impact on sleep, anxiety and loss of focus and struggles with cognition can have a huge impact on all round health and wellbeing. All of this can also have a huge knock on effect on relationships, work, family-life, hobbies and interests and general wellbeing; although it feels like there aren't many conversations acknowledging that.   In 2016 Meg turned fifty and began to experience the first symptoms of the menopause. She was shocked at the lack of support and understanding shown to women during this time in their lives and made it her mission to break the stigma around this natural cycle of ageing. Since 2017 she has been campaigning about the menopause, fronting campaigns, speaking at events and helping thousands of women navigate their menopause journey.    Meg launched the Women's Health Platform @Megsmenopause to offer people holistic information and products, she has a weekly column for Stella magazine dedicated to the menopause, and a quarterly column in Menopause Matters magazine.    Meg's first book ‘The New Hot: Taking on the Menopause with Attitude and Style' was published by Vermillion in 2020. https://megsmenopause.com/ Instagram : @megsmenopause Today's episode was brought to you by Blueheart, the easy to use, expert-designed app for couples who are experiencing difficulties with libido - this is one of the most common sexual challenges that couples come up against. She was shocked at the lack of support and understanding shown to women during this time in their lives and made it her mission to break the stigma around the menopause. An icon of the nineties Brit Pop scene, Meg Mathews is a former music industry PR, events planner and designer turned entrepreneur and advocate for the menopause. For the past few years, Meg has continued her mission on female empowerment and supporting women through the menopause. Her overall goal is to educate the general public more about the menopause as it is a greatly underrepresented subject and is not talked about enough in the media. Meg talks to Annie and Louise about life growing up in Guernsey, growing up in South Africa and the great outdoors and being active from an early age.  She talks about the colourful 80's & 90's Brit Pop scene and life as a very well recognised IT girl and how the media has not always been kind to her.She has recently moved to Cornwall and has instantly immersed herself into the community and has loved getting to know the local open water mermaid swimming group.  Meg is a massive advocate of open water swimming for her anxiety and has regularly taken cold showers every week over the last 10 years.  She describes it as her daily cold water swim as her re-set and that for up to 6-8 hours she feels real calm. Meg was diagnosed with osteoporosis relatively young aged 47 after she broke her wrist in a fall. She was both shocked and frightened to receive her DEXA scan result as she had seen how this devastating illness had affected her mother, who died of the disease. We’re still not talking about the menopause enough. It’s something I didn’t know much about until recently (after all, it happens to older women, right?) but when, at 41, I started having perimenopausal symptoms I started to read up on it. And with approximately 13 million women in the UK going through menopause and life expectancy for women increasing, we all need to be educated about our options to optimise our future health. So it’s brilliant to have my guest today – Meg Mathews – on the podcast. As an advocate for the menopause, in 2018 she founded MegsMenopause.com - a platform dedicated to breaking the stigma around the menopause and supporting and informing women. Meg holds menopause roadshows and high-profile talks around the country and launched a range of intimate products in 2019 and the MegsMenopause app creating a global community helping women navigate their menopause on the go. Meg’s book The New Hot is a no-holds-barred guide to menopause, full of Meg’s personal insights as well as the latest information, case histories and advice from a wide range of menopause and lifestyle experts. On this episode, Meg talks about her own experience of menopause, why she’s a huge fan of HRT, how to approach the conversation with your GP and much more. It’s worth a listen whether you’re going through the menopause already or not.You can buy The New Hot now, check out MegsMenopause and follow her on Instagram. If you enjoyed this episode then please leave a rating or review - and you can subscribe to ensure you don’t miss future episodes. This episode is published on World Menopause Day 2019 so who better to have on than the founder of the #MakeMenopauseMatter Campaign, Diane Danzebrink and Kate Nowicki from ACAS who published their Menopause in the Workplace Guidelines today. Diane is a psychotherapist, menopause expert, wellbeing consultant and she tirelessly campaigns for improved care and support for menopausal women, having personally had a dreadful experience of the menopause. Diane is changing the menopause landscape for me, you and our daughters – listen to understand why, how and what you can do to help. Kate is Director of Strategic Planning, Performance and Change at ACAS (Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) who provide free and impartial advice on workplace relations and employment law. If you’re an employee or employer you need to be aware of these guidelines and considering menopause in your workplace for economic and legal reasons but also as regards social responsibility… it’s the decent thing to do! It’s clear from data collected that when employers start addressing education for everyone around the menopause, they find they are pushing on an open door… it’s very much wanted and needed. What’s clear from this episode is that starting conversations around menopause benefits everyone because menopause is not just a women’s issue… if a woman is having a bad time with menopausal symptoms, that will spill over onto those around her – her family, her children, her friends, her managers and her work colleagues of all ages/genders.We all have a part to play and a way to contribute. This week, we are joined by Meg Mathews - founder of MegsMenopause and entrepreneur. MegsMenopause was launched in 2017 and is an open source of information and advice dedicated to empowering women through an honest and frank discussion of all things menopause.Together, we speak about: ways in which cannabis can help alleviate symptoms of the menopause, bringing CBD products to market, and the power of cannabis.Episode SummaryOnce Meg turned fifty, she began to experience the first symptoms of the menopause. She was shocked at the lack of support and understanding shown to women during this time in their lives and made it her mission to break the stigma around the menopause.Meg started taking CBD after seeing her friend take it at night. This piqued her curiosity and decided to try it for herself. After three weeks of taking CBD, she was free from aches and pains associated with the menopause and sleeping well. She believed in CBD so much for alleviating symptoms of the menopause that she decided to bring out her own range of CBD products to support her views. The menopause is when a woman stops having periods and is no longer able to get pregnant naturally. The menopause is a natural part of ageing that usually occurs between 45 and 55 years of age, as a woman's oestrogen levels decline. In the UK, the average age for a woman to reach the menopause is 51.There are 34 symptoms of the menopause which include anxiety, night sweats, fatigue, trouble sleeping, hot flushes, headaches, tender breasts, mood swings, weight gain, dry skin and difficulty concentrating.Meg is an advocate for the healing power of CBD specifically for menopausal women, having had first hand experience with its healing properties herself. She is now the founder and face of MegsMenopause, an open source of information and advice dedicated to empowering women going through the menopause.Megs products include skincare, intimate care, and CBD food supplements. Meg didn't face any adversity or stigma when she decided to take the leap into CBD, her family and friends were very supportive, a direct contrast to many others who face a myriad of questions and doubt when they do the same.

Together, they discuss Meg's reasons for creating her website, MegsMenopause, and why she has worked so hard to improve menopause education for women. Meg talks very openly about her dreadful menopause experience and how she had no idea what was happening to her - as indeed so many women don't. Thankfully she is so much better now, taking the right dose and type of HRT. Meg works tirelessly to educate women (and men) about the menopause and how it can affect their lives. In this podcast, Dr Newson and Meg discuss the different ways women can receive the right help and advice.  Meg's Three Take Home Tips: Share with your family! Your symptoms may also affect those closest to you so it could be helpful to share how you are feeling and why. If you have an inkling of any menopausal symptoms, fill out this questionnaire - if you have 5 or more symptoms then you may want to go and see your GP. Self love! Things can feel so overwhelming during the menopause so take time for yourself and put yourself first. www.megsmenopause.com

Everything I needed to know about the menopause………..no-one told me. This week’s compilation is where we hear the lowdown straight from women – their voices, experiences and truths – on what is still a taboo subject. Menopause is a big part of women’s lives, hair loss, insomnia, skin thinning, night sweats, hopelessness, vaginal dryness, hot flashes, hot flushes, libido drop, rage, brain fog, irritability, anxiety, joint pain, weight gain and many more. So many women feel isolated, suffering in silence, shamed in a youth centric culture, feeling as if their power as women is diminishing. This is accompanied by very physical challenges and mental health dips. It’s a time of immense growth, IF women can steady themselves. This is why these conversations are vital.  In two weeks I will be talking to Meg Mathews an expert on menopause (and Noel Gallagher’s ex-wife), asking all the questions we have about menopause. Oh, there are so many questions! A big thank you to all of our contributors (in order of appearance): ... Anonymous, 53, mother of two Amanda - 44 yr old Mom of 2 boys -8 & 11. “I had breast cancer at age 40. Kicked it! Learning to live gracefully and easily with my “new” body and my fears, and desiring to learn my life lessons without any more drama!” Meryl Lynn Ranzer Human, Artist, Activator, Big mouth, Teacher, Media Manager-New Sanctuary Coalition NYC, Mom Sarah, a 55 year old mother, step mother, business owner and meno-matriarch from Birmingham Joan, a writer and photographer, lives in New York City with her husband Peggy Starnes Entrepreneur, making and selling renaissance clothing. Mom of 4. 54 years old and in the process of menopause right now. Claire, a resilient mother of 2 girls, UK.
