164. Chronic Fatigue, Ironman Training + Inner Voice Today we are joined by World Champs qualified ironman triathlete, triathlon coach, physiotherapist and ex-professional swimmer for Scottland, Sally Wood. Sally is not only an incredible and well esteemed athlete, she's also a passionate coach and experienced musculoskeletal physiotherapist with a wealth of knowledge around training principals for endurance, performance and injury prevention. This episode covers Sallys upbringing as a swimmer, transition into college life in the States as she studied and swam full time and her life following, loss of identity and how she re-found purpose through her lead up to her first Ironman Triathlon. Sally went through a long period of unexplained fatigue following her first ironman which not only impacted her ability to train but also socialise, work and perform her day to day functions. Sally talks in detail about how she managed this and sort the help to eventually get back to normal life. There wasn't any quick fixes or supplements, Sal talks in detail on this. It was fascinating insight into living with an invisible illness and the impact that our inner voice has on our performance and mental wellbeing. It has been a beat since the 'ol Sh*t Mailbox was opened, but it's that time again. Between a James Bond debate (or lack thereof), a very interesting long-distance scenario that might just be the exception that proves the rule, and a soul-baring email about a legitimate fear of settling, this episode is heartfelt, humorous, and above all: honest. It's like a funny after-school special, but in podcast-form. Rosemary Barnes and Allen Hall review the latest employment data from the Airswift Global Energy Talent Index. 31% of survey respondents have been approached about a position with another company SIX TIMES OR MORE in the past year! That indicates a big boom in wind energy for technicians and site managers. However, oil and gas salaries and benefits continue to be a big draw out of wind. Email us! Uptime 156 Bonus Allen Hall: This is a special bonus episode of the Uptime Wind Energy Podcast, and I'm here with Rosemary Barnes. And Rosemary, the Global Energy Talent Index Report came out and it's a product of Air Swift. Air Swift is a company that finds talent for your company, and they do research into what's happening in renewables in terms of employees and what they're thinking, what they're feeling, what they're getting paid, and who's moving in, who's moving out. Allen Hall: So I, I took a kind of a deep dive in this report. I wanted to talk to you about it today and kind of get your thoughts because a lot of people in wind in particular have a lot to think about over the next. Because wind energy is expanding so quickly, there's a lot of opportunities and that's good, but it also creates a little bit of chaos. Allen Hall: if you're looking for talent. So I'll throw some numbers at you. Okay. In, in terms of wind Farm project managers, what they make, A year in the, in the United States. The, the report actually gives it by country. I, I'm just talking United States here. It doesn't apply everywhere. Of course project managers in the US if they're permanent the average salary is $74,000, a little over $74,000 a year. Allen Hall: If they're contract workers, it's about $525 a day. Wind turbine technicians permanent ones are getting paid about $57,000 a year, or if they're on contract about four, a little over $400 a day. Those are some good numbers. I, I think they've been going up recently. So at Wind Turine Tech making 58,000 thousand dollars is not bad. Allen Hall: I know a lot of technicians that are making a. Hundred plus those guys are really busting their backside to do it. Does. But as part of this, because Sallys are going up and oil and gas is booming, which is roughly in the same area in the United States, there's a lot of moving around. But I, I want to talk to you in specific about what some of the issues were for employees. Allen Hall: The, it does look like in the renewable sector, a lot of people are willing to relocate, right? Or if half of the people surveyed would be willing to relocate, however if you, if you're, most of the people were under the age of 45, but if they have family, they're less likely to move. So it seems like once you establish yourselves somewhere and have a couple of kids that probably get 'em in school, You're not likely to move around. Allen Hall: So it tends to be kind of a younger scene on the technician side. I, I'm guessing because of that, because of all the travel? Rosemary Barnes: Yeah. The wind turbine techs that I work with. Oh. I don't know. It's a, it's a mix. I guess. There's a lot more really young ones, but you definitely have. to have some experience in there as well. Rosemary Barnes: So I say a mix.

Reclaiming Menarche is a conversation about the first menstrual blood, it considers ways in which we can reclaim our menarche experience retrospectively, learn to lean into our bleeding times and heal what is often a lonely experience. The series is made from conversations with those who have influenced or inspired my own womb journey. Hosted by Grace Hempshall, menstrual researcher and womb/fertility massage therapist. Join Grace in episode 6 as she speaks with artist Sally Whelan. Sally is a Somerset based artist, she is a figurative painter, a wigmaker, a poet, a procrastinator and a thinker. In this episode we talk somewhat less about menarche but more about what it means to explore a tactile, visual and playful relationship with our moon time bleed. I was really grateful when Sally agreed to record this as she invites us to learn how her monthly cycle and bleed is intrinsically linked to her creative practice and expression as a professional artist. We dive into her Blood Work practice, which plays with the overlap between devotion to self, pleasure & exploration and public art piece. We also talk about Sallys recent series of enormous oil paintings: The Gender Divine which bring a fresh gaze upon the naked body, the stories held within the walls of the flesh and the divine nature of the unknowable self. You can find out more about Sally by following her on instagram @painter.sally or visiting her website www.paintersally.com. You can find out more about the Reclaiming Menarche series at www.withgracefrome.co.uk or on instagram at @reclaiming_menarche For those of you who would like to know the content in advance of listening, themes explored within this episode are: * nudity * eating disorders * menstrual blood

Das Video dazu kannst Du dir hier ansehen: It all starts in your head. No matter where you are. Schreibe mir gerne Deine Gedanken an podcast@julianheck.de. Bleib Dir treu, Dein Julian
In this episode, I sit down with the insanely brave, Alex Highsmith. She is a writer, producer and company member of Don, Pat & Tom, a multimedia company. Inspired by her own sobriety journey, she is also the founder of Sober Sallys, a support group created during the pandemic for sober women experiencing extreme isolation.Alex was an actor in college, and because she was easily finding success, she had a lot of time on her hands to drink and socialize. Right out of school, she was cast in a national tour, and once again, Alex found herself protected. When the bubble burst and she was shot out into the world, Alex drank to mask her terror. Her drinking lead to Adderall, then cocaine and then meth.Alex is part of a 12 Step Program and she takes us through what rock bottom looked like in her world. She talks about the challenges of staying sober and how little pieces of light in her life are her lifeline. In this new phase of her life, Alex is able to support others, she has a loving partner and an adorably cute pup. She has a steady job she enjoys. She can look her mother in the face and she can sleep at night because she does not have to keep track of all of the lies needed to keep straight. Alex is brave, she is real, she is honest. She isn't afraid to talk about the messy and the ugly. I know her words will assure many of us out there that we have been seen and we have been heard. Some highlights in this Episode from Alex:“I was drinking. And then I started to get into hard drugs. I went from Adderall to cocaine to meth. And I come from a nice family. I'm from Utah, I've got everything going for me. And that kind of darkness found me. So, I only say that because I never anticipated who I would become.”“There's the Big Bang. And then there's the quiet sort of implosion. Because rock bottom in my program is seen as that every rock bottom has a trapdoor. And that's to scare you. That's to let you know that you can always go further than you imagined.”“It's about the very small stuff now, like my theatre company. I'm a really reliable part of my theatre company. That is crazy to me. People had to drag me to rehearsals because I was wasted. It was such an opportunity and I just missed it. So, now the light has changed. But there was always a light for the day, I just needed to look for it.”Don't Miss a Beat. First off - apologies for the lateness in getting this episode to you but nevertheless - here it is! Episode Six gives us all the information you'll ever need about weddings but specifically, weddings in Whiting! We are also asking for our Gentle Readers to send us their own favorite wedding photo memory (which as a reminder will also give us permission to post it on our website...). We would love to see your memories! Our cocktail is one that your host Sally threw together at the last moment and ended up being more bitter than any of us expected. Usually we recommend one of Sallys cocktails - this time...not so much (but we still love her!) This episode lets you, our GR's know that John is available for weddings and could also do your flowers so hit him up at cigarettestabandtampons@gmail.com if you need a officiant or a florist. He's cheap (shhhhhh, don't tell him we said that). Murders of Joel and Lisa GuyOn Saturday, November 26, 2016, 61-year-old Joel Guy Sr. and 55-year-old Lisa Guy were murdered and dismembered by their son, 28-year-old Joel Michael Guy Jr., in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States. The younger Guy stabbed his father at least 42 times, his mother at least 31 times. He was convicted of both murders in October 2020 and received a sentence of life imprisonment.Guy's parents were soon to retire and would stop providing money to their son, and he was to receive a $500,000 life insurance policy if both were dead or missing. The murder involved an elaborate plot to stab both parents, dismember and dissolve their remains, and clean and burn down the house, as well as frame the father for the crime. Guy was injured during the stabbing, and left the partially dissolved remains in the house as he left to dress his wounds. Before he returned, police discovered the bloody scene upon performing a welfare check. They also discovered a notebook detailing the plot in a backpack; both parents' torsos and dismembered limbs dissolving in plastic bins, in an acid-based solution full of corrosive chemicals described by prosecutors as a "diabolical stew of human remains"; the father's severed hands on the floor; and the mother's head in a pot on the stove.Their son, Joel Michael Guy Jr. (born 1988) graduated from the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts in Natchitoches in 2006, and previously attended Hahnville High School. He had never worked and had always been supported by his family. He spent one semester at George Washington University, then attended Louisiana State University as a student and lived in Baton Rouge right up until the time of the murders in 2016, ostensibly training to become a plastic surgeon.Guy Sr. also had three daughters by a first marriage.1) youtube documentaries: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjg4pz-3MzwAhXNuZ4KHREbBzMQwqsBMAB6BAgMEAk&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DVvQ0dToFnNM&usg=AOvVaw0wJJ2WP5KpLfRUKEmYsktk2) Wikipedia: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjg4pz-3MzwAhXNuZ4KHREbBzMQFjAIegQIBRAD&url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FMurders_of_Joel_and_Lisa_Guy&usg=AOvVaw1qPJ_D7D1NGY1MatkBA4Ex3) Kitas intro music: Inmenso by Charles Mitchel.4) Sallys outro music: Multiplication.

Denne novelle er oplæst af Kieu Anh Nguyen (nordics.info studentermedhjælper).Læs historien her.#nordicsinfo #ReNEWHub.Sounds effects from freesound.org, including 7-14-Crying (14FSmitakovaK, CC BY-NC 3.0) and Fire In Woodburning Stove (Benboncan, CC BY 3.0).
