The police's rapid announcement of the age, ethnicity, and nationality of the Liverpool parade suspect shows they've learned lessons from the 2024 Southport attack.Within two hours of a car hitting a crowd of Liverpool fans as they celebrated their team parading the Premier League trophy, Merseyside Police said they had arrested a "53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area".Last summer, the same force was criticised in the aftermath of the Southport stabbings when online speculation and misinformation filled a void after the same force released few details about a 17-year-old – later revealed to be Axel Rudakubana – that they had in custody. On today's Sky News Daily, Matt Barbet is joined by our north of England correspondent Katerina Vittozzi, who is in Liverpool, and Helen King, former assistant chief constable for Merseyside Police, who talks about the challenges of policing online speculation.
This week on Paranormal Activity, Yvette Fielding opens the case files that start with a frantic 999 call and end with officers staring at the impossible. From the infamous Enfield Poltergeist to the chilling disturbances at 30 East Drive, we'll revisit the nights when terrified homeowners dialled for help—only for uniformed professionals to witness chairs skidding across floors, objects materialising out of thin air, and unseen hands pounding the walls.Adding fresh authority to the mystery, Yvette is joined by Sergeant Garreth Berry of Merseyside Police, who breaks the usual wall of silence to share his own unexplained encounters on night-shift.How do you write a report when the suspect is invisible? What does police procedure look like when doors slam themselves and radios crackle with ghostly voices?Turn down the lights, keep your phone within reach, and listen as hauntings collide with handcuffs in an episode that asks: What happens when law enforcement has to enforce laws of nature that suddenly don't apply?A Create Podcast Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/paranormal-activity-with-yvette-fielding. They'll be discussing their life journey and work, what sound healing is and how it can help and heal in everyday life.. Since everything in life is vibration, sound therefore has the power to bring about changes on many levels, physically, emotionally and spiritually. They'll also be giving a live demonstration! So tune in, relax and journey into the world of Sound! Guest Bio: Rita and Phil Crosbie are professional sound healers currently living on the South shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. Between them they have over 60 years experience offering a range of complementary and alternative healing modalities. After meeting at Waterloo Spiritualist Church, Liverpool UK, in 2000, where Rita was a platform medium and Phil was honing his healing and intuitive skills. In 2002 they began to use sound in their healing and meditation work and have specialised in sound healing since 2007, using an array of instruments but their overriding love is for the gong and their Paiste Planet gongs in particular. Their plan to ‘Gong the planet‘ is taking shape. They work intuitively and offer 2:1 sessions, group work for public and private sector clients - including the Canadian military working with sufferers of PTSD and their families, as well as the health service and education sectors. When in the UK Rita and Phil used to combine this work with their full-time careers in the public sector: a combined 46 years culminating in senior and middle management roles. There were no Trust Funds nor years sitting cross legged up a mountain in Bali for them - as joyful as that sounds - but rather stark and harsh days in Merseyside Police and senior management in the Civil Service. They feel that they bring real world experience to their specialism in sound healing, providing a keen insight into the needs of their clients in attempting to deal with the demands of modern day life. Living life on the ocean, with their 3 rescue cats and surrounded by nature they are committed to helping everyone through the absolute power and wonder that is Sound, Frequency and Vibration. Walking away from the ‘big' jobs and pensions to live the dream 3,000 miles from home to bang gongs for a living, they continue to practice what they preach, and through their work help others to relax, heal and ultimately to live their own dreams. They have been featured in a Canadian Health magazine, on radio and TV and are currently part of a Canadian study examining the work and practices of Sound Healers specialising in gongs. www.soundbeings.com www.soundbeings.one

On this week's episode of #Leadership - What's on your mind? I speak to Mark Stanton. Mark is an authentic, open and engaging leadership coach and mentor. His aim is to help strengthen, support and enhance the potential of everyone he works with. As a former police officer who served for three decades with both West Midlands and Merseyside Police, achieving the rank of Chief Superintendent, he understands the challenges and impact that senior leadership can have in operational, business and personal terms. A daily news briefing from Catholic News Agency, powered by artificial intelligence. Ask your smart speaker to play “Catholic News,” or listen every morning wherever you get podcasts. www.catholicnewsagency.com - Following the kidnapping of two Catholic priests in central Nigeria last week, the local diocese announced July 19 that one of the two priests had escaped, while the other was “brutally” killed. Father John Mark Cheitnum and Father Denatus Cleopas were abducted at around 5:45 pm on July 15 at the rectory of Christ the King Catholic Church, in the town of Lere in Nigeria's northern Kaduna State. Cleopas escaped with his life, but Cheitnum was “brutally killed” by his abductors on the day of his kidnapping, a letter from the diocese of Kafanchan says. His burial is scheduled for July 21 at the Kafanchan's Cathedral of Saint Peter. The diocese did not say who the kidnappers were thought to be, or whether any ransom was demanded for the two priests. At least seven Catholic priests were kidnapped in Nigeria in the month of July, according to data compiled by Aid to the Church in Need, a Catholic nonprofit organization. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/251827/kidnapped-priest-killed-in-nigeria-another-escapes A 76 year-old English grandmother who was fined for praying near to an abortion clinic has successfully overturned her financial penalty. Rosa Lalor, from Liverpool, was issued the fine during the country's lockdown in February 2021, after a policeman questioned why she was out doors and she replied that she was “walking and praying”. The officer involved said that this was not “a reasonable excuse” and that she was in fact protesting and so she was then arrested, detained and fined. As a result of a legal challenge, Merseyside Police have now conceded that Lalor should not have been detained due to the fact she was firmly within her rights to silently pray while out walking and that her actions were reasonable and acceptable under Covid-19 regulations. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/251830/english-grandmother-arrested-for-praying-near-abortion-clinic-wins-religious-freedom-challenge Bishop Stephen D Parkes of Savannah has announced that Traditional Latin Masses in his Georgia diocese will cease in May 2023. The bishop said that he had requested permission from the Vatican Dicastery for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments for parishes in his diocese to offer Mass according to the 1962 Roman Missal and received a response from Rome that one parish can offer the Mass weekly and three parishes can offer the Mass monthly until May 20, 2023. The Georgia bishop's announcement came one day before the anniversary of Pope Francis' promulgation of Traditionis custodes, a motu proprio which placed sweeping restrictions on the celebration of Mass using the 1962 Roman Missal, also known as the extraordinary form of the Roman Rite, the Tridentine Mass, and the Traditional Latin Mass. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/251822/vatican-instructs-savannah-diocese-to-end-traditional-latin-masses-in-may-2023-bishop-says Today, the Church celebrates Saint Margaret of Antioch, a virgin and martyr. Having embraced Christianity and consecrated her virginity to God, she was disowned by her father and adopted by her nurse. Threatened with death unless she renounced the Christian faith, the holy virgin refused to adore the gods of the empire. Several attempted methods of killing her failed, and she was finally beheaded. The Greek Church honors her under the name Marine on July13, and the Latin church as Margaret on July 20. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/saint/st-margaret-of-antioch-307

A British man saw his drug empire crumble after he was caught handling a very different product - a fine blue cheese.39-year-old Carl Stewart, from Liverpool, used an encrypted network to share a photograph of himself holding a small block of the Marks & Spencer's Stilton. The network was more commonly used for drugs and was being watched by international police. As part of Operation Venetic, a crack team of cyber cops were able to extract his fingerprints from the photo and identify him. That discovery led police to rich vein of illegal drugs and saw Stewart jailed for over 13 years on charges of conspiracy to supply cocaine, heroin, MDMA, and ketamine.Stewart used the nickname "Toffeeforce" on the app, which boasted a global membership of around 60,000.After the sentencing last week at Liverpool Crown Court, Detective Inspector Lee Wilkinson said Stewart "was caught out by his love of Stilton cheese"."Stewart was handed a substantial sentence of 13 years and six months, and this should serve as a stark warning to anyone involved in this criminality that there are serious consequences," Wilkinson said."Merseyside Police, along with law enforcement agencies across the world, will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of those people who think they are above the law, and we will continue to target anyone involved in serious organised crime to keep this positive momentum going."The cheese that started it all. Episode 13: Refusing to accept a terminal diagnosis. Dave Bolton is in his late 30's, he is married, has two children, and lives on The Wirral. You would be forgiven for not having heard of Dave. But, I promise you, you have never heard a story quite like Dave's. Dave comes from a military dynasty, his Father and Grandfather both served in the Armed Forces, so it was almost an inevitability that Dave would serve two tours of Iraq whilst serving in the RAF. After leaving the forces at the age of 21, Dave joined Merseyside Police, and soon found himself head hunted to join a plain clothed Tactical unit, and a Bronze commander on 3 force wide Drug Operation's code named Op Manaton. In 2009 Dave became the Light Weight Kickboxing Champion of the World, whilst representing Great Britain at the World championship in Italy. Do you know what the most ridiculous part of this story is? Those few paragraphs don't even begin to tell you about Dave's adult life, one shaped by his unbelieving determination for survival and self improvement. So sit back, and enjoy, I promise you won't have heard anything quite like it before.

I am delighted that Ian Braisby, my guest in Episode 11, is another listener who has decided they would like to be a guest - long may that trend continue !Ian was born in 1972 in a mining town near Nottingham , in the U.K. Inspired by a certain Mr, Springsteen Ian decided in 1991 to "get out while he was still young and run" 50 miles to the SW and attend Birmingham University where he graduated in Commerce and German. Married to Sally-Jayne Ian now has an interesting career that combines his own translation business with a contrasting business as a tour guide (His Beatles Tours of Liverpool are very well regarded and I plan to go on one next year) Six years ago Ian was diagnosed as having High Performing Autism and he now also spends time talking to companies and organisations about how they can do more and get more from the Autistic community. On the morning of our recording he had been doing a presentation to Merseyside Police on this very subject. Ian's musical tastes are as broad and varied as his career and I thoroughly enjoyed talking to him about numerous great bands and fantastic stories and memories. Many of the bands and songs we touched on in our discussion are on this playlist https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5P30ofgCEKq8kM3btxaa2O?si=fP6fIfbESPyDfSBXPynYRwIn addition, Ian also shared a playlist he compiled a few years ago whilst in therapy. The title of "Emergency Box" will give you some clue but you will have to listen to the episode to get the full story. Hhowever , i can tell you that, having listened to, this playlist it is guaranteed to put a smile on your face https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1tq5hBEgzAwJf9suXHbnTD?si=qI3_rbJtTpyvTrvHCOsLaQ
