In this episode, I sit down with Eric Smith from GrowNOW ADHD, to explore innovative approaches to social skills and executive functioning through the lens of a community-based program: Executive Functioning Summer Camp. Eric shares his insights on challenging existing service delivery models and discusses the importance of practical, real-world applications for clients.Eric is a Speech-Language Pathologist, ADHD/Executive Functioning Specialist, and Director GrowNOW ADHD's EF Camp with over 7 years of experience in the field. He has worked in a variety of settings including Private Practice, Early Intervention, and Schools.Key Discussion Points:What are the benefits and limitations of a traditional therapy model and how can we expand the way we do intervention to improve generalization? • How the summer camp model facilitates real-world connections.• How much structure and support should adults be providing, and when does it make sense to use a “lesson plan”? • The concepts of “healthy risk” and “healthy discomfort”.• Why it's crucial to incorporate diverse experiences to better prepare our clients for adult life AND to help clinicians stay engaged in their work.• Using the explicit instruction framework (“I do, We do, You do”) to mentor clinicians and coach parents. Many young adults enter their post-high school years without the executive functioning skills needed to thrive. This is often because the people supporting them underestimate the amount of support they're getting, and there's no plan in place to fade that prompting. When young adults enter college, they have to manage sleep hygiene, long-term projects, and manage screen time. This is why I talk so much about using multiple service delivery models when supporting executive functioning; whether it be in the schools or in private practice; because many essential life skills cannot be taught without the right environmental scaffolding in place. That's why I invited Michael McLeod from GrowNOW therapy to talk about why he uses a combination of direct sessions, summer camps with community-based activities, parent coaching, and educator training. Michael partnered and worked with The Focus Foundation in 2015, learning from incredible doctors, neuropsychologists, and various specialists – gaining in-depth training and experience with ADHD and Executive Function research and development. He currently specializes in ADHD, Executive Functioning, Social Executive Functioning, and Parent Coaching. From his experiences as an Executive Function Specialist, Michael developed a distinct model of Internal Skills Coaching to enhance these skills. Michael is a Keynote Speaker and has presented nationwide and internationally, training families and professionals on his unique GrowNOW Treatment Model for fostering Executive Functions & Resiliency. In this conversation, we discuss:✅Do graduate programs prepare clinicians to work on executive functioning out in the field?✅Frontloading vs. traditional social skills sessions.✅Why helping families set boundaries around screen time is an essential part of the services clinicians offer.✅Defining failure to launch and what it looks like in young adults.✅Situational awareness and its impact on safety for college students. The New Jersey Devils recently signed free agent Tomas Nosek to a one-year deal. While he's not a threat to score, he's definitely a useful player at the center position. He can rack up the hits and blocks, and is also good at face-offs. So, he will be a solid contributor to the bottom-six unit. There are also some theories floating around that he might be Michael McLeod's replacement due to McLeod's 2018 Team Canada scandal. Colin Miller was acquired earlier this month and finally spoke to the media for the first time as a member of the Devils organization.Interview soundbites: Tomas Nosek and Colin MillerFollow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

The friendship of Michael McLeod (one-year extension) and Nathan Bastian (two-year extension) will live on in New Jersey for at least one more season. The Devils organization recently re-signed both of them to small deals. Retaining both of them was imperative because they were crucial as to why the Devils were so successful. It's important to have decent depth pieces in addition to a good top-six unit.Interview soundbites: Nathan Bastian & Michael McLeodFollow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

The Vancouver Canucks still need a third line centre and another defencmen for this roster that is apparently all in to take the next step. On today's episode the boys talk about Seattle Kraken's D-Man Carson Soucy as an option + look at two centre ice men who could be acquired. Both Michael McLeod and Scott Laughton both fit the portfolio of a player the Canucks don't have down the middle and desperately need. Beggsy also touches on the player the Canucks should choose at #11 if available. I think his name is Dmitri Simashev. We end things off talking more about the future of Diapers and by giving the spotlight to the Commenters. NCAAWBKB – Women's College Basketball Last Night Toledo 71, Western Michigan 53 Central Michigan 79, Northern Illinois 62 Eastern Michigan 68, Miami (OH) 67 NFL – NFL rallies to support Hamlin as his condition improves NFL players and coaches are rallying to support Damar Hamlin, two days after the Buffalo Bills safety’s heart stopped and he needed to be resuscitated during a game at Cincinnati. Colts safety Rodney Thomas made the two-hour drive from Indianapolis to Cincinnati to provide his sedated friend words of encouragement. Vikings defensive tackle and former Bills teammate Harrison Phillips arranged to have dinner delivered to the hospital. Hamlin’s marketing representative Jordan Rooney told The Associated Press the player’s recovery is moving in “a positive direction.” The Bills say Hamlin is still in critical condition but has shown signs of improvement. NFL – Hamlin’s collapse spurs new wave of vaccine misinformation Misinformation about the safety of COVID-19 vaccines has flared up once again, this time following the on-field collapse of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin during a game Monday. Even before Hamlin was carried off the field, social media posts claimed without evidence that his medical emergency was caused by a COVID-19 inoculation. Prominent anti-vaccine groups and right-leaning figures like Tucker Carlson claimed Hamlin’s cardiac arrest is connected to a number of athletes who have died after receiving the shot. Physicians interviewed by the AP, however, said it’s wrong to blame vaccines for Hamlin’s injury and that there’s been no increase in cardiac arrests among vaccinated athletes. NFL – NFL still considering scheduling options, Week 18 unchanged The NFL is still considering various options following the suspension of the Bills-Bengals game, including possibly eliminating the bye week before the Super Bowl. The Bills-Patriots game set for Sunday and the rest of the Week 18 games remain on schedule. The pivotal Bills-Bengals game was suspended Monday night after Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest while making a tackle in the first quarter. A marketing representative for his family says Hamlin's recovery is moving in “a positive direction” two days after the 24-year-old player had to be resuscitated on the field. NFL executive Jeff Miller said there has been no decision on whether to resume the Bills-Bengals game at a later date. A decision will be made in the coming days. NFL – Bears’ Fields to miss finale, ending shot at QB rushing mark Justin Fields won't get a chance to break the single-season rushing record for an NFL quarterback. Coach Matt Eberflus says Fields will miss the season finale against the Minnesota Vikings because of a strained hip and Nathan Peterman will start in his place. Fields finishes his second season with 1,143 yards rushing, 63 shy of the record of 1,206 set by Baltimore's Lamar Jackson in 2019 during his MVP season. Eberflus said Fields reported a sore hip Monday morning, a day after the Bears got blown out at Detroit. An MRI confirmed the strain and the team's medical staff ruled him out for the game against NFC North champion Minnesota on Sunday. MLB – Benintendi just planning to be himself as he joins White Sox Andrew Benintendi pulled on his new No. 23 Chicago White Sox jersey a day after finalizing a $75 million, five-year deal. It's the richest contract in terms of total value in franchise history. The White Sox had long been interested in Benintendi, going back to when the outfielder was selected by Boston with the No. 7 pick in the 2015 amateur draft — one spot ahead of Chicago. Benintendi says it’s good to be with a team that wanted him from the get-go. MLB – AP source: Cubs, 1B Hosmer agree to 1-year contract Eric Hosmer has agreed to a $720,000, one-year contract with the Chicago Cubs, giving the team another option at first base and designated hitter. A person familiar with the negotiations confirmed the deal to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because it was pending a successful physical. The 33-year-old Hosmer played for San Diego and Boston last season, batting .268 with eight homers and 44 RBIs in 104 games. He was traded to Boston in August, and then he was designated for assignment by the Red Sox last month. USA Soccer – Reyna family flagged Berhalter incident; interim coach named The U.S. Men's soccer team has been plunged into public turmoil because the family of former U.S. captain Claudio Reyna family says it was the one to notify the U.S. Soccer Federation of a decades-old incident involving Gregg Berhalter and his wife. The family says it took action in response to the coach's disparagement of young star Gio Reyna, Claudio’s son. Berhalter said Tuesday that his 1991 behavior in which he kicked the woman who would become his wife was “shameful.” Anthony Hudson will coach the team for exhibitions against Serbia on Jan. 25 and Colombia 3 days later. IIHF – Canada beats US 6-2 in world junior hockey semifinals Adam Fantilli scored the go-ahead goal in the second period, Thomas Milic made 43 saves and Canada overcame an early deficit to beat the United States 6-2 on Wednesday night to advance to the world junior hockey championship game. Despite the debut of our new black sweaters, this game was not that exciting. It had it moments including JVR hitting Michael McLeod, which left him bleeding, but other than that this was a snooze fest. But, sometimes boring is good. Especially since the Devils were on a 4 game winless streak. If they needed a guaranteed win, doing it against a struggling Flyers team was the way to go.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!BetOnline AG: There is only 1 place that has you covered and 1 place we trust. The New Jersey Devils will be taking on the Boston Bruins this afternoon. There's a lot of things that I want to look at in terms of this matchup. Because similar to the New York Islanders, the Bruins don't really look that good on paper. However, the Devils certainly cannot go daydreaming against them. Some players to look out for: Michael McLeod, Nico Hischier, and Dawson Mercer. I have a feeling that the Devils will extend their win/points streak.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!BetOnline AG: There is only 1 place that has you covered and 1 place we trust. Betonline.ag! My buddy and I, Michael McLeod from Grow Now Therapy, chat about the difference between boys and girls when it comes to ADHD or Executive Functioning Developmental Delay. We don't have enough information to address non-binary, gender fluid or trans kids. I would love to delve into that but today it's about cis kids. Don't miss this fascinating discussion about ADHD/EFDD. You will learn things you never knew. This is so great.

The three players that are apart of it have made some sort of major impact/improvement at one point or another. Also, what do each one of their respective futures hold? Despite this OT loss, New Jersey now has at least one point in their last three matchups. It was a sloppy, yet lucky, game against the top team out East. There was a lot of positive takeaways, including stunning performances from McLeod and Blackwood. Hi folks, Leigh Farnell here. Now, I’m really excited about this Sell, Serve, Prosper Radio interview with Michael McLeod, managing director of Future Institute. The reason I’m interviewing Michael, besides the fact that he’s got fantastic energy and fantastic drive, is I was watching him the other day, planning his prospecting. Now, if you’re going to be prosperous, you need to understand how to prospect. In fact, we say prospecting for prosperity. So, I sat down with Michael. In fact, we went on a Zoom conference webinar. And I recorded this. So, it’s on video, as well as on audio. Now, the problem is there’s a bit of a technical crackle every now and again. So, if you can just put up with the crackle because the content outweighs the crackle, if there’s such a thing. So, listen in, take notes because when you’re talking about Sell, Serve and Prosper, it all starts with prospecting for prosperity, so you actually have someone you can actually sell to, and then serve. So, make notes and we’re gonna do more work with Michael, because there’s even more we can go into. But this is a gold mine on how to go about setting your plan in the Yellow Zone, in the Color Zone that’s yellow before you even get to a customer. How to prospect for prosperity. Here we go.

In this week's MonsterTalk, we interview Michael McLeod, a writer, producer, and director who has created documentaries for PBS, the PBS series Frontline, the Discovery Channel, and other national venues. His book "Anatomy of a Beast" is an in-depth look at the origins of the Bigfoot mythology that culminated in the Patterson-Gimlin film. He examines the lives and beliefs of the men (for it was mostly men) whose writing, research, hoaxes, stories and films brought us the Bigfoot we know today in popular culture. The book gives a very humanizing look at people whose efforts range from the silly to the desperate. Read full episode notes
