Thamicha Isaac is the founder and CEO of Openly Positive, an HIV activist, and an advocate. Thamicha was diagnosed with HIV at the age of 19 years old. After accepting her diagnosis and turning her pain into power, Thamicha started her search for her purpose. In that search, she became an HIV/ testing counselor, risk reduction counselor, a client centered counselor, a transgender ally, a prEP counselor and a transitional life coach. She earned all of her state credentials from NJ Department of Health at Rutgers Training facility in New Brunswick NJ. She is also a B.C.L.A graduate. Ms. Isaac was coached and trained by Lakeisha Dixon, the breakthrough strategist. Often called upon to share her testimony of strength, resilience, courage and transformation, Thamicha is making a name for her cause through living and speaking her truth as an openly positive black Caribbean woman living in America with her handsome sons. Gudrun talked to Fioralba Cakoni about the Linear Sampling Method and Scattering. The linear sampling method is a method to reconstruct the shape of an obstacle without a priori knowledge of either the physical properties or the number of disconnected components of the scatterer. The principal problem is to detect objects inside an object without seeing it with our eyes. So we send waves of a certain frequency range into an object and then measure the response on the surface of the body. The waves can be absorbed, reflected and scattered inside the body. From this answer we would like to detect if there is something like a tumor inside the body and if yes where. Or to be more precise what is the shape of the tumor. Since the problem is non-linear and ill posed this is a difficult question and needs severyl mathematical steps on the analytical as well as the numerical side. In 1996 Colton and Kirsch (reference below) proposed a new method for the obstacle reconstruction problem in inverse scattering which is today known as the linear sampling method. It is a method to solve the above stated problem, which scientists call an inverse scattering problem. The method of linear sampling combines the answers to lots of frequencies but stays linear. So the problem in itself is not approximated but the interpretation of the response is. The central idea is to invert a bounded operator which is constructed with the help of the integral over the boundary of the body. Fioralba got her Diploma (honor’s program) and her Master's in Mathematics at the University of Tirana. For her Ph.D. she worked with George Dassios from the University of Patras but stayed at the University of Tirana. After that she worked with Wolfgang Wendland at the University of Stuttgart as Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow. During her second year in Stuttgart she got a position at the University of Delaware in Newark. Since 2015 she has been Professor at Rutgers University. We would be very pleased if many interested parties would contact us. This is the first of three conversation recorded Conference on mathematics of wave phenomena 23-27 July 2018 in Karlsruhe. Gudrun talked to Fioralba Cakoni about the Linear Sampling Method and Scattering. The linear sampling method is a method to reconstruct the shape of an obstacle without a priori knowledge of either the physical properties or the number of disconnected components of the scatterer. The principal problem is to detect objects inside an object without seeing it with our eyes. So we send waves of a certain frequency range into an object and then measure the response on the surface of the body. The waves can be absorbed, reflected and scattered inside the body. From this answer we would like to detect if there is something like a tumor inside the body and if yes where. Or to be more precise what is the shape of the tumor. Since the problem is non-linear and ill posed this is a difficult question and needs severyl mathematical steps on the analytical as well as the numerical side. In 1996 Colton and Kirsch (reference below) proposed a new method for the obstacle reconstruction problem in inverse scattering which is today known as the linear sampling method. It is a method to solve the above stated problem, which scientists call an inverse scattering problem. The method of linear sampling combines the answers to lots of frequencies but stays linear. So the problem in itself is not approximated but the interpretation of the response is. The central idea is to invert a bounded operator which is constructed with the help of the integral over the boundary of the body. Fioralba got her Diploma (honor’s program) and her Master's in Mathematics at the University of Tirana. For her Ph.D. she worked with George Dassios from the University of Patras but stayed at the University of Tirana. After that she worked with Wolfgang Wendland at the University of Stuttgart as Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow. During her second year in Stuttgart she got a position at the University of Delaware in Newark. Since 2015 she has been Professor at Rutgers University. Barbara is an officer and board member of The Lawyers' Committee for 9/11 Inquiry. Richard Gage, AIA became interested in researching the destruction of the WTC high-rises after hearing the startling conclusions of a reluctant 9/11 researcher, David Ray Griffin, on the radio in 2006, which launched his own unyielding quest for the truth about 9/11. On September 22 2011; 47 year old Barry Deloatch who was unarmed was shot by New Brunswick NJ police while being chased. Mr. Deloatch's family and friends are calling for a full on investigation into his death from outside sources so that they can get clear answers as to what went wrong and why a sensless shooting happened to begin with. This shooting along with other cop shootings is causing a alot of heartache in the community, especially with family and friends of the victims, who are left behind to try to make sense of these tragedies. Many are calling for an investigation into the NBPD, who has been a troubled police department for a long time, to seek understanding on why this corruption has been able to go on. What we are left with is a community who is tired of being sick  and tired and now demanding answers. You can join them on Oct 22 2011 for National Coalition Against Police Brutality Day.
