She lost to the CEO of the Free Zones Authority, Mike Oquaye Jnr who polled over 1194 while Adwoa Safo polled 328. A third candidate, Sheela Oppong Sakyi placed third with a little of 100 votes. The Dome-Kwabenya constituency witnessed an intense competition, featuring a three-way contest among Adwoa Safo, Dr. Mike Oquaye, and Sheela Oppong Sakyi. Los tiempos de la democracia” de Pamela Soto García (Herder, 2023) es un trabajo que analiza la obra de la gran filósofa española desde una perspectiva crítica respecto de la democracia. Pamela Soto es doctora en Filosofía e investigadora y coordinadora del Área de Desarrollo y Transferencia del Centro de Investigación para la Educación Inclusiva de Chile, de la Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. El empeño de la académica Pamela Soto García es desde el punto de vista emocional visibilizar a mujeres marginadas del currículum formativo de esta disciplina. Desde el punto de vista intelectual se autoimpone “el desafío de incorporar a las mujeres en mi trabajo y en bibliografías”, dice. La académica es parte de la Red de Filósofas Feministas, “un colectivo que nació en nació en 2021 y que busca una sociedad más justa y democrática. Su antecedente es el de Filósofas en contexto”, explica. Pamela es también parte de la directiva de la Asociación Chilena de Filosofía, que prepara un gran encuentro en noviembre de 2023, y sobre el cual entrega detalles en esta conversación junto a la periodista Vivian Lavín. “María Zambrano es probablemente la pensadora de habla hispana más influyente del siglo pasado. Sin embargo, a pesar de sus aportaciones fundamentales a la filosofía, sus contribuciones políticas no han recibido la atención editorial que merecen”, reza la contratapa de libro que forma parte de la Colección Rostros de la Filosofía Iberoamericana y el Caribe de la editorial Herder, que dirige el filósofo Ricardo Espinoza Lolas. Frente a la pregunta de qué es lo que ofrece el pensamiento de María Zambrano de manera tan especial que la llevó a dedicarle su atención, la autora responde que desde el año 1998, cuando comenzó a estudiarla, “me llamaba la atención que una mujer con una impronta política tan fuerte, con une exilio de más de 40 años y como filósofa política, no hablara de modelos de gobierno, sino que de las dinámicas que se dan en la sociedad”. En su estudio introductorio apunta: “Las notas de esta propuesta de lectura cruzan aspectos teóricos y políticos, que vinculan a María Zambrano a discusiones con filósofos de diversas épocas y al proceso político que va desde la organización de la Segunda República hasta la experiencia de exilio. A través de estos vectores se va articulando la particularidad de su filosofía”. Ortega y Gasset fue el maestro de la María Zambrano. Sin embargo, ella se distancia de su pensamiento político. La autora apunta: “Zambrano le reprocha su posición política porque considera que un intelectual debe ser un instrumento de lucha social y no un mero descriptor o mediador de lo que acontece”. Y es que María Zambrano fue parte de la escuela de Madrid, pero no es una repetidora de Ortega.Esto se ve en 1950, cuando discute con Ortega porque dice que el alma también construye el conocimiento que lee desde la perspectiva spinozista”. Haciendo una lectura situada de este libro, en el momento histórico que vive Chile y el proceso constituyente, este libro adquiere una lectura que se clava en lo profundo de una crisis democrática como una aguja dolorosa pero también incisiva, que nos obliga a preguntarnos sobre lo que somos y lo que hemos hecho con nuestro sistema político… y claro, también entrega las reflexiones hacia dónde dirigir las preguntas. Por lo mismo, este libro sobre el pensamiento político de María Zambrano nos invita a pensar en alternativas políticas, en la urgente construcción de democracias comunales, pensar la institucionalidad desde registros más acotados, pensar en otras formas políticas y la acción política como un deber para la filosofía porque podemos mejorar la vida de las personas”, sentencia. María Zambrano toma el ejemplo de las marchas para dar cuenta del carácter experiencial y material del tiempo desde su dimensión colectiva, que agrupan a los individuos por demandas políticas y sociales, “que marcan el tiempo común (…)Cada generación tiene su marcha, su ritmo que arrastra y uno que donde sea, porque el caso es marchar juntos, marchar con, hasta la muerte”.
