In this episode you're going to be hearing something I'm very excited to share with you - here's why. Last weekend, we had our ClarityLive event, and it was the best one yet. We had people joining us from all over the world, and there was an incredible sense of community, with lots of profound insights. Anyway, one of the things we did was I had ‘fireside chat' conversations with four Clarity Coaches who have been having a big impact in their clients lives. And my idea for this was that we would be talking shop; the kind of conversation that I have with my colleagues over coffee, and that most people never get to hear. So in this podcast, you're going to be hearing the first one of those, a conversation I had with coach and trainer, Chris Jackson. Just before we get to that, I wanted to mention that the doors are now open for the January 2022 intake of our flagship Clarity Certification Training programme. And you can save up to £3000 when you book your place by this Wednesday, June 30th. Just go to www.JamieSmart.com/coach Q: Would you like to join us? MASTERCLASS: Clarity Certification Unpacked: www.jamiesmart.com/unpacked - go here to reserve your free place As well as 'unpacking' the programme and answering your questions, I'm going to be showing you... - The 3 crucial distinctions behind principles-based coaching. - The single most important factor for experiencing a genuine transformation in your own life. - The secret to having a massive impact in the lives of others (the kind of impact clients are willing to pay top dollar for) - The keys to thriving in the online ‘transformation economy' It's going to be an impactful and informative session, and I'll be joined by some of my graduates so you can get their perspective too. There's going to be live Q&A; you'll be able to get answers to your questions from me personally. So whether you've been considering joining the programme, or you just want to have a nosey, it's going to be a great session. Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk. You’ll recognize yourself in these true-life stories from women who are walking their lives while their lives walk them and the lasting difference these journeys have made. I’m your host, Diane Wyzga.Today my guest Dafna Gold Melchior - podcaster, blogger and founder of Let's Clarify It! - who’s joining us from Jerusalem, Israel. Dafna is a Clarifier. As a clarifier Dafna teaches researchers and entrepreneurs (or “ResearchPreneurs” as she calls them) how to sharpen their message and communicate with clarity so they are prepared to clearly and concisely speak about the value of their work to high stakes audiences. What helps drive this mission? Dafna’s belief that “We're the happiest and most fulfilled when our work in the world is at the intersection where what we love meets our superpower.” For Dafna it means helping others toward crystal clear expression and collaboration. Welcome to the podcast, Dafna! Minutes 36:0000:00 to 1:56 Intro1:37 to 6:20 Start From Where You AreWhen we talked earlier you mentioned The Israel National Trail . I understand that the fellow who was inspired to create this national trail, Avraham Tamir, had himself hiked the Appalachian Trail on the East Coast of the US. If I met up with you there what’s the first thing I’d notice?Visiting Israel is a matter of when! In a very very small country we are very diverse, the scenery changes quickly and significantly You will meet a mosaic of people - a lot of diversityAnd if we had some time to walk along together what might I get to know about you?Dafna loves hiking!Like the host, from a large family: 2nd of 7 children, close to siblings, close to parents, married into big family, and also has family of 4 childrenFamily is core component of Dafna’s lifeHost is curious about the ways in which the culture which is influenced by family has further influenced Dafna’s lifeDafna generationally had friends with/without career momsKnew from a young age that she wanted to be a professional and be a mom; but where’s the balance? Is a struggleDafna’s original aspirations were different: expectations versus realityTell us more about that: 6:20 to 12:07 The Early Israeli Experience Moved from USA to Israel at age 7 and quite excited as a Jew and ZionistDafna told family she would be an officer in IDF (Israeli Defense Forces); how did she know that early on? No idea! IDF military service is compulsory for men and women in IsraelDafna’s professional aspirations: a singer; special ed teacher; by High School had need to serve by connecting them with one another and communication so she could be Israel’s Ambassador to United NationsWhat did she mean? Being a proud representative, loved diversity, travel, meeting peopleSpeaks French, literary Arabic, English and HebrewCollaboration is a key theme in Dafna’s lifeHost suggests that the under-current of life: community, bringing people together, commonality and similarity is a river under her life from beginningBelieves she always an inter-disciplinarian; what’s wrong with me? A little bit of this and that and also other thingsDafna’s birthday parties looked like an affirmative action committeeHost suggests that bringing people together who might be of interest to each other when someone (Dafna) brings them together and is still doing 12:07 to 16:40 Life Choice Gets Complicated: Professional Or....? Graduated high school, enrolled in Army, became an officer, married, went to university for political scienceMinistry of Foreign Affairs was attractive but family was much more soThe price people pay depending on their professional choicesBig decision: how to take partner and family into accountEver since then been trying to reconnect with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs job description without going awayHer road was re-directed to more communicationsHost suggests that these are awarenesses and understandings we don’t come to easily or lightlyOver 20 years sees the unfolding, the reflecting, the thru-line and happy with the journey16:40 to 23:05 “Clarify the message to amplify the impact.”You say that: "Many people aren't aware of the assumptions they make regarding what's known to others about their disciplinary-specific information. As a result Dafna chose to specialize in message sharpening with entrepreneurs and academic researchers, helping them craft and articulate their messaging, making their professional information accessible to their specific target audience."Q: Would you walk us through the conception and design of Let’s Clarify It! What was the spark that got you started in this direction?Spark began with not submitting the application to Foreign Ministry Affairs jobFirst job was the best! She became an assistant spokesperson for find this STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math)Journalist Dafna knew encouraged her to apply as assistantWas taught so much!Encountered astrophysicists up close and personal Learned the need to bridge the gap between the brilliant scientific minds to those who need to understand/comprehend the work, the value of it, the capital investmentsLearned how to write a press release, host a delegation, and more about communicationDiscovered the thru-line and for 20 years has helped people in X explain to people in Y: what do you do, why is it important, what does it have to do with what I do Everything Dafna has been doing led to this particular moment in time where she can serve as The ClarifierHost suggests that Dafna’s "Ah Ha!" with such delight is the prize at the end of the 20 year road23:05 to 26:50 Working With Clients to Get Them to SeeQ: How do you work with your clients to get them to “see.” "I gently help them become aware of where there may be comprehension and interpretation gaps using a metaphoric light purple highlighter marker, so that they can communicate more clearly and effectively with their audiences."Over time Dafna built a data base of relevant analogies and metaphors: What is it like - What does this - Who is it for - What is it for? What is a ResearchPreneur: a term coined by another professional to explain the evolving science/research position into entrepreneur positionWho is it for and what is it for: what if the scientist needs to pitch an idea to an investor? Emphasize business model as well as scienceDafna uses 1 field to explain an unfamiliar but perhaps related field with a medical example and drug delivery for cancerCompare and contrast: it’s like thisDafna also teaches that verbal communication is assisted, upgraded and made clearer with body language 23:50 to 28:45 High Stakes Public SpeakingThe preparation for high-stakes public speaking opportunity also includes clarifying who it’s for and what it’s for Funding and grants are key to carrying out next X years of research - constant grant application and funding searchesMoney helps the research and adds to the prestige of the researcher’s universityWhat if the researcher received a charitable gift and needs to speak about the gift and their research field in ways the audience can understandReaching the right investor and landing in the right fund folder can be the difference between success and not: launch, scale and develop the product 28:45 to 33:58 This Is Like That Host suggests that comprehension and interpretation gaps require a wealth of examples relying on metaphorsThe Big Bang Theory television series was a way to explain the characters, their work, their languageDafna starts with analogy to get her clients to translate language of their research: this is like that Once their message is sharpened, then what? They are ready to hone their presentation and delivery skills for any pitch, conference or high stakes opportunityQ: Where did you experience frustration as you were building this idea? The frustration - if at all - is a matter of being self-employed and finding the right projects (long term versus short term)Her work is never boringThrilling and privileged to work with very smart peopleNothing is wrong with me! Something is wrong with using people’s one amazing life in a boring static wayCOVID may have kicked open the door to more self-employmentWhat is common to this self-employed world: a lot of time is invested in building trust/relationship; therefore, how to scale the work is productS and serviceS so when the initial project naturally concludes there is more business for youTo be sustainable you might need to create options such as retainers; other longer-term projectsDafna’s work is very rewarding and loves working one-on-one with the researchers! The administration and logistics is something a solopreneur needs to be aware of 33:58 to 36:00 How Do Your Clients Find You? -> Join Us Next Week Thursday 15th April 2021 For Part 2!Here we are, at the end of the road but not the journey. Episode 11 Mark Hume is a former national correspondent for The Globe and Mail and is the author of five natural history books. His latest, Trout School - Lessons from a Fly-fishing Master, came out last year and he is currently working on a book to be published in the fall of 2021. Mark has fly fished in BC for 50 years and lives in Vancouver with his life-long partner, famed science writer, Margaret Munro. Full disclosure here, Marg is my life-long friend and I hope to have her on this show to talk about her national geographic work on Grizzly Bears.Q: Would you please tell us why you wrote Trout School? The book is about my relationship with Mo Bradley, a former fly-fishing guide, and innovative fly fisher in Kamloops British Columbia.I was up fishing in that area and came across a little pamphlet that he had written. who wrote a pamphlet for all the kids he was teaching to fly-fish. This was simple paper stapled between cardboard covers. He wrote this to help his fly-tying students. He helped kids and anyone in Kamloops interested in how to tie flies. When I read that little pamphlet, I thought it was such a great distillation of fly-fishing knowledge, I wanted to bring it to a larger audience because he had only printed a few hundred copies.I wanted to share that with people so I sat down with Mo and said we should republish this. But when I talked to book publishers they said, we need a bigger story.Over the years for more than a decade, whenever I fished with Mo I interviewed him about his techniques and methods. I learned a lot from Mo. I tried in the book to pass on that knowledge. What I really wanted to do is to encourage people to go fishing because it is such a restorative experience. And for those who fish already, I wanted them to slow down because that is one of Mo’s key’s to success. He moves so purposefully on the water and observes everything. As you know from forest bathing and walking in the woods, if you slow down you see more in nature. And in fishing you just become a better fisher. You see the insects, you become aware of the different life stages they are at. You start watching the birds – which a lot of people are not aware of – share a common food with the fish. So if you can figure out what the birds are eating, you can figure out what the fish are eating. When I advise people to slow down in fishing, I am doing the same thing that you doing in your book, for physical and mental health. So it has been very satisfying for both Mo and I, and we have heard from a lot of people that they are going fishing more, or a lot have taken up fishing because of the book.Q: A few of our listeners might be fly fishers, some that might try in the future, and some that would just like to know more about it. For those of us who know nothing about fly fishing can you give us little primer please? How and why does one fly fish? Is it always for trout? Catch and release? Fish barbless? Yes absolutely. It is kind of a daunting sport if you don’t have somebody to show you – hands on. It is a bit intimidating because you watch people fly fish and it is so graceful – and it’s like am I going to take up ballet at this late stage of my life? The technical aspects of fly casting are actually very easy to learn. When people ask me to show them, I have it down to 5 minutes. So if you are interested in fly fishing don’t let learning to cast put you off. In medium sized or large cities, they have fly casting lessons available right in the shops. The other side is the fishing side of it: learning all about fish and nature. I like to tell people:“ I can teach you to fly cast in five minutes, but you will spend the next 20 years learning to fly fish.” Find the complete episode transcription at Treesmendus.com

A: Starting seeds indoors is based on the your last average frost date so search growing zone with your zip code, 12 weeks before for peppers, onions leeks, tomatoes 8 weeks, brassicas 6 weeks, When to uncover your roses It is simply when the danger of freezing and thawing has passed so not yet it may be mid April or later when you will do this in zone 4. Pruning lilacs n early spring, before the buds open (April), or After the leaves have fallen in autumn (September, October) Lilacs form flower buds at the tips of branches during the previous growing season. This means that it is important to prune just under the panicles a week or two after the plant has finished blooming. If you prune the branch tips heavily or after the flower buds have formed, you will have fewer blooms next year. For the climbing roses time to prune is from autumn and through winter, while the rose is dormant. For your fruit trees early spring before buds break and trees are still dormant. Q:Is it best to germinate seeds before planting or do they work just as well without soaking? Q: Has anybody use coffee grounds as mulch around tomato plants? listen to a podcast yesterday and they were talking about how good this is for tomatoes A: Coffee grounds contain about 2% N and less then 1% of P and K. You need to work them in the ground in order to get they NPK. It is a great food for worms and to build up the organic matter in your garden. Using coffee grounds as mulch is not good as it forms a hard covering over the soil and prevents water from getting to the plant it acts much like a brick on mulch on the soil Q: I just started seeds and now I have tiny flies all around the soil is this normal and what should I do? A: Those are Fungus gnats normal in all soil 2 things that you can do one spray them with soapy water and 2 sprinkle cinnamon over the soil, just a dusting is contains anti fungal properties and will help keep what gates that are not dead away Q: How many pole beans plants can you plant in a 5 gall bucket? How many Bush beans per 5 gallon bucket? Thanks A: you can get 9 bush bean in a 5 gallon bucket and 8 pole beans this if calculated by the square foot gardening method and a buck is approx 1 sq foot. Q: if my potatoes have sprouted from last year harvest but they are small will I still get good sized potatoes this year. A: It is hard to say you really want a seed potato to be no smaller then a medium size chicken egg. Heirloom Seed – an old cultivar that is "still maintained by gardeners and farmers particularly in isolated or ethnic communities". These may have been commonly grown during earlier periods in human history, but are not used in modern large-scale agriculture Organic - have been produced entirely through organic practices by a certified organic operation. In order to be sold as such, they must be produced by such a facility which has been certified by an accredited government agency - Hybrid – the deliberate crossing of two different parent varieties from the same species. A hybrid can be produced organically. This does not mean genetically modified. We recommend heirloom and organic varieties. We find this produces the best vegetables that best adapt to the environment that they are in. F1 and F2 Seeds This will result in the hybrid seeds the breeders are after, and they're known as “F1” seeds, or first generation seeds. F1 seeds will be the most stable of any seeds that follow it in future generations, and those generations will be known as “F2” seeds, “F3” seeds, and so forth as more seeds are made Gmo seeds Genetically modified crops are plants used in agriculture, the DNA of which has been modified using genetic engineering methods. In most cases, the aim is to introduce a new trait to the plant which does not occur naturally in the species Note: You can not buy GMO seeds for you garden In segment two Joey and Holly ask the question how effective is companion plating? https://www.gardenmyths.com/companion-planting-truth-myth/ author Robert Pavlis Here is what the definition is for companion planting Companion planting in gardening and agriculture is the planting of different crops in proximity for any of a number of different reasons, including pest control, pollination, providing habitat for beneficial insects, maximizing use of space, and to otherwise increase crop productivity And that is one of the problems with this topic. There is no single accepted definition. If we can’t agree on what it is, how can we debate its existence? I’ve taken a definition from the North American Permaculture Magazine, and modified it to include the case where only one plant receives a benefit; “a type of polyculture, where two or more plant types are grown together because at least one of them shows improved growth due to the presence of the others.” No scientific proof that companion planting If I plant some corn and climbing beans together, the corn provides structure for the beans to climb up and that is good for the beans. This example is quite clear and it certainly demonstrates that companion planting works. Lettuce likes to grow cool and by mid summer it needs extra shade to stay cool or it bolts. Planting it behind larger tomato plants provides a cooler environment. Again a good example of companion planting that works. It is kind of pointless to have a debate about whether or not companion planting works – I just gave two examples to show it does work. The problem is that just because it works in these two cases does not mean that the hundreds of other examples also work. Planting marigolds to reduce root knot nematodes is a very common suggestion. It does work, provided that you match the right species of marigold with your crop, and you first grow the marigold and then in the same season immediately follow it with the crop, something only possible in warm climates. For this reason it does not work for most gardeners. Most of the examples of companion planting promoted for gardeners have NOT been tested. The reality is that research money is tight and when it is available, it will be used for agricultural situations – not home gardens. Most suggestions have no scientific basis. Many times it is just stuff made up to sell advertising, sell a book or promote an individuals idea. I had a look at one of the books that made this topic very popular; Carrots Love Tomatoes by Louise Riotte. It contains absolutely no scientific evidence for the claims and most combinations don’t even have logical explanations as to why they work – they just do. And yet those claims have been repeated millions of times as if they are fact. Is segment three Joey and Holly talk with their guest Joe Lamp'l https://joegardener.com/ https://www.growingagreenerworld.com/ As one of the country’s most recognized and trusted personalities in gardening and green-living, that passion for living a greener life is evident to a nationwide audience who watches Joe Lampl in his current role as Creator, Executive Producer and Host of the multi-award-winning PBS series, Growing a Greener World. He is also an author, blogger, and more! 1. many people have trees on their property, can tree trimming still be done now? Or when is the best time to trim? B. What is the most common mistake when it come to tree trimming, 2. We talk about killer compost every time you come on the show but it is worth repeating?. What is killer compost and you had to deal with it personally in your raised beds to share what happened. 3.we are getting closer to planting each day. Is there any truth to you can plant things closer than recommended in a raised bed than in the ground because you have really good soil in the raised beds ? 4.we try to start as many of the plants we grow from seed but we do pick up plants from our independent garden center and there is nothing wrong with that. What are a few tips you can share when it comes to pick out and buying plants. 5.. Let talk about your show that is how most know you from, the show Growing A Greener world has been around for 10 seasons now. In those 10 seasons what has been a couple your personal wow moments? People you have met or what they have done with their world or place you have been to? 6. Where can people find more about you ? In segment four Joey and Holly answer gardeners questions" Q: Would you grow Strawberry and or Blue berries in containers Q: When is a good time to start seed in zone 4? when can I uncover my buried rose bush? when can I prune my Lilacs and climbing rose and fruit trees? YUBIK on: - Facebook: www.facebook.com/yubikmusic - SoundCloud: @yubik HOW I MET THE BASS on: - Facebook: www.facebook.com/howimetthebass - Mixcloud: www.mixcloud.com/HowIMetTheBass - Spotify: spoti.fi/2KipBo7 3 QUESTIONS to YUBIK: Q: Tell us more about your mix please. How did these pearls find the way to your ears once? A: Deep waves are the basic structure of a song. It is only through them that the musical work of art finds its perfection. Over time, some of these works of art will accompany you and broaden your musical horizons. While some songs give me inspiration to work on my own songs, others help me relax and offer me the contrast in order to feel free and make room for new thoughts. For this reason I tried to find a mix of the dynamic range between slow and fast. The people around you and the places where you are play a big role in answering the question of how these special pearls made it into my set. Isn't it always the case that the music that stays in your head is always connected to something? For example: a feeling or a memory, a past moment, it can be anything. So everyone tells their own story. And that's mine. Q: Would you still play some of them inside your sets? A: Most of these songs are well suited for a spherical warm up set. So if the situation is right, why not. Q: Which future Yubik projects are currently in the making? A: I am currently working intensively in the studio. There is still a new release on the label "Atlant" in the first quarter and I am sure that 2020 will still provide some surprises. With this in mind, thank you to Marc DePulse for the opportunity to be part of this wonderful format.
I'm very excited to share with you a little bit more on how I actually get paid to find my leads. In the past, I have taught this concept several times… But I wanna share with you some more examples. When I was going around talking to a bunch of friends and family… And I was doing exactly what I was supposed to do… I'm not bad mouthing that, you understand? There's nothing wrong with talking to friends and family. Where I have the issue is before you even approach them, when you know, "Hey, they're not gonna be a great fit," but you go forward anyway. Or you have to convince them in. Have you ever noticed that those are the people that you have to hold a cattle prod to their back to get them to do anything. I don't want that kind of individual. I want somebody who WANTS to be in, who WANTS to be a runner, who is ready to work. And who actually WANTS to build a real asset… And not just a little money on the side. I WANT actual runners, people who are looking to build a business. GENERATING LEADS WITH FRONT-END PRODUCTS Every business needs leads. So what do you do? That was the issue I ran into. I remember when I finally walked through my entire list, and there were multiple times I wrote out 240 people… And I was like, "Look at all these people. Oh, my gosh. And if they got even a fifth of that... " And you start playing the percentage game. "What island will I buy?" I joke about that, but that was one of the things that I was like, "Holy cow." And it was one of the things that I was super concerned about when it suddenly wasn't working 'cause I was like, "Where else do I get my leads from? I have no idea where to get my leads." And suddenly the business was dead and I couldn't talk to anybody. This is something that, if you've not run into in the past... You're gonna run into it. If you don't figure out a lead machine, if you don't figure out a lead system, it's going to DIE. Every business that does not have consistent leads and cash flow dies. Those are the two numbers you should always watch. How many leads am I getting? Actual leads. Not just like, "I'm kinda interested." Qualified leads. Track them every month. We started doing that on a white board. When we started actually tracking the leads, for some reason without me even consciously doing more, we doubled the next month. Then after that it was like, another 50% higher than that… Just by us tracking it. I encourage you to start tracking the amount of leads coming in. ACQUIRING CUSTOMERS WITH FRONT-END PRODUCTS I wanna share with you ONE of my absolute favorite ways to not only get leads, but also get them faster while not having to pay for them. ' You need to understand a principle that all of us Internet marketers understand… Whoever can pay the most to acquire a customer wins. You can even have a worse product, but be able to spend more to acquire customer profitably, and you will WIN against the people who have better products. It's ONE of the major reasons why, when big MLMs say things like, "The product's so great, just go get it in front of the people and it sells itself." That might be true to a very small percentage of people… But the reality is, if I can spend $50 to acquire a customer and you can only spend $5, I am going to dominate you, even with a worse product. That’s why you have to think about this like, "Okay, so how do I actually make a lead machine?" All I do is teach people how to make lead machines, and wait for them to qualify themselves and say, "You know what, I am interested, Stephen. I'm interested in whatever you're doing. Let me come over and start chatting with you." I have some numbers here and what I don't want this to be is like, "Look at Stephen showing all the numbers of all the stuff he's making." Could you raise your hand right now and be like, "I will not get offended". FRONT-END PRODUCTS ARE UNAFFILIATED WITH MLM I wanna share with you real life stats of things that I'm actually doing… This is just ONE of my products that is actually generating leads for me. Qualifying them and teaching the ones are a good fit. I'm not saying that they're not good if they don't join my downline… Some of them already have one, which is great, they should stay in theirs. I'm not trying to pull from other places. That's not what I'm doing here. What I'm saying is there's a group of people who are already unhappy with what they're in. There's a certain kind of ‘moon's aligned’ individual. Q: Is it everybody? A: No… And it shouldn't be. What I do is create these front-end products that are unaffiliated with my MLM. It doesn't even say what I'm in. It's unaffiliated. I don't teach their stuff I'm not selling their products I don't do anything … I have something literally in the front here. I don't talk about it, I'm not speaking about it, I'm not saying the name of the product. I'm not even alluding. I keep my nose so clean. I'm not saying what it is that I'm actually in… And I know it drives some of you guys crazy. But that's the point! I create these front-end products that attract the dream person that I would love to have inside my downline. WHAT FRONT-END PRODUCTS DOES YOUR DREAM CUSTOMER WANT? It's gonna be really hard to attract your dream customer or your dream downline member if you don't even know what that looks like. Get good at defining what your dream is… And we talk a lot more about that. If you're liking this stuff, go to secretmlmhacks.com and grab the program. So I’ve got my dream customer… And what I'm gonna go do is figure out what this person is struggling with. I'm gonna figure out what things they're having a hard time with. Maybe they haven't gotten over their fear of talking to somebody. How can I make a general product (meaning it's not MLM company specific) teaching people how to overcome their fear of speaking to people? What I do is list a whole bunch of problems… Problems and problems and problems and problems and problems and problems… I go through and I look to see the ones that I could solve, like, "Oh, you know what, I actually know what it's like to be afraid of speaking to people, here's how I got over that." What if I was to film a small little course and sell that for a little bit of money? SELL IT… Don't give it away for free. Now I have a product that’s NOT affiliated with my MLM. It doesn't say the name, it doesn't say the product, no alluding… There's no cross-over. All I'm doing is I am creating actual value. THE LARSEN DEFINITION OF ‘VALUE’ What IS value? Value is when you solve a legitimate, expensive problem. It has to be expensive because you need to get paid; this is capitalism. It has to be legitimate because it can't be like, "Well, it's a serious issue." In one of my favorite Shark Tank episodes ever, the reason why they didn't wanna take the time of day to listen to this lady is because they were like, "You didn't solve an actual issue here. You just made an interesting trinket." Then she was like, "No, it's a real problem." They're like, "It's not a real problem, it's like a cute thing." You have to solve an actual issue. Value is solving a legitimate, expensive problem. How can I cause value in whatever they're doing? I want them to have success in their thing. Then I'm gonna solve these and make my own products and sell them because it's capitalism. Then I'm gonna make this big old list of people who are buying and not buying... You have buyers and people who just opted in and didn't actually purchase… Then I'm gonna keep providing value to the buyers (I'm gonna sell them the next thing), the people who just opted in (I'm gonna get them to try to buy the current thing). What it allows me to do is spend ad money. I don't take profit from these things, that's not the point. ADS FOR FRONT-END PRODUCTS The point is the recoup ad cost, because if I can spend money on ads... And I got ads, ads, ads… I can talk to so many more dream people than those who are not spending ads. Money moves faster than time. So I'm gonna go spend money on ads… Then they're gonna come pay me money, and I'm just gonna recycle it right back into the ads. What it's doing is spitting out a list of qualified people who have said, "I'm really actually serious about this." The mentality of somebody who spends nothing versus $1 is so much different. FREE versus $1 is the longest road ever. That's why I can sell something that is super cheap. This is how I do it. Now I got a list of people who are buyers and I'm gonna ask them to buy the next thing, the next thing, the next thing. I'm not talking about MLM or about the products. I'm not alluding to the products, I'm not trying to be sneaky, I'm not trying to ride the line as much as I can. The reason I'm walking through this again because we've noticed this is one of the MAJOR questions people have, and they get stressed out about it. Just keep it simple. All I'm doing is… Making a product Solving a legitimate issue in the marketplace that people pay for that is completely unaffiliated with my MLM WHAT IS A SELF-LIQUIDATING OFFER? We call this process a self-liquidating offer. Meaning, I'm gonna make an offer but it self-liquidates. I'm not selling it to go make a bunch of money and take it, I'm only doing it so that I can spend more on ads that attracts my dream customer. All I do is I make a cool product that only my dream customer would be interested in. I wanna talk to ONLY those people who have had a hard time, a scary time with talking to people. They have a hard time with opening their mouth, they don't know what to say in front of people, they clam up. If you like this, again, go to secretmlmhacks.com and buy the program. **This is my blatant pitch** As we've gotten further down the show, I'm more blatantly pitching it because it's in the program! Just go to the program. I can't give you EVERYTHING on this podcast. When you say… What: Is my dream customer? Issues are they having? Are those are legitimate and valuable and expensive problems that I can actually solve? Then I'm gonna go in and make that, and I'm gonna make it really awesome. I'm gonna over-deliver. I want a reputation for delivering more value than they bought… Which is what I do, and why my offers are so huge, and why I put so much stuff in them to help you and actually accelerate the success with it. ADDING VALUE TO YOUR FRONT-END PRODUCTS I'm gonna pump tons and tons of stuff in there… Then they're like, "Man, this guy's really helping me." They come and they purchase. They buy the product, and then I'll have a list of people who bought it, and those who didn't (and that's okay)... But the buyers list might buy the next thing. All that's doing is feeding the pot of ads. And those who opted in, maybe they just need to hear more of my stuff. Let's send them to the podcast. There's always people who reach out and say, "Stephen, dude, whatever you're in, I just wanna join it because I like the structure that you're giving." And I'm like, "Cool." Q: Did I outbound pitch? A: No. Q: Did I talk about my MLM in these ads? A: Heck, no. Q: Did I talk about my MLM in these products? A: Absolutely not. It's a separate island… And that's why it works so well. MY SELF-LIQUIDATING OFFER STATS I wanted to share with you a few numbers on this… So you can see how powerful the principle really is . It's life changing. It changes the entire MLM model (and there's nothing wrong with that). It's multi-level marketing. That doesn't mean you can't use actual tactics that are used in other businesses. One of the products that I sell is the Secret MLM Hacks product. I just wanna share with you some of the numbers on this… So that you can see me doing this in live action. What I have over here is a dream customer… And I have my MLM downline. REMEMBER: it's its own island… Not talking about it, not sharing anything about it, keeping it separate, keeping it separate. As of right now (me recording this) the program is $997. We are increasing the price to $1,500 (if not $2,000) soon. The ONLY reason why is because we have found that the person who is our dream customer, they're already at a certain level of success. It's fine if you're new, and we have options for you if you can't afford that kind of thing (and that's totally fine). The other reason is because I have a lot of people who come in now and are hoping to fulfill on it. I have to pay them too. I'm gonna show you gross numbers. This is not the actual profit numbers. I've been selling Secret MLM Hacks for over a year and a half now. I'll just grab the most recent year… [Right now it's July 26th… So I grab July 26th through the beginning of July 2018. July 2018, July 2018 through 2019.] HOW MUCH MONEY DO MY FRONT-END PRODUCTS MAKE? I printed my stats sheet right before I got on this… We got $429,000. The earnings per click, we're getting $54 per click (which is pretty awesome). And the average cart value is $1,157. … Meaning for every purchaser of Secret MLM Hacks, even though it's a $997 product, we're actually getting MORE than that. And I wanna share with you guys WHY, and why this is such a powerful principle. I want you to look at and be like, "How can I also?" NOT, "I don't qualify." It's, "How can I?" Just in the last year, we haven't spent that much on ads. I'm gonna walk through a few numbers on this. So we have $429,000. There's a principle here that I want you to understand… The last few podcast episodes I've done on this show have been a lot more informational and instructional… But there's still from a 30,000 ft view… And it's just so that you understand more of what I'm doing. A few people will be like, "You can't do that." Well, I am doing it. And NO, I'm not the only one doing it. I didn't invent this. I observed, and I'm just doing the same, and now I'm LOUD about it. FRONT-END PRODUCT BUYERS AND NON-BUYERS So we have a list of people who just opted in, and then we have a list of people who are our buyers. These are pretty good numbers. There's a metric us, in the internet marketing space, follow. The metric is that for every person… You usually make $1 per person, per month on your list. If you're bad. In the last year 46,000 people have seen the webinar registration page but 22,000 people actually opted in. That's a 48% registration rate. We have 22,000 people who opted in. Because there's always people who opt out (and that's part of the game) we have 20,000 people on that list. About 2,000 people have opted. I'm not the only fish in the pond, man. Go follow someone else. Now, there's one other piece to this… We have spent about $70,000 in ads and have $429,000 in revenue… Which is pretty awesome. Think about this... Q: Would you spend $70,000 to generate $400,000? A: Absolutely. Absolutely. Let me think about this here real quick though. Okay, so... Boom. That's in revenue. This is an SLO. I'm gonna go create a cool piece of value which teaches something amazing. There's no pitch but they come and they ask to join my downline. I'm just driving ads to this. We've spent $70,000 in ads, in the last year we've generated $429,000. I'm kinda kicking myself because I'm like, "That could be way bigger." CHATBOT SELF-LIQUIDATING OFFER We created a self-liquidating offer… And it's a Chatbots thing. In the last year we've had 957 people purchase our $57 thing. That's a revenue of $54,500. $54,000 in SLO revenue. $70,000 - $54,000 = $16,000 $16,000 on ads to generate around $400,000 in cash. We've had 371 purchases of Secret MLM Hacks in the last year. We have a whole product here that is basically paying for our ads. We're almost completely removing our ad cost by having this self-liquidating offer. It's a Chatbots thing that says, "Hey, this isn't the actual thing that you're going to, but if you wanted it's kinda cool." 957 people have paid $57. That's $54,000. I wanna run one more number by you… This is what real marketers on the internet actually look at. What I'm talking about right now is marketing math. Come learn how to do that, Secret MLM Hacks. We do about $2-$3 per person per month on this list. The whole point of the episode is for you to see some live examples. Secret MLM Hacks is $997 right now. We're gonna increase the price. The chatbots thing is $57... And I'll have a whole episode about that in the future. What's interesting is, in the last quarter, it's $160,000 (in the last three months). AVERAGE CART VALUE OF FRONT-END PRODUCTS When somebody buys Secret MLM Hacks, how much money is actually coming through per person? What's interesting is the average cart value is above $997. It's actually $1,146. What does that tell us? For every four chatbot sales, we're getting ONE Secret MLM Hacks sale. Isn't that crazy? In the last week we spent two or three grand on ads, but it generated $13,000. I'm just giving you guys some real life numbers. Guess what? I don't know how to drive Facebook ads. I don't need to know how to drive Facebook ads. Honestly, I don't know how to do most of the things that my business does. To be an entrepreneur, it's not to be an expert in everything. Just go find the who that knows the how and orchestrate it. We are actually almost completely liquidating right now. Those numbers I showed you over the last year, they've improved since a year ago. The numbers now are waaay better than the numbers even a year ago. For every dollar going in, we get three or four bucks out? Tell me another investment vehicle that can do that. You know another place that can give you 400%? I challenge you to go and get Secret MLM Hacks. Go to secretmlmhacks.com. FIND PEOPLE TO PITCH WITH FRONT-END PRODUCTS I know it's tough to find people to pitch after your warm market dries up, right? That moment when you finally run out of family and friends to pitch. I don't see many up lines teaching legitimate lead strategies today. After years of being a lead funnel builder online I got sick of the garbage strategies most MLMs have been teaching their recruits for decades. Whether you simply want more leads to pitch or an automated MLM funnel, head over to secretmlmhacks.com and join the next FREE training. There you're gonna learn the hidden revenue model that only the top MLMers have been using to get paid regardless if you join them. Learn the 3-step system I use to auto recruit my downline of big producers WITHOUT friends or family even knowing that I'm in MLM. If you want to do the same for yourself, head over to secretmlmhacks.com. Again that’s secretmlmhacks.com.

How did you meet the bass once and what do these tracks mean to you? A: Meeting the bass happened over time, but it all came down to my older brother. He is an amazing musician and has always been a huge inspiration to me. I remember watching him producing music and thinking: “Wow that looks cool. One day I will be that cool”. He is the reason I downloaded my first music software. I wanted to dedicate the opening minutes to him with the title track of his debut album called ‘Wordless Poem for Fiona’. He is also the one that gifted me my first electronic album, an album by Kraak & Smaak. Think that is when I met the bass for the first time, I was 9 around the time. When I was 17 I switched from singing and playing the guitar and drum for producing. This eventually lead to me to applying for the Conservatory in Rotterdam as a producer a year later. Here I was making more breakbeat kind of music. The remix of ‘I Can’t Feel My Face’ is a track that I made during that time. But during this time I slowly started listening to more four-to-the-floor type tracks. I think that started with a pretty big obsession with Bonobo, which never went away. He still is one of my biggest examples in the electronic scene. Slowly my taste moved to the one and only Joris Voorn with his album ‘Nobody Knows’. I think this was my first real introduction to deep house music. After this I came in contact with the melodic geniuses Worakls and Bodzin. I decided to quit the conservatory around this time, because a professional career in music never felt as a possibility. Up until this point I had never made a single deep house or techno track. I clearly remember walking into the main stage tent at DGTL festival in Amsterdam. As soon as I enterend Adriatique dropped ‘Surge’ by Patrice Bäumel. I was so overwhelmed and inspired that the next day I made my very first techno track. This is when I really met the bass. With this first track I came in contact with Reinier Zonneveld and six months later my debut EP ‘Equivalence’ got released. I can say with confidence that ‘Surge’ changed my life. My second EP, ‘Ya Amar’, got released on Joris Voorns imprint Green and really launched my career. Within a year I went from meeting the bass to releasing on the imprint of one of my heroes. Who would have thought. Looking at all these tracks, there is one thing that they all have in common, which still influences all my tracks today, and that is melody and lots of emotions. Ending the set with one of the people that does it best: Ben Böhmer. I think music has the power to bring out the deepest emotions in people. Take you away for a moment, if you let it. It is a power that can be felt by every single person. To answer the question: these tracks mean everything to me. They lead me to where I am today and I couldn’t be more grateful. Q: Would you still play some of those tracks? A: At home, all the time! The second part of the set I would definitely play out in DJ sets. Q: Which future Mees Salome projects are on the way? What can we expect later this year? A: A lot! I have been working on a lot of new original music, talking to some of my favourite labels and artists. I’ve got a few great tours planned abroad. There also are some interesting and exciting plans for my podcast Distant in the making. So, lots of cool stuff coming!

How did you find and select all those old records in your collection? A: Of course I remember the songs that influenced me in those early days. We‘ve had only a few CDs we listened to the whole time, mostly in the car or before partying. I remember there where a few people carrying lots of GB of recorded underground sets around, we were so glad when we got our hands on at least some of the stuff. Q: Would you still play some of these tracks? A: I def would. That Miss Kittin and The Hacker tune is a masterpiece if u ask me, some of the tracks are not really my sound anymore but what is anyway?! Q: Looking into 2019: What are your plannings, which exciting projects are you working on? A: I recently started working on new club music planned to be released in 2019. Also I‘m moving out of Berlin for a while for the first time in my life. Excitiiing!

A: They were massive for me. I was still a teenager but my love for Electronic Music was obvious. They still influence me so much and what's amazing too find out is how those producers were influenced too. Q: Would you still play some of these tracks in your sets? A: As I play House it would be difficult to play the serious drum and bass but the 4/4 stuff would work for sure. So yes I would. Q: Which future projects are on the way? A: Loads. Over the next few months I'm gigging in London, Amsterdam at ADE and Leeds. Musically my current release "Orange 92" which is on Lee Foss label Repopulate Mars is doing well. I'm just finishing some other music of for Glasgow Underground and Under No Illusion.

I'm Pepe Calvo, a 51 years old (51-year-old) self-taught English student. I started to learn English on my own in my mid-forties and thanks to the Internet and the help from podcasts like yours I think I'm getting it. From the beginning I also started to practise with English natives, who are retired and live nearby, and it was tough but now I'm really proud to be able to follow a conversation more or less fluently. I don't spend any time studying, nor do I do exercises and things like that, I think the key is to listen to English - the more you can, the better, and in addition, speak, read, write and watch (documentaries are my favourites) in English as much as you can. I call it "my little linguistic immersion" and I think it works, doesn't it?Nowadays, I am listening to your podcasts but I'm not up to date with them yet and I'm wondering if you’ve already got the ‘dulce de leche’ recipe, have you? A: We were founded in 2011 by three partners, former Kingsoft chief financial officer Kevin Wang, Koubei.com's founder Frank Lee, and myself. We focus on making early-stage investments in the technology sector in China, and have invested in numerous companies. Some of our more well known portfolio companies include Kuaidi, or now Didi Kuaidi, Mogujie, and the merged Meituan Dianping. Q: That's three unicorns right there, but we will talk about that later. You also had an interesting career before co-founding Ameba. Can you tell us a bit more? A: I was born and grew up in Malaysia, but also worked and lived in Australia, Hong Kong and Beijing. I joined Alibaba in 2005, when the company had slightly over 1,000 employees. By the time I left, Alibaba had over 20,000 employees. I was involved in Yahoo's investment in Alibaba, Alibaba.com's Hong Kong initial public offering in 2007, and Alipay's restructuring, during a period of the company's rapid growth. Q: What did that experience teach you about investing as a venture investor? A: I realized that a company is very much like any other living form. It grows and changes. I was dealing with issues and transactions signifying the stage of growth the company was in. Now as an investor in small start-ups, I'm dealing with early-stage growth similar to a child's growth. I was able to use my experience at Alibaba to help start-ups enter their next phase of expansion, and help them solve the challenges in that process. Q: Ameba Capital closed a second fund, bringing total asset-under-management to RMB1 billion (US$160 million). How was the fundraising process? A: It didn't take that long. The fund was filled up just from commitments from existing investors to our first fund. My partners and I are still the single largest group of investors in the fund. Q: Would you consider raising a U.S. dollar fund? A: I will never rule that out, but the capital markets in China have changed a lot during the past year. RMB as a form of investment currency will become more important, especially in the tech world. When I started Ameba, it was rare to see RMB-denominated institutions investing in technologies because a lot of capital was from U.S. dollar funds, and exits were all overseas. But that is changing rapidly. There are more exits domestically, also more M&A happening among domestic firms. Q: So you see more RMB funds to be raised, more domestic listings and deals happening in the future? A: Yes, we will see that both in early-stage and late-stage investments. I think that's very healthy, and it shows that our format has worked. Q: How much do you invest per deal, and how many companies have you invested in total? A: For our second fund, we invest in pre-A and series A rounds, so from a few million RMB to tens of millions RMB. Cumulatively, we have backed around 60 companies. Q: In terms of strategy, will there be any changes from your previous focus on e-commerce, corporate services, advertising, etc.? A: We will continue our strategy to focus on the data aspect of e-commerce, a very niche market of advertising. We also like a few verticals such as healthcare and education. Our sector focus hasn't really changed, but the companies operating in these areas have changed...
Teach children to be true to themselves at all times and, since they cannot please everybody, therefore to do a good job of pleasing themselves. Q That is an imposing list, but it seems conspicuous by the fact it ignores practically every subject now taught in the public schools. Was that intended? A Yes. You asked for a list of suggested changes in public school curricula which would benefit children-well, that is what you got. Q Some of the changes you suggest are so unorthodox they would shock most of the educators of today, wouldn't they? A Most of the educators of today need to be shocked. A good sound shock often helps the brain that has been atrophied by habit. Q Would the changes you suggest for the public schools give children immunity against the habit of drifting? A Yes, that is one of the results the changes would bring, but there are others too.
