A lot of podcasters stay busy because busy feels productive, but there's a difference between constantly posting content and building something listeners actually return to. The morning show cast and crew talk about why so many creators feel stuck even while publishing nonstop, and how growth often comes down to knowing your audience instead of chasing every trend. There's also a bigger conversation about patience, strategy, and whether the work filling your schedule is truly helping your show move forward. By the end, you may start asking yourself: are you growing your podcast or just staying busy?Episode Highlights:[03:24] Survey Stats on Podcast Growth[06:06] Audience First with Ralph[11:00] Less Content, Bigger Milestones[15:53] Escaping the Hamster Wheel of Growth[18:48] Monetization Backwards Explained[26:21] Why Podcasting Feels Harder Now[29:43] Consistency Alone Is Not Enough[31:31] Stop Chasing Algorithms[33:01] Get Them and Keep Them[51:02] What Is Working Right NowLinks & Resources:RSS.com Podcast Hosting:https://rss.com/blog/podcaster-insights-survey/Ralph's blog post link:https://www.contentcreatorsaccountant.com/blog/is-podcasting-dead/Feature Your Podcast on the Podcasting Morning Show:https://PodcastingMorningShow.com/spotlightThe Podcasting Morning Show:www.podcastingmorningshow.comWays to Watch or Listen: https://www.podcastingmorningshow.com/joinus/Meet the PMS Cast and Crew:https://podcastingmorningshow.com/peopleJoin The Empowered Podcasting Facebook Group:www.facebook.com/groups/empoweredpodcastingBook A Free Call With Marc:https://calendly.com/ironickmedia/freestrategycallApplication To Submit Your Show For Evaluation:https://podcastingmorningshow.com/evalJoin us every other Monday at 8 AM ET for the Obsession Worthy Podcasts:http://podcastingmorningshow.com/owp/Join us LIVE every weekday morning at 8 am ET (US) on Clubhouse: https://podcastingmorningshow.com/clubhouseEPC3 Speaker Application: https://empoweredpodcasting.com/speakersPowered by iRonickMedia.com and ContentCreatorsAccountant.comSend in your mailbag questions: https://www.podcastingmorningshow.com/contact/ or marc@ironickmedia.comWant to be a guest on The Podcasting Morning Show? Welcome to the latest episode of LIFTS, your bite-sized dose of the latest fitness industry trends and stories. In this episode, hosts Matthew Januszek and Mohammed Iqbal explore one of the most important shifts in the fitness industry today: technology is no longer just a support function, it's a core driver of growth. Joined by Al Noshirvani, Executive Chairman of Alta Technology Group, the conversation dives into how operators should rethink their approach to AI, payments, and platform decisions. While the industry is flooded with new tools and innovations, a deeper challenge is emerging beneath the surface. Many operators are investing in technology without clearly understanding whether it delivers measurable impact. Al introduces a simple but powerful framework: every technology decision should enhance the member experience, increase staff productivity, or contribute to the bottom line. Ideally, it should do all three. The discussion explores how AI is often overemphasised in customer-facing features, while the real opportunity lies behind the scenes automating operations such as collections, onboarding, and staff training. It also examines how payments have evolved from a back-office necessity into a strategic lever that impacts revenue, retention, and customer trust. The conversation also highlights the growing importance of platform strategy. As businesses scale, operators must ensure their technology is configurable, flexible, and extensible otherwise they risk being locked into systems that limit future growth. As the episode develops, the panel reinforces a critical insight: technology should not be pursued for its own sake. The operators who win will be those who focus on outcomes using technology to drive better experiences, stronger operations, and sustainable revenue growth. In this episode, we cover: The 3 tests every fitness technology decision must pass Why most AI in fitness is missing the point Where AI is actually creating operational value How payments became a strategic lever in fitness The risks of choosing the wrong technology platform Why configurability, flexibility, and extensibility matter How to think about technology as a revenue driver—not a cost What operators should demand from their tech partners

How would you feel after your sister told you that " mom wished she could have left you at the hospital after you were born." Well that was a crushing blow to my guest, but because of the help from her grandparents, Precious was able to mend her broken heart. At the age of 15, Precious moved into her grandparents house and under their loving roof, she began to heal. Her paternal grandmother, also named Precious (Delores Williams), taught her daily affirmations for positive reinforcement. The teen was never allowed to wander out in the street not left at home alone. She began to do well in school and eventually went to Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia with the support as the very first recipient of a Bill and Melinda Gates scholarship. And Precious didn't stop her education at the undergraduate level. She went on to get her law degree. And the rest is history."My grandparents gave me life, they loved me to life. They took a cold hard-core teenager and turned her into a moosh. My grandmother spiritually birthed me."Best Selling Books by Precious*#1 Best Seller "Bad Bitches and Power Pitches: For Women Entrepreneurs and Speakers Only"*The Perfect Pitch: How to Win Over Any Audience and Get Them to Buy From You Now!!!*"Pitching For Profit-the Bad Bitches Play Book To Convert Conversations Into Currency"Here is the Amazon Kindle Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08XLMZQJV?ref_=pe_3052080_276849420Or the Hand-signed Paperback Link:https://bit.ly/pitching-for-profitFeatured in a Mastercard ad campaign for 'Women's History Month'Host a Talk ShowEmail: precious@perfectpitchesbyprecious.com

Today's episode is about how to help a friend using a model of deepening relationships I've talked about before. The ORA principle. You remember it, don't you? O - Observe. R - Reflect. A -Act. ORA. I saw this model of relating on several different levels from the responses some of you, our listeners, sent in to help another listener. Someone I'm calling “Emily.” In episode 197, Emily wrote in, feeling overwhelmed at how to develop relationships. She said she has no friends and is lonely. I‘ll read what she wrote in a minute. I then asked all of you this question near the end of the episode, How do you react internally to her words? How did you feel inside about what she shared? Then, what would you do or say to Emily in response to her comments? How would you respond to her if the two of you were in a coffee shop having a private conversation with each other? But before we get into today's episode, here's what this podcast is all about. Welcome to You Were Made for This If you find yourself wanting more from your relationships, you've come to the right place. Here you'll discover practical principles you can use to experience the life-giving relationships you were made for. I'm your host, John Certalic, award-winning author and relationship coach, here to help you find more joy in the relationships God designed for you. To access all past and future episodes, go to the bottom of this page to the yellow "Subscribe" button, then enter your name and email address in the fields above it. The episodes are organized chronologically and are also searchable by topics, categories, and keywords. As with every episode, our purpose today is to help you find more joy in the relationships God designed for you. Our listener friend, Emily, certainly isn't experiencing any joy in her relationships. But let's see what we can do together to help a friend like her. Season seven is coming to a close But first, I want to remind you of something I've been mentioning in the last couple of episodes. Next week's show, number 200 will bring an end to season 7 of You Were Made for This. I'll then be taking a break from the podcast for a time to work on a few projects to better serve you. I'll still be writing about relationships from time to time and I'd like to keep you in the know. If you're on my email list, I'll send you an article or email I come across that I think you would find interesting and helpful in nurturing your relationships. But if you're not getting my Wednesday email, then you're not on my email list. To get on it, just go to johncertalic.com/follow to give me your email address. What can we do to help a friend like this? Okay, On to today's program. You may recall in episode 197 I mentioned that someone I'll call Emily (not her real name) stumbled upon Episode 063: “Six Reasons Why We're Not More Curious About People.” I'll have a link to it in the show notes, or if you're driving, just remember johncertalic.com/063. Emily came across this episode 2½ years after it first aired. Listen as I read her comments about it. “I found this page because I was trying to do some research into what is ‘wrong with me.' “I grew up in a very strict and often abusive household, where it was constantly drilled into my head that if people wanted you to know things, they would tell you. And I was made to feel stupid for asking anything that should be “obvious.” We were basically shamed out of our curiosity as kids and taught to accept everything at face value without asking any questions. “Now almost 40 years old, I'm so frustrated by the fact that I don't have any real, close friendships. “I don't know how to be curious about people, and even when I want to be… I have no idea what to ask. It feels like I don't even know how personal relationships work. I don't know how often you're supposed to reach out to people, exactly what parts of their lives you should be involved in, or how often to reach out… it sounds so silly but it's my reality! I don't know how to make and keep friends. “I'm sure I come off as selfish and self-centered… But really I just don't know how all this works and I get overwhelmed by it.” The question I asked our listening audience So again, the question I asked again of our listening audience is how do you react internally to her words? How would you respond to her if the two of you were in a coffee shop having a private conversation with each other.? Here's a way to help a friend like this Our first listener response in answer to this question comes from Marilyn from Minnesota. She writes: “John, I felt like crying for this person sharing her relationship problem. I hope she has been getting some sound counseling over the years. “When I enter an unfamiliar culture I seek out a mentor or cultural guide to walk me through the confusing web. I can ask the questions that come up and that person can give valuable advice. I believe this would be a help to this person. But how can she even find someone to do it? This is the dilemma. “ I would love for this person to be my friend and experience life with her as a cultural guide and friend. But I suppose that's a crazy idea as a blog is not normally used for such things. “I had parents exactly opposite from this individual. When I was very young, we had a missionary in our home for dinner. As we talked around the table, I felt free to ask him a question. In response, he complimented me for asking the question and encouraged me to continue that practice. Interesting how that one complement thrust me forward to get to know people by asking questions. This was also a lesson for me in later years to encourage and strengthen children in little and big ways. You never know the effect it will have. “I think you've done programs on asking good questions. Always an excellent topic. Some people are so good at it and some are on the opposite spectrum.” The elements of the ORA principle in Marilyn's response I like how Marilyn O- observed what was going on inside of her after reading Emily's comments. “I felt like crying.” While she couldn't physically observe Emily, she pictured what it must have been like for her. This enabled Marilyn to R-reflect on her own experience of being in an environment that's unfamiliar - just like the world of healthy relationships is unfamiliar to Emily. This really helped Marilyn identify with what Emily is going through Another listener response to help a friend like Emily A second listener response comes from Randy in Pennsylvania. Randy writes: “This evening, I listened again to this week's Podcast and the words compassion and empathy come to mind when you shared some of "Emily's" story. It reminds me of the broken world we live in. None of us are born into perfect families and no doubt the baggage, hurts, and scars can be passed on from one generation to another. “I think of "Emily" as a little girl who was conditioned to think so poorly of herself. It defined her and her ability to relate to others because at home she was made to feel stupid which likely shut her down emotionally. Here she is around 40 years old living emotionally imprisoned to being the "bad, stupid, etc." girl that her abusive parents brought her up to think about herself. “In many ways, I can relate as I regularly struggle with relational interactions and often feel like I don't go very deep with people. I can look at possible why's....a father who did not speak much.....showed his love through his work and providing not through his talking....he loved us dearly but his actions were his voice, not his mouth. My mom grew up with a very critical mother....hate to say it, but I picked up a bit of that type of thinking... Act to help a friend “So, thinking back to ‘Emily', whatever she can do to work on changing her self-talk ‘that she is stupid and can't make friends' would be a big step forward. Think about working on changing her ‘mental Muscle Memory' by replacing the negative thoughts with new, positive words, such as ‘I am deeply and completely loved by God…' something short and easy to repeat. “John, this is a very good exercise as what you have done by sharing this story and seeking input helps us do our own processing with taking steps forward in our own growth and healing. Thanks!” The ORA principle we see in Randy's response Randy O-observed the compassion and empathy that rose within him as he heard Emily's story. He observed what her childhood was like as Emily shared parts of it. It caused Randy to R-reflect on his own growing-up years, which allowed him to more easily identify with Emily. He also offered some A-Action Emily could take. He puts it this way, whatever she can do to work on changing her self-talk "that she is stupid and can't make friends" would be a big step forward. Think about working on changing her "mental Muscle Memory" by replacing the negative thoughts with new, positive words. So what does all this mean for YOU? There are people like Emily all around us. Maybe you're even one of them. Adults, who as children, were never modeled what good relationships look like. People just stuck in their relationships because they don't know what they don't know. This ORA model of relating is a simple way of remembering what you can do to help a friend. We just touched upon the surface of the 3 components of this principle. There's so much more to observing, reflecting, and acting that we don't have time to cover here. After season 7 of the podcast ends next week, I plan to spend more time developing this concept so I can pass it on to you. If you forget everything else from today's episode, here's the one thing I hope you remember Today's episode about how to help a friend struggling with relationships shows that the ORA principle of deepening relationships is a useful relational tool. Observe by watching and listening. Reflect upon what you observe and what it could mean. Act based on what you've observed and reflected upon. Closing Finally, I want to stay in touch with you from time to time after season 7 ends next week If you're on my email list, I'll occasionally send you information I come across that I think you would find interesting and helpful in nurturing your relationships. But if you're not getting my Wednesday email already, you're not on my email list. To get on it, just go to johncertalic.com/follow to get on the list. In closing, I'd also love to hear any thoughts you have about today's episode. I hope your thinking was stimulated by today's show, to think about how you can apply this simple relationship model, ORA, with the people in your life. It comes in handy for all kinds of relational interactions, especially when you want to help a friend. Well, that's it for today. If there's someone in your life you think might like to hear what you just heard, please forward this episode on to them. Scroll down to the bottom of the show notes and click on one of the options in the yellow “Share This” bar. I have one more listener response to Emily's dilemma that I'll share with you next week in episode 200 to close out season seven. And then I'll share my own thoughts and response to Emily's challenges. I know you're going to like next week's program, and I'm confident you will find it helpful. But until then, don't forget to spread a little relational sunshine around the people you meet this week. Spark some joy for them. And I'll see you again next time, for the last time, in season 7. Welcome back to The Neuroscience Meets Social and Emotional Learning Podcast where we bridge the gap between theory and practice, with strategies, tools and ideas we can all use immediately, applied to the most current brain research to heighten productivity in our schools, sports environments and modern workplaces. I'm Andrea Samadi and launched this podcast to share how important an understanding of our brain is for our everyday life and results. On this episode we will cover: ✔ What are the 4 neurosignatures that Friederike Fabritius identifies in her NEW book, The Brain-Friendly Workplace. ✔ How to use these neurosignatures to improve workplace productivity and happiness. ✔ 3 TIPS for using neurosignatures in YOUR workplace. ✔ Prepare for EPISODE #258 with Friederilke Fabritius. ALL IMAGES FROM THE BRAIN-FRIENDLY WORKPLACE ARE CREDITED TO CAROLIN NISCHWITZ For this week's Brain Fact Friday, and Episode #257, I want to cover Friederike Fabritius's new book The Brain-Friendly Workplace: Why Talented People Quit and How to Get Them to Stay[i] as I've been reading her book, preparing for our interview Friday morning, and our NEXT episode, and I know I won't be able to cover everything in one interview. This book is beyond comprehensive and has enough science within it to cover our Brain Fact Fridays for the rest of this year. Friederike has been carefully writing this book since our last interview EPISODE #27[ii] back in 2019, when we first launched this podcast, and there are many Aha moments, and connections I'll highlight on the next episode, when we speak with her, but for today's Brain Fact Friday, I want to cover something important that her book taught me. It's the title of her book, The Brain Friendly Workplace, that explains what we all need to happy at work. My goal with this episode is to share Friederike's science-backed brain discovery of the “neurosignature” that she introduces in the introduction of this book, and how we can all use it to increase our awareness, the meaning we create throughout our day, and add a sense of autonomy with our work. Then I'll share an example that shows how her discovery of the “neurosignature” will highlight what we all need to be successful and happy in the modern workplace, with our brain in mind, and that it's not about changing the people (with more training) but it's about changing the workplace. With this paradigm shift in mind, I'll get straight to the point here—- For this week's Brain Fact Friday, Did YOU KNOW THAT: We all have our own “neurosignature,” a unique mix of four key brain chemicals that strongly affects our personality and how we process stress and information?” Once we understand our unique “neurosignature” we can learn how to hit our “optimal stress point” and manipulate our “fun, fear, and focus” which is the recipe for reaching peak performance in the workplace. In this place of peak performance, Ideas will flow. You'll feel energized, inspired, and alive. You'll also gain a valuable framework for understanding colleagues and those you interact with their different “neurosignatures.” You'll get more done in less time You'll see why changing the workplace is needed, over expecting employees to change with more training. Understanding our unique “neurosignature” is a technique that provides a competitive advantage allowing you work with the flow, rather than against it. This is the whole premise of Friederike Fabritius's NEW book, The Brain Friendly Workplace where she's created a new vision for the future of our modern workplaces. What are the 4 Neurosignatures? Friederike says there are 4 brain systems that we can fall into. Can you recognize yourself? Others you work with? What about those you live with? THE DOPAMINE NEUROSIGNATURE: Friederike says that “people high in dopamine are curious, energetic, and future-oriented. Inventors and entrepreneurs tend to have this neurosignature. They get bored easily and are always looking for the next new exciting project.” This one feels like me, as the host of this podcast, thriving with the creation of each episode. THE TESTOSTERONE NEUROSIGNATURE: People high in testosterone are tough-minded, direct, and enjoy wielding power. They tend to be analytical and use systems thinking, which involves moving logically from one step to the next to solve a problem, based on a system's “rules.” They enjoy tinkering with “systems” such as car engines or computers. This signature describes my husband to a “t” and we often joke around about his quality of being direct. I call it something else starting with the letter A—I mean it as a compliment as I do find direct people to be refreshing as they rarely waste time (a pet peeve of mine). THE ESTROGEN/OXYTOCIN NEUROSIGNATURE: People high in estrogen are empathetic and good at building personal connections and community. Estrogen increases the secretion of oxytocin, which enhances feelings of bonding and trust. People with this neurosignature excel at nonlinear “lateral thinking,” which involves examining a problem from multiple angles until insights emerge. Lateral thinkers are also good at envisioning long-term implications of a decision. I'm thinking this also seems like me, as I know I've been told I think this way, and then there's this highly intuitive side to me that I tap into as I'm creating these episodes with the goal of helping others, wherever you might be listening in the world. Are you ALSO noticing that you show up in more than one signature as well? Psychologist Scott Barry Kauffman, who wrote the foreword of The Brain Friendly Workplace, reminds us that “Neurosignatures are fluid, and they should serve as guidelines, as a helpful framework in understanding people, rather than as categories and boxes to classify people” and he shared how his “testosterone neurosignature is very high (in the morning). But by evening, it's almost nonexistent.” As you are thinking of what neurosignature you are, take note to how it might be different throughout your day. THE SEROTONIN NEUROSIGNATURE: In the final brain system, Friederike says that “people high in serotonin are reliable, detail-oriented, cautious and loyal. They thrive on routine and structure and enjoy consistency and stability.” What's YOUR Neurosignature? Where do you fit in? While I recognized myself with a dopamine neurosignature, I could also see I fit into the Estrogen/Oxytocin Signature. While I admire those who naturally possess the Testosterone Signature, I probably try to rock the boat with those with a Serotonin Neurosignature, who are tradition-oriented and cautious, hoping they'll lean in a bit to some of my crazy adventurous ideas. How Does This Translate into YOUR Workplace for Increased Happiness and Success? It's always easy to look back, connecting the dots backwards, (like Steve Jobs reminds us) but if you asked me what corporate environment I enjoyed the most over my career, or when did I have the most fun with my work, (excluding my time working in the motivation speaking industry where I earned commission sales) I would hands down say that it was when I was operating from the Dopamine Neurosignature, and had fun, was creative, had complete autonomy with my day, was curious, which led to increased self-motivation and high productivity on my end. What job was I doing where I was working with this neurosignature? I was the happiest was when I was a field sales rep, working with Pearson Education, covering the southwest region of the country, selling books and software to Higher Ed (college/university campuses) and K-12 schools in the 5 States surrounding AZ. Work felt like play to me back then. This job hit all the requirements of my Dopamine Neurosignature but the only problem was that it required me to be on the road 4 days/week, so when I wanted to start a family, I had to leave this brain friendly field sales position, and go to inside sales to stay with the company. It's easy to see it all looking back, but I'll never forget the manager who looked me straight in the eye and said “this is a huge mistake for you.” I'm guessing he didn't need to know my neurosignature to see that I'd learn to understand what he meant a few years later when it all sunk in. I noticed the discord when I no longer had the chance to use my creativity, or curiosity in my day, working in this cubicle, that felt sort of like a prison when I was used to the open space of driving on endless open roads, navigating campuses to find my customer's offices, to suddenly sitting in a small space with just a telephone and computer—my neurosignature went haywire. I wouldn't have said it was the easiest transition until I figured out how to bring fun and creativity to an office space when our sales team started to go to the gym at lunchtime, breaking us out of our offices, and activating all of our brains mid-day. I'd say this revised work environment was the second most enjoyable corporate environment I've ever experienced. Like Friederike said “change the workplace, not the people.” Our sales team was highly productive and creative with this autonomy and we were all very happy. Here's my sales team from 2006, all of us with different neurosignatures (some of us were dopamine driven-enjoying the break away from our desks, others were serotonin driven, requesting to go dancing after work, and others testosterone driven—just there for the moment and planning to take over the world, or looking for the next open position in management/leadership). We all worked together, towards a common goal, helping each other to manage our optimal levels of stress, and even without knowing each other's neurosignatures, we knew what each of us needed to be successful. “Change the workplace, not the people.” What Happens if You Don't Have This Type of Synergy in YOUR Workplace? The crazy thing that happened to this sales team, is that our workplace changed about 2 years after this photo was taken. Our company boasted of these huge offices that we would all have moving from Scottsdale, right next to the base of Camelback Mountain (where we often hiked together) to Chandler, where back then, was known for their dairy farms and the wonderful scent you could catch in the air if you drove past one of these farms with your car windows open. Our offices moved and we all lost our synergy. The workplace changed, but not for the better. Management thought replacing our cozy cubicles that looked out to Scottsdale road, and the mountains nearby with a more corporate location (that you can see from the highway if you ever visit AZ). Pearson Education exists on the 101 near the Ray Road exit, but the culture that was created in the Scottsdale location never made it there. The people were the same, but the workplace changed for the worse, taking the culture we had built with it. I remember using my creative mind, in our new offices, to change the energy of this location, and presented many forward-thinking ideas that were never received well from the Testosterone-led management team. Even the managers who made the old location a success, tried to change the culture, but something had changed with this new location, that would never be captured again. There is a solution to this problem, and Friederike captures it in her NEW book. To Review This Week's Brain Fact Friday, based on Friederike Fabritius's book, The Brain-Friendly Workplace: Why Talented People Quit and How to Get Them to Stay[iii] DID YOU KNOW THAT: We all have our own “neurosignature,” a unique mix of four key brain chemicals that strongly affects our personality and how we process stress and information?” Once we understand our unique “neurosignature” we can learn how to hit our “optimal stress point” and manipulate our “fun, fear, and focus” which is the recipe for reaching peak performance in the workplace. HOW DO WE USE OUR NEUROSIGNATURE TO OPTIMIZE PRODUCTIVITY AND HAPPINESS IN OUR WORKPLACE? The first step of creating a Brain-Friendly Workplace is to recognize your own neurosignature, as well as those you work with, to optimize what each person on your team needs to reach peak performance with their work. I highly suggest reading the entire book, The Brain-Friendly Workplace, as I've only scratched the surface of this topic, and be sure to listen to our next episode where Freiderike dives deeper into her book with me. The next step is to remember that it's about changing the workplace, not the people, with more training. Think of ways that the workplace can be changed, replacing old ways of thinking (like how many hours you must sit at your desk) with the outcomes you expect employees to achieve. Remember my example of our sales team that left the office every day at lunch to exercise, increasing our productivity, happiness and loyalty to the company. REMEMBER: When were YOU the happiest with YOUR work? It took me some time to think back to all the workplaces I've ever worked in, but the ones where I was the happiest were easy to remember. Through trial and error I now know that I perform best working at a desk if I am able to exercise BEFORE I have to sit for long periods of time. How do you perform best? How do those you work with perform best? How can you use the neurosignature to improve your workplace productivity and happiness? I'll leave you with these questions, and will see you on our next episode, with Friederike Fabritius, as we dive into The Brain Friendly Workplace. See you next week. The most important thing about having a Chief of Staff is utilizing them appropriately so that you and your company are able to extract maximum value. Many principals mess this part up because they continue to treat their CoS as administrative support. In order for a CoS to be effective in a company, you must expose them to everything. Nothing can be off-limits. The most effective CEOs, Founder, Entrepreneurs and Executives have their CoS involved in everything. From email access to board meetings, an effective CoS is processing all information in real-time. Joseph discusses the importance of principals setting the right tone and creating a fruitful environment, especially as they onboard their CoS. Gaining executive buy-in, is paramount to ensuring that this CoS is not hindered or siloed when doing their job. Also, the better your entire company understands that a CoS is not their to “Get Them” but instead to serve as an asset, the better your CoS will be able to do what they do best, Execute. This 3-part series will discuss the Concept of a Chief of Staff, Who makes a good one and where to find them and most importantly, How to properly use their talents.

We don't need to ask hurting people “what can I do to help?” There's another way to help that takes the pressure off us and the person we care about. It's to reflect the character of God in caring for others. Today's episode gives two examples of this important principle we can use in our relationships. Keep reading to learn more. A picture is worth a thousand words. I saw two news photos recently about the invasion of Ukraine that gave me hope in the midst of this awful tragedy. You've heard it said that a picture is worth a thousand words. I'm not counting, but here are my words about these two pictures that touched my heart for the compassion and kindness they depicted. They also illustrate the relationship principle I talked about in last week's episode, no. 152. I'll explain that in a minute, but I'll start with the photos. Baby strollers left for the taking The first photo is of a train station where Ukrainian refugees fleeing the Russian invasion of their country first arrive in Poland. On the platform where people get off the train, some unknown women placed empty baby strollers for the newly arriving mothers to take for their children. I think it's safe to say this was a spontaneous response on the part of these women to act upon what they first observed. They saw the news of millions of Ukrainians fleeing their country. I'm recording this near the end of March 2022 and the latest figures I saw were about 10 million people in Ukraine have fled their homes. They are mostly women and children; the men are staying back to fight in the war. The UN estimates 50,000 Ukrainians are entering Poland every day. I also think it's safe to say these Polish women reflected upon what this means for their Ukrainian counterparts. They're imagining what life must be like for them. To leave behind their husbands, brothers, fathers, and even grandfathers to fight the invading forces, not knowing if they will ever see their loved ones again. They see the photos you and I see of apartment buildings bombed and reduced to rubble. If the war were to end today, what could they possibly return to other than smashed slabs of concrete, piled one on top of the other where their homes used to be? No one asked, “What can I do to help?” No one asked these refugees getting off the train, “How can I help you?” I doubt if a committee was formed to design a care program with a catchy name and a clever acronym to assist these refugees. Instead, they put the ORA principle into practice. They Observed - Reflected - Acted. The baby strollers the Poles provide seemed in pretty good shape and I wonder if they were recently purchased. Giving away strollers, whether their own possessions or newly purchased, was a sacrifice. But a loss so minor in comparison to what the refugees were giving up. If you look closely at the photo, you'll notice the baby strollers on the train platform are pointing in different directions, with no sense of order. Just like their lives that changed on February 24, 2022, when Russia invaded their homeland. For the Ukrainian mothers, these baby strollers send a silent but powerful message to them that there are good people here in Poland. “They get me. They understand. In their nation's history they have been invaded by Russia, too. Maybe I'll be able to make it in this new country after all. At least my children and I are alive and with me. And there are some people doing what they can to care for us.“ A welcoming bridge The second photo is of a gray wooden bridge near the crossing from Ukraine into Romania. It's the photo you see at the top of the show notes for this episode. I'll also have a link to it at the bottom of the show notes. I'm struck by the contrast in colors in the photo. The sky is gray. The bridge is gray. But someone has placed bright, colorful stuffed toy animals on the side of the bridge. The Romanians observed the same photos of war as the Polish women and the rest of us see. They also reflected upon the meaning of it all and the impact on mothers and their children leaving their homeland in Ukraine. They imagined what it must be like to be them with frightened children under tow. The kids had to leave their prized possessions behind, but greeting them on the side of the bridge are colorful stuffed toy animals. Maybe this could be the start to a good beginning. This gesture sent a message to the arriving Ukrainians, “These Romanians must be good people to provide these stuffed animals. They're showing concern for my children. They understand kids because they must have children of their own. Maybe, just maybe, we're going to be okay here after all.” The refugees saw the Romanians reflect the character of God. So what does all this mean for YOU and me? You and I won't be expecting Ukrainian refugees at our doorstep anytime soon. But there is a relationship lesson we can learn from the Poles and Romanians. It's about the relationship principle of asking a better question than “what can I do to help?” It is to think about what you could do to best reflect the character of God in helping someone. And then do it. It is about taking our eyes off ourselves for a few minutes and putting ourselves in the place of hurting people who are scared and dealing with a life-changing loss of one kind or another. We don't have to look to fleeing refugees from Ukraine to find people like this. They're all around us. We can follow the example of the Poles and Romanians How about the friend who had to put their dog to sleep? The neighbor who just lost his job. The woman you work with whose mother no longer recognizes her because of Alzheimer's Disease. The lady in your church whose husband left her after decades of marriage. We can't make up for these losses. But we can reflect the character of God. That part of God's character that hates injustice and evil. The part that's kind and compassionate. The part that's gentle. We can be like that for people. The Polish women reflected the character of Jesus with baby strollers they gave away. The Romanians reflected the character of Jesus with the colorful stuffed toy animals they offered up on that cold gray bridge. How you and I reflect the character of God will be entirely different. It will be unique to you and me. What a privilege we have in doing this, whether it's giving away baby strollers or colorful toy animals, or something else. Here's the main takeaway I hope you remember from today's episode Since we are created in the image and likeness of God, when people are in need ask the Holy Spirit what you can do to best reflect the character of God to them. And then do what he tells you. As always, I'd love to hear any thoughts you have about today's episode. Closing In closing, I hope your thinking was stimulated by today's show, to both reflect and to act that's consistent with how God made each of us in his image. Because when we reflect his image well, we will feel the joy of being and doing what you and I were made for. You Were Made for This. That's it for today. In the meantime, spread a little joy in your relationships this week as you reflect the image and character of God. Until we meet up again next week, goodbye for now. The Recalcitrant Preppers: How to Get Them on Board
The Punch Drunk Soul Podcast - Soul Alignment + Business Chats
Today we're chatting with Ola Walczyk, a graduate of our program Path to Freedom and current member of our Scale with Soul Mastermind. Ola is a brand new coach who's worked with 2 clients so far since she started her business in August and just this Sunday she enrolled her third client for $1800 or 1500 Euros. I'm excited to bring you this episode today because we've witnessed first hand Ola's amazing transformation - from a woman who was so afraid to invest in herself and believe in herself that she almost said NO to this path. She tells us on this podcast how she didnt believe she was worthy of investing in herself, didn't think she was good enough to be a coach, and kept letting other people's opinions of the coaching industry bother her to the point where she almost gave up on this dream. This is a beautiful podcast interview for anyone out there who feels like the people in their lives just dont GET THEM. Ola felt the same and, especially being in Europe where coaching is often viewed as a joke, Ola struggled with other people's judgements, including her family. The steps she took in Path to Freedom gave her the confidence she needed to finally believe in herself, know her true worth and value and start her coaching business with a bang. Now even her father proudly tells people that his daughter is a mentor and has her own company. What a SHIFT. This is what happens when you finally CLAIM what you want. When you OWN your dreams, the people who used to doubt you will be inspired by you. I've seen this in my own life with my best friend even. I remember she told me this was a crazy idea and that I should just get a regular job like everyone else! Well 2 years later, she actually joined my program and loved it! How things change when we really show up for ourselves and claim what we want. You can have anything you want, but you have to BELIEVE you are worthy and deserving of it. You have th BELIEVE that it's meant for you. You have to BELIEVE in yourself. If you don't, it will never happen. Period. So enjoy this episode as Ola tells us how she was able to overcome her fears of being judged and step out into the world as a proud coach and confidently land high ticket clients. Before we jump into the interview, I want to remind those of you listening...right now we have a special opportunity for new and aspiring coaches: we are looking for just 5 motivated women who want to make $10K in the next 90 days as coaches. You must be willing to get out of your comfort zone and be coachable. You must also be ready and capable of working with 2-5 of your own clients within this time frame. If that's you, please email me about this at Ali@Punchdrunksoul and just put $10K in the body so I know what opportunity you're inquiring about so I can follow up and send you the details. If you enjoy this episode I'd love for you to let us know by sharing it on your Instagram stories and tagging us! I'm @punchdrunksoul and Ola is @HelloImOla. OK let's get into this interview - you're going to love it! Aha Moments: How to be a confident coach even when you have NO one supporting your dreams Why you don't need to travel to find yourself and your purpose - how to do it at home now! The more action you take, the more clarity you get How to feel confident as a coach without a certification background The bad investment Ola made in a coach that taught her what to look for in the right coach Why your story is what sells, not your product or service How Ola's had success by not having a Plan B Links: Follow Ola On Instagram: Instagram.com/HelloImOla To learn more about Path to Freedom Coach Academy click here Punchdrunksoul.com/pathtofreedom
