Scott Thompson and Jesy Herron are both storytellers, they just come at it a little differently. Scott is the Founder and Team Champion of RESLV, a filmmaker and big-idea guy who's always looking for the story beneath the surface. Jesy leads client partnerships, hosts Rediscover Your Story, and brings the energy, curiosity, and instinct for what will actually connect with people. Together, they've helped build RESLV into an Emmy Award-winning creative agency.  Now they're telling one of their biggest stories yet. Their upcoming documentary, Cradle of Coaches, explores the incredible coaching legacy of Miami University and the people who helped shape the game far beyond Oxford. In this unique episode of Building Ideas, we're going behind the scenes of how that story came together, and why it's about a lot more than football.

Mason Rudolph is a little bit jealous of Will Howard and Drew Allar, but for reasons you may not think. Rudolph is jealous of the tutelage they have gotten so early in their careers that he didn't get from a veteran QB or his head coach early on. Aside from the shot taken at Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Tomlin, Rudolph is very aware that the fanbase is starving for their next franchise guy. Fair to say he has a point? If Rudolph gets a shot this season, will he succeed under Mike McCarthy? KDKA TV's Bob Pompeani joined the show. Pomp thinks it's a good broadcasting tool to go back and listen to your work, especially the PXP duties he has with Steelers preseason games. Bob said the preseason games are great for the ratings, even though people claim not to care. Bob thinks 4 QBs is a ‘logical' move for the Steelers, but it will make things tight when it comes to the 53-man. Pomp was ‘stunned' by Kaleb Johnson only playing 5 snaps against the Packers, but expects a larger workload tomorrow night. Has Pomp traded notes with Ian Eagle yet, who calls TV games for the Jets in the preseason? Is Gabriel Rubio bound for the practice squad even though he has put together a strong camp? Bob sees a different fire in Roman Wilson this year. After the call, we took a look at the TV crews for NFL preseason games. Power Rankings – Top 5 guys you want on the Steelers roster instead of 4 QBs.

August 12, 2026 - Season 17, Episode 7 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning show, Alex Kozora and I start by talking about the health of the Pittsburgh Steelers as they get ready to play their first preseason game of 2026 on Thursday night. Alex and I go over the chances of Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers playing in the preseason opener based on what he and HC Mike McCarthy said on Tuesday. In addition to talking about if Rodgers will ultimately play, Alex and I speculate as to what the QB rotation and playing time might look like Thursday night when it comes to Mason Rudolph, Will Howard, and Drew Allar. In the first half of this show, Alex and highlight numerous players on both sides of the football that we look forward to watching play on Thursday night against the green Bay Packers. We discuss potential snaps counts for various players as well. We also highlight what specifically we will be looking for out of Howard and Allar in their first preseason game action. After thoroughly previewing the preseason game against the Packers, Alex and I wrap up a few other minor things that McCarthy and Rodgers said on Tuesday during their respective media sessions. With former Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger likely to be a finalist for the 2027 Hall of Fame class, we go over his chances of being a first-ballot selection a little less than a year from now. We also go over several other legitimate first-ballot candidates for the 2027 class. Former Steelers S Minkah Fitzpatrick was recently in the news for comments that he made on the Pivot Podcast, so we go over what he said and give our thoughts on those points he made. Mike made waves by telling the Pardon My Take guys that the Steelers could trade Aaron Rodgers at this year's deadline if they get off to a rotten start – what was his reasoning? Mike thinks things between Mike McCarthy and his QB could become ‘very combustible very quickly' like they did at the end of their time together in Green Bay. Mike believes the Steelers, like every year since Ben Roethlisberger retired, need to look into all options next offseason at QB, assuming Rodgers is done after this one. Mike's guess it that Tua Tagovailoa will be the Falcons starting QB Week 1 in Pittsburgh, saying it's Tua's job to lose at this point.

August 5, 2026 - Season 17, Episode 4 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning show, Alex Kozora and I start by talking about the latest set of transactions that the Pittsburgh Steelers have made. We also go over the health of the 91-man roster after six training camp practices. Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers has been in the mainstream news cycle because of several polarizing comments that he made during his recent interview on The Pat McAfee Show. We discuss the firestorm that Rodgers seems to have now restarted and if there are any concerns about it impacting the team or locker room with training camp now nearly halfway over. Rodgers has reportedly recently said that he might play some during the preseason, so we address what he had to say on the topic as well as what HC Mike McCarthy said on the possibility of his starting quarterback playing snaps during the exhibition contests slate. Alex and I discuss our thoughts on Rodgers possibly playing during the preseason and how it might impact the snaps of the other three quarterbacks on the roster should that ultimately happen. The Atlanta Falcons have now lost a key starter on defense due to a training camp season-ending injury so we discuss the impact that could have in Week 1 when they face the Steelers. The development of Steelers rookie OT Max Iheanachor seems to be one of the biggest storylines coming out of training camp with six practices now in the books, so Alex and I discuss that narrative. Later in this show, Alex and I also go over the other most notable storylines to come out of camp at this point. Alex recently wrote about his thoughts on each member of the Steelers 2026 draft class after six camp practices, so he recaps that post during this show. Former Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger made quite a prediction about the Steelers' 2026 offense and points scored this year during his recent podcast episode, so Alex and I address that later in this show. Are the Steelers currently in the market for a veteran free safety-type that can play on special teams? Should they be? Alex and I address those two questions based on recent comments made by McCarthy on the position. Alex and I also review a few notable quotes from several Steelers' players the last few days to round out this episode. This 69-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap above and we end things by answering a few email questions we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. June 11 – Ep. 103: For today's episode, Joe Clark and Ross McCorkle discuss Mike McCarthy's OTAs, which are being described as notably more intense and structured than Mike Tomlin's in recent years. Will players burn out toward the end of the season, as Ben Roethlisberger suggested, or is that a silly thought? Next, we discuss Big Ben's record prediction of 12-5, and whether or not that is too optimistic. We offer our early record predictions as well. For the last topic, we dive into Brendan Sorsby's mess in the NCAA, and why it's an awful thing not only for college football, but for sports in general. We wrap up the show with a listener question about an under-the-radar trade candidate. Thank you for joining us for this 40-minute episode, and we hope to see your thoughts in the comment section. Ben Roethlisberger said on his podcast that he thinks Mike McCarthy might be ramping things up at practice too early. Poni says that new coaches have burnt out Steelers teams before, and that Tomlin did this as well in his first year. Most coaches think of this time of year as a time to get the mental reps down, as opposed to ramping up physically. The Seahawks are on Hard Knocks this summer after they won the Super Bowl last season for some reason. The Patriots will be on the offseason Hard Knocks in 2027. Mason McCormick will move from right guard to left guard this season. People say that left guard is more important than right guard, should the Steelers trust McCormick to play the position? Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Mike says that if Baker Mayfield becomes available next offseason, the Steelers should sprint to his agent's office and start working out a contract immediately. He also says that the Buccaneers contract offer to Mayfield was low, and Mayfield's agency didn't want to even respond to it. Florio says it would be wrong for the NFL to take action against Brendan Sorsby before he broke any NFL gambling rules, but he also isn't sure if they will or not.

Mullsy thinks that Mason Rudolph is correct in this assessment. Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Mike thinks that it is nearly a slam dunk that Mike Vrabel will be coaching the Patriots when they play the Steelers in Week 2, unless the situation somehow gets worse. Mike thinks that it is both possible for Brendan Sorsby to be playing at Texas Tech and for him to be drafted in the supplemental draft this year. Florio also says that there is going to be much investigation into the Josh Jacobs situation before anything happens.
