Salford Sarriball #4: Rooooooneeeeeyyy by FMheathen Football manager Audioblog
Newcastle's takeover is all but over the line and this brings with it lots of questions and possibilities for the future of English football. What will this move mean for not only the club but the city as well and how glad will the fans be to see the back of Mike Ashley? A huge investment like this brings up the topic of financial fair play yet again. But who ultimately has the right to decide how much money someone can put into a football team? We also ramble on about the future of transfers, the season of SarriBall at Chelsea, the curious case of N'Golo Kante's future, wasted talents and how over or underrated is Antoinne Griezman? Make sure to subscribe, follow us @2MenRambling on Twitter and let us know about any topics you'd like us to cover.

Buenos días, and welcome to another episode of On The Continent - live from snowy London Town!David Cartlidge and Andy Brassell join Luke Moore in the studio to run the rule over this week’s Champions League fixtures, as well as some of the other continental goings on. We discuss Real Madrid losing their Champions League fear factor as they were beaten 2-1 by an impressive Manchester City, while Maurizio Sarri was left confused by his players’ lack of application of his methods as they were bested by Lyon. We also reserve some due praise for Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick, wonder what’s going on between Lionel Messi and Barcelona, and recount some truly mental scenes from Galatasaray’s win at Fenerbahçe - their first in 20 years! David’s also bought his love for hate to our Games of the Week, as he selects an underappreciated Andalusian derby.***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. Some teams start well, and others start badly; but few start completely at odds with where they will end up. Sam Tighe (@brsamtighe) and Dean Jones (@deanjonesbr) join host Jack Collins (@jjwc) to take a look at three teams who are over-performing in their respective leagues this season, and three teams who are well below where we expect them to finish. Hot Takes this week involve a chat about how Maurizio Sarri's Juventus are already showing signs they might become the best ever version of Sarriball after their win over Conte's Inter in the Derby d'Italia (05:20), a prediction that Chelsea will become the lifeblood of the England squad by World Cup 2020 (09:10); and a look at Manchester City's loss to Wolves at the weekend (13:54). This week's Melon of the Week is given to a striker who missed an absolute sitter when his team needed him most to score... (19:08) Roulette asks which is the best stadium food we've had (47:56); whether Barcelona should retire the No.10 shirt when Leo Messi retires (49:37) and which Premier League club the Rank Squad think each other best represent (52:08); before Sam rounds things off by ranking the best things about building a fort to watch football in, in this week's nonsense rankings (53:31). Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro GOIH ComM is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a forward for Serie A club Juventus and captains the Portugal national team. Maurizio Sarri is an Italian professional football manager who is the manager of Serie A club Juventus. He did not play football professionally, taking part as an amateur centre back and coach while working as a banker. In 2005, he had his first Serie B job at Pescara. Rebecca and Alex are back with a bumper length episode after a busy week of Premier League and Champions League football. We kick off with a chat about Liverpool's attempts to recreate a reverse Istanbul against RB Salzburg and talk about Joel Matip, the real GOAT here. There's also a lot of love for Sadio Mane and Liverpool's fullbacks, while we're forced to defend Mo Salah's form again. In contrast, Tottenham Hotspur are in a real mess after shipping seven goals against a rampant Bayern Munich side. We thought they might have turned a corner after their hard fought win over Southampton but it turns out that they and Pochettino might be in more trouble than we thought. Chelsea, PSG and Atletico Madrid also feature heavily with their league form and Champions League performances spoken about in depth, as well as a look ahead to the big clash in Serie A between Juventus and Inter this weekend, how Sarriball is taking effect in Turin so far, plus why N’Golo Kante will have used the phrase ‘f*** off’ for the first time in his life. We also discuss the increasingly disappointing situation at Manchester City surrounding Bernardo Silva's tweet to Benjamin Mendy and the reactions of Pep Guardiola, Raheem Sterling and the wider football community. Plus, getting the Partey started, which team is not like a tiramisu, which manager and team are like High School Sweethearts, and who the real diva is in our family. **Please take the time to rate and review us on iTunes or wherever you get your podcasts, as it makes it easier for other potential listeners to find us. Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd and Liam Twomey, ESPN's Chelsea correspondent for the last live Monday night show of the season as we look back at a victorious night in Baku to win the Europa Cup and reflect back at a season of high points and low points. On the show tonight we ask, what is it about Chelsea’s winning mentality – is winning trophies the club’s football identity? And what of Eden Hazard without whom winning trophies for the last 7 years may just have been a lot more difficult. By his own admission, almost certainly off to Real Madrid, we praise one of Chelsea’s greatest and say thank you and goodbye. With Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Arsenal in the final, did we finally see Sarriball in full effect? In part two, we discuss the irony of Sarri possibly earning a reprieve at Chelsea by finally winning a trophy only to walk out on the club with a tempting offer to join Juventus. And if he does go, who will replace him – already the potential list rumoured by the press goes from the sublime to the ridiculous.Support the Chelsea FanCast and become a Patron:Become a Patron! In part three, we ask does beating Arsenal 4-1 in a European final make up for a difficult season on and off the pitch for Chelsea supporters? And we look back at the highs and lows of this season. In part four we have your emails to read out for the final time this season. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Chelsea FanCast on Love Sport Radio - the only 100% Chelsea show on the radio! Stamford Chidge and Jonathan Kydd join Johnny Burrow to discuss Chelsea's fantastic victory in the Europa League Cup Final against Arsenal last week.In beating Arsenal in the Europa League Cup final, Chelsea picked up their 16th trophy in 16 years, proving that they still have the 'Winning Mentality' and the club specialises in turning chaos in to trophies, but how does Chelsea do it time and time again? If the truth is to be told, very few of us expected such a superb performance by Chelsea in the destruction of Arsenal in the final, but were we finally witnessing Sarriball and what prompted the stunning second half turn around? While Chelsea showed pace, passing and ruthless finishing did Arsenal crumble at the first sign of trouble?Support the Chelsea FanCast and become a Patron:Become a Patron! As we all hoped, Eden Hazard bowed out in a blaze of glory but with his post-match comments of “I think it’s goodbye” it really does look like he has played his last match for Chelsea. It's been a superb and trophy filled 7 years at the club, but what will his Chelsea legacy be?All's well that ends well for Maurizio Sarri and it was great to see him so clearly happy at finally picking up a winner's medal, but does this mean he has earned a reprieve at the club or will he be tempted to leave for Juventus? Finally, does winning a trophy make up for the off and on-pitch problems this season? All this plus calls from Ray, Wolf and Chidge getting rather angry with Marcus in the process! Chelsea winning trophies and Chidge shouting at people. Sounds like we've got our Chelsea FanCast back :)Chelsea FanCast is broadcast on Love Sport Radio every Friday from 7.00-9.00 pm. Here it is, the Liverpool vs Chelsea reaction podcast you've been waiting for. For differing reasons, Rebecca and Alex are hungover after Mo Salah danced his way through Chelsea's defence to send Liverpool back to the top of the Premier League. Rebecca has questions about why Maurizio Sarri decided to deploy Eden Hazard as a striker and asks why for every Sarriball step forward, there are always two steps back. Meanwhile, Alex is still celebrating the slip curse being broken, Salah and Mané sticking it to the racists, and Jordan Henderson's sudden transformation into Liverpool's best attacking midfielder. Plus, dreams about marrying Jurgen Klopp, why we bought Noah a Spurs kit, and whether Man City will actually drop any more points. Enjoy! **Please take the time to rate and review us on iTunes or wherever you get your podcasts, as it makes it easier for other potential listeners to find us. Thanks!**
Chelsea FanCast on Love Sport Radio - the only 100% Chelsea show on the radio! Stamford Chidge and Jonathan Kydd join Johnny Burrow to look back at a the wins against Fulham in the Premier League, Dynamo Kiev in the Europa Cup and look ahead at a potentially tough fixture against Wolves this weekend.Dom Fifield, the London Football Correspondent of The Guardian joins us on the phone to talk about the news that FIFA has denied Chelsea's request to freeze the transfer ban while they appeal against the punishment handed out. Does this mean Chelsea will be unable to sign players from this summer's window or will the ban ultimately be delayed as it was for Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid? Will the ban mean Chelsea will have to blood their youth players and how safe is Sarri in his job?Chelsea supporters were frustrated with Sarri's team selection against Dynamo Kiev on Thursday night, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi left on the bench, But with Pedro on fire and a stunning Willian free kick Chelsea strolled through to win 3-0. Loftus-Cheek and Hudson-Odoi combined well to score the third so was Sarri right to bring them on late in the game or should they have started? With a 3-0 lead to take in to the second leg, is the tie done and dusted?Chelsea made hard work of beating neighbours Fulham last weekend, in part due to the fatigue of the players after a touch week but it also revealed the conundrum for Sarri in whether to defend deep but not create or press high and pose more of a threat but looking vulnerable defensively. At least Jorginho and Higuain, his main Sarriball disciples both found the back of the net.Wolves beat Chelsea 2-1 back in November and are a dangerous side, so can we expect Sarri to start his tried and tested line up, many of whom got a rest on Thursday. How should Sarri set up - high press or defend deeper? With the battle for top four now back on is this a must win game for Chelsea and what would it mean for Sarri should they lose? This week's opposition view is with Harry Mansell from the Wolves 77 Club and we has this season exceeded his expectations? Does he worry that Espirito Santo will get poached? Who have the stand out players for Wolves been this season and which Chelsea players does he think will be the threat to Wolves on Sunday? The knives were out for Sarriball, following on from the shocking 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Wednesday night, but what the best cure for any sports fanatic? A win. And a big win at that. Chelsea rolled back home with their tails between their legs after that defeat in midweek to be greeted by the Premier League’s bottom club, Huddersfield, who honestly looked to be the worst team in the top division by far. The Blues didn’t want to mess around in front of their own fans, and new signing Gonzalo Higuain made the perfect start in front of his new followers, opening the scoring with a brilliantly timed run onto a Kante pass, before smashing the ball into the roof of the Huddersfield net. Eden Hazard added a penalty just before half-time after Azpilicueta had been brought down on the edge of the box. Everything was looking good after 45 minutes. Normality had been restored to Stamford Bridge, and after the Man of the Match, Eden Hazard had added Chelsea’s third goal, Higuain stepped up once again to blast a shot from outside the penalty area into the roof of the Huddersfield net, to a standing ovation. Finally, Chelsea playmaker and general good guy David Luiz managed to get onto a Willian corner, and his header was heavily deflected into the net by a Huddersfield defender to make it 5-0 to the Blues. Questions still need to be answered, perhaps now even more than ever, as how can the same bunch of footballers keep hitting hot and cold? Sarri keeps talking about mentality, and how he needs to work with his players on that side of the game, but surely these players have been around long enough now to motivate themselves in difficult situations, and with matches against Manchester City, Malmo, Manchester United and Spurs all coming up this month, now may be the best time for the squad to get together and finally sort this mess out.
